great bagels and a wide range of choices for fillings. the gluten free bagels are lovely too, and all orders for coeliacs are prepared in a separate area to avoid cross contamination. however, prices are a little expensive.

Best bagels in town, I always go for the lox deluxe. Really good value for money too! Can't get enough

We loved these bagels so much that we came back 3 times during our trip to Hove. Lovely service and the best home made bagels. Great for an on the go breakfast and so filling.

I've been a regular visitor to the Bagelman shops in Brighton and Hove for over 20 years. I often buy lunch and also unfilled bagels for our breadbin at home. I love these bagels! The last two visits to the Hove store have been disappointing. First time, I went in mid Friday morning to buy some unfilled bagels to take home. Not usually a problem before the lunch time rush. This day there were hardly any on display but the kindly staff were able to find me some to buy, plain only, in a drawer behind the counter. I usually buy sesame or poppy but happy to take plain occasionally if they are not available. Second visit was a couple of weeks later on Saturday about midday. Again very few bagels on display but as we wanted to eat in we were able to have our lunch, but again the handful of available bagels were plain only. There were very few walk in customers while we were there but the remaining bagels quickly ran out and most went away without a bagelman lunch.

My girlfriend and I always order from here (probably too much) as well as pop in if we're passing by. So I thought it was about time I left them a review. Bagelman makes the best bagels in Brighton, and the one in Hove makes the best bagels of all the Bagelmans. The bagels are always generously filled with fresh ingredients. The manager of the Hove store is the friendliest dude and always gives the best customer service. Basically, if you're looking for somewhere to go for lunch, I couldn't recommend it more.

Nipped here as we were staying nearby and were not disappointed. Bagels were amazing and staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend! Also apparently they do deliveroo so less walking 👍

We always love a bagelman and order on delivery regularly! Today we came in and Dan who served us went the extra mile to make sure we were happy! He was friendly and enthusiastic and set us off in a good mood for the rest of the day! Thank you! The bagels were superb!

Quirky cafe, great atmosphere. A superb selection of bagels and fillings starting from £3.99. I had an ATM, avocado, tomato and mozzarella on a jalapeño bagel. It was really tasty.

Sometimes I eat here on my lunch break from work. It is a bit pricey but again it’s the only shop that offers what they do. Vegan options are really rich and nutritious and 1 bagel keeps me going all day. Friendly staff. Option to order and delivery online. You can order over the phone for collection but you can’t pay over the phone. Shop is big and I’ve never seen it full. Looks clean. Recommended.

I’ve lived in Brighton all my life and frequently visit the Bagelman in the lanes and on Duke Street. The bagels are always delicious and the staff have always been super friendly. However, my first experience of the shop in Hove was disappointing to say the least. I frequently use the TooGoodToGo app to help reduce waste from cafes and enjoy tasty treats at a greatly reduced cost. I purchased a ticket for the Hove Bagelman on a whim as we were walking back through town one Saturday afternoon and popped in to pick it up. The staff were unbelievably rude when we arrived. They ignored us until we asked if we could collect the order, at which point they barely stopped their conversation to say there was nothing left, despite the fact that I could visibly see fresh veg and bagels behind the counter. When I asked if we could use the credit towards a full priced bagel, they said they were closed for business. When I asked what I should do as I had already paid, they shrugged and told me to contact the app for a refund. When I asked if they could show me how, they turned away and continued their conversation, as a suggestion for us to leave. The whole experience made me feel as if the staff didn’t care for reducing waste or good customer service. I would not go back, if you want good service and good food, try the Duke Street or Bond Street Bagelman, much better people!

It is a minimalist place in which at the centre of the experience is the food. The bagel with salt beef is a must (if you are not vegetarian).

Food was ok. I wouldn’t say it was anything special, not good value for money. I was expecting more filling for a £6 bagel! It was tiny! I expect to pay a bit more in Hove but not for something average. Service wasn’t good, there were 4 members of staff yet I was waiting for a long time. I won’t be returning, sorry!

Excellent bagels, always very tasty. A very friendly place to be looked after as well. I have popped in over the years for a bagel and it's always been consistently good.

Had a great Bagel here - the hot salt beef bagel was fantastic. The Tuna one was not as good - a little bland and chewy.

I used to love Bagelman but didn't go there for years as I had to go gluten free. So imagine my delight when I discovered they now offer gluten free bagels, as well as plenty of veggie and vegan options too. Plus they have a pay-it-forward scheme for those less able to afford their coffee and bagels, they turn their leftover bagels into craft beer AND they now have an app for their loyalty scheme to save paper. What's not to love?!

Quick and efficient, with happy staff. Sit in or outside and enjoy a bagel of your choice. Well worth a visit if you are nearby.

I have fallen in love with the Bagels from Bagelman, I can not believe how much nicer they are than the usual supermarket bought ones, I have only bought them to make my own, but the choices of different Bagel flavours and fillings in the shop I would not hesitate to buy a pre filled Bagel.

The food was ok but I noticed that the staff member serving me didnt wash there hands between taking the money and making the bagel! Which I found very hard to not comment at the time

It is what it is, a bagel bar, so, you basically order the bagle you like with the filling you choose, they also have their own specials which are pretty good.

Wow an amazing selection of bagels and fillings .. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Can be slow at peak times when only 1 staff in .

We had lunch at the Bagelman. It is part of a small chain. Excellent fresh bagels. Great range of fillings. Also very good coffee. Definitely a good option if you are looking for lunch or a snack and in Hove there is lots of completion. Very friendly and helpful staff and efficient and prompt service. We had the Valentines special and it was excellent.

Just popped in for a lunch time bagel takeout.. Chose a BLT poppyseed bagel with nice crispy bacon , it was delicious was the best one I've tasted for years .

I popped in as passing for work today, I haven't been to bagelman for years.I opted for the breakfast deal and got a bacon filled chilli bagel accompanied by a double espresso of small batch coffee.Presently surprised as the coffee was superb (strong and great flavour with a reasonable crema) the chilli bagel was sublime. A great level of heat to compliment the crispy bacon! Very impressed and so much better than any other offerings on the road. I'll be back!Highly recommend this if you are in the area and need a quick fix!

We were looking forward to our visit, but the menu has changed and what I wanted was not on the menu anymore and there was no salt beef. Sorry, but we went elsewhere and probably won't return. So disappointed.

I went again last weekend and the bagels are amazing as usual. There's not much more I can say - I've been getting these bagels for years and they're still as good now as they've always been.I recommend buying a pack of bagels to take home to freeze and you can have fresh bagels for as long as your freezer can hold them.

Have been getting take away Bagels from here for quite a while now.Usually pretty good.Gets busy at lunch times.Some of the staff can be a bit surly.

Bagels are a bit... 2005? Don't have anything particularly positive to say about the turkey bagel I got (plastic meat and bland coleslaw in a bagel) or the rather u generous salt beef offering my other half went for. Meh. Also, too expensive and very unenthusiastic service.

Firstly I didn't expect you to be open (it was Sunday) but I'm so glad you were as I unexpectedly went into work today and forgot to take any lunch with me (which worked out well in the end). I've been a customer of Bagelman for years and have never had an issue. The young lady that served me today (think her name was Evie, glasses and long brown hair) was really friendly and made me the perfect bagel which I demolished when I got back to the office (should have ordered 2). Thanks guys!

I would like to praise the staff in this establishment for the amazing customer service. Especially the young lady with the tattoo's. Yes I understand that in a work setting tattoo's should be covered, but I do also think that tattoo's do not affect your manners. The service that I received today was pleasant, friendly and fast. To which my bagel was warm and very tasty. I would recommend this establishment, and I, for one, will be returning here for my bagel. Thank you lovely lady

I have been a big fan of bagel man for many years and frequented the one in the north laines often. I recently moved to Hove and go to the one on church road at least once a week for lunch. At first I thought that they were always busy and that's why the staff always struggle with service. For example.. It takes on average 10mins to receive a toasted bagel.. Even if you are the only customer in the shop. The tables are always very dirty and so is the floor.... But nothing is more dirty that the look the staff give you that's if they can even be bothered to make eye contact at all. The staff are very rude.. I asked for my 2 bagels.. Pretty standard from the menu.. And the stupid, arrogant 20 something year old girl asked me 3 times what i had ordered, when she asked me if I wanted them cut in half.. I said very politely 'pardon me' as I did not hear her mumble into the sandwich.. She then snapped at me the same question to the point that most of he shop turned to look at her... None of the staff corrected her poor customer service which was Also concerning. I got the impression the staff either hate each other or do far to many drugs together. I asked her for a bag as I ordered a take away.. She huffed in my face (it was the second time in the whole experience that she made eye contact) and dragged her feet over to get a bag and took a further 5mins to bag the food!It's like they are doing you a favour. I wouldn't mind but even my £5 bagel was very thin for a BLT with cheese... The food was not prepared into portions and staff are preparing as they go so it means you get half as much for your £5er. This place is in serious need of an effective manager.. In fact, just fire everyone and start again.. Save Bagel man!!

Quick and easy service, great choice.. Recommended especially is their Matso soup with chicken noodle.... Big choice if fillings.. Salt beef or lox being firm favourites.. Latka's are fabulous!

Can't fault Bagelman and the Hove shop is my local. Great freshly made and tasty bagels with loads of combinations. Haven't had it myself but friends rave about the salt beef too. Cheap and cheerful lunch venue.

I often go here for lunch but won't be going again. This morning I ordered a veggie bagel which was delicious but when I made an enquiry about the breakfast bagels I received a very rude look and eye roll from the server, who later thrust the bagel at me without even saying a word of thanks. It's one thing to be having a bad day, another to take it out on customers. With the extremely poor customer service, I will be avoiding this place from now on.

Always worth stopping for a bagel here. It feels really authentic and the staff always attentive and quick with orders. My favourite is the salmon and cream cheese!!

I brought my boyfriend here to try it for the first time. After I raved about it. I was going to have the hot salt beef bagel but I didn't see it on show and they looked rather busy so I didn't ask about it instead has my second fav of chicken bacon and avocado with Swiss cheese on onion!!! So good. I think they have changed the bacon or something recently but it just seems better than ever!! And to me it feels like they are putting more filling in! My boyfriend couldn't finish his!!! I didn't have breakfast beforehand though as I'd been saving myself. And it was still as delicious as always!!

I've not visited Bagelman in a while, but have done twice over the past two weeks. The bagels are still lovely, and the fillings interesting but you don't get a lot any more. The "Turkey Slaw" had the thinnest layer of cream cheese - i mean the girl really had a good go at scrapping at it, 3 very thin slices of turkey and a small dollop of coleslaw. I'm sure the turkey is thinner than it used to be. Come on Bagelman - at these prices more filling needed..

Stumbled upon this lovely shop in Hove. The choices were amazing and the food was freshly prepared and the staff were very helpful. What a nice place to get a take away lunch. You can even have a toasted peanut butter bagel which I had for breakfast. The Reuben bagel is great too. Big fan , keep up the good work.

I love bagels, its a healthy and quick lunch break meal, Usually order the cream cheese, with a packet of crisps, its reasonably priced and made fresh!

This is the place we always visited when on a trip to Hove. This time we were extremely disappointed. We were told that they no longer did the item we wanted from the menu - it wasn't even crossed out or a piece of paper put over the overhead board. I ordered a salt beef sandwich on rye which would have been great if the bread wasn't stale. Couldn't be bothered to complain - we just won't go back there again. Very disappointed - it used to be so good but there are plenty of other places to eat in Hove.

Delicious - that's all I have to say! Always look forward to getting my lunch from here if I'm local to one.

Great choice, price, taste and friendly staff.Everything was perfect apart from seeing the staff use the same bread knife to repeatedly slice cooked bagels in half (veggie, cooked meat and cold meats) which is worryingly poor food hygiene.

I have been eating at bagelman for years. It is no-frills with good food and is reasonably priced.There isn't really anything else quite like it in Brighton & Hove - it is honest and lacks the pretence that so many other 'cafes' in the area wheel out each lunchtime.The bagels are excellent. The saltbeef and bagel melts are particularly good. They also serve falafel in a wrap if you want something less stodgey.I only have two issues with Bagelman:1. The servers don't always have their hair tied back and I have, in another branch of Bagelman, found several hairs in my food. I really think long hair should be tied back as standard.2. The tables are very rarely cleaned between uses which means you have to clean them yourself if you want to eat without somebody else's crumbs and discarded serviettes in front of you.Apart from that the hygiene is very good, with staff washing their hands frequently which is always reassuring.Definitely worth a visit.

Clean but simple restaurant with scrummy bagels from menu or as requested. Can get very crowded at lunchtimes as food is so good. Friendly service.

I always get my lunch from here and it never fails, even when i have some weird combination requests! The Aussie guy in the Hove branch is just a delight and now if you hold a valid bus ticket you get 20% thats a big deal!They can only grow stronger, fantastic!

If I had written this a year ago I would have given them 5 stars and said they were my favourite place to eat. I used to go in multiple times a week for the breakfast bagels as they were the best ever. Don't get me wrong they are still good, but it has definitely gone downhill.For a start the bagels have reduced dramtically in size, yet the prices have gone up! It always annoys me when this happens and retailers think the customers won't notice.I always had the bacon, omelette and hash browns. The last time I went in there they no longer deep fried the hash browns but warmed them in an oven. I'm sure this is probably healthier but all it did was make them soggy and completely tasteless.The last 3 times I have been in I have asked for butter on my bagel and each time they have forgotten and had to be reminded.In summary, they are ok but no longer great I am sad to say.

Our friend took us here to grab bagels to take to the beach. There were lots of choices and you can craft your own bagel. Only critisism is that the bagels are expensive - to fill us up for lunch we had to buy filled bagels - BLT etc and these were on the upwards of £3.50!

I went in late Nov 13, as a lunch date with my Daughter. The food is good and the menu choice is good if you like bagels.My problem with it is that they touch all the ingredients by hand, and the guy serving me felt that he had to touch the bagel at least 50 times. All this with out wearing gloves.A simple thing that would make this sandwich shop a cut above the rest.

Second visit (today 16.08.2013) within a few months.The last visit I found that the general standard of cleanliness in the restaurant was not good. I complained about the condition of the table having food and drink spillage on it as I sat down to eat. The waitress cleaned the table with a cloth a few minutes later although she did not use any separate cleaning product.On my visit today, I sat down at a table after ordering my food and noticed that one of the chairs and the floor beneath had liquid on it . It appeared as a spillage of coke or similar. I immediately brought this to the attention of a staff member, however this was not cleaned up whilst we were there which was at least 20 minutes.Although the food counter appeared ok, I am appalled by the general standard of cleanliness in the restaurant area. It would appear that the staff are lazy and simply not bothered about maintaining a good standard of cleanliness around the tables and seating.All spillages should be cleaned up immediately and restaurant areas should be checked by staff regularly.Have been there several times in the past and not noticed a problem, however when you witness this as I have now on two recent occasions, you question the whole standard of the establishment.Environmental health have been advised.

ATM is amazing, toasted on a jalepeno bagel. All of them are amazing, ive tried alot of them! Thy always have great specials on the board too. Good service. Can be really really busy some times but give it a go even if there is a huge queue.

Had my guzillionth Bagelman Bagel from the Hove branch (though all branches are equally good) on Sunday. Service with a smile, fantastic choice, good value, yummy food, etc., etc. There's sometimes quite a queue at busy times, but it's worth the wait.

Proper bagels likeyou get in he States, but with added interest like a jalapeno bagel. With melted cheddar. Bagels start at 59p so brilliant value too.

Very tasty bagels and it's obvious the ingredients they use are good quality. Normally stick to chicken bagels but the hot salt beef is very nice to especially on a cold winters day. Food and drink is reasonably priced. Wouldn't say the staff are over friendly but are normally busy.
