Well I couldn’t have been more disappointed and ashamed today when I took my visiting daughter there for a light lunch. We ordered bacon Brie and cranberry toasted panini. It was just as well that I’d read the description because if I’d eaten it with my eyes closed I wouldn’t have been able to identify it by taste. What happened to the lovely tasty rashers and Brie thick enough to melt and drip? Wat we had was a toasted panini with wafer thin Brie, little pieces of chopped bacon and a smear of cranberry. Quite honestly it was a great disappointment. Would I go there again? Certainly not.

Location is great and Hamble is one of our favourite places to visit. I think the food prices are average but the quality and presentation of the food is lacking. A beef burger was ordered today and the burger was placed in a squashed bun. There was no lettuce or tomato added just a small burger placed in a plain bun. It didn’t look very appetising. Will enjoy coffee here again but will definitely eat somewhere else.

We have been going to the Beach Hut Café for about 6 years. It's a lovely place to sit and watch the boats and activity on the River Hamble, the upstairs seating area is lovely especially in the summer. We normally go for breakfast on Sunday morning but have had brunch/lunch too. The staff are all lovely, very polite and smiling. My only fault is that quite often the breakfast is just barely warm when it arrives, how hard is it to serve hot food?

Ordered two regular hot dogs with onions and chips plus a portion of onion rings. Drinks one tea and one coke. Food was not great at all, chips were dry luke warm and reheated not freshly cooked, the onion rings were undercooked and tea not very hot or nice. I suppose you get what you pay for and I’m afraid the prices reflect the quality of the food.

I ordered a strawberry frappe from the takeaway counter and it was in fact very good! They had an array of flavours to choose from, all of which looked very tempting! My drink was lovely and refreshing, everything I was looking for. I was not disappointed! They also offer a selection of hot food such as fish & chips which did catch my eye as well as ice creams. It’s situated in a very good position, overlooking the Marina and river. There are plenty of benches nearby where you can sit at, relax and enjoy the marvellous view. I would definitely return when in the area.

A super location and the food is decent enough. However, one has to queue for long periods if the place is busy. They seem to just have one person serving and then making drinks, there are enough staff to fill in and help out in other roles such as working the customer queue and making hot drinks, but they don't seem to manage this even though I saw 6 people behind the counter, and not all of them appeared to be occupied - this is poor management and is annoying for customers.I also noticed a person doing food prep who was not wearing any form of head covering, being as they had long hair and wore it loose, I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before someone finds hair in their food - This is a very basic hygiene issue.Having visited this cafe over a number of years, it seems that the employees have all changed and the cafe is not run as well as it used to be, as said, the queuing is very annoying and preventable, I'm also concerned over the food hygiene standards - if these people have any form of professional training, then loose hair when preparing food is obviously not important.

We visited Saturday morning following a walk & trip on the pink ferry. We waited about 15 mins to get served - 1 person on the till taking orders and making the drinks, while 2 others were doing 1 lot of washing up, one person folding napkins, 1 person cooking, and another wandering around.Apart from the person cooking staff all appeared very young, inexperienced, slow and not very well trained. They were polite enough though. Food took over 30mins and when arrived it wasn’t really worth the wait. Despite the time we queued and waited for food it really was not very busy at all, certainly less than 1/3 of the tables were occupied. We won’t be visiting again.

We visited today as we had walked around from Warsash with our dog early in the morning. I had read the recent reviews about this cafe but, as there were few people there, decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered toast and marmalade and a bacon sandwich with ‘well done bacon’ . What arrived was toast with apricot jam (well they were nearly the same colour) and a bacon sandwich which might have been shown the frying pan briefly. Why didn’t we complain? Well, being British, my wife ate the jam and I gave the bacon to the dog who seemed happy. It will clearly be our last visit but such a disappointment compared to what it used to be. If you cannot make a success of a superb setting with a good base of previous clients then perhaps you are in the wrong business.

Living in the village we like to support local businesses, however after our first 2 visits over a year ago we thought it was time to give the Beach Hut another try with visiting friends. Not only was the queue to order 30 minutes with the girl serving admitting it wasn’t that busy, the manager was clearly not helping and bossing his staff around. When ordered and trying to go outside with a tray full of drinks not only did one member of staff come through the door empty handed and let the door close behind him rather than helping me through the manager/owner blatantly walked between the door and I and did not help. The food service then took an additional 30 mins which is extreme for egg on toast x4, over 50 minutes from walking in to receiving food.

Arrived to outdoor tables covered in the previous guests’ leftovers - quite surprised there were any leftovers given how long they must have waited. Having worked in the service industry for 15 years, tried to be helpful and stacked everything to take inside - got to the door and had said door shut on me by exiting staff members. Thankfully a customer got up to open the door for me.Took menus and specials to our group and spent 35 minutes queuing to order. 40 minutes later food arrived, delivered by excellent, friendly young man - a credit to his parents, and clearly working hard.Food was fine - overpriced in my opinion, but perhaps we were biased by having to wait so long. This was our third attempt to patronise this place, and will certainly be our last. Absolutely abysmal, we waited for over an hour for lunch when it wasn’t even that busy. I’d say there were at least 10 empty tables throughout the whole site. We could hear the chef getting angrier and angrier in the background, like come on just get on with it. It’s unacceptable, I wouldn’t, at least recommend anyone coming here in the summer holidays. And then with 63 minutes so far waiting, the chef and a serving staff member have started shouting at each other and put the radio on loud, completely ridiculous.

I do like the menu, quite a wide choice, but the service is incredibly slow. 4 of us visited Friday afternoon, queued for 15 mins to place order so we got 2 drinks each and ordered food. Food was fine but took almost 1 HOUR to arrive. We'd all finished our drinks but no one could face queuing up again. We got ice creams from the ice cream section of the cafe. A standard 99 ice cream with a flake cost over £2, and the person making the ice creams had no gloves and handled the flakes and cones before and after handling money. Therefore the hygiene practice doesn't seem very good. Also the temperature of the ice cream didn't seem quite right as within two minutes it was completely melted, and we couldn't physically eat it fast enough without it dripping over our hands. Don’t get me wrong this is potentially a good little eaterie in a great location overlooking the harbour at Hamble with reasonably priced pay & display parking close by. The problem is it doesn’t really know what it wants to be! The name and most of the offering suggests it’s a café yet with red wine on the menu at £29+ per bottle (there are cheaper ones!) and Veuve Clicquot champagne at £55 per bottle you be forgiven for wondering if it’s a restaurant.

Went in here for a coffee and cake and it was very nice. Staff were friendly. Lovely views over the river. Well worth a try.

Great river views to look at whilst sitting in the sun with a cup of tea and cake. Good selection of food on the menu, cakes looked to be hand made and great drinks selection including alcohol. Will be back another sunny day!

A simple cafe near the river - has a roof top terrace - but as it's so hot at the moment (and there's no parasols up there) it was pretty empty.

Lots of venues to chose from and my friend, my daughter and I ended up right by the river front and found a table there. Weather was gorgeous, and not many umbrellas about either. Anyway we managed to find a menu and decided to all have panni’s. the que was quite long to order and pay. The guy in front of me wanted a beer but wasn’t allowed unless he had food too. I had an orange juice which was meant to be freshly squeezed but it came out of a carton! When we got the food it was good and tasted lovely. If you ask for tap water it comes warm and they do not give out jugs of it either. Then we found something swimming at the bottom of the glass. It was ok and may go again.

I visited with a friend last week when the selection of cake was poor, after deciding to opt for the scone the lady asked if we'd like it hot which I then said yes please. She then reluctantly said well I'll have to go out the back to do it, as if it was too much trouble. There were no manners and she was very unwelcoming. I came away feeling disappointed that I didnt spend my money on such overpriced items elsewhere! Saying that the scone itself was satisfying, just a shame about the poor service. Will not be returning

So - this place has 'Cafe' written on the side of the building - most people would put café as a venue where you would be able to purchase tea OR coffee maybe, along with a beer which is what I was looking forward too!

Terrible service, when they brought us coffee the whole cup was sticky and spilled. When I asked to refill the coffee in another cup, the employee simply took it and poured it into another cup! The same thing happened with another drink that I ordered, when I asked to at least wipe the cup, the employee began to be indignant and shout at me, asking 'what else should I do?' Extremely bad service, but the food is good so next time I will come less often

My husband and I booked for lunch, he had The Home run burger and sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and I had the crispy chicken sandwich and apple and berry crumble for dessert. The girls behind the bar were well presented, friendly and cheerful. We ordered our drinks and food together, it arrived in no time at all, it was plated nicely and the food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chips and onion rings were hot and crispy, not greasy at all. The desserts were also piping hot, and totally scrumptious. Sheila was our server today, she so warm and welcoming, really friendly but also professional in her approach. A credit to the company. We can’t wait to return.

Been trying to get through to them on the phone for 15 minutes as issue with an order. Phone just keeps on ringing or flips to fax machine. They chose not to answer the phone to deal with something so simple. Little bit of customer service can go a long way.
