Beach Cafe Bar in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

After a lovely day in St Ives we went to this marvellous cafe brilliant staff and lovely mocha and mum had a cup of tea and a lemon drizzle cake and dad had a cream tea we will come here again

Strolling along St Ives sea front we popped in to the Beach Cafe Bar. Both staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had a cream tea that was well presented and fresh. My wife had lemon drizzle cake and my son had a caramel mocca that were all lovely. A beautiful view across the harbour. Would very much recommend to people to visit.

The bagels here are amazing, the crepes are amazing, the cocktails are AMAZING. The staff are lovely and friendly, we was lucky to get a table due to how busy St Ives is. Overall great value for money

I was undecided whether to go with 3 or 4 stars but decided on 3 based on the slow service. Firstly, cafe has a great location (unless the nearby Fat Willy’s delivery van decides to park up first half hour in front of you, as it did in our case! ). Great for watching the naughty seagulls attack people for their ice creams!! Waited a while for order to be taken, ordered some drinks that came relatively quickly but food took quite a bit longer. The poor people next to us waited over half an hour, asked about their food and were told the order had been lost between the till and kitchen…. To be fair they did then get their food pretty fast. All in all the food and drinks were nice, shame service was slow but it’s a nice place with good views.

First time in the Beach Café and it was excellent. We've walked past it many a time but hadn't noticed it, as it is on the first floor. Great food, we had the Hake and Seabass, very friendly staff, Emma and Keana were serving that night and the view over St. Ive's bay were spectacular.

This cafe has perfect location as close to the beach and other shops. However the service was poor and the crepe was rubbery Overall was disappointed with the service and the prices on the menu Staff were not friendly

If you want great quality food and drink, with awesome service this is where you need to go! We came here as a family, on a cold rainy morning in St Ives. The staff are great and you can tell they are passionate about providing great service This will be our morning coffee spot for the remainder of our trip here!

My husband and I stopped here for coffee. We wanted to sit outside as the March weather was favourable. My husband went in to order our coffees and to politely ask if we could sit outside. He was told to go and sit down and they would come to us when they were ready. Seemed a bit odd as they could have taken the order for two small coffees from my husband at the counter but still, we sat outside, they came out and took our order and two okish coffees arrived. All good so far. However, when we finished, my husband had already gone back inside, up to the counter to pay. I stood up to put my Barbour coat on (there is a reason why I make a point of the brands!) picked up my Coach handbag and made to wait for my husband - not forgetting he’d gone in to pay - then a young waitress came running out saying “hang on have you paid?” I initially ignored her given my husband was inside doing just that but she said again “did you pay when you ordered, you need to pay”. I just looked at her and said “don’t be so ridiculous, my husband is inside now at the counter paying” at which point she apologised. Not sure that two well dressed 50+ year olds look like they can’t afford or want to pay for two small coffees. Major staff training required!!

Returned again and again; first stop for light lunch but went for drinks in the evening - delicious mulled wine and great cocktails. Staff are so friendly and willing to talk about St Ives and offer advice of where to go. Cannot recommend this place highly enough - will definitely go back when I am next in St Ives. Well done - wonderful place!

The waitress was the happiest person in St Ives and really made us feel welcome. The build a bagel concept is great and really make for a great breakfast on our way into the main town. Definitely worth a visit!

Probably the best place to stop for a drink on The Wharf, if only for the energy and experience of the front of house manager who makes this the best. And, that is not to lessen the support she has from her team of wonderful people who help to make this the best bar in St Ives.We had three memorable visits over the course of our weeks visit and will, when we go back to St Ives, go back here again, and again.Great drinks, great staff, great atmosphere……….. Love it.

We visited here in May and again this week in September. The service, food, view and staff are great. In the town itself you only have to look around at eateries to see that an awful lot are short of staff. Baring this in mind, I'm sure patience from us the paying public would be appreciated. By the time our holiday comes to an end we'll probably have popped in four times. This speaks for itself. The Beach Cafe Bar are doing a cracking job in these not so normal times.

Great coffee stop over looking the harbour. We were blown away by how cheap it was! Server lovely too. We didnt eat but everyones food around us looked fab.

This place is in a perfect spot for looking out to sea,people watching and admiring the views.The coffee isn’t nothing special.we asked 4 times the same waitress for white sugar ,she said she couldnt hear us (she was to busy looking around at other things !) Tables were outside and people were going to them, including us but was stopped as they weren’t in use...so these should of not been put out if people were not allowed to use some of the outside seating. .It was not relaxing at all...SOME staff were busy cleaning ,serving others not really bothered ...In fact we didn’t finish our drinks we paid and got up and left! There Seemed a faulse feeling about the place.

I have seen a few people mentioning bad customer service! First Of all, all hospitality have taken a really bad hit this year and then have been thrown into the holiday season out of covid restrictions! We have been twice now to this bar! The staff are fantastic very friendly on both visits and they do amazing cocktails, Dan is the man apart from the lovely girls who serve you. Please have a bit of respect for these guys ! We’ve all been put under pressure with covid , these guys are absolutely nailing it! Worth a visit. You also have to try the espresso martinis.

Stopped in for a quick drink. The waitress was very abrupt telling people not to sit on certain outside tables due to the rain showers and being ordered to queue, if you can't use the tables I suggest removing the chairs so there is no confusion, most people quite rightly left. I definitely won't be going there again, a shame really as the location is very good.

Popped in for a quick cuppa and a piece of cake . A table for 2 just inside watching the world go by and 2 and a half hours later ( a cocktail each and a bottle of wine between us) certainly a great way to spend our last afternoon in St Ives. Would highly recommend this place - thank you to a great bunch of staff.

Had a cream tea here today 10th September 2021 was dreadfu, 1 very small scone, was dry and the type you get out a pre pack from the supermarket, ordered a large hot chocolate, if that was a large I dread to think what a small is, slow service all round, waitress very loud and I in Your face, avoid if possible

Called in for a late night beer, waitress very friendly and helpful would definitely recommend a visit. Great views over the harbour.

Brilliant bar - the staff were so friendly and service was quick. Very reasonable prices for st Ives. Easy going vibes which good music. Great view of the harbour.

Family meal whilst on holiday, amazing evening, food and service faultless. We had a great table in the window with amazing views of St Ives bay. Well recommend

Visited BCB every day on our holiday as it’s one of the only places in st Ives you can go for a drink without either waiting for hours or having to book a month in advance this time of year. We didn’t wait more than 10 mins the whole week and the staff are so amazing. Friendly and polite even when rushed off their feet. We experienced times with lots of staff, and we saw times with full capacity and just one lady (blonde, super efficient and friendly you know who you are). Yet each night we went there appeared to be the bar owner there sat drinking red wine! He’s got a single member of staff rushed off her feet, queues of people and not enough staff to clean tables and get people seated, people waiting on drinks and waiting to order, but he’s sat there on his own chilling and relaxing. Not helping his staff! I’m sure he’s doing well for himself but felt sorry for the staff and not getting any help at all.

Given the current foreign travel situation we travelled to St Ives for our family holiday this year. Stumbled across Beach Cafe Bar on the first morning and it quickly became our regular breakfast stop. Amazingly attentive and friendly staff (even when we kept ordering more and more items!). Bacon sandwiches were particularly to die for and would highly recommend a breakfast ‘pudding’ in the form of a chocolate muffin! Defo will be back. Thanks team!

Rude member of staff ; lost my custom for good! Sadly the staff member has forgotten one thing: without customers you don’t have a job

It was a sodden rain soaked day, we had searched high and low for a cafe with tables available and stumbled up on the BCB, slight mistake perhaps. Not a fan of being called darlin at the best of times let alone by this slightly above legal decibel women. Upon looking at the menu given to us from the QR code we were rudely shut down “I don’t serve food”Sorry love but it’s your menu so not my fault. “Oh yes actually I’m doing cakes and sweets”We’re told there were no scones available despite 3 being on the shelf. Ordered one anyway and it arrived. Drinks were fine and food was fine in all fairness.But did you know, the owner/head waitress, is doing very well for herself and doesn’t need to check the prices of things she buys or ever check her bank balance….alright for some, and probably why people here have mentioned how expensive things are.We also got to hear about how she had stolen a member of staff from a neighbouring cafe. And how someone else she knew, possibly a staff member, wasn’t sure if he was straight or gay and was probably bi. People were stood outside in the rain being shouted at “we have no room left due to covid…..oh wait I’m lying we have space” This happened so many times. Bit like she was lying about the bloody scones as well. The other two women on the staff were kind and polite so this is no reflection on themI’ll probably come back though…oh wait, I’m lying, no I won’t.

We went here for breakfast a couple of times whilst in St Ives. The food and coffee was delicious. Build your own bagels were fantastic! The view is to die for and the lady in charge, sorry I don’t know your name, is amazing at her job! A real credit to the business. It was ridiculously busy in St Ives, everywhere was fully booked and queues to get a table were never ending. The lady in charge was brilliant, she handled the queue, found tables for people and never once made you feel rushed. She was happy to serve you just drinks if that’s what you wanted and every customer was treated with respect. She has a fabulous sense of humour and made everyone feel welcome. It was totally COVID secure. I would highly recommend.

Visited twice during our recent week in St Ives. The first time was impromptu but we were able to be accommodated. The second was booked in advance. Food and service on both occasions were excellent. We’ll definitely return on our next visit.

Waited outside for ages whilst the waitress walked past multiple times (doing nothing productive) no one returned with sugar for coffee and when I went in and asked for a sugar the lady behind the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional. As soon as I paid for the bill the waitress walked off - no thank you or goodbye. Terrible service. Terrible coffee. Dirty tables. Rude unhelpful staff. Avoid.

Lovely bar with an amazing view. Service was great all staff were extremely friendly and very knowledgable about what tonics should go with what gin. The staff worked really hard disinfecting tables between customers. But the toilets really need sorting out, they we’re never clean and smelt disgusting. It may be due to being unisex but the floor and toilet seats we constantly covered in urine. If it wasn’t for the toilets this would be a five star review.

Had delicious coffee and breakfast but the staff made the experience. The server handling orders and door was incredible!! So efficient and ensuring covid safety. Hope to come back on our next holiday!

Great service under pressure, it was a joy to watch the them work really friendly and well organised. Food delicious well done.

We came and this lady called Lauren was the nicest lady ever she got our two tables to be together and was the sweetest lady I have ever met. The drinks were amazing. Unfortunately my sister spilled it on me cos my dad told her to get something regardless it was sooo nice. We tipped her ten pounds - she deserved it.

We came for lunch and drinks, our server Chloe was amazing, and very attentive, serving us as quickly as she was able to while still being able to have a laugh. The food was great as well!

The Beach Cafe Bar is a ‘Must Place To Visit’. We’ve visited a few times for drinks this week, the staff were very efficient. A nice place to chill and ‘People watch’ or look out over the harbour whilst enjoying one or several of the drinks available.Tarquins Blackberry Gin and Tarquins Seadog Gin are our favourites, plus the St Ives Brewery ‘Meor IPA’ beer which is currently only in a bottle.

They ran out of bagels so had toast instead which would of been fine. They took over 20 minutes to bring out three toasties. They must of been running low on other things as well as I had the salmon and cream cheese toastie and it came out with hardly any cream cheese, toast was very dry. To top it all off, it came to almost £30.00 for three toasties and some drinks! The couple next to us weren't even told they had ran out of food until they were sat down waiting for 15 minutes. Poor food and service that day, price was shocking. There are plenty of other wonderful places along the sea front to enjoy instead and they won't charge you costly amounts for toast. I was really looking forward to it as it is a prime location but it is a waste.

We have visited this restaurant many times before but we were very disappointed with the change in menu and staff ! they had run out of bagels and brown bread so my scrambled eggs were 'presented' in a cheap toasted white bread sandwich. it was over cooked and very dry and i could not eat it. We waited for around 30 minutes for our sandwiches which were also overpriced. when i complained the head waitresses response was to become very aggressive. she did not attempt an apology but became very loud and overbearing. this has been our favourite place to eat in St Ives for several years but unfortunately we will not be returning. there are many better places to visit for food and drinks . Unfortunately the photographs shown here are from their previous menu !

We had just arrived in St.Ives and whilst out strolling, we dove in for a hot drink and we were quite taken with the food offerings too, so decided on a couple of Bagels. Glad we did. Very nice indeed. Took an image of my partner’s bagel. Mine was an English Breakfast bagel but I demolished it before anyone got the opportunity to snap it. Staff very friendly. Nice buzz about it. Nice view onto the harbour.

This was a great restaurant. The staff were friendly and the monkfish and duck fast roasted potatoes were amazing. The only negative was that the potatoes were a little too salty. This is probably due to our taste than the cooking. I wish them all the best through lockdown and hope to visit again in the near future.

Had drinks here several times during our stay, before a meal. Very pleasant. Staff very friendly as well.

Great breakfast you won’t be disappointed . Poached eggs, smoked salmon, mushrooms on toast washed down with latte (hubs added hollandaise sauce too) - great service and fab breakfast

Probably one of the best Bars on the Harbour with outdoor tables as well as indoors.They are managing Covid 19 well. On arrival your table is cleaned and you are requested to provide your name and a contact number. The menus for food or drink are available by scanning a barcode on your table. Chloe was in-charge and managing it like clockwork which was good. It is very popular and invariably you will have to wait for a table. The atmosphere is great and the views spectacular.Our drinks, Atlantic Pale Ale and in particular Tarquin’s Blackberry Gin were enjoyed by my wife.

Lovely staff, but this bar was far too crowded and tables and patrons too close together to feel safe.

Lovely cafe bar overlooking the beach and harbour. Extremely friendly staff, well organised and very clean. Popped in for a couple of cream teas that were absolutely lovely. Unfortunately couldn't get outside seating as it was so busy but inside was spacious, lovely presented and very clean. Highly recommended

The team seemed to be going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome even when queuing. The drinks were fantastic and an even better view. Would absolutely recommend!

Lovely place to put your feet up and enjoy an afternoon glass of wine or beer but don’t take the kids! Spent £20+ on a few of drinks and nibbles but nothing much on offer for the little ones. Our toddler had some Olives (luckily he loves them) but as there was little else we bought small tub of ice cream from along the road to keep him happy. We’d expected some common sense from the establishment particularly as we’d had established the limited options with them for a 3 year old. Yes we should have asked about giving him a small ice cream but perhaps they could stick a couple of tubs in the freezer or just put a sign up kids not welcome.As for the waitress, I’m sure she’ll say she was doing her job but a more rude waitress I have yet to meet!

Loved this place. We visited every night of our holiday. Well set up regarding covid etc. All the staff are bubbly and happy. You have to wait for a table you cant book one, but the most we waited was around 5 minutes. Fantastic cocktails, wonderful service and lively atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Once again absolutely fantastic time In St I'ves.The beach cafe is still the best place to relax and watch the world go by.The service is excellent the menu changed this year still limited but by no means has the quality suffered any.They undergoing a refurbishment which hopefully will be completed by the new year.Chloe and Lauren and the rest of the staff are a well oiled team its nice to see them at work.The wine floats are a great idea the new beers are a great addition.Once again thank you and see you soon.

Went there every morning for coffee and croissant. Staff work very hard especially Lauren who gave exceptional service.She was kind, polite and friendly.We watched her go out of her way to help a elderly frail lady and even helped her when she was leaving to cross the road.I would thoroughly recommend this cafe bar in the heart of St Ives Harbour.

We walked down to this lovely place every morning of our holiday for coffee and sometimes a pastry. Great place to sit and look at the sea and watch the people going by. Extremely friendly staff that take covid seriously, discinfecting tables as people leave and keeping tables apart. Very busy place but whoever is the waiter or waitress for the morning have everything under control. They have contactless menus, first time i've used one of these but very clever (if you have a phone with a camera). Great start to the day! Lovely coffee!

Enjoyed the food and service here. We had bagels by the sea and also got some drinks. The blonde girl who was working was very pleasant and polite despite being run off her feet and seeming to hold the service in the whole cafe up on her own. Covid measures were also taken very seriously which is good.

Lovely place to people watch in the sun with some lovely wine. Was busy and a short wait. Service was brilliant and the staff clearly work to a very high standard to wait on so many tables, whilst being polite and friendly, Our wines were lovely.

Awesome view over the harbour and out to the bay.Excellent service by Chloe and team. All social distance measures in place and effortlessly carried out. Inviting, friendly & speedy service.Do not seat yourself, as tables need cleaning and staff need to know who is where. Cannot fault this little gem on my first visit to this seaside town. Been before and will come again, it’s our favourite people watching spot! Come through the day for coffee and cake or in the evening for cocktails or the gin flight, got to sample different gins with mixers and aromatics, the espresso martini was delicious! They are now starting to do food again but hubby missed the oysters as they aren’t on menu at present. Staff are lovely and get you a table quickly, there are outdoor heaters if it’s a bit chilly. You can’t book tables you queue until one is available. Fab place with stunning view to watch the world go by.

Lovely little cafe and bar for a few drinks overlooking the beach. Very busy during the day but much easier to get a seat in the evening. Get an espresso martini, you won’t be disappointed!

Nice Cafe on the front of the bay. Food was nice. We felt so sorry for the staff, they worked so hard, the same staff was rushing about early morning till late night time. Very friendly, clean and tasty food. x

Stopped here on a busy day. Lovely staff, the lady running the cafe is great with customers and it's a great location for a rest. Also only £4.50 for a cream tea!

Used the place a few times over the week and always very good. Tables cleaned , good selection of drinks and hard working, pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend

A lovely little cafe with great views. We had a bagel and the waffles with fruit, plus some mimosas. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Came here just for a drink to pass the time in the daytime for a coffee and a bit of cake, ended up coming back in the evening. Didn’t have food (besides some millionaire’s shortbread, which was yummy) but the cocktails good and the drinks reasonably priced. The big seller was the service - everyone was great but Chloe was particularly fantastic, got you seated as quickly as possible and even in a really busy environment always took the time to check in on you or make a joke as she was whizzing past. Glad we found this place before we left!

Popped in here for a coffee, lovely coffee, great staff, very friendly, highly recommended. We will be back.

The absolutely perfect spot to watch the world go by. Delicious pilsner and fruit cider on draught. We visited every day, always greeted with a smile. Chloe in particular is exceptional at her job and keeping everything organised during these I’m sure very testing times. Whilst we didn’t partake, the cream teas, bagels and bakery items looked amazing too. First class all the way.

Popped in on our first night for a few drinks and returned every night. A comprehensive drinks menu and knowledgeable staff clearly have this place marked out as something special. With covid restrictions there is a wait at times but often short as the staff are able to accommodate quickly. Social distancing is maintained and it provides an excellent ambience to the backdrop of St Ives Harbour. The wine and gin flights are exceptional and well done and provide excellent value for money.

Visited here a couple of times whilst we were in St Ives. Good little bar on the harbour front with pretty views. The staff are really friendly and chatty which is great. Good place to stop for a quick drink. Sadly, they aren't doing food at the minute which is understandable however they are doing cakes!

Loved this place so much when I went a few years ago I thought I’d head back! It’s in a great location. Staff were really nice and the drinks they serve are lovely. Only slight let down was that they were not serving food and I completely understand why but their food is so great so I look forward to when they restart this again! Thanks.

After a walk on the beach at Hayle we stopped off in St Ives. Visited this bar for a quick drink and snacks and were impressed with the laid back, helpful staff and the selection of drinks and food available. Local bottled ales always get my vote. We sat outside with the hounds and to watch the world pass by. Would definitely return

We popped in hear for some drinks before our meal. The young girl was very friendly and helpful. It has a great position on the front looking over the harbour. We went back the next morning for a light breakfast snack before we set off. A great place.

We enjoyed the cocktail deal before dinner elsewhere. Cool surroundings and in sure in summer the atmosphere would be very welcoming but as the doors were kept open in February we moved on. Staff friendly but professional.

We had some cocktails and wine here. Drinks and snacks were all reasonably priced. Staff were friendly. A great spot for people watching too!

Wet and cold afternoon we settled in for a few drinks and lunch the place was freezing with the door open so my husband closed the door only to be shouted at by a rather rude woman so the door was opened we finished are drinks and left and went else where and spent are money where it was warm and the staff frendly. Won't be returning.

We popped in for a coffee on a visit to St Ives and it was lovely. The staff were so friendly and the coffee was delicious, and the treats were yummy. Would happily have sat around all day.

Me and my husband have been coming here for about 3 years now, and love it!When we arrive in St.Ives, our first port of call is this place! Chloe always greets us in such a brilliant friendly manner. The staff make this the place that it is. Fantastic!!

We happened upon here for a cup of coffee and it was such a nice vibe we ended up having a drink and yummy crab sandwiches. The place is lovely. Great staff - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Lovely selection of wines and tapas bites. Plus a few other food bits. Will be back.

Actually the word cafe doesn’t do this place justice it’s as good as any restaurant. It is a lovely classy and stylish little venue with great service and stunning food. The menu is tapas style with each plate costing £3-4, they also do crab and prawn sandwiches and cream teas. We had the salmon and cod croquettes and the Cornish Brie bruschetta. They food was beautifully presented and tasted sublime, our compliments to the chef. The bill with 2 glasses of wine and a tear was £27 for two, worth every penny, would definitely go again.

Only wanted a cup of tea but a very lively and personable young lady (sorry, didnt get names but I sense everyone was of a similar ilk) took the order and welcomed us like we were ordering dinner at the Savoy. The tea was piping hot and tasty, my wife's coffee equally as delightful.

Well last night in st Ives what a great holiday and have spent many night in the beach bar.I can honestly say the ladies and chap that work behind bar do an amazing job of keeping you served with drinks food and has to be the best value for money in town. The tapas we great and amazing gin and tonics.we just sat for hours watching people go by thanks and hopefully see you soon.

Amazing oysters and the best tapas. The waiting staff are helpful and really friendly, service was quick and the Dortmander pils beer is highly recommended.

We found this restaurant today. We absolutely loved it. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast today, porridge and the breakfast roll. Both were lovely. We are planning on returning several times whilst we are down here. Definitely worth a visit.

We were staying at a hotel, but called here a few times for evening drinks , watching the sunset and of course people.Nice ambience and cheerful efficient staff

My wife and I finally got reservations for our last night in St. Ives. The food was excellent and the service prompt and not intrusive. our server knew the menu and wine list very well and was able to construct a meal to accommodate a dairy intolerance.

We love this place and visit it over and over again, the staff are great, the food is great, the drinks are excellent, the location is perfect and all value for money, we cannot recommend it enough, well done guys and galls.

We were here this time last year and the year before and found the atmosphere and staff really great, along with its location.

Visited on the last day of our holiday. Could never get a table previously, which tells you something. We just had drinks and watched the world go by, but this is an excellent little cafe bar, with excellent staff. Would definitely return.

First thing. The waitress...wow you can see her personality, it just made the atmosphere to relaxing! Excellent service. Also great coffee!!

So on holiday in Cornwall and on our day trip to St Ives and after having a lovely walk through the town it was time for some lunch. After looking up and down the harbour at a few places we spot the Beach Cafe Bar.

We visited here twice during our visit to st ives and what a find it was! Fantastic friendly staff, with efficient service. The most recent negative review (who's picture I'm actually in haha) is a huge shame. I'm shocked by it as to be honest I never saw the staff stop and as you can see, I was there. Lol To leave such a harsh review over a slight oversight is incredibly unfair and damaging, you should always allow someone the chance to apologise and rectify the mistake not run to trip advisor!

Lovely place but not very relaxing...

Unfortunately wasn't even given an option to order and was seated over 20 mins waiting. Another customer approached the bar 15 mins after our arrival and was given what they requested. Would have been happy to go to the bar but was told to sit and wait for service upon arrival. Shame really. Our only bad experience in our 2 week holiday. It wasn't even busy

WOW, stumbled across this absolute gem of a place - fantastic atmosphere and ambience - lush wine (fab glasses) yummy smidgens of gorgeous food - out of this world cocktails - didn't want to leave. Highly recommended and will not disappoint - cannot wait to return - thank you

Stopped here for a drink on our way home to accommodation. Lovely local beer and cider and great place to sit and watch the world go by. Staff friendly and helpful and food looked very appealing.

Great location for a coffee stop. My wife had the hot chocolate and said was excellent. Coffee was pretty good too. Friendly service and superb location

Can’t comment on the food but we enjoyed our drinks (gin and tonics really nice, a good selection and good garnishes). We thought the waiting staff were really friendly.
