The food (starters especially the Asian crispy beef) was exquisite. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly as requested. Ellie was an absolute star, credit to the company 😊

After a long, stressful exam, I wandered into the bar in desperate need of something to take the edge off — and that’s when I met Duncan. From the moment I sat down, he made the entire experience feel like a reward. He’s not just a bartender; he’s an absolute legend behind the bar. Duncan has that rare combination of genuine warmth, effortless charm, and spot-on drink intuition. He asked how my day was going, and when I mentioned the exam, he immediately congratulated me and said, “Let’s celebrate that win properly.” The drink he made? Perfection. Honestly, one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had — balanced, bold, and somehow exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Throughout the evening, Duncan kept the vibe relaxed and upbeat. His attention to detail, his sense of humor, and the way he made everyone at the bar feel welcome — it turned what could’ve been a quick drink into a highlight of my entire week. Wow what an amazing brunch. After doing many brunches around Bristol this has definitely jumped to the number 1 spot. Amazing food and fantastic service from our host Tara who made our experience so memorable. Highly recommend, we will definitely be returning.

Came in for drinks mainly and a small bite to eat service by Sophie and George was outstanding had the burnt ends which are to die for and the 14oz ribeye which was a perfect med rare drinks were great as well loved the peach mojito they do it is really good

Really felt like a steak so we stopped off for some food at Bar and Block, and wow !!!! Vanessa cooked our steaks to perfection, extremely tender and catered to our every need. Will definitely be coming again, thank you for the wonderful food !!

We came here for Mother’s Day, starters were probably the best part of the meal. Burnt beef ends were lovely. Cocktails were lovely too. Mains weren’t great. The beef was dry, the veg was under cooked, the gravy was bland, there really wasn’t any flavour going through it. We had pre ordered as requested. Initially someone had chosen the seabass but changed her mind, to which I emailed 2 or 3 days before our booking to change her order, when the waitress approached our table she came with the original order sheet and questioned my sister when she said I’m having a roast to which I replied ‘I emailed a couple of days before to change it’ she walked off and nothing else was said. When the mains arrived our son’s steak was well done, he had requested it be medium rare. It was so well done he left most of it as it was dry & bland and not how he likes his steak. We would have asked for it to be sent back but he’s only 7 and was so hungry by this point he just wanted to eat. Desserts were ok although we had pre-ordered, a couple of desserts were unavailable, 7 people received their puddings whilst I had to wait 5-10 minutes until my Eton Mess came out bearing in mind another person on my table had the same pudding as me. It would’ve been nice to been made aware before. Unfortunately the service of the waiting staff wasn’t good enough in our eyes, slow food service, staff didn’t come across happy and chatty. They weren’t very busy when we arrived maybe 5 other tables in. The toilets were filthy, sinks not clean, toilet paper on the floor, the lock on one door didn’t lock properly. Compared to other steak restaurants we’ve been to this is probably the worst.

Food was over-seasoned. Forgot one starter (then turned up burnt 10 mins later after asking twice) Meat was lacking in quantity. Drinks were OK. 2 deserts out of 9 were sold out even though we pre-ordered 2 weeks in advance. Would not chose this place if I had a choice of 2.

Empezó bien, cálida bienvenida aunque la ciudad estaba ocupada y solo había otra fiesta en el restaurante aparte de nosotros. Nos contrataron para el brunch sin fondo y nos explicaron que traerían una botella de Prosecco y luego cuando eso estuviera terminado, otra botella y así sucesivamente. Pedimos nuestra comida. La comida estaba bien, tuvimos tacos de pollo, porción bastante pequeña pero sabrosa (papas fritas muy picantes). Terminamos la primera botella de Prosecco y nos trajeron otra rápidamente. Una vez que Prosecco estuvo sobre la mesa volvieron a la mesa solo una vez para limpiar nuestros platos. No nos preguntaron si queríamos un postre, más agua o más bebidas. Nadie pasó por delante de nuestra mesa. Logramos llamar la atención de la camarera para pedir el postre. Todavía nos quedaban unos 40 minutos, pero no nos trajeron más bebidas ni nos preguntaron si queríamos más a pesar de que nuestra botella vacía estaba boca abajo en el refrigerador. Finalmente, cuando la camarera trajo nuestro postre, nos preguntó si queríamos un vaso más antes de que se acabara nuestro tiempo. Realmente tuvimos mucho tiempo para otra botella, pero sentimos que la camarera evitó nuestra mesa, así que no tenía que traernos uno a menos que preguntáramos, que por supuesto podríamos haber hecho, pero eso no es un gran servicio. En un brunch sin fondo, tus bebidas deben fluir libremente. Probablemente no nos apresuraríamos a volver basándonos en nuestra experiencia.

The food was nice, and the steaks were tasty and cooked well. However, there was an issue with the Mac and Cheese side; it didn't arrive with the main meal, and when it finally did, it had a puddle of oil on top and didnt look at all appetising. I sent it back, and there were no issues removing it from the bill. While we were waiting for the dessert menu, the staff made the unusual decision to ask for ID for my 17-year-old son, who was drinking the Rekorderlig cider that I had ordered for him. He had been drinking it since we sat down. According to UK law, if you’re 16 or 17 and accompanied by an adult, you can drink (but not buy) beer, wine or cider with a meal in a restaurant. so I'm not sure what the problem was and the staff just said they had a policy to ID if you did not look 25! (would suggest they do this when the customer orders rather than wait until 3/4 of the drink is gone and the meal is almost finished). This incident kind of spoiled the evening for us, so I decided to pay and leave without having a dessert.

Came here for a catch up weekend with the lads for a bottomless brunch and had a great time. Food was quick and simple and Tara our waitress was fantastic. She kept us fuelled with cocktails and didn’t hesitate to come over and keep asking us if we wanted anything. She looked after us and had some good banter also ☺️ would definitely recommend this place.

Compared to other steak restaurants in Bristol (of equal cost), this was poor. Dirty glasses, 2 cold bottles of red wine, very sad looking asparagus and a rib eye which was a bit tough. I wouldn't eat here again.

First time eating here on Valentine’s day. Ellie our server was so lovely! She took great care of us. We were given a cocktail on arrival. The salt and pepper squid starter was heavenly! The steak was perfect, and the eton mess was very nice. Really enjoyed our evening out together, surrounded by other couples in a cosy environment with low lighting that felt really romantic. Only thing I could fault was probably that the ladies bathroom was very dusty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Other than that it was a perfect Valentine’s Day meal ❤️ p.s. sorry Ellie that my girlfriends laugh kept making you laugh when serving other tables 🤣

The Chateaubriand was cold and undercooked. Had to be sent back. Sides came out at different times. Onion rings forgotten about. Mushrooms were swimming in water. Atmosphere was nice and the waitress was attentive and apologetic however food really disappointing.

Well I ordered a chheesburger and asked that the bun be replaced with the house salad.as per the menu. When it came I found that the hose salad cosists of a handful of green leaves and some onion. exactly the same as the toping on the burgerI asked where the other ingredients where the sweetcorn the cherry tomatoes etc were And was told that what I had was the house salad.

1st time we've been there.very disappointing.charge £18.50 for the mighty burger.have to buy your chips separate.no garnish, nothing.moyonise in a sache. Smallest burger ever. Have to buy everything separate. Big Rip Off .

The food is great but the service is the opposite. We booked a table for 4 for boxing day. We looked at the menu beforehand online and also outside of their restaurant. They advertised outside their restaurant with a lunch menu of 3 courses for £15.95 Monday-Friday. It was a Thursday so we were going to go for that menu. We go in and they say the only thing that is available is the Christmas menu....even though Christmas is over but okay. We look at the Christmas menu, we were going to get the tapas to share.....not available either. The other things that was left did not have prices so we asked about them in this order.... ...The beef roast dinner....not available. ...The turkey roast dinner....not available. The waitress had to keep going back and fourth to find out the prices of the food we ordered because they are not displayed on the menu. It's not her fault but maybe next time she could have taken a picture on the prices instead of going back and fourth from our table to the system. We eneded up ordering a burger, fish, shortrib and a steak 'platter' or 'sampler' or whatever it was called because it was not that. They said it was a board of different cuts of steak. I didn't manage to take a picture but it was small cuts of sirloin steak and probably rump. It was way overpriced for what it was :) The food did taste good but the service was just bad. Don't advertise what you have in the front of the restaurant and not actually have it.

We had a really good food experience here. We tried a lot of the dishes including the scallops, crispy beef, salt+pepper squid, prawn flatbread, festive loaded burger, and steak sampler off of the festive menu. Was very happy with all of the dishes and thought the seafood was prepared better than most places we’ve gone to eat in Bristol. Definitely recommend.

Bristol - Dreadful experience, food was terrible. Over cooked fish and prawns, freezing cold steak, asked for medium rare but it was rare, had to send it back. Potatos tasted like they had been in the fridge too long. Sauces were questionable! The only good thing was the service and drinks. A total waste of £106! I had taken my daughter there for her birthday and I didn't want to cause fuss so I paid!!

Cuando salieron eran dos tamaños completamente diferentes a pesar de que ambos pidieron 8 oz. Preguntamos esto con el gerente de nuevo que dijo que se debía a la contracción en la cocina. Esto no es correcto, ya que eran pesos claramente diferentes. Pero ella reemplazó el más pequeño por otro. Las mini patatas tampoco se cocinaron. Durante toda la noche fuimos testigos de cómo el gerente rechazaba a personas que no tenían reserva cuando claramente tenían mesas disponibles. Era como si realmente no quisieran hacer ningún negocio esa noche. La experiencia en general no merecía la etiqueta de precio y la calidad de los alrededores, así que nos quedamos muy decepcionados.

Nuestro servidor Gavin era fantástico - tan servicial y paciente - incluso cuando estábamos haciendo múltiples preguntas, nada era demasiado problema - lo que un activo para el negocio. Please stop calling yourselves a "steakhouse". Had to send my steak back 2 times, and 3rd time I just gave up, as I've already waited for 2h by then. All cuts were different sizes and weights, so, definitely inconsistent from the get go. Really, really disappointed with our experience. Really ruined the birthday date.

So disappointed . We booked for our 10th wedding anniversary . As this was a special day for us we decided to go to a proper steak house .. because you would expect to get a good steak ! My steak was lovely but my wife's was a shocker ... it was so rubbery you could have used it for a tennis ball . As soon as it came out you could tell it wasn't a good one , we asked for another but waitress told us the chef had turned off the grill ! 8:30 on a Thursday night , no wonder the place was empty . The steak was taken off the bill but that isn't the issue , we then had to share my steak otherwise my wife would have had no meal . You could easily get a better steak at your local Lidl or Aldi ! ( no offence to all the other supermarket's ) The price for steaks are very expensive so you would expect a good quality steak ! The price of the extras isn't good either , i upgraded my steak to have giant prawns @ £6 ... 2 very small king prawns came out £3 a prawn bit much , my wife ordered a side of grilled asparagus , it was like 3 pieces of string ! Unfortunately a very disappointing night , we wont be going back .

Food was lovely, came quick, steak was lovely more. My husband's was more on the rare side than medium rare (Fillet 12oz) but was still delicious. Loved the mexican rub on my steak. Would have liked more side options like Mac N cheese etc. Biggest steak size is 12oz. Sides were on the small side.

Gran ubicación junto al río y en la esquina de una de las calles famosas de Bristol. Mojito ‘s eran excelentes, Ellie nos cuidó bien y los filetes eran buenos junto con el entrante de carne de res rallada. La única mancha en el copybook fue la actualización del filete de añadir vieiras canadienses - 2 por £ 6 ! , , usar escocés y añadir otros dos.

40 min after ordering the food, We where informed that a new peace of meat was put on the oven and no forecast of when it will be served. It was 12 clock and the place was empty . Lack of management, Don’t recommend .

Came into bar and block on a rainy Monday afternoon, honestly made my day the food was spectacular. The stunning blonde woman (Amber) gave 10/10 service and extremely attentive. Claiming a "greater representation through stretching targets around gender and ethnicity" is all well and good until it's interferes with quality. The two mid-rare Fillets order and not eaten were blue and had to fight to get and sort of money off. The atmosphere should have been a giveaway when outside was buzzing and inside was empty. I applaud your drive for equality but when it is at the expense of good food, I won't be back

Been quite a few times, it's a nice steak house with selection of different cuts, quality is lovely, can't go wrong with the ribeye steak. Staff are lovely, if anything goes wrong they will try to accommodate you and have been offered free drinks when food was late. I always return due to being a decent quality steak.

Stay a lot in premier inns and always look for the bar n block restaurants, this was the worst meal I’ve had at a bar n block and possible ever had. Crispy beef starter was a small sloppy cold salad different to every other restaurant. I had it re made but arrived after the main was finished. The brisket beef burger was missing onions, on a dry non toasted bun with a tiny amount of beef (£19). Some stuff also had poor attitudes.

Restaurant atmosphere seemed nice, unfortunately one particular female staff member was exceptionally rude when I asked if I had correctly paid £4.50 for a petty full amount of chips in a LARGE BOX.. I had also ordered a mojioto which arrived 80% ice and 20% mojito which cost £10. To be shouted at by staff in a quiet restaurant, was frankly humiliating. Plenty of nice bites on king street which offer better value for money & excellent customer service. Very disappointed with a seemingly lovely venue.

Amazing service by Cormac and Duncan! We had such a great night, mostly thanks to these dudes, and will def come back. Cormac has that easy Irish charm, he's great craic! Duncan's skin is radiant, glowing, iridescent, and luminous - just like his personality! Xxxxx

Amazing staff and food, I would recommend this restaurant in Bristol, steaks are of great quality and cooked well and to order... Their inhouse steak sauce took me back to Australia so good.

The food was ok, the service was ok… the whole visit was ‘ok’. Ordered two steaks - a fillet and a rump - and couldn’t tell which was which, but both cooked correctly. Chips fresh, onion rings lovely.

Definately gone down hill since I came a few years ago. Over cooked broccoli, onion rings appear pre packaged as well as the peppercorn sauce. Basic bistro quality with a steakhouse price tag.

The area in the Old City is characterized by many pubs and restaurants, the Block Steakhouse is recommended. Good quality. Modern furnishings.

A good clean large place to eat. The staff that served us (Tara and Cormac) were both excellent; really friendly and efficient. It was Sunday so we went for a Sunday Roast (1 lamb and 1 beef). It took a while to arrive (mid-afternoon) but was a good helping. However, it had obviously been reheated. The lamb was tough and the beef was dry. The parsnips were actually burnt to black. Worse part was that the Yorkshire pudding was not defrosted properly and half of it was icy cold. Sadly, even though the serving staff were excellent and understanding (they did offer free dessert or coffee), it is not a place I will return to. It will also make me wary of other branches.

Tara is amazing. Dealing with a 20 x bunch of nearly and over 50 year old who have been drinking since 1pm, don't know what they have ordered and wants 10 x cocktails for happy hour. Bringing all dinners iut in good time and smiling bringing cocktail after cocktail. What a trooper. Annie was also super doooer..... didn't see anyone else but whoever made the cocktails and made our dinners . Top class. X
