Baskerville's Coffee House in Maidstone

A far cry from a truckers café, this local coffee house offers a cosy seating area with a modest menu. The interior is well decorated. There is a standard selection of hot items with a range of cakes that also cater to vegan requirements. Parking is easily found on the road, or it's a walk away for local residents who tend to come here and socialise in small groups. Prices are what you would expect.

Dropped in this afternoon whilst on a dog walk. Lovely welcome, good coffee and hot chocolate. Excellent service, clean and good all round. My wife and I (and our dog) will be back.

Found this place on Tripadvisor, thought we'd try it out and happy we did! Both our food and drink was very tasty, generous portions, oat milk and other alternatives available. All the staff were very friendly, will definitely come back

Sad to see this place quiet. Personally for me, I think the staff left working here aren't the ones that should be working there. No nice energy like we have experienced before the change of owners.. The staff seem bored.. not getting a friendly vibe. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting in for food. Also, it's a shame to not see local businesses selling in their products in the shop anymore , reducing footfall . Each time I've been passed its empty. Big shame.

Although a tiny cafe makes up for it with an abundance of friendliness & helpfulness - especially from Kelly who appears to run it . Go there every couple of weeks now .

Went here for breakfast. Dog friendly cafe. Had the 'Hair of the Hound' full English breakfast which was ok. Wife had Gluton Free (GF bread was not good). Fast service and Friendly staff. Recommendations: clean the windows from the cobwebs and flys, not nice when your eating.

Popped in for a coffee and breakfast baguette a couple of times. Beautiful coffee, baguette was tasty and service was perfect, real friendly place. Highly recommend

We were visiting family from Scotland and found this place on trip advisor. It had a 5/5 rating so we decided to try and I can see why it has the rating it does! There were 3 of us today for afternoon tea and we each got our own little stand with lovely sandwiches and lots of delicious cakes! I am coelliac so cannot have any gluten but I also have a nut allergy which makes finding a suitable cafe very difficult especially for afternoon tea. The staff were fantastic and made sure there was no cross contamination of nuts or gluten. Any other afternoon teas I have had usually contained only one or two different cakes and no scones. This afternoon tea has lots of different home made cakes and also had two home made scones!!! It all looked amazing and tasted even better. We will definitely be back!

Lovely vegan breakfast 😀 Will certainly be going back again. Friendly staff and a great selection of vegan cakes too! Dog friendly also which always gets bonus points in my opinion! Highly recommend.

Just nipped in on the way to town as fancied a quick coffee, happy to say the staff were friendly, the coffee was great and had a delicious slice of Lemon cake too! what more could you want?!

I have to agree with one of the earlier posts, one of the worse breakfasts i have ever had as well. Went with friends and on the way out, we all looked at each other and agreed we would go else where in future… Shame as it use to be lovely once…..

Been here many a time and it just goes down hill each time. This time we were the only customers yet had to carry three hot drinks from the till (where there was no where to put them down) outside to our table with no tray and no assistance. The service wasn't particularly friendly or attentive. I needed to use the customer toilet which was grim to put it politely; sink taps didn't work properly, the whole toilet was filthy and there was no where to dry my hands after I'd held the swivelling cold sink tap in place to try and get it to turn on. Highly disappointing and wouldn't recommend.

I always have a nice time when visiting this coffee shop with my little dog. They have great vegan options and the staff are friendly. Prices are very reasonable. The only thing it’s missing is some music and maybe a sofa or armchair seating table!

Surprised at the odd few negative reviews for Baskervilles...especially those mentioning quality of the food - as we found it to be quite the opposite! Lovely, and charming little place - great coffee, and the breakfast was fresh and tasty, with a delicious slice of cake. The staff were polite and friendly, and we will definitely be back with the friends and family we have recommended Baskervilles to.

Visited for afternoon tea and was left disappointed. The quality of the selection was poor, and I don't think anything was homemade, bar the sandwich. Just four small finger sandwiches per person was underwhelming. For the price I would have expected more. From looking at previous reviews it really does look like we (and our dog) have been left short changed. We've seen homemade flapjacks and sausage rolls posted on google; nothing on our plate. Our doggy afternoon tea looked great, but again it looks like plenty more of a selection was available for others. Dated decor and in need of a facelift. We came with high expectations and feel there is real opportunity with this cafe, but left disappointed.

Very disappointed! It’s like we went to a completely different place than everyone else who left these great reviews. We booked for 1pm and had confirmation to say they look forward to seeing us. So far so great! Then we got there… The waitress or manager whoever she was.. straight off the bat was acting as if us coming was an inconvenience constantly making comments about the time saying how her colleague should never have booked us in at 1pm and that we need to hurry up and order etc.. made me feel uncomfortable straight off the bat. Then at 1:30pm she VERY RUDELY started moving around all the tables and scraping the chairs along the floor sooo loudly it was ridiculous completely off putting I couldn’t even hear myself think!! Not one attempt to LIFT them or apologise for the ruckus.. nothing. At 1:40 she got the mop out and by that point my partner and I were soo annoyed we went outside in the cold and rain to eat the rest of our food there because of how horrible she made the environment inside. Really really disappointed. She lacked any sort of awareness of us - honestly couldn’t believe it worst dining experience ever. You need to learn some basic skills because what we got yesterday was complexly unacceptable and clearly from the reviews isn’t the normal so I don’t know what’s gotten into you but sort it out quickly. Will NEVER visit again and will tell all my friends and family to give this place a miss too - unless they also want to be treated like inconveniences.

Had a private event here with afternoon tea for a family hen do. Right from booking everyone was so helpful and friendly and couldn’t do anything more for us. The food was delicious, the set up was lovely, staff were so friendly. It was such an amazing day and the personalised biscuits/cupcakes were such an amazing extra touch. Thank you for making it such a wonderful afternoon.

This café is so cute! The best milkshake in town! I had the pancakes, they were so soft & delicious. We bought food to go, to enjoy later as well. Can’t wait to go back to enjoy afternoon tea & a fair priced bottle of Prosecco!

Nice breakfast. I had the Eggs Florentine, now I am fussy when it comes to hollandaise and this was slightly too mayoee for me, however the poached eggs were done nicely and the bacon was excellent. Great cup of vanilla decaff latte, thanks for catering for non caffeiners! I would come again. I highly recommend this if you love the combination of breakfast foods a doggie pics.

Took my granddaughters to an organised cupcake/cookie decorating event for halloween. They had such fun and they got to take them home in a box for mum & dad to see. Well organised event with lunch included. Hope you will do more like this.

We all had a lovely afternoon tea at Baskervilles Coffee House. The traditional tea had a good selection of savoury and sweet treats. The child's tea also had a good selection, having changed the sandwich fillings to known favourites. Our dog certainly enjoyed her afternoon tea too and it was great to be able to give her something designed for her instead of snuffling our sausage rolls. The staff were really happy, polite and chatty. This is a wonderful little coffee shop and a great place to visit if you want to sit with your dog.

We came down from Suffolk to meet friends and stopped in the Holiday inn. We wanted breakfast and this place was ideal. Coffee excellent food excellent I had eggs florentine but asked for additional bacon, poached eggs done correctly which can be a challenge. Would recommend. Situated on a small shopping precinct just of the main road. Parking a bit of a challenge otherwise recommend.

I found this place on Happy Cow and was absolutely blown away by the food and the friendliness of the staff. I had avocado on toast; £6.50 is a reasonable price for normal avocado on toast but I was served two generous slices of delicious toast, with loads of crushed avocado, topped with a variety of seeds and with the addition of a balsamic glaze on the plate. My daughter had eggs florentine which is her favourite dish, and ate every single morsel. My only critique is that you are in Maidstone and I live in Plymouth so can’t visit very often, what I wouldn’t do for a cafe like this near me! If you are lucky enough to live near this cafe, take a visit, with outside seating and ample parking outside of the centre it’s a wonderful place to meet for breakfast or lunch. Thank you so much Baskerville coffee house. I wish I had taken a photo of the food, it was also absolutely beautiful as well as super tasty!

What an incredible coffee shop, with amazing food and really kind, friendly staff. The afternoon tea was really well put together and tasted amazing!!! Dog friendly so the pooch can be with you inside or outside. Also you can take some of the food you don't manage to eat away with you (as they were fab portions). Would recommend and we'll definitely be back. What a lovely atmosphere you've created.

I have come here on numerous occasions either to grab a coffee to go or for a wonderful afternoon tea, the ladies always serve the best coffee and cakes! Victoria sponge is my new favourite! Best one I’ve ever had, everything tastes homemade and fresh, and the service is always outstanding, warm and friendly! Deserves more than 5 stars!

I've visited here on a few occasions, it really is a hidden gem in Maidstone. Food is great, staff are very friendly and everything is reasonably priced. Added bonus of getting to see some lovely doggos!

We had a Fantastic lunch :) (me being vegan/vegetarian and my brother being a meat eater) ~ this cafe catered perfectly for both our needs! Lovely coffee with plenty of milk alternatives to choose from. A delicious toasted sandwich and a smoothie! - all freshly made. Tonnes of choices of handmade sweet treats, pastries, cakes. Great place, cheap prices, friendly staff, good vibes, lovely food, also dog friendly ~ it made my day seeing dogs eating their puppuccinos :) so cute! We Definitely want to come back and try the morning breakfast menu next time.

We dropped in yesterday for a spot of lunch with the doggo. Not very often you find dog friendly establishments, so will support them whenever I can. The restaurant was clean, and welcoming. Nicely decorated with some lovely items available for purchase. The shelves were amazing ! We were spoken to as soon as we walked in and the staff were friendly. Nothing was to much trouble. My very fussy son loved his soup, and the bread served with it was lovely and soft. Lots of doggos were there, and they all got to say hello. Thank you and we will be back again :)

We had a fabulous time today, from the moment we walked in we were so welcomed. Our dogs were presented with bowls of Puppacinos and sausages while we enjoyed a fantastic Full English breakfast. Such a warm atmosphere, so dog friendly, couldn't do enough for you. It was very popular there and tables were getting booked, we can't wait to go back again!

Small ground floor cafe with inside and outdoor tables, dogs most welcome, with their own food menu and free puppacino for your puppy to drink. Adults and children also welcome. Dog treats and cakes for your best friend, well worth a visit, wheelchair friendly, free parking to the rear only a small area. Street parking is tight as a primary school is to the rear and is a residential area.

Just been here with my two boys for the first time and wow, what an experience! The food was absolutely fantastic, by far the best Avocado on toast I’ve ever had! The service by the team was just as good! Highly recommend this little gem!

Bacon, Brie and Chilli sauce sandwich for £4.20 wasn't worth anywhere near that much. Paid less in London for more! Flat white was not great either and was bitter. Shame as staff were lovely and is a really nice looking place.
