Bake Out in Adur

We love going to Bake Out for a baked potato lunch and a coffee. The lunch is very tasty and the coffee a really nice blend and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Its also dog friendly which is important to us. We will remain regulars for sure! :-)

Atrocious attitude displayed towards us, 2grannies, 67 and 67 yr. old and our grand children, boy and girl 3/5 yrs old. We were treating them after school. 3 hot choc, a scone, a delicious biscuit and tea, total £17.00+. Quite good quality food and service until my grandson spilled his chocolate. I was annoyed, but he is a child. I offered to clean up, by mopping up with tissues, which i did. The staff were unhelpfully unwelcome at this point. No prentention of sympathy or understanding was made. And certainly no thanks for my cleaning up.

Impossible to get any TooGoodToGo bags from here, as if someone has a robot to purchase all the bags within millisecond. I loved getting food from this bakery but only if I got them through food waste saving platforms.

This place is more than just a cafe / bakery. Yes they have delicious baked goods, tasty drinks and wonderful service but what really stands out is that it's a place for people to come together. You often see the same people enjoying the bakery's offerings whilst chatting, laughing and experiencing the community that has been formed. It makes my heart smile. The hardworking team that keep people fueled with food, drink and a friendly face are just fabulous and make a positive impact each day. Thank you.

Staff are amazing here feels proper local and they actually value your custom the food choices are very goood from hot and cold snacks to fresh baked products and the coffee is good and strong. Quality is alot better than you would get at the major high street retailer that does similar to a bakery

Great coffee, great sausage rolls and great staff

Exceptionally good pastries and the bread is a cut above all the other local artisan bakeries in the Brighton & Hove area. Southwick Square is also a lovely bit of 1960’s architecture and has a good chippy and butchers amongst other shops. Worth a visit.

Myself and 2 daughters went in for a mocha and 2 hot chocolates. Very busy but the 3 ladies in there done a great job, stayed calm and smashed it out. Great job ladies!

Hours state open till 4, not the case, door was unlocked etc, nothing to suggest it's closed, eventually told its closed and I explained everywhere including your door says you're open. Looked at me like I was an inconvenience and like the error was my fault. Came out to Southwick specially to visit said bakery only to be treated poorly by staff who didn't even have the decency to apologise for the error in closing times. They even still had stock on the shelves so would not have even been a hassle to serve me (maybe they wanted the produce for themselves or didn't care it would be going into a bin). I won't attempt to supply them with business again, no matter how great my friends say their stuff is. Certainly won't be reccomending them.

Had 2 coffee, not bad, panini on other hand like raw dough, warmed didnt help, shame.

The cheese straws are the best I have ever tasted. Great range of sandwiches, pastries and fresh bread too. Always friendly and inviting.

Best baked goods in the square 🔥

Last Friday there was a lovely guy serving, however this Friday I left without even ordering!! Two female staff members were totally ignorant and extremely rude!!!! The whole shop had a completely unwelcoming feel, was colder inside than outside the shop, even in November 😬 But the sandwich shop across the road were more than helpful and friendly, they warmed up the girls sausage rolls and even took the time to speak to my daughters.

Went into this bakery for the first time to pick up some lunch. What a disappointment. 2 very dry ciabatta, containing flaccid lettuce and cucumber with barely any tuna. £10 for 2 of these and 2 cokes. Will not be returning.

Visited the cafe during lockdown when just offering take away .. the staff have always been friendly and the coffee always fresh and hot . Now that the cafe is open to sit down , my only criticism would be that the tables could be cleaned more frequently especially with the current situation. The table next to us was dirty even though the staff weren’t serving at the time . This wouldn’t stop us from returning though

Expensive, Went in Sunday morning for a coffee and sausage roll, Sausage roll was dry and tasteless, probably left over from Saturday and just warmed up, Shame really because I like to shop local, don`t think I`ll rush back, Cheese straws very good

I am very pleased to see Bake Out back in business after the recent refurbishment and lockdown. I have always found their products to be first class and look forward to a time when they can get all their usual services up and running The new set up is very much welcome.

I went there yesterday for the first time ever. All that was left was a loaf that was too large for a single person I asked if the server could cut this in half so I could freeze half. Not only did she do this with a smile but also provided a freezer bag for me. And the bread is yummy I will be going there again and again

i go in bake out a lot, always lovely food and the staff are so nice and friendly and always up for a chat! i would 100% recommend the cheese scones they are to die for !!!

Poor bacon roll with sauce served minus sauce and grudgingly warmed up young gent needs C S up skill methinks but this enterprise is a welcome presence in the Square used them as S in the S was closed won't hurry back great products here but not the service to match

Always friendly and welcoming in Bake out. Prices are reasonable and they make good coffee plus they offer lots of alternative milks

It's official, I am a regular at this coffee shop. I am here several times in the week buying my latte and more often than not, cheese straws as they are scrummy. The staff are fantastic and often stop to have a chat. Take time out and go to bake out!

Nice place. Good coffee. Croissants very fresh and buttery. Staff friendly and quick. Sat in for about 40 mins. Always someone in the shop. Nice atmosphere. Will be back again soon.👍

Good food, shame that last time I was in there a lady with purple hair who worked there was screaming and shouting at another member of staff so loudly we could hear everything that was being said. Very unprofessional and embarrassing.

Went here for lunch. Good selection of pies, toasties and jackets. Very friendly.

Very good quality pastries and drinks, fast service. How ever my fav morning snack (sausage bap) varies with the amount of sausages. Sometimes 2 sometimes 1.5. Not a major issue tho.

It's a pretty good bakery. Vast improvement over the Forfars that used to exist here many years ago. Pastries, desserts, toasties, coffee, bread loafs, etc etc, everything you would expect. All of a high quality, although a little pricey. There is some seating and the interior is pleasant enough, but I can easily imagine it filling up at lunch time.

From Monday to Saturday staff are really friendly, just like a good cafe / bakery should be.

I like their savoury pastries and they do nice ice coffees in the summer. I am concerned about their customer service occasionally. They are usually quite friendly but being a small village, don't expect to be served quickly by any means. I've tried stopping there a couple times before work only to realize that the staff are mostly in the back even when there's a queue. They seem to have a policy of only having one staff on the counter at a time. So all in all, if you're not in a hurry, give it a try, But on the whole, needs some adjusting customer service wise... Or I may have just not adjusted to a slower pace of life.

The shop sells a great choice of breads and savouries and cakes and their coffee is really good too.

Staff clearly don't want to be here. Lady service my mum and I didn't understand which food I was asking for, even though I repeated the name and pointed. Felt like they didn't know what they were selling. Bad attitude and work ethic from this worker in particular, who wiped off a lipstick mark from a glass of water I asked for.Also ordered a tea, which came filled to the absolute brim and already had milk in - I don't have much milk in tea, so this was not ideal. Food was bland and mediocre, I didn't have high expectations but did not think I would have this bad of an experience.That being said, their homemade bread is lovely.

I frequently visit Bake Out for various items. The staff are always so friendly and have a smile for you. Never have any of my family been disappointed with the products they sell... it’s a 10/10 from me !!!!

When Forfars went bust Bake Out took its place. Fairly good selection and very nice its a bit more pricey then your average Greggs but nicer.

Nice place for a good coffee and fresh pastry

Frequent this bakery/cafe fairly regularly. Bakery is fairly decent, the only let down... the coffee is poor quality and sometimes poorly made. I go there less now due to the coffee. Friendly service nonetheless.

Excellent cheese straws and cheese and marmite straws just a bit pricy

Some of the dryest pastries I've ever had in my life. So if you like very low fat high carb dry pastries, this is the place for you. If you like buttery, creamy, flaky savouries, then this is NOT the place for you. Either misunderstanding of healthy eating, or saving money on butter/oil. Regardless, I don't like the food here at all.

They provide nice selection of savoury, cakes and sandwiches. Love their homemade cornish pasties.

Visited a few times since it has changed from the old forfars which once stood here. Seems a clean place to visit and staff seem friendly, only off putting thing for me is the prices of some items Vs the quality.

I've been to bake out before in Southwick and had decent rolls and a good cheese and bacon slice but I had a pasty from there today and was pretty disgusting. It had a sort of congealed gravy clinging to the meat and veg. The pastry was also under cooked on the inside and overall was very disappointing. My experience is that pasties can vary a lot but never had one before that made my mouth feel claggy and leave me wanting to brush my teeth. Also everything is on the expensive side too so it's extra disappointing.

Friendly staff - great that Southwick Square has a few choices for food on the go..However Bake Out could defiantly improve there products, their artisan breads are lacking quality.

Been a few times, everything has always been very tasty.

I came here recently just to grab a quick bite to eat and a coffee, and have visited briefly over the past few months also. The staff always seem very disinterested, and not entirely welcoming. The food is nice, I would recommend the salmon and cream cheese sandwich or one of their pastries. If only the staff were a little more lively and welcoming I would happily rate this 5/5.

This is the highlight of southwick square which is pretty uneventful otherwise. Great hot pastries and doughnuts.
