Lovely pub, staff were very accommodating for our large groups

Could do with a bit of a spruce up.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was really delicious, would recommend and would go again.

Def not wheelchair accessible no ramp into side door and front door has 3 steep steps.Food average and very noisy. Although ordered bar food took half an hour to come and was luke warm.

Love cosy pub.. Great staff, lovely service and lovely food..Real reliable bolt hole, close to the sea front.. A no brained. Pay for what you get. Lovely waitress even took time to take a family photo for us.

English's of Brighton is an iconic seafood restaurant and oyster bar and this was my first visit. The food was delicious and more than lived up to the restaurants reputation. I had the fish pie which was divine, full of fish and flavour. Our group also thoroughly enjoyed the seabass and classic fish and chips. A must go destination for seafood and champagne.

It's hard to get a seat. Nice staff, and the food looked amazing.

I like this pub it has a nice atmosphere. We going there quite often with friends and always have fun with the waitress called Lola. She does a really good costumer service. She is great in her job

Nice atmosphere but Sunday roast may have been the worst I’ve ever had - not good quality product, many quite obviously cooked from frozen, boiled rather tasteless vegetables

I liked their food menu as it had light bites and sharing meals. We had come in for a drink, and were not really hungry, so the sharer food was ideal for us to nibble at! Lovely staff too!! 🥰

Amazing vegan sunday roast. We went back another day and they were sold out by 4pm! Lovely vegan starters as well. Meat dishes available as well but we are vegetarians who like vegan food.

Stopped in for a light lunch whilst on a short holiday, found this pub to be a calm island amongst the bustle of the town. Very pleasant staff who offered advice, made conversation, made us feel welcome. Food was traditional pub food (standard Greene King menu) very nicely done, we enjoyed it enough that we returned for lunch on the last day of our break.

Nice pub quieter during the day and pretty lively at night with a nice selection of beers on tap.

Friendly staff. The chain has stopped selling local beers, which is a real shame considering it's location.

We visited on 23/08/23 and the staff were brilliant Aa I have problems with my back they bought a more comfortable chair with blankets for me to sit outside on We had a lovely afternoon sitting outside in the square Thank you 😊

We were pushed on to a table so small we had trouble eating. Service was slow. Food was average and the toilets were the worst I have ever seen.

I stopped here with my friend last Saturday for a much needed hair of the dog. A good selection of ales was on offer, along with some rather fabulous pink cider which was appreciatively recommended by the guy behind the bar, who I assume, was the landlord. My partner and son met us in there and we all ordered lunch. We chose a selection of dishes from the menu, all of which were delicious along with the various accompaniments of salad, coleslaw and fries. I had the falafels and my friend had the pulled pork in a bun - both of which were superb! My partner had the catch of the day battered fish in a sandwich which was also very good. My son just had some chips, which thankfully lived up to his high standards (look, I made him eat fruit when I got home, I'm not a bad mother, honestly). Really, this was good honest food and at a good honest price, fabulous beer and the lovely couple behind the bar made us feel welcome. The pub had that feeling of being run by someone who actually cares about the pub and it's customers, a feeling which is sadly lacking in so many pubs these days. We shall certainly be back soon!

Went here on few different occasions to eat and for a wedding. I like the food here but it really feels unorganised and hectic. But if you want a nice burger or a roast with bit of patience it's worth it.

Popped in last Saturday early lunchtime and what a lovely pub / atmosphere. Guinness excellent and the Gin / Rum offerings very good indeed. All tables were quickly taken and not surprised with the friendly environment that the hosts and their bubbly staff have created. Thank you.

Great little pub. Friendly staff. You can have coffee/hot chocolate or tea if you do not drink alcohol. There are a range of non alcoholic beers too. The apple pie with ice-cream was great.

The Sussex is one of our favourite pubs to start off a visit to Brighton Lanes. It's perfectly located by the taxi rank and is a great traditional pub. This time we visited both during the day and the evening. We also had a great Sunday roast here and would definitely recommend this. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but it's always friendly nonetheless.

Brilliant for indoor seating in the bad weather with lots of food and drink options to have, with outside seating as well when the weather is good.. A nice collection of things at the bar and on the menu for food and drink, will definitely come back here in another season.

Food was ok, nice little pub in nice location of Brighton and formed part of an activity book, Who smashed Brighton Rock, which was a fantastic way to see Brighton town.

What a find! Wonderful fish goudgons and fish finger sandwich plus lovely chardonnay. Great service in a gorgeous setting.

Friendly bartender. Food took ages (45+) even though the place was mostly empty, including outside. Wasn't worth it for a cold sandwich and a obviously frozen burger. Tesco Chicken & Bacon Sandwich is a lot nicer and cheaper

Pros: Is in the center, nice place, with a terrace… Cons: watch out the step to enter inside, bathrooms are disgustingly smelly/dirty, drinks are really expensive for what they are (Lager 6’35£), no lime, lemon or cucumber whatsoever to add to drinks… Needs to improve with urgency

Quite a lot of food sold out. Ordered food then told chef at lunch. Ordered food again later that day and then told again once at table something not available. No spirit available that I ordered. Unless you go first thing in the morning don’t bother
