Stumbled across this hidden gem whilst walking along the front. Fab atmosphere with cool vibe and really great coffee (peaky blenders). Had the crab fries which were delicious although they stop serving food at 230pm so made it just in time. Service was great and friendly. Really great little business compared to the usual bigger names too.

Had the best day here yesterday. The chicken was 100 times better than Bok shop; and cheaper. Equally brilliant is The DJ (and his lady) who plays tune after tune after tune. Just when you think it can’t get any better you meet the owners and staff who make it even cooler than it already is. We come here as much as possible it’s our get away from our busy, crazy lives 💜💜💜

Great little spot, good food, plenty of options. Reasonably priced. Right on the beach, so good views. This was our second visit, we had the loaded crab fries, would recommend you try them

We visited Barista & The Shack at around 11.30am on a Sunday morning. My partner went up to order and asked for the crab fries which they had run out of. So he came back to me and we decided to order the sausage roll instead which had also run out. He then came back to me again and we settled on the chicken wings. It was only at this point that the lady serving informed him that they actually didn't have any food so we'd have to just have drinks. I don't know why she didn't start with that message instead of letting him run backward and forwards to our table! She was unnecessarily rude but no problem, we went a little further up to Goat Ledge and had a much friendlier experience!

Great coffee, great cakes, great location, friendly staff. A lovely atmosphere with good music too. Very popular place.

Wow , the new menu is awesome. Had the loaded crab fris the other day (stunning) and now just had the fried chicken with miso honey sauce , which was so juicy !!! Highly recommended

If you haven't been to Barista & the shack along Hastings seafront, you are missing out. This is a great location, with plenty of seating, including booth type areas. They serve hot drinks, great coffee by the 'perkyblenders' and alcoholic bevarges for those lazy summer days. They have a snack food menu, created by Kimberley Dukee. We tried the fried chicken in Gochujang flavour and Satay flavour and a camambert swirl, all were delicious. All the packaging is recyclable ♻️ supporting the environment, which we love! This is great find for passing by and grabbing a drink or sitting and enjoying the sea with a light snack

We had a lovey lunch here today, the peanut satay tapioca chicken pieces were amazing and so were the cheesy fries. Highly recommend for a yummy food and a chilled out vibe.

Great spot, lovely friendly staff. The sausages rolls were amazing abd the cinnamon bun......so good. Coffee was good too

Lovely owners and very chatty. Felt very welcome and love going there. Never been a fan of seafood but the crab fries where amazing !!! The coffee as well was the best thing I've ever tasted.

As close to being on the beach as you can get…make the most of this fantastic location and plan to stay for as long as you can…great coffee, great beer, ethically and locally sourced… and with the added bonus of regular DJs and live music.

Jeremy, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. Excellent coffee and food. Plenty of choices on the menu including vegan. Bacon and egg bap from the breakfast menu well worth a 5. Lovely views of the beach. Best place on the front to have a beer or wine on summers evening.

An amazing spot right near the beach. Very friendly staff. Had dirty fries and the most wonderful Olives that I could have eaten all night. I had a cocktail,Strawberry Daiquiri. Sitting in the sun with chilked music by DJ, it cant be beaten.

This is our go to place. Great ambiance, sounds and service. Tried their 2 types if dirty fries. I had the Mexican chilli ones with home-made salsa, plenty of Corriander, which I love, Guacamole and cheese. Delicious. Hubby had the Asian fusion with touch of chilli, Sesame seeds and Asian flavours all washed down with glass of red and pt of larger for himself. Love Jeremy and his family always have fun.

Stopped for a drink with the dogs. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Def be back for some lunch .

The best thing to do on Hastings sea front we had an such a good Time. the staff were very welcoming and pleasant the whole time.

The Beach Cafe does serve very good coffee, along with other drinks and a wide range of snacks. It describes itself as 'Perky Blenders'. It's a very nice place to hang about near the beach when refuelling. Seating areas are available opposite the service area.

Stopped at the Beach Cafe for breakfast. The cafe was being run by 1 man who was doing everything and was doing a great job. We had a BLT, fresh orange juice and a lovely flat white. Very good price and we were able to sit by the beach and look out across the beach and sea. We would highly recommend a stop here.

Always tempted to stop and get a Latte from here after a seaside walk or run. Love that they have Oatly milk!

Whatever time of day not many better places to watch the world go by whether it be coffee and a bacon roll or and evening drink with nibbles beach cafes friendly owner and great music selection makes it an excellent spot

Popped in for lunch we had a cheese and tomato toastie and a cheese and ham panini. Service was friendly and attentive, charming couple. Fantastic cup of tea, lunch arrived hot and prompt even though it was busy. Everything was very clean. Highly recommended.

A lovely suprise to find this place reopened.Jeremy & Janine made us and our dog Doug very welcome, a lovely family run business here.The bacon in our rolls were lovely thick rashers with a lovely flavour, and great to get a proper mug of tea too.Thanks for starting our day out with your lovely hospitality.Keep up the great work, see you all again soon.

Stopped here for a quick drink and a snack. Very happy with my cheesy chips order.. Chips were made of real potatoes.. a rare find these days and the cheese was nicely distributed through the chips not just sitting on the top.. would definitely return for more... yum...

Perfect location on a warm, sunny day. I had a bacon and egg bap whilst my mum had the poached eggs on toast with bubble and squeak; add a pot of tea for two and we had a delightful lunch overlooking the beach. The food was really tasty so clearly the ingredients were good quality. Looking forward to going back again and again.

Simple but does the job. Great place to chill. If you have a beach day it's nice not to have to leave the beach for a drink or snack. Staff are friendly.

Fuimos para el desayuno, esperaba pobre pero nos llevamos una agradable sorpresa cuando llegamos y un desayuno inglés completo no era como algo de grasienta cafetería joes. En tazas de té era, el lugar estaba limpio, bonito acabado. Hubiera sido perfecto si los huevos eran un poco menos grasa, pero no estuvo mal. Y quizás mejor en lugar de salchichas baratas como 6. 00 es más importante en el extremo superior de lo que cabría esperar para pagar. Volveré otro día, pero espero que mejor salchichas

Had a short break here as hadn't even noticed it before although you can actually go inside as well as sit outside The place is welcoming and the waitress/server was very helpful so would try here again

Fuimos allí como siempre parece ocupado pero luego hay otros cafés en la playa. . El personal está bien, no hay mucho donde elegir en la cafetería y un poco desgastado. Pedimos huevos revueltos sobre una tostada. Servicio de mesa, que está bien, pero la comida era horrible, parecía el huevo aguada y anémicos, mi hijo se negó a comer. A mitad tuvimos un perro únase a nosotros que se sentaba al lado de mi hijo esperando para ser alimentados. Esto resultó ser el perro personal! No volvería otra vez. . .

I was expecting tea In a plastic cup but it was so lovely to have a proper cup of hot tea and a great bacon sandwich, perfect after a long walk a long the beach. Beautiful view and friendly service.

visited and had a hot chocolate and cup of tea, the view is lovely looking out to the sea, also you can have a full meal if you wish to, well worth a visit after you have had a stroll on the seafront

Fui para el desayuno esta mañana, con un amigo y fue asqueroso.. todo era crudo y cubierto de grasa mi amigo tenía un tocino hamburguesas y patatas fritas, la hamburguesa estaba medio congelado las patatas fritas eran duras. Y el chef fue muy grosero cuando se acercó. Como mi desayuno, era repugnante lo único bueno era el café. La muchacha pobre haciendo todo el corriendo mientras el chef se alza en la puerta para no fumadores en su chef (sucio amarillo amarillos). Os aconsejo alojarse lejos de aquí era precioso hasta que mi visita de hoy. Así decepcionado

This place is in such a wonderful position right on the beach. The good points end there. Staff are beyond rude, and everything you receive is filthy. The plates the cups the glasses. It is utterly disgusting. I have never been back and never will. Worried I'll catch something.

We stopped off here after a 10 mile cycle ride. The staff were fine, the sea views were great but (unfortunatley) our coffees were fairly tasteless. Shame as we were going to order cooked breakfasts but decided to go elsewhere.

Lovely cafe, lovely staff and great location! I love to come here for a coffee, to sit outside and enjoy the sea view. The food is also great. Serve baps, breakfasts, tea/coffee, ice creams, cold drinks. Also fresh cakes, cookies and doughnuts. Bargain prices!

Visitamos la cafetería de la playa en domingo por la tarde estaba muy concurrido y el sol brillaba era un lugar perfecto para hacer una parada. Los niños estaban en la playa mientras teníamos una preciosa con leche, té y pasteles. El personal era haciendo un trabajo excelente, muy amable y educado. En general recomiendo, sin duda volveremos!!

Yo vivo localmente a la playa Café y a menudo han usado en mi camino a la ciudad. La vista siempre es maravilloso, y es bueno tener algo en el paseo marítimo de St Leonards por fin! Es un gran lugar para tomar una taza de té o café rápido, el personal es amable y como he dicho antes, la vista es siempre maravilloso. Los precios que se adaptan a todos los bolsillos.

This is a very welcome addition to what was a deserted and rundown section of the Sea Front Debs and Andy have transformed the place which is now a must visit. Food is sensibly priced and the cafe is now twinned with the nearby Beach Bistro an amazing and quirky transformation of the underground section of the promenade - super food in a unique all weather setting on St Leonards sea front

Enjoyed lovely views on a sunny Saturday on a vey busy day in Hastings and St Leonard's. Sat inside to get away from smokers on the huge deck overlooking the sea. Yes you had a small queue for bar orders, but the table was beautifully set up, very clean, smart tablecloths and linen. Food service (light lunch) was swift and charming. Seafood was delicious- we had prawns and a crab and avocado dish each. Toilets immaculate too. Would definitely return.

Came here for early lunch on Weds 9th September. It was gross. Ordered a bap and was told 15mins later whilst waiting, that they were out of baps, which seems ridiculous when it is one of the main offerings on the very limited menu. Then we saw a customer that had ordered after us get a bap served to him, obviously got preferential treatment. The bread that was offered instead was stale. The coffee was luke warm, the tea was vile, scummy, milk on the turn and black bits floating around in it that were not tea leaves. The chips when they finally turned up looked nice, hand cut, but they tasted disgusting, cooked in old fat that need changing. Before I'd tasted them, I went into the kiosk to ask for another pot of ketchup. You would've thought I'd asked the cook/owner to do a s**t on a plate and serve it with a flower in it. She just glared at me and reluctantly handed over a sachet. Shame, because it's a nice spot on the beach, but I wouldn't return if you paid me.

I enjoyed the view and the scenery of the Beach Cafe. When overlooking the sea things seem to matter less. So, although there is some faults with the cafe some can be forgiven. First and foremost this is a Beach Cafe ala to a Chiringuitos in Spain; no dress code, no formality and very relaxed. There is not an abundance of choice of food, nor drinks or ice creams but the staff are friendly which is always a bonus. I don't think i would visit in December but make the most of the Beach Cafe in the summer months.

Totally sympathise with the comments made by 'Sooo rude and no service'. We visited this cafe with our Grand-daughter, on 2nd August, in the afternoon. The small portion of cheesy chips were the worst my husband had ever eaten, the tea was only 'shown' a teabag, and we had waited 40 minutes for it to be served. Our Grand-daughter waited an hour for her order at the fish and chip cafe nearby which is owned by the same people. Thinking that it had been a one-off, we returned on 5th August for teas, hot chocolate and cakes. We took the cakes to our table ourselves, and then waited 50 minutes for the drinks! Obviously we had eaten the cakes by the time the drinks arrived. My husband had to put extra money in the parking meter in order for us to have the snacks! There was only one person bringing out the drinks and food items. They need to employ more staff in order to cope with the demand, especially at busy times, or rethink the organisational skills. We will NOT be making a third visit.

A sunny Saturday afternon and a stroll along the prom with family. We stopped at the Beach Bistro (owned by the Beach Cafe and Fish and Chips hut people).There were only two people working in the Bistro and alot of customers. I asked for 3 hot chocolates. The clearly overworked girl said I'd be better off going to the Beach Cafe next door as she didn't have time. So off I went. One of the owners was serving in the cafe. She, very rudely and dismissively, told me that she had a big order on (only 3 tables were occupied) and that if I really did want drinks I would have to wait at least 15 minutes (if I was lucky!) We've been to both places before and the owners were all sweetness and light and 'aren't we welcoming' types. Not on Saturday 25th July they weren't. The might have well said "**** off with your paltry order for just drinks".So we hiked to the White Rock Hotel....had 3 lovely hot chocolates sitting on the terrace.....polite and friendly staff (young men and women) who asked if we wanted water and treats for the dogs and said goodbye with huge smiles.Guess where we'll be going in future!

Had a great walk along the seafront from the old town and stopped here.Food and drink great sitting on the beach can be very windy.

A great relaxing place to catch a snack looking at the calming sea. Enjoy the sea air in hot or cold weather, wakes you up and hot food and drink to warm you up.

Open every day, rain or shine, great breakfasts; best fish finger bap ever. And the umbrellas really brighten up drab St Leonards. Sit and watch the pier being rebuilt.

We wished we had come here for breakfast instead of the hotel. Massive mugs of peppermint tea and lattes. French toast bacon sarnies muffins pastries. All put the hotel offerings to shame. And the best beach umbrellas this side of Maui!!!! Just opposite warrior square with a perfect view of the sea.

What a lovely spot to chill out with a coffee and a snack. Good basic snacks and a great spot. Love it.

The views from this cafe is excellent, it's right on the beach. It makes a good tea and coffee. However I have had a few issues with them. In general the cafe is what you expect from an very English Cafe and that is basically what you want and some times I have got that. However I have had about three visits out of my 10 or so times of having a full meal there that really did not live up to scratch. I have had small dry salmon, inedible jacket potato lunch, amongst other things. Most of the time the staff are friendly but some times are forgetful and grumpy when busy.I will still have tea and coffee here but I think I will leave the meals to other cafés in the area.

After a long walk,it was nice to find a spot on the seafront open and serving drinks. Lovely to be able to sit down so close to the beach and have a cuppa. Nothing special, plain and simple no nonsense cafe. Only criticism is staff need to be a bit more cheerful .

A lovely spot on the beach front with what I would have thought was a captive audience. It is very small - and there seemed to be a lot going on inside between the staff. The chairs and tables were scattered about - it looked inviting. I stood at the counter for a good few minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I was there despite three people being behind the counter. I ordered tea and coffee and went out to wait. The staff were serving food to other customers, the staff did not look happy and were plonking the food down in front of people. Ours came and my cup was filthy. I took it back and said I was sorry to be a pain but could I have another cup. One was handed to me without a word and the dirty one snatched away.The coffee was bitter and cold. the teapot was quite frankly, grubby. Such a shame as it really is in a lovely position.We won't walk past other establishments in future - I can't recommend this cafe.

When everything else was shut this little gem was open. What can be better than sitting out at the beach enjoying a nice and welcome break from the walk. If the rest of Hastings followed their example it would be greatly improved.

A very nice place to stop for a bite,great aspect, any closer to the sea and you will have to swim.Sit on the prom, enjoy a latte, or a tea, and watch the world go by, and it will not cost you a fortune.

We often stop of here for a pot of tea and absolutely love great tea very friendly staff and wonderful cheesy chips :) great to stop for a quick drink and chat as my little boy loves the beach and the little park, great place to sit if u don't wanna Spend loads of money in arcades, as u have the beach the park and the loo"s what more could u want on a summers day :)

This is a great spot for a cafe - practically on the beach. And unlike many beachside cafes they serve good quality tea and coffee including espressos, cappuccinos etc. Its lovely in the summer when the sun is shining but like the rest of the sea front can be a bit exposed when its windy. I would probably go more often if they invested in some windbreaks like a similar place in Brighton and Hove.

brilliant location, cheap but good quality drinks, this is a lovely addition to the seafront, the staff are always friendly. The seats are outside on the seafront halfway along the seafront which makes it a brilliant choice when you need a drink when out for a walk

Wow! when they were renovating the old toilet block at Warrior Sqare seafront we wondered what was happening. Well done!!!Out of the ashes appeared this oasis a watering hole, just in time for what turned out to be a brilliant summer and autumn. Tea served in big teapot, coffee made to perfection and now snacks/meals and Excellent value for money, to keep you going when you are on a nice walk or bike ride.Lovely ice lollies etc for when there are hot summer days too.Owners and staff are friendly even though they worked very long hours during the busy summer period, they still managed a smile and chat. Good luck, you all deserve to be successful and thankyou.We live in Hastings and know what choices are out there and we choose to sit there.

This is a very simple place but on a sunny day sitting under an umbrella with a latte watching the waves roll in and out it's a lovely little spot! Coffees and snacks served with a smile. Take your doggy for a walk along the prom and stop awhile here!
