It looks tiny from the outside but the restaurant stretches back inside. The food was excellent, reasonably priced and the service cheerful and efficient. The premises were clean and well designed. I was so pleased we found this place!

Having read the positive reviews my partner and I decided to try the Deli for brunch. Whilst my partner's was fine mine was a complete let down. My poached eggs were rock hard, the mushrooms were swimming in the water from the poached eggs and the toast was soggy from the same water. And the tomato was almost raw. That said, the sausage and bacon were fine.

After a walk round the forest we were hungry and went in on spec. First impressions, friendly, spotlessly clean and good food choice. I had a quiche with 2 freshly prepped salads. OH had a massive cheese/ham ploughman's which I helped him to finish. It's obviously a very established place in sight of the Abbey and anyone visiting for the day as a tourist would find a genuine lovely spot to eat at.

This is a deceptive cafe as much bigger inside than you may think! Great coffee and huge range of cakes and scones including gluten free. Gluten free cherry cake superb! Would prefer it if you could be served at the table rather than queuing up to order but that is just a personal preference. Cafe sits near the abbey. Would return!

Had a very nice late lunch after a visit to the Abbey. There was a good choice of light meals. We ordered eggs Benedict which came with good quality, thickly sliced ham and runny poached eggs and a vegetarian all day breakfast that impressed our veggie friend. Everything is cooked in the open kitchen behind the counter and we didn’t wait too long for our order. The young women serving were friendly and cheerful despite having come to the end of a busy shift. It met our needs and exceeded expectations.

Are you indeed? well if you were the expert coffee connoisseur you claimed to be, having been highly trained, with years of experience, even working for Costa. you would know your coffee was diabolical. No one who has worked at Costa would pass that off as a flat white. You didn’t even take a moment to imagine where I may have been trained, had years of experience and worked when you asserted your authority on all things coffee. Lol.

Nice cafe but definitely not a deli unless you count a few rather dull jars of preserve. Good menu and some dishes (eggs benedict) very tasty but quiche was heavy and cold, salad a bit thin (but then veg difficult to get at the moment so will make allowances.) Service lacked a smile. But it isn't a deli, it's a cafe - which is disappointing.

Looked like a decent place to eat. The waitress was not particularly welcoming & somewhat blunt - perhaps should have left then. Sat outside and ordered two sandwiches and a Diet Pepsi which arrived warm with a glass containing one ice cube. The place was not very busy but after 30 minutes no food had arrived so decided to pay for the drink and cancelled the order. No real convincing apology or reason for delay was offered. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but think the management might at least suggest to staff to greet customers more pleasantly and at least offer a reason for the delay - it should not take 30 minutes to make two sandwiches with cold fillings!

After a lunch and tour around the beautiful Battle Abbey we thought we would take our Grandaughter for a ‘pre return to school treat.’She chose the Deli from the inviting looking exterior which is quaint and very fitting with the attractive High Street. We stood in the doorway waiting to be seated and were completely ignored. We were wearing full PPE masks but noticed the hand sanitiser at the door was empty. Just as we were about to turn away and go elsewhere we were greeted by an aggressive waitress and shown to a table where she was quick to inform us that they weren’t partaking in the Boris Eat for less scheme. Which didn’t worry us as we rarely see our granddaughter who lives far from us. It was 3 o’clock so plenty of time we thought for a lite bite or slice of cake. We sat and waited but no waitress came near us, we got up and asked for a menu and one was hastily slung on our table, again no one came to take our drinks order. Our grandaughter was getting paler and paler as the day was very hot and she gets embarrassed by confrontation and really didn’t want for us to get up to complain. As we waited we noticed that a lot of customers turned away as they too had been greeted by the same waitress saying that no hot food could be served, now the time was 3 p.m and we still had received no drinks. Eventually our two hot paninis plus 1 bottled drink and two coffees arrived. These again were abruptly put down upon our table with no cutlery, so up to the counter for a 3rd time my husband went. We were never brought a serviette and it isn’t easy for a child to eat a hot tuna panini with no serviette I can assure you,but she pleaded for us not to get up again for the 4th time. I’m not one to complain and to be fair there did seem to be one very nice dark haired lady who brought our drinks and seemed to be trained in some form of Customer Service. We paid up quickly, took a look into the garden , which seemed empty of customers then after over 1 hour and 15 mins in that Deli we walked up the High Street to the car park to undertake the 30 miles back to our home, sadly noticing that the shops we hoped to look into had shut anyway !

The coffee is fine even if service does take a while (8 minutes for two drinks). The cakes are also fine. Although, strangely the macaroons taste exactly (and look exactly - down to the design on the Macaroons) like the Mrs Crimble ones you can get at £2 a pack in Sainsburys? If that's by coincidence then that's incredible and whoever does the designs and bakes deserves a pay rise...if not then it's pretty sneaky.I wouldn't rush back but equally I wouldn't avoid it - just wouldn't get any food.

My second visit to the new premises which are very nice and relaxing. However I was disappointed with the cappuccino which tasted like warm frothy milk. I did ask the staff how many shots of coffee they put in and was told all their coffees have 1 shot. I asked for another shot for which I was expected to pay the price of an espresso £1.40. As there are no prices for coffee or tea displayed on the blackboard I wasn't aware how much the cappuccino was but did see that an extra shot was advertised at £0.50. Perhaps it would be helpful to make clear that coffees only contain 1 shot to avoid confusion or maybe advertise prices on blackboard behind counter for those customers who dont choose a seat and look at the menu first? Only a suggestion, not a complaint as the staff are very pleasant.

Very poor, staff rude and never got passed trying to ask for a piece of cheese from deli counter as they could not use the wite cutter! Only ordered this first as such a long wait for food in the cafe (I thought it would kill some time) but glad as it meant we just left without wasting our time or money.

Called into the newly opened Battle Deli & Coffee Shop on Thursday. Found it very cosy and welcoming on a damp morning.

We all know that businesses have to make money when selling a baked potato, even though it isn't really baked but microwaved. On a wintery day there’s nothing quite like it, but obviously my preference is the real thing, baked in an oven, delivering a crispy skin as a result, ooh! Ooh indeed, but you don’t get this with a microwaved spud and sadly these days, few eateries will offer a true baked jacket, preferring to opt for a quicker solution by microwaving, unfortunately this just creates a large boiled bland potato.

Last minute decision and so very glad we did! We met with the kids grandparents here and wow, loved it. - plenty of seating inside - seating outside - small play area for kids - the food can be snacks or a full meal - catered and understood really well re our daughters coeliac challenges with food and cross contamination - the breakfast was delicious, even at lunch time - we stayed even longer and then had cakes - the biggest slice of cake I’ve ever seen at the best price (had to box and take home) - lovely staff Of course there is also spa/food market, pots and plants, cards and gifts, furniture for sale and more. We had such a great time. Thank you so much Eve

We use cooden beach regularly as we like the venue but it is very over priced for both food and service and very hit and miss sometimes good sometimes poor usually when you take friends there .We had two large glasses of nice house wine (8.50per glass) we then had an egg mayo sandwhich shared it came with a small salad and that was it for 8.50 used to have coleslaw but no more,no problem as we ordered off the menu and knew what the price was however it stated bar service only but then put a service charge on when queried said had to stand as the food comes from the kitchen ,I think it is a shame as this is a nice venue but is very hit and miss and should not be for the high end price
