Beach House and Diner in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Lovely atmosphere, great tunes and great vibes and the veggie food is absolutely delicious. We had the bang bang cauliflower which was completely banging! And the veggie shawarma which was equally delicious. One of my top 3 restaurant meals out EVER.

We are very confused about some of the reviews here and initially questioned if we were reviewing the same place! We were a group of 3 couples and were looking forward to a celebratory meal at 7.30 pm. We were placed at a table by a window but unfortunately the window was so dirty the beautiful sunset was obscured. This set the tone for the evening. We had to go to the bar for drinks which was a bit of a wait although the bar wasn’t busy. But that was mild compared to when we ordered our food. At 8.50 pm we still hadn’t had our food! We spoke to the lady running the restaurant who, whilst apologetic, gave the excuse that it was due to Cornwall going from the quiet season to the busy one. As one of us actually lived locally we could easily refute this! When the food eventually arrived, it was ok - the fish dishes were best. Two of us had sirloin steak which was a bit rough but we didn’t comment for fear of a further wait! It was disheartening to say the least, especially as 4 staff members were just loitering around their station. All in all, this could be a good venue if service upped its game and they valued their customers more. Such a terrible shame!

I've eaten at many places like most people..this is the first place that actually made me feel I could have a good sob! I'm local, live just half an hour away. Booked for a special Birthday celebration. Attracted by the idea of a fun vibe. Instead we felt ignored as though we were invisible. Sitting for absolutely ages for our food. To be honest I wish we had got up and walked out. Went past the point of hunger! On the whole the Staff and that includes the lady in charge, came across as total amateurs. We were informed that when the food came it would be "worth waiting for". My steak was tough, the chips like oven chips, the salad a measly slice of tomato and piece of lettuce. I wish they had rung to tell me they couldn't cope and cancelled our booking. I'd have appreciated that. As the person who Booked this place for very dear Friends, I was absolutely mortified . A special occasion ruined.

Wow...what a fabulous lunch..we arrived at lunchtime and was allocated a lovely table (with our Chihuahua) overlooking Widemouth Bay..menus were issued and drinks ordered...lots of locally sourced beverages which was good to see..my husband is a coeliac and requires a gluten free diet..these guys are all over it..so many gf options of amazing dishes..when the waitress took our order she started with 'are there any dietary requirements?' Which was music to our ears..we ordered a bowl of mussels served with chilli, ginger and lemongrass to start absolutely fabulous the flavours were amazing..for our main course my husband had the Porchetta stuffed with lemon butter and thyme served with creamy mashed potatoes and cabbage..straight out of the oven and beautiful..I ordered the Lemon sole with a lobster & crayfish bisque over crushed new potatoes with cabbage and topped with a langustine...stunning..these guys know how to cook..and the choice is incredible...thank you so much for a lovely lunch!...oh and the bathroom mirror is worth a visit if nothing else lol...Dont be put off by the kerb appeal..the food is outstanding..ty

Happen across this place whilst enjoying a, few days in the area over New Year. Panoramic view of the bay. Warm and friendly greeting by very attentive staff. Excellent food and ambience. Recommended

We have been here before and enjoyed every meal. Friendly staff. Really good food for new years eve, great chef in the kitchen especially as very busy. Excellent cocktails at reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again when we are staying in the area.

NYE dinner was excellent. Brilliant selection on shortened menu to allow focus on quality and taste and it certainly did that. Not your standard corporate delegated menu and this makes this place amazingly unique. Staff very friendly, comfortable chatting with guests and as you would expect it was full. Drink choices are again not standard brands but local ones and restaurant environment was bespoke and cosy. Best place in town in my opinion and will definitely be back

We ate at the restaurant for New Year’s Eve. Table at 6.45, we had 2 courses and had left by 7.40. The starters were promising. I had the haddock scotch egg and my wife had the mackerel. Both were good. The mains left a lot to be desired. I ordered the fillet of beef medium rare but it came out well done. It was accompanied by half a roasted parsnip, half a roast potato and a small dumpling. The beef was over done and for £35 you’d expect a bit more substance. My wife’s tuna fillet was cooked well but the ‘warm watercress and spring onion noodle salad’ was stone cold. For £25 it could have been better The goujons from the kids menu were good and my daughter enjoyed them. My other daughter ordered the pizza for £7.95. 2 pieces of glorified cheese on toast for £7.95 is not a meal. All in all I spent £131 in less than an hour and didn’t have much to tell for it. Disappointing as we have eaten there a couple of times before and it has been good.

Seek out their special menu nights and get a foodie treat. Every couple of months, they create a special evening when they let their chefs shine their creative lights. We loved the fishy special 7-course tasting menu. Highlights were the scallop ceviche and the Cornish Tuna, marinated and flash-fried, served with noodles and sesame seeds. The atmosphere is fun, informal, and local. The food is local produce prepared to shine.

Over the years been here quite a few times on our fourth visit this year, vowed it would be the last, staff ok but owner not so welcoming ! Booked a table for earlyish dinner for two, second time been shown to the worst table in the restaurant, right at the back in the corner next to a large noisy party. I refused and was happy to walk out, but reluctantly we were offered a table with a view of the beach etc told you can have it for an hour and fifteen minutes! Now the food is extremely good as with service like this I wouldn’t bother the cuisine is the only saving grace. Scruffy looking both internally and externally needs a major make over. Vowed that’s the last time I’m going there, other restaurants do it better, but the location is great and so is the food, but it lacks in so many other areas it’s got to be 3/10 score

Lovely restaurant with superb food with a great choice, very friendly staff, good atmosphere and spectacular views of sunset over North Cornwall. Can't fault it.

We rang here in a panic after the other nearby pub we had booked turned out to be a carvery and really not our atmosphere. They were packed but managed to squeeze us in. I had the Pad Thai which was amazing and packed with prawns and my friend had the shawarma which was delicious. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive. Made what could've been a disaster into a great night, just a shame I forgot to take any more pics

A lovely fish restaurant and a great place to eat good food, drink good wine and watch the sunset. The restaurant is right on the beach, so ideal for an after dinner stroll.

From the moment we entered the restaurant Bev and Sarah made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. The food was great, highly recommend the crab claws and pad thai. Special mention goes to the sticky toffee pudding. We loved it so much we came back the next day. Small menu where everything is homemade, cannot recommend the place enough. Good options for vegan/dairy free.

We live down the road so the break bar is perfect for a relaxed meal out. It really never disappoints. A really relaxed vibe, great staff, lovely food and fab drinks. Need I say more.

Went for global curry night. Choice of 4 curries from all over the world. I had green Thai chicken and it was delicious. There was a lovely cosy atmosphere and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend for a weekday night treat. PS Dessert (Sticky toffee pudding) and starters (poppadums with dips) were good too!

Rated 4 despite the lack of opening information. We were staying nearby and the Google opening times suggested it was open on Sundays, Mondays etc but we very quickly realised this was out of date. It's a cool place and I imagine in season is the place to be. We did finally make it on a Wednesday evening. Food was very expensive, good but not worth the price. I suspect prices are set at in-season levels. Could be much better out of season, just needs some effort.

Called in here for lunch on our way home & all ok can say is WOW! Food was amazing, service was amazing and the views outstanding!!

We called in as I’d read the reviews here. It didn’t disappoint. Excellent food and excellent service. Good value too. It was nice that the dog was welcome too. Hope to return before the end of our holiday!

We would never have found this place without TA. From the outside it doesn’t look up to much, but at the back it has a view to the sea through the dunes and a quaint seating area. The food though was really good and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked pretty good too. We had the chicken shawarma which came on a flatbread with hummus, salad and chips. It was fab! Good service too and a walk on the beach afterwards. Perfect!

Fantastic food and reasonably priced. We didn’t book but the friendly staff managed to fit us in and with 3 dogs. Pad Thai was excellent as was the lemon sole dish and accompanying wine.

Second visit ...last one was a year ago and the menu seemed unchanged since then. We were lucky to get a table...very last minute. It's a cute place, but we were sat in a very dark corner which desperately needs lightening up. Food was hit and miss. The mains were all fabulous, especially the Monkfish curry. Starters were good but desserts were a little disappointing....to order a creme brulee and it just come in a pot, no garnish or anything seemed strange. A little bit of fruit or some other garnish would have elevated it, made it special, and more fitting its cost. Cheeseboard was interesting but needed bigger bits of cheese! All in all its a cute, quirky place but it needs a lick of paint and the menu changing up a little..more veggie options for sure. It's a little expensive for what it is.

What a find this place is a little hidden but if you want sea views sunsets and fantastic food go here. Staff friendly and helpful always on the go. But this quirky tarsus is beautiful

Just got back from a weekend in widemouth bay. I was so glad I found this place, it’s perfect! The food was amazing, the staff are very friendly, the lady who I assume is the owner is so welcoming. Great surroundings too with an excellent view of the sunset. I wasn’t alone in my love of this place, I could hear the people on the tables around me also saying how lovely their food was. Great music too!

Had family dinner for 4 with a 15yr old son and 12 yr old vegetarian daughter. Not much on the menu for vegetarian. Otherwise it seemed very expensive but then it’s a captive audience in August. £150 ex tip.

Best meal of our 2 week break in Bude, I think somewhere on the website it says not to judge a book by its cover and this couldn't be more true here. A fantastic meal for 6 people, seafood and fish was incredibly fresh, service was attentive and informed. A great way to finish our trip. Thank you.

Food here was good however restaurant didn’t live up to expectations. When booking we were told all tables had a sea view however when we were seated we were right in the back of the restaurant which definitely didn’t have a sea view. We had to make quite a fuss to move and it turns out there was a table easily available. Whilst this one definitely had a sea view it was obscured by a clapped out caravan outside which definitely detracted. The restaurant prices were quite high however the restaurant itself was shabby and rough around the edges. The two didn’t really match and made for a bit of a disappointment. That being said the food was good.
