Had an absolutely delicious cheddar and onion chutney sandwich, served by the most wonderful and welcoming staff!! A lovely, filling lunch, with a friendly atmosphere. Whether you are here to sit in or takeaway, the food is always scrumptious!!!

I live in Cheriton and had seen Basil’s from the car or bus whilst heading into Folkestone. I dropped my car into a garage in Cheriton this morning and decided to find somewhere for a cup of tea whilst waiting for my car to be ready. Strolling down the road, I came across Basil’s, having just opened for the day. I was greeted by the owner, Michelle, lovely lady, very passionate about her business and the produce she sells and serves. This place is a little gem, selling fresh quality local produce, bread, meat, cheeses, wine, freshly made sandwiches, paninis, cakes, to name just a few. I will definitely be returning to sample more of the goods on offer. If you’ve not been, I’d suggest you do. A lovely little place I wish I’d found before.

Lovely evening sharing a platter of cheese and meats. Great selection of beers, cider and wine. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely be returning.

We were at first happy to find what looks like a nice cafe on Cheriton Road, in an area where there are very few nice cafes. It started off as an okay experience but rapidly degenerated due to poor customer service. When brought the bacon, just as the staff member was walking away, one of the bacon strips fell on the ground. Okay, maybe this is entirely customers fault, but in a situation like this most restaurants would at least offer to replace it or offer some gesture of sympathy. However in this case the staff member looked, saw what had happened and then turned around and walked away. Then I ordered a chocolate shake but but I was served some kind of fancier shake with chocolate bits. When I went to pay, I was charged extra. When I questioned this (in a very mild and polite manner) the staff (the owner, I believe) started arguing about it, saying "I've never had chocolate syrup!" and "the sign is clear" (as she pointed out the unclear sign). A chocolate shake is probably the most classic type of milkshake. How is the customer supposed to know otherwise? I could see that getting the extra pound was really important to them and I had no desire to stand arguing about such a small matter, so I paid and left without another word. So, not sure what happened here: Maybe they were having a bad day? Maybe they the cafe is on the rocks given the apparent lack of customers? In any case the experience really put us off going there again. I felt sort of embarassed on their behalf for this behaviour. It's very disappointing when the owners of a place like this don't have a friendlier attitude. The whole attitude left a sour taste. So excuse me for leaving a negative review but this was my actual experience. I trust everyone else who goes here will have better luck.

Excellent breakfast, quality ingredients and very well cooked. Very friendly service. Deserves to succeed.

We’ve been for lunch twice in the past couple of weeks and both times we have had good food and coffee in a pleasant atmosphere. The toasties, panini and fresh sandwiches are all very tasty. Haven’t tried any of the deli stuff yet but will do no doubt.

Michelle is bossing lockdown 2.0 with a takeaway offer. Ordered my lunch which was ready in less than 10 minutes to collect. Tasty, good quality ingredients always served with a smile. There is also a small but very good offer of Deli items, pickles and jams. Strawberry is my favourite.

just a few tables inside, with more outdoor seating ,for when it’s not raining. Love that it has a teeny deli ..a nice range of cheese, meats and gluten free pastas, oils and condiments. Small selection of Fresh local produce. Clearly needs locals to support this. I hope it thrives. Friendly, efficient service in a clean cafe. Lovely selection of breakfast choices...including vegetarian and vegan options. I didn’t notice/ask for gluten free options as I had the popular sourdough. Def eat here again. Nice coffee. Parked easily outside on road for free.

Very friendly service from the staff at this clean and bright venue. Decent menu , lovely coffee. Ideal for a pit stop whilst shopping in Cheriton High Street.

Always friendly faces, always welcoming and a wonderful selection of food for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans! Basil’s is a wonderful place for breakfast/lunch. A true hidden gem!

Super little cafe serving excellent fresh breakfasts ,try the eggs with back pudding! Great pancakes and fruit option yor lunch. Quality coffee and helpful friendly staff and owner. We've been regulars a while and will keep coming back.

The food was amazing, lovely and very delicious as I have ever tried in my whole life. The food was very decorated and I recommend you to have the English breakfast. Hope to come again soon.

Upon visiting basils sandwich bar, the mood was very hectic, and immediately imposed a bad vibe before I had even sat down. The staff seemed very rushed and stressed, already busy, made worse by the chef almost shouting at her staff! The food was over cooked and almost soggy, the only thing nice about my meal being the eggs. I won’t be visiting again, the management clearly needs work...

I have been twice now, to this lovely cafe for breakfast. The food is truly delicious, well cooked, colourful and tasty. The menu is imaginative, particularly a good choice of vegetarian meals. The only negative is the cafe is small, with only a few tables. I think that with a few changes the eating space could be used better. Lovely friendly staff a real treat.

Lovely little sandwich shop. Great hot chocolate (I’m pretty fussy on that front and it passed with flying colours!). Friendly service, will be back soon!

My sister and i came upon 'Basil's Sandwich Bar' by accident really.From the outside it looked really inviting & had lots of customers who all looked very happy!The sandwiches we chose were the deli ploughman & the brie and cranberry...Fabulous and huge! Stuffed to the gills with fresh, crispy ingredients.Excellent varied, unusual menu (not just sandwiches) catering for vegetarians and meat eaters! In fact you find yourself taking ages to decide what to have because there is so much choice.I know this is going to sound completely naff, but honestly the skinny cappuccino was the best i've ever had!Maybe not the cheapest in town,(or the biggest) but i usually find you get what you pay for!I will definitely be returning.A real hidden gem!

Popped in here for coffee and a sandwich at lunchtime today - both of which were very nice, but service v slow. Our coffee came quickly but our sandwiches did take a while - and while it was busy it wasn’t packed. I appreciate everything is made to order but we had more or less finished our drinks by the time lunch arrived.

Basils never disappoints. It has a friendly atmosphere and the food is fresh and delicious and the coffee is the best on this area

This gem of an eatery on the Cheriton Rd has really surprised us. The team are delightful,polite and knowledgeable. The food quality is excellent and the menu comprehensive by that i mean there is a choice of eggs for example and modern takes on breakfast dishes. So. I had poached eggs on sourdough with pine nuts spinach and tomatoes swli iois. My only gripe - wgga a little overcooked.MY husband had a full English - variations taken without batting an eyelid - superb, herby sauaage. The coffee is fullbodied and served in generous cups and saucers (too big can actually make you feel like you're swilling in coffee). Lovely earthenware crockery.Good background music (was it a vintage music channel?).Thoughtful touch - the blind lowered to make us more comfortable without even asking.Enough for now. Great sandwiches and fantastic coffe which I have been struggling to find locally, service is friendly and quick, it’s now a frequent lunchtime haunt.

This i an experience that not only tickles the taste buds but reminds you of how things used to be when things were not so commercial and impersonal. From the minute you walk into this outlet, you are likely to get a sense of a satisfaction from the ambience and natural wholesome Village feel of the place without the feel of being an outsider. Having experienced many Food locations in my travels, this one will be up there with the best of them. Good Wholesome food with a menu for both Meaties and Veggies topped with plenty of Equally wholesome environment. Extra bonus is the business shows many signs of being environmentally thoughtful in both sourcing and minimum non recyclable wastage. Just had a full English breakfast,one of the best I’ve had. Lovely Staff, and always very helpful. Lucky for me I live very close, but not much help with my weight!

Seeing the good ratings on Trip Advisor, we decided to try this cafe for a late breakfast. Despite the unassuming exterior, inside it is attractively decorated, and the staff were very welcoming.

Best cafe in Cheriton, my partner and I breakfast or lunch here a bit. The owner and her staff are superb, food is cooked to order and as a result fresh and well delivered. Only improvement would be if it was a bit bigger! Try the veggie breakfast with a proper sausage , awesome!

Good bacon sandwiches. Bread is nice and thick and the bacon is cooked as requested. That said, £3.20 for a bacon butty is on the expensive side...

My cousin & I visited with our young babies and we were made to feel welcome & comfortable (which can be rare eating out these days!)

We’re new to the area and are still learning about what’s available. Basil’s is certainly going to be a firm favourite. Delicious coffee, very friendly staff, the cakes look delicious and I could eat everything off the menu. Cafe is lovely and bright and feels welcoming. Can’t wait to try breakfast

Wonderful food, so many options available if you’re vegan/veggie!

Been here a few times now and must say everything I have tried is always delicious & freshly cooked. The American pancake stack with bacon & scrambled egg is amazing and definitely a breakfast/brunch favourite for me. The coronation chicken is the best I've tasted freshly made and not sickly like other places I've tried. Lovely coffee and they offer meal deals if that is what you are looking for. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful and if you are stuck on what to order from the menu they are good at making a recommendation.

Popped in here with my aunt for an early lunch, we both had a delicious vegan chunky sandwich and smooth coffee, one with soya milk. friendly service, well organised and clean, menu looked good, beautiful artwork on display . Shall definatly be back to try something else on the menu.

I've been in a few times now after popping in for a late lunch with a work colleague a couple of months ago. Nigel and Michelle are lovely, friendly people and their enthusiasm for the quality of the food they serve is matched by their service which is excellent. Genuinely tasty, delicious food. Basil's should be the #1 choice for breakfast & lunch locally. The bacon baguette I just ate was fabulous!

The food is lovely and the only slightly negative thing is the comical waiter. It is like it's their opening day, he dithers, forgets parts of the order, serves people in the wrong order.

I had a lovely well cooked breakfast and the service was great. Definitely worth a visit if in the Folkstone/Cheriton area.

The staff were very friendly and professional and provided a good menu and excellent service. The food was great and I really enjoyed the coffee.

We tried Basil's café a few weeks ago for their breakfast club. We hadn't been in there before but thought we'd try out their breakfast and we were not disappointed. Virtually everything they offer is locally sourced and produced (where possible) which was quite appealing to us.

Open early very friendly fabulous coffee and home made delicious cakes. So nice to find such a friendly welcoming place in cheriton

Always pop in when in town and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and great food in a lovely atmosphere. Drinks made with care and has a wide selection of food. Open sandwiches were a nice touch and the food is excellent. For service with a smile and great food and drink, I would thoroughly recommend!

We love this place and visit at least once a week. It's such a lovely atmosphere and the food is really nice. Go once and you'll become a regular!

Found this place by mistake and am now a regular. The food is wonderful, the service is friendly, and my husband is obsessed with their hot chocolate! They've just started a monthly breakfast club on a Saturday and that was tasty too. Highly recommended!
