Since the male owner passed away the chip shop has gone down the toilet pan chips were rubbery and fish was always burnt can't wait for new chip shop to open and give them a try

Absolutely the worst over cooked burnt cod I have ever eaten. And when I say eaten. I had to pick the small amount of fish out of the worst batter ever, and leave moat of the batter. I will not eat from here ever again.

Employ idiots to serve, and you get a poor service. 35 minutes to get fush and chips and only 1 order in front. Terrible service. Too busy playing with family members rather than cooking food.

Ordered cod and chips,staff talking to friends outside,cod overcooked,definitely not going back there again !!!!

I orders a medium cod and chips and I can say that the medium cod was practically a large! It was delicious and the think ! The chips we perfect as chips go ! The service was amazing and the staff were lovely. ! Only downfall was parking, it was so busy outside. Would 100% go again !

Having had some of the worst fish and chips for many a year from a competitor in Hastings recently we visit Battersbys. The chips were excellent I have to say, not at all greasy, piping hot and fresh.My one complaint was the frankly terrible portion size. A medium portion of chips at £2.40 from memory had about 20 chips. Quality 10/10Value for money 1/10Come on nowadays it’s all about value for money and quality combined if you want customers to come back.

rude customer service from a young girl with lots of piercings and massive eyebrows. made my friend so nervous from nasty looks, she kept forgetting the order. no social distancing at all.

Thought I’d try them out as I live around the corner.I shan’t make the same mistake again. Big portions, not greasy but the chips were possibly the worst I’ve tasted locally and the cod and batter would have been sent back if I was in a restaurant.Never again

Tonight being Friday we decided on fish and chips. Always friendly staff. Freshly cooked, not greasy. Very good portions. Staff are always smiley and friendly.

We went to get an order for 6 people, the young nan serving was excellent, the same cannot be said for the person cooking as she showed little patience with him and rolled her eyes at him behind his back. If he is new this is surley not how to support him to get better!! He was better than the young girl serving who barely spoke a word.The food is excellent and freshly cooked and we enjoyed it.At £49 for 6 meals it is a little pricey but probably the same at any other fish and chip shop.For some reason they do not accept cards!!! Very odd in this day and age. Had to go to shop next door for cash machine and as this was out of order had to purchase something to get cash back.

I eat here on a regular basis, and I'm consistently satisfied with the quality of the food. Everything is cooked fresh, the shop is always spotless, and the staff are always friendly. (It's worth noting that if you have any requests, the staff will always listen. They can make sure the chips are handled carefully for gluten-free customers, and can cook the food according to your tastes.)

My local chippy, the staff are fantastic and always helpful and I love the food. Disregard any previous negative reviews, never had any problems here.

I have had cause not to go back before, but thought id try again, but that was a big mistake. Chips appeared to have been cooked more than once or the oils were dirty. Sausages were the same. A large portion of chips hardly were 'large'. This is a treat, and the experience just spoils it as you do not discover the state of the food until you get home. An evening tarnished,I just think the place serves up terrible food, and the portion sizes do not reflect the prices. Its worth driving a bit further to get decent fish and chips than to visit here again.

Absolutely excellent fish & chips, extremely fresh fish and lovely chips. Definitely one of the best fish & chip shops in Hastings & St Leonards and I’ve tried all of them!

We ordered a LARGE portion of chips, to take home. Paid £2.90.Photo attached, teaspoon for comparison. Chips lying flat on a 20cm×14cm tray. So disappointed...only weighed 366 grams. Poor portion size for a large in my opinion, and in comparison to other local chip shops where a regular portion is bigger.We're happy to just go to a different chippy now.

Very friendly staff. Always ring order through so it's ready for us to collect . Busy always which proves they are good fish and chips. Very generous size portions.

Would definitely NOT recommend this chippy. We gave them the benefit of doubt and tried them again on two different occations but still the chips were terrible as was the fish, we believe that the oils used are not changed daily or even weekly due to the taste of the food. Our friends and family will not use them again.

I don’t say this lightly, but these are the best fish and chips in town! Cooked freshly, perfect portion sizes, vast menu for non-fish eaters, friendly staff , very clean shop, what more could you ask for?

We have tried the food here a few times, but I have now stopped as we have a better chip shop that will now deliver so we aren’t held to ransom anymore.

The food is always good, the staff are pleasant and you can always have a laugh with them. My number one stop for fish n chips and scampi n chips.

Basically I went in there with my mate he wanted 12 saveloy sausages and a portion of chips but the girl who was working there told him to stop messing around the fool i think her name was lauran but she was alright but yes it was very good

Chips and sausage in batter where awful tasted horrid. Manager very grumpy. Think i may have got new member of staff very nice but looked terrified.

Staff very pleasant, food about average and a bit expensive.pay a bit more and go to the seafront Ron

Not impressed with the portion size of what is meant to be a large portion of chips,it would normally feed two adults and our 8 year old,not today,just about did my husband and child..

Miserable staff who just glare at you, food so much more expensive than better chip shops, burnt sausages and the curry sauce tasted like a pot of salt!!

We went here for chicken nuggets & chips twice, and two portions of chips, this order seemed to be a bit confusing for the girl behind the fryers as she forgot one portion of nuggets, she then promptly went to the freezer, picked up the nuggets with her hands, after handling money.... then threw them in the fryer. When I complained and asked for more to be cooked, the man I believe to be the owner asked if I wanted him to use tongs - should he even ask this question !!!!!! The girl then went on to have a good moan about me, in front of me, customer service is not , obviously, her forte !!!! I will say she seemed to be the only unprofessional one there as the others were o.k, but she seemed to get away with using her hands, so maybe they should have a health & hygiene check.

I had battered sausage, a normal sausage and chips it was close to closing time the chips was very crispy and my normal sausage was black and burnt and my battered sausage was greasy customer service was okay but overall average nothing special

Good value fish and chips. Nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Scampi was cooked to order but it didn't seem like the other bits had been stood for long. Well it was a Friday evening!

Me encantan las salchichas aquí ya que son korkers, que son las mejores las patatas fritas son geniales y la salsa curry es precioso también el servicio es amable y normalmente su sirve a pocos minutos

Probablemente el mejor pescado y tienda de chips en Hasting - y sin duda es el mejor nombre. La pena es un poco lejos para fokes ordinarios de Hastings.

El personal necesita algún tipo de formación en el servicio al cliente, ya que todo lo que hicimos fue hablar entre sí. La joven chico que nos servía ni siquiera tienen las habilidades sociales que nos en el ojo cuando hacer preguntas. La única razón por la que este lugar está todavía abierta es porque no hay ningún otro lugar a donde ir. La comida estaba bien, pero la Jumbo salchichas que me dieron era fría y negra, ya que había sido expuesto por probablemente durante horas.

Lovely fish,all cooked fresh..best scampi i've tasted..friendly staff..,great selection of kids meals,my son loves the cod chicken nuggets..

Clean quick no hassell you can phone ahead to order the food and pick it up any time requested ,good selection of other items such as pies,sassage,scampy

This Fish & Chip Takeaway is an average take away with the prices bring higher than average.The Service is only okay as the staff just want to chat amongst themselves instead of focussing on the customer.No this is not amongst the best in town, but is average at the very most.The chips are either undercooked and rather pale or over cooked and extremely crispy.There is no competition where this is located so that is why they do so well.If you have the time to go elsewhere then you would probably get a better meal and better deal.
