Lovely cafe upstairs, quite busy on a sunny day. We ordered Meze for one and a Fish and Chips. The waiter asked if I wanted bread and butter with that, so I said yes. Really nice food arrived no complaints there. With drinks, the total was about £44 which was about right. Looking at the receipt, the bread and butter was charged at £2.95! That was for a single slice of brown bread, sliced diagonally. £2.95 for a slice of bread!!! Ridiculous. Sadly, they didn't get a tip because I felt stupid paying three quid for that.

We visit this restaurant regularly and find it very amicable. Very friendly efficient staff. We always visit on a Saturday as the do a very reasonable special. Usually a casserole with chips. Always lovely and a different choice each week. This week was a very nice pork and apple casserole. Very tasty served with chips and peas. Tea and coffee is thrown in with the deal. Can’t fault it. They also do a fish and chip special not to be missed.

Very busy Cafe when we arrived at about 11.30. Never the less after trying to enter the Cafe by our usual "route" we found this way to be blocked by the addition of extra seating but no problem, a very nice young man signalled us and directed us to the waiting area. Our table for two adjacent to the "Cake and Scones" display was not the best as at this busy time one is constantly being aware of arrivals being "Shoulder Brushed" past as they are shown to tables. Our Bacon and Brie Panini was just OK. Our portion of Chips was Poor. We had tried the Chips on a previous visit and had put the poor quality down to a "One Off" but yesterday's experience proved this not to be the case. Overcooked. Soft and Squashy consistency. The Coffee as always was great. The Staff excellent and helpful. Will we visit again ?, yes but only for Coffee and a Scone.

Fantastic Cafe with very efficient staff. Everyone behind the counter (and out front) couldn't have been nicer and very approachable. There is a great selection of food and prices are fair. It is also remarkably clean and stylish. Well done to the team and management.

My wife and I had the best fish and chips and scampi and chips for a very long time. The fish was very fresh and the scampi really juicy. The batter was light and crispy with no horrible greasy residue so often apparent in pub and chippy locations. The chips were superb as was the service and ambience. The place was very busy which means the poor reviews are the exception not the rule and the food didn't take more than 10 minutes to be prepared. Also the beds in the adjacent furniture floor are excellent too and so we bought one!

Great system for reserving a table first, especially if you are alone. Reasonably quick service at till. Homemade soup disappointing. Very glutinous. Did complain and I was assured it was not pre-fabricated but couldn't recommend soup I'm afraid. Prices beyond reasonable compared to current trends.

We visited today as we are moving to the area and want to find a nice place to have coffee. It was our first visit so we didn’t know the system and the staff were impatient that we hadn’t chosen a table . I asked a question and was told the menus are on the table . One young lady was very pleasant however the other staff seemed impatient with us not knowing the system. Worst of all the food was horrible , the quiche seemed greasy and even the chips were not nice. It was altogether an unpleasant experience.

Gluten free fish cakes didn’t contain much fish, it was if ‘fishi-ness’ had been waved over them, like an ‘aroma ’. Chips were reheated, although the fish itself was nice. No obvious sign of condiments such as extra vinegar or tartare sauce either? Not the best, today, and not usual either. Perhaps a bit more quality control is needed?

The staff at Barkers Home furniture store are polite and helpful - with one exception - the arrogant little man serving behind the counter in the Tree View Cafe. We have twice previously experienced off hand service from this person, but today took the biscuit. We appreciate that hot food is not served until 12 o'clock, but were astonished when he refused to even take our order for the sake of 10 minutes! No wonder the cafe was nearly empty, people must be going elsewhere , and after this experience, we will follow suit. If your intention is to deprive Barkers of business - then you have been successful - we won't be returning.

The breakfast menu had only toast, crumpets and an egg sandwich for vegetarians and NONE OF THE EGGS ARE FREE RANGE! I was very surprised and disappointed. Even the lovely service staff were shocked at this. In my experience, nearly all cafes and restaurants now use free range eggs and, as this cafe is a bit more expensive than your average, this really should be a minimum expectation.

We called in at lunch time for a Coffee and Cheese Scone. My wife spotted a vacant table and sat down whilst I went and joined the queue at the counter to order. My turn came and my request for Cheese Scones was met with "sorry, Sold Out". How on earth can a cafe "run out" in the middle of the day. Looking up to the menu display behind the counter, Hang on, it's disappeared !!. "Yes sir, there are now menu's on the tables. I returned to our table (one of those without a menu !!) to find my wife in a stand off with a lady who was insisting that she had previously "claimed" this table before going to the counter to order her food. We pointed out that one normally deposits a coat or some other item on the table or chair to indicate "this place is taken" and that this simple practice is accepted by everyone. Yes, I do realise that this event is not the responsibility of the Cafe but on this occasion it only added to yet another unpleasant experience in Barkers Tree View Cafe.

Came here the day after 'Freedom Day', the cafe is still table service which is not a bad thing, we were shown to a table in the window and given a one time use menu. Staff were so friendly and helpful and delivered the food on a trolley and had all the condiments you might need to enjoy your meal. Whilst the tables probably were quite close together the way the cafe was being run felt very safe and in control. Food and drink as good as always.

Went just after 1 pm and they had already sold out of many of the items on the menu (including a prawn sandwich and scones which, to my mind, are basics). I ended up with my fourth choice. It was difficult to make this choice as the only menu was on a board behind the serving counter and I was desperately trying to find yet another alternative with a queue of people behind me. Nothing wrong with the food when it arrived, good sized portion. Just a shame I could have my first, second or even third choice. No gluten free cakes other than small selection prepackaged. I believe they normally have gluten free bread but not on the day I visited.

Girl on counter offered to serve us but after remarking that we were looking for breakfast items, she produced a small additional breakfast menu from behind the counter and slammed it down in front of us without speaking. We asked if they did wholemeal toast and she just said white or brown in a flat tone. She made a very average experience go down hill fast.

Have previously visited Tree view cafe several times in the past and usually enjoyed it.Visited on friday 11th of Jan 2019.Cafe was very busy.We ordered a panini each and a bowl of chips to share plus a latte and a can of pop.I think £2.40 for a can of pop is daylight robbery!! All the drinks prices are greedily highly priced! I noticed later that theres a free to use water dispenser but why dont they place this next to the drinks fridge? The latte was too milky with little coffee taste. The paninis were much thinner than normal with less filling at £6.40 each with a small dollop of coleslaw and pathetic salad that in the past had tasty lettuce and baby tomatoes but now has yucky leaves and normal sized quartered tomatoes. The chips were luke warm and bland.£19.90 in total is disgraceful.I noticed many people had left food on plates and i feel sorry for the customers especially as most of them are elderly but they are being ripped off by this Greedy cafe! Called for lunch today with my daughter who is also a wheelchair user. Quite surprised to see a comment in an earlier review about lack of access as we certainly felt the spacings between most tables were quite generous. Hot food is cooked to order which obviously entails a bit of a wait but quality of food on its arrival made the wait worthwhile. Only thing preventing top marks was the fact that tables tend not to be cleared if you elect to have additional courses meaning you eventually finish up peering over a pile of dirty crockery.

The food ranges from a 'proper meal' to light bites such as paninis, sandwiches etc. Their quiches are lovely and the home-made coleslaw very tasty. The staff are excellent. They are friendly and helpful and you don't have to wait long once you have put in an order. This is a small cafe, a clean and pleasant place to eat.

They had a special offer of regular tea/coffee plus a slice of cake for £4. We had the lemon drizzle cake and zucchini and lime. Both were very good, moist with plenty of flavour. In Barker's furniture store about 3/4 mile from town centre, where there is plenty of free parking.

Visiting after the refurbishment of the shop. Quality of the food was good, it was warm, came reasonably quickly and we thought it was good value for money - we had the Yorkshire rarebit. The seating and tables are good, with choice of tables and chairs, or lower coffee tables and 'easy chairs' for those just wanting a coffee etc. If you can sit near the window there's a reasonable view outside.Seems popular as plenty of people arriving over the such period. We would use again .

Yes it is just OK had coffee and carrot cake was OK but I suspect that the best thing about it is the view . I would go back if I was in the shop.

Lovely lunch today in Barkers Tree View Cafe. First time I'd been since the revamp. Attractive modern relaxing look and feel to the place. Food was excellent, both of us chose salads. I had prawns in Mayo wrapped in smoked salmon. Garnish and two salad choices of coleslaw and Mediterranean pasta. Mother chose a quiche. We both enjoyed our meals which were generous servings. Just one disappointment was the ladies toilet. Cheery and bright since the re-vamp but no loo seat in the cubicle I had to use.

The new store refurbishment is great for a browse. Themed like a John Lewis store, the products are quality and present lots of ideas for your home. Then it's time for a sit down and coffee and cake. We went for the Mocha (staff were a little unsure how to make a mocha and appeared unconcerned about customers as they fumbled and giggled their way through it!) apple pie and fruit scone. The apple pie is delicious, packed with apple and ask for pouring or whipped cream. The scone was not small and with the jam and a 'very' generous serving of cream, was lovely. There were plenty of other customers enjoying full meals, hot and cold snacks and all looked very nice.

Visited with my wife for breakfast. It took almost 25 minutes for poached egg on toast to arrive. I think the egg may have been boiling the whole time as it was hard. Definitely better places to eat in Northallerton.

Having visited the store in the high street on many occasions and enjoying both the food and service, l thought l was in for the same. Oh how wrong l was ! The food was no where near the main stores standards. But my main complaint was the utter lack of leadership in this establishment. If you check my other reviews l am not prone to negative ones in general

Bored of the usual places at Teesside park so dropped in for a spot of lunch. We had the sea bass which was a perfect light bite although a little more expensive than we would normally pay for lunch on a Saturday. We were having a big mal that night so the size of the portion was perfect for us but I would needed to have something extra if this was our main meal of the day.

Very nicely designed with a spacious feel and relaxing. The food is fresh and home made although can be a little repetitive if you visit often. The service can vary sometimes really good other times average. The scones are really good.

We have visited before and have had various meals, this time when we popped on Sunday for lunch they no longer serve Sunday lunch and all there was just the usual assortment of sandwiches etc.Not up to their usual standard of Fayre, the food we settled on was OK but expensive for what we had.

Cracking food, had the English breakfast but your portion sizes are for a small adult/child Such a nice classy place where you can chill and dog friendly with a doggy water station

I have been here for the last 3 weeks on business for 2 nights a week, still 3 weeks to go 😀 Lovely welcome by everyone who has been on reception on all my visits, very helpful, friendly and they go that extra mile to help. The rooms I've stayed in so far are ( 2-10 and 31) which were very clean, cosy and well presented with everything you needed, Iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. The only little issue was the shower door rollers kept coming loose, just life cycle replacement needs attention at some point. I could not fault any of the cleaning at all and that's very rare for me due to being a cleaning trainer for the NHS, hotels, schools and offices for 20 years. I meet some of the cleaning first thing on the morning and they were also very polite and always smiling. The bar area was comfortable, clean, all the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant-bar is excellent, large portions, presented beautifully and very tasty...... 😋 I didn't have the breakfast , so i can't comment on that... Thank you so much for making me feel welcome, especially when I'm here on my own. I will miss coming here when my business in Northallerton comes to an end 😊

Latte coffee (with extra shot) allegedly large but certainly only medium, small piece of mass produced poor quality cake....£9.05 !!!!! Massively over priced. Waited to be seated and waited to give my order while the member of staff who should have been serving me filled in her paperwork and chatted with staff. My coffee when it arrived was covered in coffee grounds and was undrinkable. I took it back and the woman who served me was very polite apologised and served me quickly with another one. I must say she was the ONLY staff member who showed any customer care at all. If you want over priced drinks and cake along with a poor attitude from staff then pay them a visit. Otherwise I suggest giving them a wide berth!!

Visited as a couple 7 March. We were staying in the hotel. Ambience was good. The eating area could perhaps do with a bit of updating but it is fine. Menu is a mix of pub classics and more adventurous dishes. I had one of the latter as a starter, Lamb Tagine Roll with harissa mayo and smoked aubergine purée. Very good. The roll had chunks of lamb and the mayo had a kick. Tasted and presented very well. I had steak and ale pie for main. Appeared home made with real chips. Again very good Mrs W had the pork belly which she enjoyed too. We had a very nice bottle of NZ Sav Blanc as well. Very good value.

We hebben net samen met vrienden voortreffelijk geluncht. Alle gerechten waren verrassend en super lekker. Is echt de (zeer korte) omweg waard.
