Definitely recommend you visit. We were a bit worried after reading the reviews but we definitely don’t regret trying Bare Grills for the first time. Customer service was good as well. We had the BBQ Stack for three and it was more than enough (we have lunch for work tomorrow). If you are 4 people, I would recommend having the BBQ stack for 3 @£75.

Haven’t been here for a few years, wanted to give it a go with some mates. We ordered platter for 2, which had a bit of everything on it, well it was pretty dry and flavourless all round. Platter for 2 comes with 2 burgers, whole rack of bbq ribs, burnt ends, wings and pulled pork. Also a heap of fries which we upgraded to pastrami and jalapeño fries, corn on the cob and onion rings. I’ll talk on the meat side of things first - started with the wings and they were dry, crispy skin but no sauce they lacked any flavour. I moved onto the bbq ribs, they fell of the bone and soft, not the moist as could be but they were ok, lacked in sauce again tho. I tried the burger next and this probably most flavourful / best thing on the platter tbh, patty was perfect, toppings had the right amount and nice bun, plenty of flavour also. The burnt ends were super dry and chewy without much seasoning at all, hard to eat tbh. And that leaves the pulled pork which was actually really nice, good flavours and juice running through it could ate that all day! The sides well, the pastrami loaded fries were great, good texture and flavour plenty of cheese and pastrami, the jalapeño loaded fries again the same, no complaints from those two dishes. Were as the corn tasted like it was boiled in old bath water, inedible! And onion rings were dripping in old oil and tasted like they been recooked 4 times. In general the food was pretty bland and really not that authentic bbq low and slow meat you want from this kind of place! It lacked those smokey, deep flavours and none of the sauces cut through with any acidity or flavour. Probably won’t return here for a while tbh. Overall score 5/10, needs a lot more work and care. It feels like a bbq joint without any of the food given that bbq feeling or care.

Brilliant place to come for a hearty meal with a few friends. Plenty of quality choice, and you know you won't be leaving hungry. Helps that they have a kicker playlist on while you're eating 🤘🤘 Great meal, and will definitely be coming back again. 😎

This is only a small restaurant and better to book, but so worth booking. The food for meat lovers is out of this world, perfection.

Went here on the back of a number of good recommendations. I felt let down to say the least. It felt like I was eating reheated leftovers. The pulled pork was cold the ribs were extremely dry! The burger was the only good thing in my opinion. The staff were very polite though. Wouldn’t eat here again as there is much better bbq available in Bristol

This place has gone SERIOUSLY downhill.. the food is practically inedible. The staff here have zero customer service and are rude. So greasy, tasteless and just all round bad quailty. Also you will come out of here absolutely stinking of smoke. Overpowering and really unpleasant. Shame really as this place a few years back used to be incredible. Save your money!!!

First time visiting this place on a Friday night, busy restaurant and really Smokey inside from the bbq, seated ordered drinks, only have bottled beer, no draft, so you end up paying £5-6 for half a beer. Food came, My burger was nice, my wife wasn’t that impressed with hers as it’s was all very soggy and the roll fell apart. Service was ok, shame about only one toilet for everyone. Spitfire is better.

This, is NOT a smokehouse. A large pile of cold waiting ribs should have told me. They were waiting to be warmed up in the steamer. It was a small rack that was served, very dry with little meat that did not fall off the bone. The hot dog was simply tasteless with dry warmed up pulled pork. Just awful. The burgers were again, warmed up and dry, with no lettuce/tomato, just wrong, more dry pulled pork . The coleslaw was just pathetic. We have eaten bbq worldwide, and this is simply awful food warmed up. We saw no griddles cooking our food, it was served within 10 minutes, which is impossible if you are cooking fresh food. And, the "toilet " is disgustingly filthy.....in a restaurant. A horrible experience that we shall never repeat. You have been warned.

Dude seriously? Got the audacity to charge this much for bland, dry, overcooked produce in every aspect. Seriously I'm trying to find some silver lining, but this is atrocious. Never again. Third time trying this place, we figured maybe the first two times they had a bad night, but this was the worst yet. Feels like they've given up or maybe never had the experience for decent BBQ cooking smoking and grilling - hope the owner has a word coz I doubt this is what they had in mind.

Awful this place is terrible. Dirty and grubby the food pulled pork was more boil in the bag rubbish and cold onions on the hot dog!!! Chips DELISH tho so there is that. NOT worthy of a photo

The good Decent portion sizes. The flavour on the ribs was ok. The bad The ribs and brisket were dry, so much so that I couldn't bite through meat on the end rib. The chicken (wings and super chick buger) did not have any flovour or discernable seasoning. The ugly The whole restaurant was filled with the smoke of frying and Gilling food. Our clothes were drenched with the odour Final word The staff were kind enough to take 10% off the bill but this is not a place I would ever come back to or recommend to any BBQ lover.

Barely Grilled. I used to enjoy this place but I couldn’t have been more disappointed with my latest visit. Nothing grilled here, more like boiled and barely passed on the grill. Dry fire starter wings, sauce drowned burnt ends and barely seasoned chips, oh my days!!!

I booked this place as it was a place my boyfriend wanted to try. Menu sounded great. We ordered ridiculous amounts of food. The waitress did warn us on the amount we had ordered but we wanted to taste it all. It had looked so good! We had a platter for 2 people and some extra burnt ends to try. The waitress was so helpful and she was really busy with orders coming in and they were coming in fast. But unfortunately the food wasn't what I expected. The burnt ends were tough cold pieces of meat. The baby back ribs were tough too. The burger was a bit dry. The chicken wings, coleslaw, corn on the cob and jalapeño fries were yummy. The hardshakes are a definite thumbs up. Would recommend the mississipi mud! It was delicious.

Was out working tonight and broke down in the cold, popped in they got some grub on the go for me double quick, service was great even checked on my out front while getting rescued. Really sorted me out at an end to a disastrous evening.

Walked in at 830 ,the sign on the door and Google said close 9pm. Wouldn't of thought there would be any problem. Only 5 or 6 diners in there. I was told "no sorry we close at 9" I stressed we only want a simple steak dinner. Again told "no sorry we are not taking any more customers". This is bloody ridiculous. A steak doesn't take long to cook. We were so looking forward to it. We had 2 more days up here. I am hoping I can at least get a reply to my email but no reply. We eat out occasionally and dont usually have a problem like this. It's made me look a total idiot on what should of been a romantic couple of days away. Look forward to hearing from you.Don Codman.

Wing and ribs were a bit dry. Some more moisture during smoking probably needed. I'm sure it was just a one off. Brisket was amazing and so was the pulled port. So many chips bread and some nice corn. Bbq tower was a good choice. £48 £58.20 with two thatchers. Will come again.

Was in two minds about heading here after reading a couple of the poor reviews recently, I have eaten here before and it was not too bad. So took my family there for a cheeky Friday burger. First off, service was great. Greeted with a smile and our reservation was all good. Not too busy but it was an early dinner time reservation. Service was awesome from start to finish and no complaints there at all. I had the burger, which was tasty, felt fresh and decent size with two patties. Sauce was good and the taste was ok. Not mind blowing but a decent burger. Only gripe would be it was quite pink in the patties and I prefer mine a just a little more cooked but that's my fault for not saying to the waitress. My wife's pulled pork was pretty poor to be honest. Looked like it had been defrosted and slopped on the plate, and just wasn't the same quality as when we had eaten there previously. Son had a burger and loved it, we also got burnt ends which were below average. Really chewy and did not feel fresh at all. Chips needed to be cooked a little longer but seasoning was great and taste was very good. We also ended up getting an extra order of burnt ends included due to a mistake at ordering. Very much appreciated guys and thank you for this. I will say one thing, you need to maybe clean your toilet room more often. That was a a bit of a horror show. I would very much advise against going in there if I was you. Overall it was quite pricey for what it was, if it has been the standard we'd previously had then would have been happy to pay it. But I am afraid we will not be heading back there now as the food just didn't impress us. I hope they put some time and effort into bringing this place back to what it was as it's a great idea, restaurant and location. Service was top class though, just some of the food let it down on this trip.

Bare Grills Bristol offers decent fare but falls short of the standards set by its Weston branch. While the food is good, the rushed atmosphere and indifferent staff detract from the overall experience. For a more memorable meal, consider visiting their Weston location instead.

Overcooked ribs with no meat left on them, just crispy bark. Bland "spicy" fries. Dry wings Slaw and pulled pork were ok.

Traveled from Stroud to eat here and was not disappointed. Foods fantastic, portions are insane and the lad that served us was lovely. We will definitely be coming back

Nasty ! Don’t eat here ! After two years of trying some Of the worst ribs ever and bland food i thought I’d give this place another chance. I thought the ribs couldn’t get anymore dryer but he wrong I was ! They were so dry and tough I almost cracked a tooth and I wanted to carry on chewing them to see how long it would take and how much effort it would take to chew a piece of dry meat off Hahah they were rock hard ! Then just plastered in sauce . I spent £50 on their biggest best combo dish and this is was the best ? I’m gobsmacked . Everything was almost cold and tasted horrible … not worth a penny and also look at their google reviews almost every complaint mentions the ribs and brisket and how dry they are !! Sort it out!!

Hello .. I ordered yesterday on Sunday 2/3/24 and ordered the tower combo which usually comes to £50 but they had an offer on reducing it to £40 I’m majorly disappointed!! I’d of got better value from the Asda hot food section !! The ribs were like chewing rubber from a tyre!!! So tough and dry!!! I’ve attached a photo but that doesn’t do it justice ! The ribs were covered in sauce which was nice but the ribs were inedible for real. Brisket lol what a joke ! I had the smallest piece of tough as boots brisket and it tasted nasty 🤮… it was about the size of a slice of ham that you get in multipacks from Tesco Chicken wings were ok and were the warmest part of my meal … everything else was almost cold … Burgers were ok but I would never order these on their own as they don’t deserve the price . Chips were standard seasoning was good but again for the money it’s not worth it !!! Pulled pork saturated in grease … yeah it’s fatty but this was something else … Onions rings were nice as the batter wasn’t hard and not soggy and tasted good … I’ve not ordered ribs from here for over a year but it’s still the same problem I’m disgusted ! The fact that they charge £50 for their biggest best combo and the quality is terrible says that it’s not worth eating from here 🤮 it wouldn’t surprise me If the manager asks friends to leave reviews to boost their rating ! Honestly there’s another smoked bbq place just up the road on whiteladies Rd, called low ‘N’ slow which is much much better ! Don’t eat here it’s nasty 🤮

Got Uber eats from here. It was awful. The driest ribs I’ve ever had in my life. It’s actually quite a feat to dry them out to the point they become inedible. Everything was bland. Completely gross and total waste of money.

Came in sunday lunchtime, there was an empty table that tbf was prob reserved. I asked if they had a table and the waitress just said no and turned her back on me! Charming. I will never return.

Had the baby back ribs. It was quite good and a good portion but I wasn't crazy about the sauce. I would have liked a bit more moisture but it wasn't dry.

All I can say is wow! We had the sharer platter in here so we could sample some of everything and it was all amazing! The burgers were fantastic, pulled pork was so ooo good and The ribs here were unbelievable, I can definitely recommend them, all of us left there and proceeded home to the inevitable food coma we'd eaten ourselves into, it's an easy 5 stars from me

If I could give 0 I would. Ordered a £30 combo. All the meat was dry, no sauces or seasoning, brisket had seen better days and to top it off service was absolutely appalling. Disappointed is an understatement. Don’t waste your money..

Ordered the bare grills combo, £30 so thinking the food is going to be good! Oh how I was disappointed… The brisket was tough as old boots and dry, the ribs were dry, the chicken was over cooked and dry, the pulled pork was okay along with the sausage but not enough to make the meal worth it. Lack of real flavour, I ate some because I was hungry not because it was enjoyable. Avoid this place if you want bbq, not worth a visit at all. I stated these points and the servers didn’t really seem to care, we just got told they would let the chef know. The service was mediocre at best, no one looked like they wanted to be there and there was no real atmosphere at all. Absolute waste of time and money.

Food as good as its sister restaurant in Weston, we love the burgers, and milkshakes that are sure to bring all the boys to the yard.

Recommended this place whilst working in Bristol. Food was fantastic, had a tower for 2 (there was 2 of us). Everything was really good, even the chips. Way too much food for us. Only thing that could be better was if there was decent selection of draught beers, only bottled offered. Will definetly be back next time in Bristol.

Booked online last week, Lovely food and great service we were running a bit late but called through and was told no problem, we had the Bbq sharing meal, more than enough and reasonably priced.

Very disappointed. All the meat was dry. No flavour of smoke house. Totally nondescript seasoning. Just dry overcooked meat smothered in generic BBQ sauce. Nothing like what we were expecting. Extremely noisy.

Quick meal with family. Was there on Saturday night, wasn’t that busy at around 6pm. Not a big place, the decor is American roadside diner. We had a chicken burger and a jack mac. We also got a bare grill combo. As we had a combo, only ordered one extra set of fries, on the servers advice. There was a lot of food. The burgers were huge. They were almost a meal in themselves. The combo came with lots of food as well. Best part of the combo was the ribs. They were melt in mouth good. The sausage was a bit of a let down, but otherwise fantastic meal

We ordered for delivery - we were very hungry and food did not disappoint! Burgers were super tasty so was the Mac and cheese. The chicken strips in jack Daniels sauce …. AMAZING chips perfect as well. Definitely will be coming back again - most probably try sitting in

I had very high expectations about this place. The food was ok...nothing special. I was left very disappointed

After reading positive reviews about this BBQ joint some time ago my partner and I ventured down to Bristol to do some shopping and finally get this restaurant off of my foodie bucket list. Upon arriving we were surprised at how small the restaurant actually was, but we made a reservation for a couple of hours later that day. We were met by a server (young girl who was very polite and very helpful, and on point within her role), we ordered a burger, some ribs, chicken strippers and drinks. The burger was pretty good, nothing special and much smaller than expected, my partner enjoyed her chicken but the real let down were the ribs! They were so hard and dry and the sauce was very unpleasant, after reading all the high praise for the ribs this left me feeling completely underwhelmed. The decor/theme of the restaurant was neither here nor there but the toilet itself looked like it's seen better days and wasn't particularly inviting (as much as toilets can be?), but it really could do with some work and cleaning. Luckily, we didn't drive all the way to Bristol to eat at Bare Grills otherwise we both would have been really annoyed, but, at least we gave it a go, I got a tick next to a restaurant on my foodie bucket list, but we both agreed we'd never go again as it really wasn't special and didn't stand out from any of the other BBQ/Burger joints we've visited. A shame but C'est La Vie.

Made a reservation for 6:15pm with an added note saying we will be there at 6:30pm. They called me to clarify this and I informed them I can’t make 6:15pm and I will be there at 6:30pm and I understood they needed the table back at 8pm for another reservation which I said won’t be a problem. At 6.32pm I received an email to say reservation cancelled ! Arrived a few minutes later to be told by a waitress who had zero decorum that due to us being ‘late’ the table had been given to someone else ! Their website states a 15 minute late grace which is clearly not followed by them. Was looking forward to trying this place for the first time but can honestly say we’ll never go back now. Terrible service :(

Food was good! Service was not the best, we walked in at 2.20 (the place closes at 3) the guy that worked there made us feel uncomfortable told us we had to be quick as they are closing at 3, we were asking questions about the menu and he was short with us (I think he wanted to go home) but either way it was my friends birthday we drove all the way from south wales to take her for food and he made us feel rushed, but good food so we took our time anyway on and my partners ribs were over cooked but it was the end of the day

Quite disappointing. Ordered two burgers and curly fries. The Bare Grills burger patty(s) themselves tasted quite bland and the bbq taste was generic. The curly fries I'm quite convinced were just store-bought frozen fries. Zero seasoning too. To charge £5 for them seems mad. Lack of sides / gravy options also and it's just not great.

A very underwhelming experience. Had high hopes coming here but safe to say, we definitely won’t be returning. The restaurant was empty despite us going during ‘peak trading hours’ & staff didn’t seem to know whether it was Christmas or Easter. Had the sharing board and food was bland, watery & definitely had just been reheated. There is no draught beers with only a limited selection of bottled ones. Also, I appreciate this is a ‘smokehouse’ however I didn’t expect to come out stinking of smoke & not be able to see across the table due to the kitchen not having an extractor fan.

This £30 bbq platter at Bare Grills in Bath was for lack of a better word, absolutely dreadful. I walked in and was told by my server that they only had one half rack of ribs left (they had been open for 15 minutes) so I quickly order the platter. A full 30 minutes later my food arrived, blackened and dry. The chips and pulled pork were excellent and the chicken wings full of flavour. However the problem came from the actual focus of the platter, the ribs, beef brisket and sausage that were incredibly dry and in places inedible. The waitress offered a meagre 25% off as the most she could do (not her fault) and I grudgingly accepted. Overall a true disappointment that I had spent the day looking forward to.

Where to begin? We assumed being a smoke house that this place would be some sort of Texan style BBQ restaurant. It is far from it. As a couple we went for the sharing tower which has a bit of everything. Unfortunately nothing stood out as being good. The ribs were dry as hell and covered in an entire pepper mill worth of pepper. The pulled pork was ok, but I think it's because they had covered it in their box-standard bbq sauce. The fries were dry and again over seasoned. The chicken wings were over cooked, dry and basically burnt. Honestly really disappointed and would never return, I can't understand any of the positive reviews for this place. Have people never tried food before? Also the service was beyond bizarre and weird. You could hear the front of house and the kitchen staff with their "banter" chatting about trading burgers for massages.

We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant. Ordered a bbq tower for 2. The portions were huge but that was pretty much the only positive. The food wasn't smoked, mostly burnt to a crisp and fried. Pepper seasoning overdone on everything so couldn't taste much else. I would avoid.

Staff we so rude, I called them to tell them that i was going to be a few minutes late to what they tell me if anymore than 15 mins our table will be cancelled which is fair play we arrive at 8:40 (our table was booked for 8:30) one member of staffs attitude to us was disgusting the place was pretty much empty so it’s not like we were holding anyone up then the whole service was disgusting food was decent tho wouldn’t come again

They had a small peppery kick but it enhanced the flavours rather than overpowering them. The bacon was a bit fattier than I'd like but that's the only fault I could make and it was still one of the best burgers I've had which is a strong compliment. I had the slaw too which was also delicious and a big portion too. They did manage to forget the pulled pork but made up for it with a generous pile of it after I mentioned it. I've only just realised I also ended up with a slice of brisket instead of the burnt ends as listed on the menu. Fortunately I love brisket on a burger and enjoyed it no less I'm sure. BURNT FOOD. THEY REFUSED TO REFUND

Was super excited to try this place, used Ubereats for it so I guess this review doesn’t reflect ordering and service in the restaurant. We ordered the combo and side of burnt ends. The only thing that wasn’t dry and didn’t need marinading with our cupboard BBQ sauce was the smoked sausage. We were so disappointed with the quality of food and the burnt ends appeared to be just shredded beef. I’d recommend that Bare Grills supply a big pot of homemade BBQ sauce to marinade the meat with

I had double cheese burger with bacon which I rate 9/10, Mac and cheese was tasty, dirty fries tasty so that was all pretty good, The ribs my missis had were pretty dry and didn't have much meat on at all, tbh seemed more liked some marinated bones, Maybe an off batch, won't hold it against them as the rest was very good.

We had a great time at Bare Grills the staff where very friendly and helpful as we was early bit still got a table the food was very good great BBQ food I had the pulled pork with bacon loaded fries which was very good very tasty and plenty of bacon use they BBQ sauce its sweet and tangy goes well with the pulled pork and on the fries my daughter had the BBQ pork ribs small with curly fries she really enjoyed and ordered some curly fries to takeaway lol I ended the meal with a mint aero sundae which was very nice too, overall a great experience great friendly service and good atmosphere as well.

While the restaurant is very small, it makes up for it the food, it's outstanding. From the burgers to the ribs to the onion rings, everything is just perfect

It's ok, the burgers are better than other premium brand burger places. They now do a great lunch time offer of burger and a drink, which is worthwhile taking up. Service has always been slow even when quiet.

Poor customer service!! Didn’t even get in the restaurant!!! We had a reservation in which we turned up on time for and we were told to come back in 30 mins as there’s no staff. We waited 30 mins and returned to be told they still weren’t open as they are still waiting for staff. This was a hour after their opening time stated on there door. Got no apology… we were not locals and deliberately waited an extra two hours of our day to eat at this restaurant so we were most disappointed. Also a bit of advice to Bare grills… put on your website that you are closed at lunchtimes!!

Disgraceful place. 5* Reviews are fake. They delivered crazy overpriced food in an open box, that spilled everywhere in the bag, ruining the food. Forgot the drink. Ignored all requests to solve the issue. Have zero way to contact as too cowardly to answer the phone. 100% Avoid this place.

I genuinely can not complain about the food and service it was 100% from start to finish. The food was cooked well and tasted great. The service was exactly what it should be friendly and enough visibility that you k ow your being looked after but your not being interrupted whilst you eat. The atmosphere was wonderful the music was good and the place was clean.

Haven't gotten around to writing this review since visiting in November, however I remember it being a very good time and I am looking forward to going back! The food was excellent and we had a lovely waitress called Danni who was very friendly. I recommend.

Good customer service and the food was delicious

Average as it gets. In terms of BBQ places around Bristol this one is not the greatest. Had the BBQ tower things so got a bit of everything.

Top food, really enjoyable. Service was a little slow but it's a small restaurant and I'd arrived between two decent sized tables of people so 🤷‍♂️ Overall, would definitely recommend but due to the size, probably worth calling ahead and making a reservation. I'll be back next time I'm in Bristol, for sure!

Dined here for the first time today. Food was horrible. The meat was dry and tasteless. This restaurant is suppose to be known as a smokehouse yet the food tastes like it had all just been chucked in the oven for 20mins.

Think there's a lot of BBQ options in Bristol. Not sure if the price was worth what we recieved, there are other restaurants that do similar things for better value for money. The Dirty fries were alright, the ribs were nice. But the rest of the mixed platter I had was sort of average, the Brisket was unfortunately quite dry and burned ends weren't included. The service was good though, friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

Fairly average burgers and fries. We went there because their menu boasts BBQ burnt ends, which I love. Big disappointment. They weren't proper burnt ends at all. Tough, undercooked cubes of beef in the usual high sugar and salt bbq sauce you can buy in a bottle from Aldi.

C'ero già stato diversi anni fa. "Piatto forte" era la sfida della ciccia: Un piatto stracolmo di carne di ogni tipo, cotta alla griglia. Uno spazio spartano con un lungo tavolo per mangiare tutti insieme. Oggi si è rifatto il look e "rivisto" le porzioni. Quella in foto è la versione 2.0, mooolto più piccola ma sempre con prodotti di ottima qualità. Assolutamente da provare! Essendo un locale piccolo nella zona universitaria, specialmente nel weekend, è meglio prenotare (si può fare anche online) onde evitare una inutile passeggiata in salita

Food amazing, could not fault it. Would have been a 5 but staff taking the orders lacked any engagement or enthusiasm and not much atmosphere. Food alone was delicious and cooked very well.

Brilliant little smokehouse on the clifton triangle. The food was lovely and inexpensive. The atmosphere was absolutely great. And the staff were really good at their job and helped us out (we walked in on the fly hoping to get a table as it was early and we hadn't booked)

We visited the Weston-super-Mare branch of bare Grills and it was amazing. Soft, juicy meat and burgers to die for. However the Bristol branch really let's the side down. Brisket that had been grilled??? And subsequently was like leather along with no smokey taste to any meat. Shame but won't visit a Bare Grills again 😕

Very decent food for a good price.

Was looking forward to this, been on my list since Grillstock closed. The general vibe and music are good, feels warm and friendly. Service was just about ok, our waitress seemed knackered and mentally half clocked out. The food: I had the bare grill combo and the brisket, ribs and chicken wings were dry and tough; the chicken wings were especially terrible; super hard and dry like they'd been deep fried for ages. The pulled pork, slaw and sausage were good, the crispy jalapenos were nice but only had 3 of them, bread roll was bread roll. Disappointed.

Awful food. Awful quality spent £40 on a huge amount of food. Didn’t eat hardly any of it. Asked for a refund and haven’t heard anything since after they said they’d contact us. Avoid at all costs just go to spitfire if you want decent meat.

Good food nice people good atmosphere

Got the 'Tower' for partner and I. I can only presume they source their meats from heaven as that was some of the juiciest and tastiest food I had in a while. Well done chefs, well done serving staff. I will come back for your challenge at some point once I've made some space in my belly.
