Beacon Hill Cafe in Charnwood

No bacon or sausage , and not for the first time. Seems they cannot organise themselves well, and it puts a downer on the day out.

We looked forward to some lunch and a drink, it was around 1pm so not late. We queued for around 20 minutes to be told there was NO food we had 3 children that were hungry and wanted a lunch box but they didn’t have them either! Very slow service. Maybe you should put a sign up to say no food available rather than making people wait for 20 minutes to be told there’s no food

Absolutely great location and the staff are very friendly and efficient considering they are kept short staffed by the Leicestershire County. My partner and I pop in 5 days a week for a relaxing drink.

Kindest staff who aim to please and go beyond! I ordered a latte but i have a bad intollerance to milk and they encouraged me to try one of their milk altertatives which was delicious! My son is special needs and they always welcome him! My dog is loopy and they are nothing but friendly and understanding! We left our dogs frizbe in the cafe and the lovely lady found us in the carpark to return it. My dog would have been so sad! Best cafe, great glute free options 10/10!

This near perfect cafe with great staff and wonderful service has changed in recent days but sadly not for the better. For some reason the management have drastically altered the menu so you can no longer enjoy the breakfast, fried egg sandwich jacket potatoes and homemade soup that made this place special. Although some pastries remain they have switched over to pre-packaged paninis and ciabatta. Such a shame

Opening times are wrong. It states 10 to 4 on a Saturday, actually opens at 9. However the place was absolutely full of dirty sweaty park run people. So be ware do not go on a Saturday morning expecting a nice breakfast

They were short staffed and clearly under pressure so some slack allowed for that. We were told no food was being served because of that which was frustrating as we’d gone for lunch. The coffee was super expensive and small. A definitely inflated price. Pretty disappointing.

Unfortunately after waiting in the queue behind another couple the assistants gave the impression they did not want to serve us, so as we had a later engagement we had to leave and go without. Staff and management need to look at ways to serve people quicker, especially at busy times.

Arrived after a very long walk from The Outwoods and having looked at the sculpture trail. Tables were strewn with dirty crockery, but we needed a rest, so thought we’d stop for drinks and a bag of crisps. There was already a lady waiting at the counter on arrival and we assumed that the lady behind the counter was making her hot drinks at the coffee machine. 5 mins of waiting and we realised the lady was just cleaning the coffee machine and ignoring the queue of people waiting. Other staff had wandered past, but no-one thought it their job to serve anyone waiting. We decided to abandon stopping here and carried on to Olivia’s cafe up the road for cheaper drinks with better service. We shall not be stopping here again, especially not to eat as £8.95 for a meagre looking cheese & ham toastie is ridiculous.

Visited the evening of the solstice run, thought it was good value and the staff were lovely. It’s lovely inside and I would certainly visit again. A real asset.

I have been here before and really liked it but today it seemed to have changed. The two young girls who served us were very good and friendly. The coffee cakes and prices have gone up far too much. I really don’t think families could afford these prices. They don’t do small coffees now,(as they used to) only large. Not a very good selection of cakes which were extremely expensive. It was very hot and sunny out side but all the tables were in the sun although one had a pole but no umbrella! I will not be going again. I would rather go to Olivia’s down the road at the Outwoods. Someone else being served 15 minutes after us was complaining too about the prices and choices. We were told that the council have now taken over the cafe from a private business if it is true. If it is they need to look at things and change somethings/prices.

I have been here multiple times when taking a walk around Beacon Hill and often stop by for a drink and a toastie- which I love! Before I comment any further, I would just like to say how brilliant staff are: they are welcoming, friendly and can’t do enough for you- even when they’re rushed off there feet. However, recently I have NOT been impressed with the new menus and the prices. First of all, there are no children’s boxes/ options available meaning couples with children are no longer accommodated and this is something I liked. Secondly, the cans of fizzy drinks have been removed meaning there are no diet options available as the fentimens are all full of sugar. Thirdly, the prices of all drinks and food have rocketed in price making it unaffordable for many people- which is shame because many regulars like myself will be limiting the amount of times we come a week/ month! I don’t understand why you can only buy a large now in things either- there is just no choice what so ever! I’m writing this review because I just don’t know what’s going on with whoever’s made these decisions- you clearly DO NOT understand or value the community you serve. I would suggest reconsidering these changes- especially now you’ve got competition from Olivia’s down the road- especially with the new foot path being put in!

One of our favourite cafes, dog friendly and with wonderful staff. However, a bit of a shock to discover that prices for most items are going up in leaps and bounds. Breakfasts to rise from £7.95 to £9.50 (£1 extra for latte/cappuccino) single-size hot drinks like lattes are now £3.40 with smaller options no longer available. With the new footpath being constructed through to the Outwoods and competition from Olivia’s Cafe now seems an odd time to hike up the prices here so much. Such a shame. Hence rating from excellent (customer service) down to average (pricing).

A couple months ago I came here with my mum when it was snowing outside, and super busy. We managed to get a table indoors after a few minutes, and I managed to knock over my Hot chocolate. The waitress making drinks was so kind and came to bring me a new one within a few minutes- I hadn’t even realised she’d seen me spill it as I’d said nothing and just cleared it up. Thank you for your kindness as I was having a bad day!

Fantastic place to refresh after a walk. Food is very good quality, and good value for money. They deal so well with my partners allergies, switching things on her breakfast without any extra cost. Very child and dog friendly, and very clean despite welcoming our muddy boots! 😃

Absolutely fantastic. I have a food intolerance and was overwhelmed by the selection of different vegan foods and cakes on offer. My husband had one of the toasted sandwiches which he said was the best ever, so much filling and served on bloomer not your average sliced bread. I can highly recommend. All the staff were very helpful and polite. We also could sit inside dry and warm with out dogs.

We visited for the first time this morning and enjoyed an Americano coffee each and a bacon sandwich on granary bread. The sandwich was delicious and my wife commented that it was the best bacon sandwich she had ever had. We took a loyalty card… it won’t be the last time we come here!

Lovely little cafe. Probably too small for the size of the park and could do with being larger to accommodate. Great variety on the food and drink menu including seasonal specials and the staff were very friendly. The only downfall of our visit was the size of the hot drinks. We ordered gingerbread lattes with oat milk. Both £3.80 each and came in an extremely small takeaway coffee cup. They tasted delicious but not very good value for money. Higher prices than costa!!

Having walked through the beautiful avenues of trees a nice coffee would have been prefect. Unfortunately the coffee we were served was of poor quality and that’s being kind! The place itself is in need of a revamp too. We won’t return.
