Barranco Lounge in South Gloucestershire

1st time visiting this place. I ordered the burger which was on the small side with a side of chips that were also on the small side As it was a Monday, it came with a free dessert ( this slightly made up for the disappointing main) £16.50 for a “Diablo burger” which was greasy and small. Not for me, I wouldn’t return. The calamari as a side was tasteless but cooked well

Great atmosphere for an out of town restaurant. The food is lovely, especially the tapas. Lots of parking available.

31 year old partner gets asked for ID for a glass of wine with her meal ten minutes after she gets given it, she doesn’t carry ID so has it taken off her after she had been drinking it for ten minutes. To the owner’s response - I understand Challenge 25 just fine thanks, try utilising it at the point of sale next time, or is it common practise to give people time to neck their drinks before being challenged??

We had a lovely breakfast, served by a very polite team. Only real negative was how cold it was in the restaurant.

Busy due to some Christmas Parties. But I did not have a long wait for a table. Had soup and half a panini. Both very tasty

Have been to many Lounge venues across the country and whilst none have set the world alight on any level it usually evens up with an all round good experience. This venue unfortunately bucks the trend with basic avoidable errors, which add to a frustrating dining experience. Having been let down in the morning with a previous booking (Not Barranco Lounge fault!) I attempted to book a table for an averagely small party of 6. With a booking system that doesn’t cater for same day bookings (again, against the norm of most venues) I called first thing to enquire about availability. Advised it wouldn’t be possible to book for the same day, but was assured id have no issue getting a table at the time required if I was prepared to wait approx 15 mins. I offered to go down and pay a table deposit, but again this wasn’t able to be accommodated to secure a table (I have no direct issue with that either). With no other options and going on the confident advice received we arrived at the time advised. Whilst busy, it didn’t feel like it was unmanageable, and with a set number of workable tables you would assume they would be able to cope with a steady stream of traffic (which as far as bringing out food they seemed to do). With no free tables we were advised that a table would more than likely be available within 15 mins. We took a seat and proceeded to wait, and wait and wait! Nearly an hour later we finally got a table, and then further advised to expect a 30 mins wait for food (in fairness it arrived quicker). That’s where the positive outlook ends as what turned up for £12.50 was a shocking disgrace of a meal. Smallest adult burger I have ever been served and closer to your average kids menu burgers I’d buy for my 7 year old, with an insulting drip of coleslaw that looked like it had fallen off the side of a package whilst plating another rather than mine, and my food with an obvious aversion to going anywhere near 60% of the plate! Ludicrously bare plate for the money. Whilst enjoyable enough it was all very basic and one of the most unappealing meals I’ve ever paid for. Really poor representation of the Lounge brand as a whole and not worth any sort of visit, for the price or the 1.5 hrs I ‘d effectively waited for it. Staff were pleasant enough, but probably a little too bliaise about the whole situation and no real customer service demonstrated or haste to sort out the situation. I’ll let readers decide if the burger was worth £12.50, but knowing how many good establishments out there selling cracking burgers and for the same price its not a venue I could recommend or return to in a hurry. It was that insulting a meal that I subsequently cancelled the a meal at another Lounge venue I had planned with friends in late December. I wish you success in the future, but you need to work harder to change some of the avoidable issues, a little more thought or VFM food may have changed my overall opinion of my visit. I have given 2 stars purely for the lady at the ends efforts to be kind to us!

We have been here on many occasions and whilst most of the staff are friendly on this occasion the guy was very rude, no please or thank you at all, had no customer service skills The toast was cold when it came out hardly toasted, with 1 butter to fill 2 bread, this isn't the 1st time we have had issues but have tried to give it a chance as have had apologies in the past but this is now the last time we will visit Also very chipped crockery We are done attending here

Poor service, the chicken satay dish we ordered was wrong. Didn’t get napkins or plates after asking and being told we’d get them. To make it worse, they forgot about my partner’s burger order. All would have been forgiven if they were at full capacity, but half the venue was empty! Henna was the only saving grace, who gave us free drinks and fully prioritised giving us a better experience after we complained about the other staff.

Visited for a quick meal. Bwe were seated straight away by friendly staff. The atmosphere was cosy and just really nice We had an amazing meal. We will be back

I eat at this Lounger about once or twice a month and it is consistently great for its food and service. Any other Loungers I have visited have always been as equally consistent. Good job team Lounge!!

We live local and this is our go to coffee/breakfast stop. I like the coffee here and when we eat I always have the same:- egg and bacon muffin. It's always nice, well cooked and not too much. I have to say, for me, I am not keen on a lot of the menu, I like plain, unfancy food so the egg bacon muffin suits me. We also bring our dogs with it being dog friendly, we are normally lucky to find a table out the way so we can get a bit of peace. I enjoy the background music which includes some great classics. Most of the staff are very friendly but there are some very unfriendly which makes them stand out!

Always a great place to meet for food and drinks. Being in the retail park makes parking easy especially in the summer evenings.

Went there thrice in short span of 2-3 weeks. Liked the first visit more than the second one. The humous in kids meal is good one.. the kids chicken strips is not good and too much chewy.. The buttermilk fried chicken is pretty good in quantity and taste. The carribbean chicken curry is good and was not great in terms of quantity. The lounge eggs with smoked salmon hollandaise is a kind of disappointing for us as we normally like our salmon well cooked which is not in this case..may be this is the nature of the dish .. didn't suite our taste.. The watermelon iced tea is too sweet in my view. The chicken kyiv burger is was decent as well.. The service was pretty fast and behaviour is good.. My child has thrown some tantrums on first visit and they were pretty okay with it..

Very atmospheric establishment with plenty of seating. Easy ordering at the table with the QR code scan or order at the bar. Staff are attentive despite being very busy and are friendly and pleasant. Happy to return here as the selection on the menu is good. Portion size is in line with most other restaurants so no surprises there. Prices are in line with other restaurants too.

We had my 70th birthday tea yesterday, a table of 19. Once again the food was fabulous. We were a mix of Vegan, omni and Gluten free. Everyone said how nice the food was again. Once again thank you for a lovely afternoon

Excellent Pizzas and beer/ciders.

Lots of games and toys to keep kids occupied. Good relaxed atmosphere. Kids food came pretty quickly and it went down well. The tapas selection my wife and I had was a bit longer which is fine but wasn't very hot. And the calamari was overcooked. Bit of a shame.

Monkey Boys says- if you have to eat at a chain restaurant and want some fresh food you probably won't beat this place, plenty of greens on the menu, staff are friendly and chilled. Not to pricey, good atmosphere. Much better than the Bella Italia or Nandos adjacent.

Friendly informative staff, excellent food of constantly high quality. I am always so impressed that the Lounges produce such a large menu to such a high quality and the Barranco is no exception. Convenient for the station with good parking, will be back when next seeing off family back to London.

Our third visit! Delicious food and I love how rapidly and efficiently you can place an order using the QR code. Staff really friendly and can’t do enough to help. Appalling experience! Never been before and won’t be going again! Arrived and sign said find your own table but nothing available to seat 5 people so had to drag tables around ourselves. Staff just looked on. Scanned QR code to order on line. Took forever to enter food and drink for 5 people and then selected checkout and the word ERROR appears on screen and took you back to the beginning. Had lost complete order so then went up to bar and tried to order. Massive queue and when we got to the front the lady serving said to her colleague‘I was meant to finish 10 mins ago’ so then walked off and we were left stood there being ignored by the other two visible staff for at least 10mins longer. Eventually got to order food and waited half an hour for it to arrive and when it did I was halfway through mine and found two black hairs in the middle - absolutely disgusting. Rest of family ate their food and we left. I would have complained to someone but as no staff anywhere to be seen that would have been difficult. Horrible experience.

Solid meal at a reasonable price. Slightly lacking in atmosphere, not quite sure what the decor was meant to be other than "everything". We really enjoyed our Tapas selection.

Food good, service good, easy enough to park. Lunch only, so I don't know what this is like in the evening. Set on a retail park, so ambience is lacking a tad, and any opportunity to move between bars is very limited. Seems a tad expensive for what it is, but then all restaurants seem that way after the cost of living crisis.

Food was good, with lots of drinks to choose from. Large selection for gluten-free diet. App to order from table. Lunch time is definitely a busy period and high ceiling means the noise carries quite a bit. Large venue with different types of seating so you can go for cosy or a large group. Definitely go again.

Wide range of food including vegan and vegetarian options. A little pricey for what was actually served but within the normal range.

Had a lovely family breakfast here last Sunday. Food was great and room is very pleasant and spacious. Shout out to the switched-on young lady who took our order; we had a few bespoke requirements but she handled it without any fuss and a pleasant smile.

After a nice walk at stoke park I took my dog to Barranco Lounge. I had coffee, chocolate brownie with Ice cream and she had ice cream. They make the best latte and the chocolate brownie was to die for very yummy 😋. Staff are always polite and friendly.

If you've been to a 'lounge' before you know what to expect. There are cheaper options out there but you are paying a bit extra for the ambience and quality. The breakfast sausage and bacon is really good quality, plus they catered superbly for my dietary requirement. Only thing I'm not keen on is the staff wear regular clothes so you don't know who they are.

The bun on the gf lounge burger was outstanding.

Me, my husband and our pooch absolutely love it here! We go for breakfast pretty much every week and are never disappointed. Food is consistently fresh and tasty, good portion size and staff go above and beyond to ensure you leave happy. Being dog friendly is just the cherry on the top.

Good food, and great service. No complaints here. I will say this as an avid tea drinker, the tea was very weak they need stronger tea bags lol. But all round 8 /10

I absolutely love the lounge chain restaurants. Great variety on the menus- and can cater to all types of dietary requirements/allergies. As a Coeliac it can be nervous trying a new place to eat as it can be worrying not knowing how they handle your allergy- however they did fab! All of their gluten free menu is prepared in a separate area of the kitchen to reduce the risk of cross contamination. I've eaten here a handful of times now, and haven't had any issues.

Part of the "Lounge" bar chain. Great atmosphere, good selection of foods, reasonable price. Took up the cheeky Monday offer of buy a main and get a glass of house wine or a pudding for free. It was also quiz night, so lively. Staff were friendly but service did get a little slow towards the end of the evening when we ordered more drinks and waiting on our puddings but forgivable as staff were apologetic. Wish this was my local. Seems like a nice place.

Food wasn’t awful, wasn’t great. Waitresses spend their time standing around or sitting at a table together rather than waiting tables. Chef is extremely unprofessional. While on the restaurant floor he walked around giving the middle finger to other members of staff and other diners.

Went in the evening, which was busy (no spare tables once we sat down), with a good atmosphere. Quite noisy - I had to concentrate to hear the conversation. Good gluten free menu, nice food and a fair price. Call back was towards the end of the meal, but clearly they were busy, and we didn't have any problems.

I have been here on a weekly basis for months as the coffee and food are lovely. Unfortunately today was the last time either of us will ever set foot in the place due to the most disgusting treatment of a member of staff. I have sent an email of complaint as this member of staff should not be working with general public.

Went here on a very busy Sunday morning for breakfast. Everything was perfect. Food was excellent, staff were really lovely and the atmosphere was great. We didn't have to wait very long for our food, even though the place was packed. We will definitely return to this Lounge.

Came here for the first time, menu looked good and it was a sunny day (30 degrees) so thought perfect… upon arriving there were 4 or 5 members of staff stood at the bar, no one acknowledged us so I went over and asked if we should sit or wait, we were told we can sit anywhere and order from the bar or scan the QR code to order and pay. Funny when you scan the QR code you’re then asked if you want to leave a tip before even getting any service?? Drinks took ages to come. We were quite dehydrated because of the hot weather so I asked if we could have some water and they said there’s water at the bar which we can get ourselves. Food came pretty much at the same time which was good, well presented and enjoyable. Solid 7/10 for food but a little on the smaller size. We ordered a couple of mains and tapas for 4 of us however they didn’t give us any side plates to eat the tapas so again I had to get up and ask for plates. Unfortunately service is very very poor which let down the experience. Uniformed staff would have been better too. Cons: Poor and inconsiderate service Pro: Lovely decor and clean Would I come back again? Probably not.

What can I say. Has to be the worst experience in a fake pub. You cannot have a tab running to pay for your food and drink. It has to be paid up front so that you can get 1 receipt. Then when you order your beer, they run out of what you want. You pick the next one and that is also not available. Finally you get your third choice. Then when you go to the bar to get your pre-paid drinks the manager comes over to tell us that you have had them already, even though the first round was paid by someone else. You cannot make this up honestly. The food was ok, however, not happy about the experience. I think the Asda next door may have been a better and cheaper option.

This review is about visits made before mid March this year, so things may have changed since. Like the other Lounges in Bristol I’m never disappointed. You get quick service even when it’s busy. Have never had any complaints about the food, you’re not getting cordon bleu, just very tasty recognisable dishes and good amounts of it. Atmosphere is good and the staff are some of the friendliest you’ll get. My daughter worked for another of the Lounges and said they treat their staff well and it shows. This is a fairly recent opening of this particular Lounge and I’ve been probably 4-5 times. The only negative is “THE HEAT”!!!!! It’s uncomfortably warm and I feel the cold! I don’t know if it’s the groups of four or five lights bundled together overhead most tables, plus chandeliers, but honestly it’s so warm. It’s actually a bit off putting which is a shame cos everything else is great.

We ordered on the app and worked well, friendly staff and quick service despite being quite busy, food very good and staff will provide anything else you need, more butter etc.

Good friendly atmosphere, tasty food with veggy options

Came today for my birthday for brunch with my partner. Had a terrible experience. My partners chicken was raw and pink. We only realised after he had eaten a fair bit of the chicken sandwich. We politely pointed it out to the waitress to what we wasn’t even offered a refund for the sandwich. Instead we was offered a free dessert that was half the price of the sandwich. We waited for over half an hour for this dessert and it wasn’t even brought out so we left. Not a great experience to celebrate my birthday and won’t be coming back. Considering raw chicken is likely to cause food poisoning meaning time off work I think a refund for the sandwich should have been offered at the very least.

Had the lounge breakfast, been here a few times. Quirky atmosphere with lots to look at. Staff great and accommodating to dietary requirements. Food came out quickly and hot. Hash browns were a bit over cooked but still edible, first time I've had this. Overall a lovely breakfast. Will be going again :)

Lovely place with a pretty full and good menu. Spacious, clean and tidy. The food was delicious for my first visit and I would love to return and try another dish from the menu. All reasonably priced too.

This lounge is on the Abbeywood complex and even on a Wednesday lunchtime was busy. There's plenty of parking though and lots of space inside. The menu had lots of options and ordering via the app, although impersonal, was efficient and allowed you to tune your choices. It also stopped people running off without paying! Food was well presented, tasty and arrived quickly and service was pleasant. Good value and portions were generous so we didn't need a dessert!

We had a lovely lunch here this week. I’m unsure about ordering food via the app but it’s well set up and easy to select your options, just not very personal. The food was well presented and tasted good and the portion sizes are generous. I haven’t yet had space for dessert! Service at the table was pleasant and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere and was wuite busy on a Wednesday lunchtime. Mid range prices (£15 ish mains).

Can’t go wrong coming in here for lunch with the lounge breakfast being my go to. Service has always been friendly and quick and never any issues with the food or drinks. Can get really busy if you don’t time your visit well at lunch time or after 4pm

Stopped here for coffee and breakfast with a friend. I had gluten free English breakfast. Sausage was cold in the middle, bacon was just tepid and plate was cold. Mushrooms watery. I had to ask for butter for toasted gf roll .my friends lounge eggs were OK but bacon was again just tepid. And plate was cold. Coffee should hav been American and a flat white but got American and a latte.

The food was incredible, it had a great atmosphere and the decor was awesome!!

I guess we all go to lounges cause we know what to expect and we are happy with it - so if that's the case you will also like this one. Do I wish they would get more sound deadening? Yes definitely. Am I willing to put up with it as it is? Yes I am, but it's definitely not very friendly for neuro divergent people.

Really enjoy eating here, 2nd time we have been. You order the food via an app or can go to bar to order. Food is quite quick coming out. Kids have had burgers and like to remove items they don't want. Will definitely visit again.

We came here for lunch on Friday. It was busy, which is unsurprising given it is in a retail strip mall and near the MOD procurement complex. Food quality and service were both excellent. We ordered from table with a QR code which we prefer. That way you can't lose your table while you order at the bar.

I liked this place. Nice and cosy. Not too crowded. Loved the atmosphere.

Friendly staff and nice food, they didn't judge when I bought a burger patty for my dog as the volume of kids in there made her nervous so we wanted to give her something better than regular treats 🙂

It is a nicely decorated pub/restaurant. Serving tasty and reasonably priced food and beverage. Sadly staff do not wear a uniformed shirt or polo shirt, so it can be a bit confusing when they are approaching your table to make a distinction who are the guests and staff.

Very busy when we visited but staff coped well. Quite pricey but good food. Dog friendly, but be prepared to sit outside if busy.

A Monday evening rolls by, and I decide to read the menu outside (Monday bugger and wine offer it says). I proceed in to not knowing what to do ( no signage or indicators), to be met by a young lad in civvy clothing. "Sit anywhere" he says as I proceed to sit at a table. With no menu, or drink offer I sit. And sit. And sit. All the while not knowing who works there to get their attention. I'll take my money elsewhere and warn other patrons before wasting their hard spent time looking like a gooseberry .

Weird and wacky with clusters of lampshades Barranco Lounge is where dreams are made. Dreams of brunch and dinner and brekkie They cater for all, even weirdos (like Trekkies). The prices are good, if a little expensive But who really cares, no need to be pensive. When the food is this good and the atmosphere unique, Think not of the pricing and order the bubble and squeak! P.s. they don't actually serve bubble and squeak, but they should.
