We went last Saturday for breakfast to Bampton Garden Centre, which is always worth a visit. We buy all of our plants and trees from them. The breakfast was marvellous as usual. I had Avocado on toast with 2 poached eggs, which is my favourite. OH had a vegetarian breakfast and the sausage tasted surprisingly good.

Sunday lunchtime on a sunny day in March was always going to be busy at a garden centre. We had to queue to wait to be seated. The staff appeared to be very organised and efficient. Tables were being cleared, cleaned and the next visitors seated as soon as possible. Orders taken and food arriving within a reasonable time given how very full it was. Having worked in a similar environment I know how exhausting it is and would like to commend the staff on their hard work and pleasant demeanour. The food was very good. Simple, fresh, nicely presented. Everything was clean and overall we enjoyed our visit. Definitely recommend.

Sinead, cafe manager, and her team always look after us well as we regularly go to Bampton for weekend lunches. This time we were spending a voucher but they sorted it out quickly and easily, even the extra take-away cakes! The menu has good gluten-free and vegetarian options and the food is always tasty. The service is consistently good and the staff are helpful. The cafe is light and comfortable, with lots of plants, of course! Highly recommended, especially the excellent quiches, which change daily in the specials board. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Worth noting that hot food need to be ordered before 2pm but sandwiches etc can be ordered later.

My friend treated me to lunch for my recent birthday. I had a baked potato and she had a quiche. I’m a big fan of places doing a simple menu then doing it well. I liked the fact the messy stuff like coleslaw and dressing came in their own little bowls so if you didn’t want them all over your food you can keep it separate. The service isn’t the fastest but to be fair it was extremely busy and all the staff were very polite and helpful. We then had coffee and cake, also very nice. We sat in the outside area as it felt a little fresher on a warm day and inside was heaving. Clearly word has got out this is the place to have lunch, and this was a random Wednesday. Would recommend though possibly not if you’re in a rush, but who rushes round a garden centre?

Very good from start to finish. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional and there was no argument when my two elderly friends wanted to share their order as I'd warned them about the large portions - the waitress happily brought a spare plate. No argument either when we all paid separately. Nothing was too much trouble.

After standing by the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign with other customers in front and behind, we all agreed to seat ourselves. It then took quite some time to spot someone to bring a menu. After ordering we waited almost 30 minutes and on chasing was told there was a backlog! By the time coffee and cake arrived my daughter and her toddler were stressed and just wanted to leave. Such a disappointing outing and the staff were unapologetic and disinterested.

Excellent cafe in a lovely setting with all the plants & mirrors creating a cosy atmosphere. Decent choice on the menu, I'm a fussy eater but had lots of choice & combine your own elements for panini's, baguettes & potatoes is a nice touch as normally I have to ask without certain bits. Quick, friendly service & lovely food. Generous portions left me comfortably full. Will definitely be back.

This is our favourite venue for coffee, lunch or on this occasion, breakfast with friends. It can get busy… (that’s a good a sign, right?) but it’s always friendly and relaxing and we never tire of sitting amongst the large plants enjoying the food… which is excellent. We regularly have cooked breakfasts or lunches like three-filling baguette with salad or chilli jacket potato and we’ve never been disappointed. On this occasion Tara took our order. This was a nice looking hotel in a lovely area. It is just scraping the 4 stars I have decided to rate it though because there were several points that were disappointing but none of them huge deals to me. However, one of the points should really have been a bigger deal to The Vines because, after booking, my details were clearly compromised somewhere along the line. I had booked via a third party site so it may have been their fault. I received SEVERAL emails and then WhatsApp messages from what was clearly a scam trying to get me to confirm my booking and payment via strange links. I called The Vines directly to confirm the booking and explain that I had received these communications but the lady who answered my call had no interest in the GDPR breach and simply confirmed my booking. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to school her as to how that could have serious implications for the business. I had managed to get the messages to stop before I called. When we arrived at around 19:30 for our stay, we were informed that no food was being served because they were undergoing renovations. It wasn't the fault of the polite, young man who told us but we felt this should have been communicated prior to our arrival. Fortunately, we weren't that hungry and we did have snacks in our bag. Unfortunately, there wasn't a refrigerator in the room to keep them in despite the room description saying there was. There were many other things missing too- sugar for the tea making facilities, hand towels, TV remote for example. Also, when I booked it said I could bring my dog and this appeared to be at no extra cost. After I had paid for the booking I received a message telling me I had to pay more money on arrival to bring my dog. I wasn't asked to pay this when I got there thankfully. We were placed in an upstairs room and would've preferred a downstairs one since we had our dog with us but there was a decent green area to allow him to eliminate and a footpath opposite the hotel where we could give him a brief leg stretch before we set off the next day. The room was clean and spacious enough too, and the breakfast area was very nice, and our cooked breakfast was also good, and we appreciated it being included in the price. The location was great for us and made it easy to explore pretty Cotswolds villages and towns within a short drive as well as Jeremy Clarkson's pub. There's a lovely big garden centre for browsing in nearby in Burford but, if you're bringing your dog like us, it's not dog friendly sadly. I may consider staying at The Vines again in future, because I'm sure we'll revisit the area but it would depend on the prices.

Went for dinner and a few drinks. Both of which were very nice. Would recommend

Utterly charming village pub completely let down by the hostile attitude of the owner. We pulled up intending to have a beer and some lunch and visit churchills grave 3 mins over the road and were subjected to a screaming session from the owner who had just pulled up and was displeased about the amount of cars in the car park. Turns out the primary school opposite had an early finish and parents had used her car park for collection. We had to enter the pub to register our numberplate anyway, and even after telling her we would be returning for lunch after walking over to the grave site (c. 10 mins total when we later went) she continued screaming that she didnt care and we had to move our car, and followed us into the pub, continuing to shout infront of lunchtime customers, even continuing after her barman explained about the early school leaving. We paid for a beer as the car park was then too full of people to move the car easily, but decided we weren't spending lunch there. Car park was empty before half a pint was finished so we moved to the opposite side of the road and visited the grave site as planned. For a countryside 'community pub', that reception was unacceptable. I understand issues with parking around school time but that is part of being a community, and easily manageable without being aggressive to customers. Rural pub footfall is based on ramblers and walkers visiting and being so close to a national landmark must be a huge benefit to their footfall so I am unsure why, if there was such an issue on a private site, signage or other means couldn't have been used, or communication to the school/parents regarding her wishes
