Bagels & Coffee in Arun

Incredibly poor customer service, owner was rude and made us feel very unwelcome in the shop. While waiting she was slagging off the previous customer to the other employee. I used to love the bagels here but I will not be returning now.

As the name suggests it sells bagels and coffees (also tea and some soft drinks too). It is really a takeaway but there are 3 or 4 tables where you can eat in. The lady who runs it makes very good bagels and coffee! There is quite a variety of bagels and coffee and teas to choose from. The surroundings are pleasant and the service is fast and good. It would fill up quickly though.

What a find! When last in Arundel, August 2020 just out of first lockdown, we struggled to find a good cafe. Now every other shop seems to be an eatery. This tiny cafe is worth heading for. Right at the bottom end of town as you come in across the, River Arun. First class coffee, amazing Bagels and seating for just 8. Makes my Chichester favourite, Common Grounds seem large (see separate reviews). Swift service, very efficient table cleaning regime, and run by two lovely ladies. As it only seats 8 it is classed as 'Takeaway' rather than a 'Cafe', but worth hovering for a seat, especially in the window. I had Macchiato on both visits, twinned with a New York Bagel stuffed with Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese. One in Onion Bagel, one in Sesame seed. Do try it. Hayling Seagoon

Visited yesterday with my grandson and great grandson! I had a cappuccino and my grandson had a delicious bagel with a generous filling and a drink. My great grandson had a cream cheese bagel and a drink in a carton with a straw. We were made very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We look forward to going back again soon as it’s a great place to visit!

Walked in on Wednesday and thought that it was such a cute place, the lady serving us was amazing! Super friendly and welcoming! Will 100% recommend this place to everyone!! Thank you. Also the ice coffee is amazing !!

When ordering a just a ‘cream cheese’ bagel, you’d think they’d add a little more cream cheese than this- considering bagels are their speciality. So just abit of constrictive criticism there. Other than that I think the concept of the shop itself is nice!

I’m 15 and visit this small shop (most) Sundays for a bagel. Bagel tasted perfect - full of filling and flavour (If you want a suggestion, I recommend the Chicken & Avo!), good value for money and warming customer service. Tanya is lovely and the atmosphere of this small independent business is great.

We were in a very busy Arundel for the farmers market, this morning. We found this lovely little shop to be welcoming to myself, husband and dog. We ordered our food and sat on one of three tables. The shop seemed to run smoothly, when the tables filled up customers seating take away food were asked if they minded waiting outside. No seemed to mind and food arrived quickly. We were served by a young lady who made a friend of our dog. The bagels were delicious as was the coffee and service. We will definitely be back and will recommend to friends.

Visited on the day of the coronation celebrations and the coffee shop was surprisingly quiet. The surprisingly unfriendly abrupt woman serving asked me to wait outside for some reason along with another puzzled person! When I get time I am going to contact the town council as places like this do not do the town any favours

Perhaps the woman behind the counter should remember that if you treat customers politely they will, in all probability, return. As I sat there with my partner listening to her abrasive manner with two ladies and abruptness with others, I thought that perhaps she should stick to making the bagels and let someone else deal with the public!

We were staying in Arundel and wanted to buy a sandwich for lunch and we came across Bagels & Coffee on the High Street. There have about 12 different fillings and you can select one of a variety of bagels I went for chicken, bacon and avocado on onion bagel and my wife chose feta and avocado on an onion bagel. We also went for a couple of their special Croatian cakes After a 5 minute wait to prepare the filled bagels, we left to eat our lunch in one of the quiet public gardens by the river. Our. Bagel’s were delicious as were the nutty chocolate cakes. We would recommend you stop by and get your lunch there too - you won’t be disappointed

Rude member of staff, made us feel unwelcome. Unfriendly to the young girl in front of us too. Bacon really streaky and fatty.

Surly service from owner/manager. Fillings are small and the cakes are dry. I won’t waste my money there again.

Tanya was super friendly and it was so lovely and cosy. She went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and satisfied. The service was amazing plus the very tasty bagel!

If the lady behind the counter spent less time telling everyone how long everything was going to take then it would take less time! The delivery of the news is also really poor. Why make a big deal of telling people there will be a ‘wait’ of 5-6 minutes for a bagel. That’s not a wait but watching this every few seconds was entertaining. So many people walking away for nothing, so much lost business The bagels were nice, coffee average. I won’t be back and unless the passive aggressive performance around being the busiest shop on the planet stops, I suspect others won’t either

Went here today as wanted to try it out, I was alone with my 3 year old and 1 year old who was in a pram and after I ordered was told I wasn’t able to wait inside due to it being a small cafe and was sorry to tell me this as she saw how much I struggled getting inside with the pram, (thanks for offering to help 🥲)the place was empty other than the other 2 staff members it was actually just quite embarrassing so had to wait outside and cause more of a blockage to passers by rather than stand inside for 5 minutes, because of this and the fact the bagel was mediocre I won’t return 😃 Arundel people will be Arundel people.

We popped in for coffee and found we could also have Croatian cakes made authentically. All of the staff are friendly and polite. Although we didn't sample the bagels they looked delicious and heard other customers compliment the owner on their purchases. I highly recommend...

bought 4 bagels last Sunday and again today 4 bagels. Excellent customer service. I had a chat with owner. An extremely nice and friendly lady. She actually recognised me. the quality of food delicious.

Unfortunately the two bagels we ordered were both not what was asked for. One has the wrong filling and the other was the wrong type of bagel. My partner also purchased 2 cakes which were poor. It’s a shame because I feel we just unlucky but I am always honest with my reviews and it wasn’t what we were hoping for.

Myself and my fiancé fancied an impromptu brunch in Arundel, and viewing the lovely menu of bagels out the front we decided to pop into Coffee and Bagels. We both had a sesame New Yorker bagel with pastrami, pickles and mustard which I can only describe as immense. I am usually not a fan of the prepackaged supermarket bagels, however to even describe the bagels at Coffee and Bagels to these would be an injustice. I also indulged in an iced coffee and an indulgence it was. No iced coffee will ever compare to this one. It was closer to a milkshake than a coffee, milky and icy. At around £8 each for a bagel, a drink and a snack it was really good value for money. The staff, unfortunately I did not get their names, have even convinced me to try their chimney cones next I visit.Visit coffee and Bagels next you are in Arundel, you won't be disappointed.

Found after a long dog walk, lovely to sit in and chat with the owner. Great food, great service and well priced. Now a regular hot spot for us after dog walks around Arundel

Recently visited the bagel shop on our first visit to Arundel, the bagels tasted amazing- we had the NY classic and the Old Faithful, the coffee was also top notch! We received great really friendly customer service, will definitely be back!

Popped in at the weekend having been recommended by a friend. Beautiful bagels and the coffee is lovely too. Would definitely recommend the New York Classic (Salmon, cream cheese, capers and Red Onion) 👌👌 Will go back and try one of the other bagels soon!!

Myself and my partner come to get a bagel as a treat almost every week. It’s about a 45 minute trip for us to make but it’s so worth it. The food is fresh and prepared in front of you, the menu is intriguing (and I’m normally fussy!) the service is always good. The bagels are delicious I’ve never not enjoyed one yet!! I normally go for the TEXMEX because I’m not that adventurous, I love the jalapeños and the seedy bagels. My partner has something with avocados and he normally stays quiet whilst he’s eating which I think is a great sign!! Love that they do the meal deal we always take advantage of that! Every time I come I think we should grab a chimney cake, great unique thing to sell!! I will be back! Of course :)

Really love the fantastic Bagels the guys make here, they have great menu choices or they let you choose your own. It's such a lovely change from the usual toastie or a cold sandwich.Fantastic and friendly service, high quality of bagels and fillings, and they actually also make a quite excellent coffee as well. If you're ever in Arundel well worth a look in.

As a chef and a former New Yorker, I have a lot of opinions about bagels and these are pretty damn good! Not exactly what you would get across the pond but when I am in need of a quick bite and a taste of home, these deliver. Great coffee and wonderful service. Very much recommend and hope this little shop succeeds!

we were in arundel today and saw the new bagel and coffee shop we stopped for a quick snatch the coffee was lovely the bagel looked good but the bagel it self was soft and chewy and needed to be toasted longer i feel. good selection of fillings just needs a little more care maybe

Whilst at the Arundel Festival, my wife and I decided to pop into Bagels and Coffee to pick up some lunch. As it was a rather warm day, we decided to steer clear of the hot drinks, and go for the bagels instead. I went for one which was quite similar to New Yorker whereas my wife went for one with feta and avocado (both around the £5 mark). Even though the service was quite slow, the bagels were definitely worth waiting for. They were both absolutely delicious. I would come back here in a heartbeat If I were ever in the area again.

I had read about these "chimney ice creams" previously while looking for things to do with a guest. This was the first time I've actually experienced it!! Very excellent treat. £5 and you get an amazing huge "chimney" come, choice of 3 flavours, also a sauce again choice of 3-4 different fillings. Then chose your delicious ice cream from a wide variety. I can't even describe the cone but it is delios!! Kind of cross between a crepe / French pancake and usual American pancake.The owner is a wonderful character with a good sense of humour. Staff are friendly too.These magic treats should be better publicised so more can flock in and spread the word if their uniqueness.Highly recommend stopping there for a great treat.

My husband and I were visiting Arundel and came across this lovely little cafe. It caught my attention because it served a specific Romanian desert, kurtos, that reminded me of my country. I found out that the people who run the place were Romanian. I was intrigued to see if the desert was as nice as the one I had in Romania and to my very pleasant surprise it was delicious! The bagels looked very good as well and there was a big choice of fillings. The Romanian man who served us (one of the owners) was very good and friendly! I would definitely go back there next time I'm in Arundel!

Visited this wonderful bagel shop today for the first time,it was amazing best bagels we have ever had,I had cream cheese and smoked salmon ,and my son had the roast chicken.I also had the most amazing ice coffee.Really friendly man in the shop,nothing was to much trouble,will definitely be going again.

My partner and I wanted to stop somewhere for lunch, everywhere was busy and whilst walking down the high street we came across this little gem. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful, but more importantly the bagel was to die for!! Honestly I don’t write reviews but felt I had too in this instance as it was that good!! Had the Italian bagel and each mouthful was simply delicious. My partner had a vegan bagel which I reluctantly tried and to my surprise it was equally as great. Look forward to seeing you again keep up the brilliant work

Once every two weeks I drive down to Arundel for work. Every time I am down, without fail, I go here for lunch. I have tried every bagel and they’re all amazing. It’s also worth noting that the service here is great and I always feel welcome here.

Popped in on Saturday, wanted something to eat but didn’t know what I wanted until I looked at the menu. A small but delicious choice. Lots of fillings and the ‘meal deal’ was great! Well done guys, we will be back!

The food was very tasty and enjoyable. We chose to take our food as a take-away as there was unfortunately not much in the line of seating. But for a take-away meal, it was super.

Always wanted to find a place like this close to home, and this didn't disappoint. The name, the style, the decor, the food....and the coffee...spot on! Felt like we were in New York where bagels are so popular. Had a great chat with the owner, very friendly guy. Will definitely be back soon!

2 lovely fresh bagels, made to order for less than £9 is great value and they taste great. Certainly worth a visit for tasty, affordable 'street' food and fast friendly service.

The only words to describe how I am feeling at the moment is 'ripped off'! I have just been charged £5:50 for a small bagel which was meant to have a tuna mayonnaise in it. The filling was as thin as they could possibly make it and it didn't even cover the surround of the bagel. I will certainly not be buying anything from there again.

Made a quick pit stop mid road trip for a bite to eat, and this place was perfect. The bagels were freshly made to order with a generous helping of good quality fillings. Plenty of choice to pick from and great coffees too. Nice to see something different in arundel

There are a plethora of coffee, tea and cake stops in Arundel, some suitable for Nan and Grandad, some for family's with boisterous kids and a few which are probably priced for the passing Russian Oliagarch. If you are 'passing through' and want something fresh, filling and not too hard on the wallet then you MUST try Bagels & Coffee in the High Street. The place is small and very cosy, just a few seats looking across the square. Instantly you can a see a choice of freshly prepared bagels and a 'Tapas' style glass counter displaying incredibly fresh ingredients and accompaniments, pickles, garnishes and salad. There is a very inventive ever changing menu or specials on the wall but building your own fantasy bagel is more fun! The coffee is superb too, best flat white in Arundel. I went for fresh chicken breast, melted cheese, green pickle and tomato, not the most inventive but the point is you can have exactly what you fancy regardless how simple or complicated the combo! The brothers running this little gem are absolutely charming and very attentive and clearly love what they are doing. Wishing them every success and we'll definitely be back with a more challenging bagel combo next time!

Visited at the end of August, when exploring the area. We tried three of the fillings and different bagels. All were absolutely delicious. The deal with a drink and a bagel seemed good. Drinks were good but I would have liked chocolate sprinkles on my cappuccino and did not check before I was a distance from the shop. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again. The chimney cakes also looked very tasty and we may be tempted by these when we return!!

This is now a regular stop off every Friday for myself and a colleague. Having worked our way through the menu time and time again it’s hard to pick a favourite as all of the options are so delicious!

Ordered 3 bagels split between myself and parents and all of us enjoyed them. The 'old classic', 'chickenado' & tuna melt were all great and decent portions. Got a discount on the coffee due to purchasing food and if im ever back will try out their ice cream as looked awesome.

They had a stall outside their shop on Saturday during the festival. We shared a ice cream chimney cone, a cone with a donut taste and look with cinnamon sugar on it. They then line the inside with Nutella and fresh strawberries, then a scoop of vanilla ice cream with salted caramel sauce.

Came here for lunch and it didn’t disappoint! Really yummy bagels and coffee and also had a freshly squeezed juice which tasted great. I had the Italian bagel and can definitely recommend it. Will be back very soon as would like to try the chimney cone :)

A surprise to see a bagel shop in Arundel but a welcome and great addition! Nice little seating area, very accommodating and helpful staff and tasty bagels. Yum! And the staff was totally understanding about coming in wet with a buggy, which we appreciated!

Came here twice in one day! What more can I say! Really very good bagel, I had the Original. Delicious. I also had a couple of portions of their frozen yoghurt, also delicious.

The bagels are great, the juice is great, and their ice creams are an absolute MUST (they use a kind of doughnut type cone, add in fresh strawberries, and the result is out of this world)

I had the Chickenado and my boyfriend had the Breakfast bagel. We ended up sharing both. They were absolutely amazing. The coffee is out of this world. Definitely the best I’ve had in a while. He had a freshly squeezed orange and mango juice that was squeezed on the spot. Definitely recommend!!!

The Bagel and Coffee shop is really quite an experience. My smoked salmon bagels are never boring here - they are full of taste and variety with different fillers and types of bagels. The staff are so friendly and quick to assemble your tailor-made bagel or chimney cake of choice. Arundel is traditionally known for tea shops and coffee shops - as well as boutiques and antiques shops. But as more and more international types move to or visit Arundel - so the cafes have changed. Bagels and Coffee certainly fits into this changing trend - the food is poised somewhere between Eastern Europe and New York in its range of flavours. And the kids and adults just love it here.

We just had a chimney Cone and WOW!!! Lovely staff, helpful, chatty and friendly. Absolutely delicious!!! We shared 1 as a family of 3 but to be honest I ate most of it as it was too delicious to share!! We will be going back again and again!!

Just had my first Chimney Cake in this charming shop in Arundel. The service was warm and friendly and very obliging and the warm freshly made Chimney Cake was amazing. I highly recommend you try for yourselves you are in for a treat!

Visited my best buddy for the weekend in Arundel and fell on this simple but spectacular new bagel cafe. We both went for tuna melt with an everything fresh bagel, delicious. The coffee was great too I had almond milk cappuncino which went down well. They also do chimney cake which we tried a sample of and will be back for a full cake ASAP. Staff friendly and very helpful a real little Arundel gem. Forgot to take my usual photo of food as wanted to eat it all up! Looking forward to seeing you again

Delicious coffee and friendly family service at this new little coffee shop in Arundel. The highlight is the traditional Transylvanian chimney cake! Freshly cooked to order and dusted with sugar or cinnamon or walnuts - hot and delicious. Highly recommended! Lovely!
