Really good fun. Cocktails nice. We sat in the back room but the light was so bright and blinding we couldn't see a thing. Plus being sat in the corner right under the speaker it was so loud . There was no way of turning it down so we asked and it remained as loud. Such a shame as I think the main bar looked far nicer and the back room didn't have the same atmosphere. Will definitely be back but think we will book a table in the main bar next time

**edit** Pic just to confirm the email was sent to the address on the website and the date was this last weekend so don’t think it was a mistake on my part. Despite emailing and receiving an email back with the code, we were turned away due to a private event. Sadly it wasn’t very graciously handled either as the manager wouldn’t take our word for it that we’d had an email and asked to see it, leaving us feeling as if we had to prove ourselves. He said we could come back next week but that’s not very helpful when you come from a long way away and are only in Guildford for one night. Think they need to look at their processes to avoid disappointing customers in future!

As a Guildfordian I remember the thrill of queuing on the narrow staircase of this wobbly old building when it was The Tudor Rose , desperately hoping that when the next table became available it would be the window seat where I could woof down their seriously gooey macaroni cheese with my mum.Well happy to say that I can add new happy memories to this building as the Tudor Antiques have created a quirky venue that delivers......good waiter , fun decor and fabulous cocktails....our little group all loved it here , somehow the vibe is just right . Anyone thats been to Reykjavik will be reminded of the tea rooms there which are superb. Can't wait to go back. Just hope they give us the new code!

We really enjoyed our evening Dec 7th . We arrived about 8pm , it opens at 7.30 I believe and was still very quiet. . As it’s quite a small bar , if you want a quiet drink arrive on opening as it does get quite crowded about 9/9.30.Cocktails were lovely , normal pricing . they’ll make all the classic cocktails on top of the menu if your favourite can’t be seen : staff are very friendly . The decor is pretty cool . The toilets are up very narrow wonky stairs . So if you’re not steady on your feet / slightly older , I advise against it . We will be back

I have walked up the main shopping road in Guildford many times, had no idea this place was up a narrow alley. My daughter and son in law took us here and was surprised when we stopped at a locked door in an alleyway. You have to enter a code to get in, I believe this is emailed to you. Up the narrow, steep staircase is a lovely bar. The building itself is interesting, I am guessing one of the original buildings of Guildford. Cocktails were served in large teapots! There was a selection of beers, sadly owning to delivery problems, not all were available. The staff were friendly and helpful, asking if we were cold with the window open..wouldn’t get that in most bars. I could have stayed here longer but we had to get to a restaurant. Word of warning..don’t drink too much and need the loo. They are up steep and wonky stairs, bad enough sober let alone tiddly.

Lovely little cosy place with good service. You'll need a code to get in which you'll get by either ringing them, Facebook messenger them or emailing them. The cocktails are good and reasonably priced, but I only have 3 stars as on 5 different orders throughout the night they had run out of stock (coffee machine wasn't working, ran out of port, ran out of Malbec, certain beers etc). Once or twice is fine, but just was a slightly poor show on the stock levels. Would go back and try again as to ensure I'm not being too harsh.

It is a little cramped in there and the tables and chairs are a little too close together. That being said, you never really need to get up as it is table service. The staff there are very attentive and professional. The cocktails were great, it's safe to say, we sampled a few. We tried one of the sharing teapots which was delicious and seemed never ending. We really enjoyed our evening here and will definitely be returning again.

I visited here for a friends party this week. I'd seen it years ago as old tea room but was surprised to find a 1920s themed bar with nooks and crannys all over the place. You book on Facebook and get an access code and then it's a normal bar. Cocktails are on the pricey side (£9) so would be more of a special event than a regular night out but good for a change.

We had a couple of teapots between us and both cocktails tasted good. The teapots aren't cheap but they are actually pretty good value when you see how much is in them. This place is fab! Kitted out with all sorts of quirky antiques, beaded curtains and random memorabilia, it feels like a true speakeasy. Even the staff are dressed for the part and are very hospitable and friendly.Feels very exclusive yet the price of drinks is really reasonable, especially for Guildford. The only reason I have awarded it four stars is it's very difficult to get in in the first place (which is also a positive to some extent as it keeps all the drunken idiots out on a Saturday night). You have to get a door code from staff, which changes every hour, to get in.If you know you're going, just make sure you message in advance to get the door code otherwise you will be left disappointed.I do understand though that it's the exclusivity that gives it its charm - a far cry from the packed, seedy Fahrenheit 55 bar next door.

We used to eat here regularly when it was the Tudor Rose. Have tried it twice since it's refurbishment. Whilst I cannot fault the food, which was great, the service and decor were abysmal. Whoever thought to put that enormous L shaped barwith florescent lighting which looks like a cross between a 1980's disco lounge and the transport console of the star ship enterprise in front of the few windows the place had should be fired. Awful. Not only is it unnecessary but it takes out half the seating the restaurant used to have, and the opportunity to gaze out onto Guilford as you eat it also takes out any natural light. As the lights seemed to be inoperative we were eating in near darkness. Remove it please. Next the service. Two ladies were behind the bar and spent more time washing coffee cups than sorting out our order. We were asked for drinks as doon as we sst down, but hadn't decided. A waitress eventually returned and took our food and drink order. We asked about their white wines and cider. She disappeared off and then carried on washing up. She eventually returned with an 'Oh I've put your food order in but forgot about your drinks.' She did bring them fairly quickly once we ordered. However there was no excuse for the inefficient use of her time, looking busy but actually doing very little. Food and wine were good though. Sadly the decor and service doesn't make me keen to return. A shame as it used to be lovely.
