If you're looking for great Indian food in Guildford, this place is an option. A pub/restaurant with a homely charm that makes you feel like you're in a bygone age with a range of drinks as well as pool/darts tables. I ordered the chicken naga with pilau rice and garlic naan. I was warned that it would be spicy but it turned out to have a moderate heat to it that made it pleasant to eat. Although it did take a while to arrive which was the only let down. But the service from the staff more than made up for it. They also show live sport and have a fireplace. Will definitely be visiting again if I return to Guildford.

This is our favourite place to go for a curry. Super food and excellent value. They also have good beer and the staff are really welcoming. They do a quiz on the first Thursday of the month which is different from your usual pub quiz but in a good way. Always good to go to a traditional pub. There are too many gastro pubs around these days.

Everything was going alright at this pub, food was nice, pleasant atmosphere until having finished our meal and drinks we sat for about 15 mins letting our food go down. The Landlady (I think) then comes to us and asked are you having more drinks? we reply no so she says well can you leave your table and go sit/stand at the bar (there were no seats left at bar so standing only!!). First time we had ever been to this pub and so shocked we walked out, telling her on the way we were not happy. Their website says 'a warm and inviting pub' but it's was a case of eat up and get out!! Very disappointing and ruined our night out...thanks :(

Your typical English pub, with a beer garden, a good billiards table, and a dart board. 4* because they could increase the draught beer range, as well as get some new darts. But overall, a good experience.

The Astolat used to be my local but to be honest I rarely went there. A friend suggested going to the launch of their new quiz and it was very good. Quite a small number of people but the questions were well pitched and the quiz didn’t drag on as some do. It’s the first Thursday of every month so you’ll see me down there again

In a world of pubs, this is *the* pub to come to. Be here. But ideally not when I’m here. I want my seat back

Beautiful building and a great choice of food and range of coffees. Also dog friendly which is what swung it for us. Upstairs is very cosy with a choice of comfy sofas or tables and chairs. Sadly, the

A lot of the stuff here is amateur but actually quite good. It's still reasonably pricey considering the performers etc aren't paid - I can only assume the overheads aren't cheap. Nice little bar too

So I’ve visited many many times on Mtb rides and had tea, coffee, cakes, sausage rolls and cheese straws, but this weekend’s cheese straw was *off the charts* good. I’ve always liked them and they’re
