A perfect evening celebrating an 80th birthday with family. All was excellent from the moment we arrived. Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout the evening and with 11 at table, service was immaculate. The food was delicious, flavours exquisite and all so beautifully presented. No LONGER a first class lunch at Kinghams. Great service in idyllic surroundings. Hey Jack I shall NOT be making further visits with business colleagues and friends. UPDATE 12 AUGUST 2022. SADLY WE NO LONGER VISIT THIS WONDERFUL RESTAURANT Reason... I would always go for the Steak on the menu but it is not to be found on the menu anymore. My partner suffers a fish allergy so that rules out much for her. My friends say let's go to Kinghams for lunch and we have to say NO. I Used to love lunch there with friends but it's not my sort of dining anymore such a shame that an English Restaurant does not offer a decent steak anymore. And I'm NOT going Veggie. But good luck to you all for some great memories. Sadly the response from the management did not answer my question so have down graded my score.

Great food. Fantastic service from an efficient and friendly team. Atmosphere was like a library though and the menu felt like it was stuck in 1990. It was all perfectly and beautifully prepared and tasted absolutely first rate, but there was a feeling that this was the same menu that was being served there when it opened 35 years ago.

Wow. We did not expect this level of quality. We had four different courses each (so tried 8 in total) and all were delicious. Particularly recommend the duck liver parfait and the alaska for dessert. Also really well priced. The service was excellent, the place cozy and picturesque, and we had a fantastic time. Really recommend to anyone in the area!

We love it here! Food and service are both great and it is handily located halfway between us and our friends for a leisurely lunch. What a lovely restaurant, The team were excellent, efficient, friendly and so polite. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was so welcoming and friendly. We booked for vegan food, four tasty course and weren't disappointed. Tasty freshly cooked vegan food and no fake produced products. The main course and rice pudding were exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We particularly liked the umbrella fountain at the front of the premises. Unfortunately we forgot to take photos.

It’s difficult to know exactly where to start with this exceptional old English 17th Century restaurant with the Kitchen run by a decorated Chef of Moroccan origins, affectionately nicknamed as “Moz”. His CV is amazing including Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, The Mirabelle, Sonny’s and The Langham Hotel. It’s nested into some beautifully picturesque Surrey countryside in Shere. Given its well deserved fine dining reputation, combined with not having an excessive number tables available it’s important to book ahead. In the summer months there is more availability as there are tables outside for Al Fresco dining. For those worried about parking there is a carpark which has a reasonable amount of space and when we went at 8 pm, on a weekend, we were able to get parked. When we entered Kingham’s we were greeted in very friendly manner and taken to our table immediately. We had a very good Waitress who was attentive and helped us through ordering proffering some suggestions. By this time we were aware that the general ambience was very positive with a really buzzy atmosphere. The menu choice was wide and varied, some might say limited in choice but that wasn’t our impression or experience as their menu has been designed as 4 lighter course allowing you to enjoy more flavours to enhance your dining experience. Each course (of 4) had four choices within each course, as follows; To Begin (Starter) The In-Between (Second starter/mini Main) To Follow (Main course) and … To Finish (Dessert) Some Reviews go through the menu in some detail but suffice to say that everything not only looked absolutely amazing but the flavours virtually exploded in your mouth. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are genuinely hard to identify. But before your Food was brought out they gave us a Freshly baked, warm and rustic boule with flavoursome butter which just added more to the dining experience. For Wine we had a bottle of their Adobe Reserva Merlot which was very smooth but their Wine list is absolutely amazing. It has some great partnership deals with local distillers, including the infamous Silent Pool and Albury Vineyards. This meal was a special occasion for My Wife plus we wanted somewhere extra special as our Son and daughter in law were joining us. But the quality of the food, service, décor, surroundings and overall ambience made for a perfect fine dining experience. We left the Restaurant feeling royally looked after so full marks. We cannot recommend Kinghams highly enough.

Lovely location in a quaint village in the Surrey Hills - beautiful drive from South London. Lovely and cosy inside with good food and service A few things could be improved - Table not ready when we arrived! I had the cold soup (made with milk I believe) It was wonderful on a hot evening but only 2 scallops on the other starter and the duck parfait did not go with the brioche bun. Mains - Great Beef Wellington but the duck was skimpy (only one slice) and the crispy duck leg in pastry was overcooked and hard. Deserts were great So just short of a 5* review

Came during a torrential downpour that flooded part of the premises. The evening was thus slightly slower on the kitchen side of things which was understandable. Heck, if a Masterchef challenge was "Can you still cook to the required standard after you deal with a flood," at least we know it's doable! There are certainly aspects that hold this establishment back from michelin-star territory, but the friendly service isn't one of them. Even after having to muck in and deal with the flooding, it was still warm, friendly and helpful. The mark deducted for atmosphere was just that- it is a tad stuffy/warm in the main dining area that made it uncomfortable to the point we asked to move to the converted area just outside (which wasn't an issue at all) Judged against the midweek treat prices, it's pretty good value for this type of dining. That said, I'm not sure I would come back for the full price menu- reference made to the lamb which, although delicious and faultless, as nevertheless just a single sausages worth of meat. We will be back - hopefully with better weather!

The best meal I have had for a long long time. Four courses beautifully presented with exquisite tastes, quite small portions but very rich so absolutely enough. Very nice staff with pleasant surroundings. Quite a small menu but I prefer it that way rather than having many options and not doing them to this standard. This was our first visit to Kinghams Restaurant. We came to lunch mid-week in order to celebrate our daughter's milestone birthday. The restaurant was very quiet as no other guests were in the dining-room throughout our meal. Warm welcome, but sadly no mention of the birthday in the initial greeting. The food was excellent and well-presented. I can recommend the mackerel starter and panna cotta dessert. Portion-size was just right for me. Service was attentive and efficient. Finally, with our daughter's baked Alaska dessert, a Happy Birthday message written in chocolate and a candle on top appeared. A nice touch.

Absolutely exceptional food and service in a beautiful, cosy and relaxing setting. Came here for my mother-in-law’s 75th birthday (and who had her wedding reception on the then-different restaurant in 1980 and who’s loved it since). Each course was mouth-wateringly flavoursome and done to perfection in taste and presentation. The waiting staff were so kind and attentive. My wife and I have been to Kingham's several times previously. On this visit we were with our son and partner, their first visit. We all thought the experience was excellent. They liked particularly the four smaller courses, and thought the choice was outstanding. Service was excellent, never obtrusive. One thing we always like about Kingham's is the soft furnishings: curtains, carpets, tablecloths etc, and lack of openness, all of which creates a nice harmonious dining atmosphere.

6 of us. This restaurant is family run. It's quaint inside with beautiful decor. But what sets this restaurant aside. The food!! It's truly amazing. One guest said he always chooses something he wouldn't normally cook himself at home. I suggest no one can get the taste and balance right on their dishes, as well as the chef here. There is a 4 course menu. We can choose as little or as much as you would like. Dont be fooled by the portion size being small. These plates ounch a taste like no other. I am known to be a fussy eater. I found no faukt with the dishes. In fact, not one of our group had anything bad to say. I will most definitely go back there. Highly recommend. Wonderful experience. Found the venue on a review site. Booked a table, must admit it was 75 minutes drive away, but oh so worth it! Small bread "loaf" cut into four for us. Crumbly and delicious. We deliberately chose different dishes for each of the four courses to try as many dishes as possible. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are hard to identify, though I never thought I would have a liver parfait as good as Hestons, I was wrong. Special mention for the mock cocktails but my goodness the roast potatoes were quite exceptional too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very clean toilet. Met chef at the end of the meal, what a delightful passionate chef. Well worth the trip for some frankly quite exceptional food.

Been to Kinghams many times and always been happy with the experience. Tonight was a special occasion :- our wedding anniversary. We had notified them in advance including my wife calling at lunchtime to confirm it was a special occasion. We had previously received an email offering complimentary glasses of "bubbly" but when we got there they even asked my wife to present the email to them. This was how the service went all night - very cold. Needless to say the bubbly was prosecco. The meal proportions were very small even for fine dining. I complained about the size of my starter (2 tiny fish pieces each about an inch square and equal size artichoke/dressing). A caring restaurant would have offered some more but all I got was "this is to be expected in a 4 course meal". Maybe but not at £10. We won't be returning.

One must start by saying what a beautiful 'oldy worldy' place this is. Deep in the heart of Surrey, what a tranquil village. There was no trouble with parking. I was with friends celebrating their 50th birthdays (three years ago, due to Covid!). The staff even went to the trouble of bringing out a chocolate piped place with a candle - such a lovely thought. Each course had been well thought out. Despite the portions being very small, one left feeling very full and satisfied. I was even served scallops without the truffle butter, thank goodness! I can recommend the elderflower mocktail (due to driving)! I never choose an apple dessert, but this one was purely delicious with the calvados sauce. There was nothing I could fault, from the staff to the food. The pace of service was spot on with enough time to digest before the next course. Thank you for a really lovely evening and can't wait to return. We all enjoyed our evening very much. I can thoroughly recommend.

Based on reviews we had high hopes for our evening meal but were left disappointed. I struggled to find something to choose but settled on the risotto and cod. None of us could find a pudding that we fancied which was a let down. It wasn't a special occasion but, if it had been, our table next to the noisy bar fridge wasn't ideal. The chef obviously goes to a lot of trouble to invent the dishes but unfortunately the risotto was too rich, the cod was tasteless and we didn't even like the side dishes of potatoes and broccoli.

A very special day thanks to all at Kingsham team you rock. A little something about our experience. In a quaint little place called Shere, Where laughter and friendship are near, Tasha and Natalie, side by side, Embarking on a lunchtime ride. In the kingdom of Kingsham they reside, Amidst the beauty they cannot hide, Fine dining delights, a feast so grand, Served on plates with an expert hand. Beneath the sun's warm and gentle gaze, They're seated outside in a cozy haze, Within a lovely hut, a haven of peace, Their worries and stresses find their release. With glasses raised, filled with bubbles divine, Toasting to friendship, a bond so fine, Celebrating twenty-five years of kinship strong, Through ups and downs, they've carried on. No longer chained by the burden of work, They seize the day, refusing to shirk, "Ladies that do lunch," they proudly proclaim, Embracing the joy of life, staking their claim. For today, the world can wait, As they relish each moment, tempting fate, Amidst the clinking of glasses and laughter's sound, Their spirits soar, hearts unbound. Their stories intertwine, memories shared, Tales of triumph and moments they dared, In this respite from the world's demands, They find solace, holding each other's hands. Oh, Tasha and Natalie, your friendship pure, A bond that time cannot obscure, May your days be filled with love and delight, As you continue this lifelong, cherished flight. So, raise your glasses high, my dear friends, For this lunchtime journey never ends, In Shere's embrace, let your spirits dance, A testament to the power of friendship's chance.

A varied and well thought out menu gives you lots of choice. Wine is fairly priced, unlike the plethora of fine dining restaurants who gouge their customer's wallets. I do understand quality over quantity and the quality was amazing, however there was two tiny pieces which wasn’t enough for me. It left you wanting for more but for hunger rather than for experience. There’s a fine line between food experience and leaving hungry. Staff and service amazing, huge drinks menu. All in all a really fantastic night. Well worth a visit, the prices were representative of the portion sizes but I would have preferred to have paid more and got a little more.

A glorious little restaurant. Small but perfectly formed. A great selection of covered areas outside to allow us to enjoy the summer weather without being fried. The food was wonderful, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Staff were incredibly friendly. I will definitely be back.

Excellent service Star of the show by far was the delicious Blood orange Bakewell tart with Tonka ice cream. Octopus starter was good but only 3 small pieces, 5 would have been better. Surrey hills filet beef, best part was the marmite emulsion croquette.

We were lucky to dine at Kinghams for their 30th anniversary celebrations and enjoy their special 6 course menu. The food was fantastic, absolutely delicious. We also had the paired wines, servied by the very knowledgeable sommelier. The chefs came out to talk to customers...

High end restaurant serving delicious food. My only criticism was that they had an outside area joined to the main restaurant which let a flow of very cold air in at a floor level. Freezing feet!

It was okay. Staff were friendly and it had a pleasant atmosphere but a bit overpriced for what was on offer. Not really a lot of choices on the menu either as it was cuisine style so not what I would usually choose to eat personally. Still it could have been a lot worse so I'm not complaining.

Lovely sunday lunch at the Stag on the River. We had the vegan roast and also the pork roast which were both very nice, albeit a little overpriced for what you get. Parking is also limited so get there early or park round the corner over the Eashing bridge. The staff were friendly and helpful and we requested extra spuds and yorkies which we were provided complimentary with the meal. Would definitely come back for dinner another day. Thank you.

We hired Tudor Antiques for my 40th. Very centrally located in Guildford, it's a superb venue for private hire. A unique and quirky venue with lovely staff. Thank you Sarah & Team.

Cafe with quite a large garden area (partially covered - they have a heated yurt!) which is well done up and nice to sit in. Good selection of cakes and drinks with table service. A bit pricey though!
