Asda Cafe in Arun

My husband and I visited the store because we wanted some picture frames, but lunchtime was near so we ordered something to eat, not much in the chilly cabinet, we wanted a sandwich but there was nothing in the chiller cabinet, so we decided to go for toasted cheese and tomatoe, which came with chips my hubby said no chips which when it arrived they had put chips, on eating the toastie i thought this is horrible, gluppy, tastless, and the chips were dry the most worst thing was when i went to get some cutlery from the counter which were still dirty and some of which were covered in what looked liked paper, not very healty i must say. Today i have very bad indegestion now i know why. Myself i would eat in here again.

Ordered brunch - 3/4 tables of 2/3 people already waiting (some of whom I'd heard just ordering toasted sandwiches) so when Server said there'd be a wait but 'shouldn't be too long' I said ok. After 45 minutes I asked how much longer it would be (the people who ordered before ne still hadn't been served) and was told, crossly, we've been serving the people before you' (so 2 or 3 small tables at most). After another 10 minutes, by which time the person at a diabetic lady nearby was feeling unwell through not having eaten yet, I was told, VERY crossly, that 'we're waiting for the sausages and bacon to cook'. By now 2 more staff had arrived & food was coming out but not in order so people who had been waiting the shortest time were getting theirs before those who'd been waiting over an hour. Mine arrived 1 hour 10 mins after I'd ordered. And the food? Chips were horrible, tepid and tasted as though they'd been cooked hours earlier. The rest would have been ok for a quick, cheap meal but certainly not worth waiting for. Add hours to your life - DON'T GO!

Don’t bother. Two tills open. About 6 to 8 trolleys waiting in each queue. Queue to self service tills were a mile long. Staff standing around chatting. Left my trolley full of stuff there and went to Sainsbury’s. Had the same trouble last time.

Service was really bad, 1 member of staff come on . Iv worked in food before and omg I no how they feel . A big company like them they obviously don’t care about their staff . Was really good back in the day in 2021. Staff used to be lovely 😊

No hot food available. Coffees served in paper cups. Requested china cup. "Sorry, I don't have any cups". Pointed out TRAYS of cups. "Yes, but I'm alone and no-one here to wash up". Large dishwasher in evidence. About ten people in restaurant (around 10.30) so not that much washing up anyway. Also plates used so they would have to be washed too. Later young man seen lounging against counter looking at laptop so he would have had time to collect and wash up crockery? Will restaurant ever reopen for cooked food, or are staff walkouts becoming a regular occurrence.

Came here for a quick lunch after a busy morning, firstly I had to queue for 40 mins to order food…! One person behind the till- working hard but not enough staff. When I placed my family’s order I was told 3/4 meals were unavailable. The children’s lunch box was good for £1, sandwich, crisps, fruit, biscuits with water- cannot argue! The food then arrived after another 35 mins, the restaurant was only half full but noticed again only one member of staff doing the food. The food wasn’t the best/ you get what you pay for unfortunately… I won’t be returning in a hurry

I wouldn't apply to work here staff treated terribly and new staff left on there own. Food if its avaliable isn't much either and half the time is closed

Ordered a chicken burger and chips. The chicken did not e of chicken and was over cooked by a mile. It was tasteless and dry. Will not eat heee again as use to be good. Very poor.

Breakfast is cheap but you get what you pay for, all items of poor quality, small breakfast and poorly presented on plate.

Staff are helpful and happy . Not a bad choice of food.You can get baby food here and you can heat up some as well

The all day breakfast is good value and it is prepared quickly. Its a bit of a cafeteria feel but you don't go there for a fine dining experience. Its good value

Absolutely staggering amount for £5 hotplate. Cover to keep the food warm. And the food is better than sea lane cafe., Which in itself is quite good.

Used to be ok but the staff now have a big attitude problem which makes this place very uncomfortable- shame as these women make u known u are not welcome

My wife and I had a light lunch here on Monday 6th November, toasted cheese and ham sandwich with a very small quantity of green leaf and tomato. The cafe is located within a major supermarket - ASDA. What struck us as peculiar was being asked whether we wanted brown or red sauce at the counter. Brown sauce was available in sachet form on a separate counter but no tomato sauce ! ! Next, shock at the lack of sandwich filling. A tiny bit in the middle of the bread. The bread was also soggy on one side. Finally, shock at the price for this miserable offering - £9:50 ish is a rip-off in anyone's book. Conclusions: Poor quality food, high prices, odd service. Management: It needs sorting or you need changing. Trip Advisor Travellers: Not recommended.

Can't knock it, it's cheep clean and dose the job, it's not the best of gourmet foods but it's not bad for the price. I quite often take my staff there for breakfast in the morning before we start work.

When first opened, was quite good. Very poor now. Very limited choice of sandwiches, rolls etc, and what is there looks unfresh and is too expensive. We then hit on the idea of buying rolls and drinks at the Asda 'food to go' counter, at half the price, and eating them at one of the more secluded tables!

Food was just heated up in a microwave. Cafe area is dark and dingy needs to be a lot brighter and cheerful. Didn't enjoy eating there. Soft seating area was a lot better. Surprised considering the shop is of a clean roomy size.

La chaqueta de patata era tan pequeño, y muy poco queso, que como pagamos más. También tuvimos una insípida tortilla de queso, queso sólo donde estaba el? ? Y las patatas fritas eran poco hecha, y él parte de ensaladas era bien había algo en el plato! ! El té era feo, sólo. Muy decepcionante! ! !

We regularly attend the cafe and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Claire and the team always welcome our family and make our visit more enjoyable. They make a lovely latte and the cakes are delicious.

Have popped in several times before for a snack or lunch before shopping - quality, speed and customer service varies significantly - today I had an extremely efficient staff member, Lucy, take my order and advised about my allergy- she even came and found me to say my relish contained the ingredients I was allergic too and asked if I would like my burger cooked on a separate griddle !(brilliant customer service - well done Asda!) however, I have encounter a server called Claire several times now and every time she shows poor customer service and an off hand attitude! - to the point now I'm naming her in my review. On one occasion I tried to order food from her as there was No one behind the food station of the cafeteria set up - to be told I was ordering in the wrong place - So I took tree steps to my left to stand in front of an unstaffed Counter whilst Claire stood doing nothing. Today she did me a great and generous favour by allowing me to have 3 small sachets of sauce as I'd asked for more when she put 2 on my tray - but reluctantly, (maybe at her own expense??) she begrudgingly gave me a third but made the point that whilst she would usually charge for this on this occasion she'd let me have it free! Well Claire hope you get to read this and think about how your persistent rudeness spoils my experience!

Its reasonable food at very fair prices. Staff are helpful and friendly. The seating area could do with a make over but for a quick break from shopping its ideal

Asda Café at Ferring, West Sussex is great value for money and the staff within the department are friendly and helpful. From soup and a roll, a sandwich or a meal - excellent!Compliments to all staff.

This is a cafe in a supermarket so you wouldn't go in here unless there was a reason as there are plenty of other cafes within a few minutes that are nicer.The staff are nice here but the coffee is dreadful. The cups are too large and so the coffee tastes watered down. Some of the food I saw was presented ok and was a good price.I used the coffee shop when i was waiting to collect something.

Very nice breakfast but the lunch was not so smooth. After our first three choices of lunch wasn't on the menu I decided to have a sandwich and some chips. I say down and ate my sandwich and Luke warm chips. Not great.

freshly cooked tasty breakfast. No complaints at all. 9am on a saturday appears to be a good time as its quiet.

I have visited this in-store restaurant several times and it seems to be 'pot luck' regarding the food! I ate here with my husband a week ago, we both had ham, egg and chips and it was hot and delicious. We popped in again this week at around the same time, chose the same meal again as the last time it had been so good and it was virtually inedible! There was absolutely no comparison between the two meals - this last time it was obvious that the chips had been hanging around for ages, the ham was stringy and the fried eggs were almost cold (probably because I had seen the lady who served me put them on to cook before I had even ordered our drinks and then paid). There haven't been ANY teaspoons available for quite some time (do people pinch them?) so you have to use pathetic little wooden stirrers or a dessert spoon, and the knives and forks are very often streaked and dirty looking and need wiping before use. The coffee here has always been acceptable (no more than that) but the tea (according to my husband and the face he pulls!) is only ever lukewarm and can't really be classified as tea! The loos are just to the left of the restaurant's entrance and these at least always seem to be clean and tidy. Overall, I really can't recommend this restaurant to anyone UNLESS you want a slice of cake, which isn't bad.

Went here for my lunch with my daughter in law... yuck hair wrapped round meat in steak pie... no hats or nets worn won't be back. refund given under protest

When I am feeling really lazy, I go in for a coffee. There is usually some sort of drink and snack deal which is usually better value than buying items separately. It is a typical cafe and it is not open as long as the attached supermarket.

We have been here several times and found the Cafe to be convenient for a coffee and maybe breakfast before we shop in the mornings. It is very clean and the staff for the most part courteous.

Good value breakfast and staff very helpful although the store doesn't employ enough to cater at their busier times .

This cafe has the feel of being an after thought during building and was thrown in the corner. It reminds me of my school days sliding astray along on runners.It's nothing special in the slightest and I wouldn't eat here, not least its vast, cold and dated. But to grab a cupa it's ok. On the plus side the staff are happy! And it's not very busy so no queue!

Love asda cafe cheap and cheerful but good hot food and friendly staff plus plenty of good cake yummy

Had coffee and a snack lunch, coffee drinkable but the sandwich was a let down. Service was ok, but the young girl kept up a private conversation with her colleague the whole time she served me...... Not very good customer service! found somewhere to sit but lots of tables needed cleaning and clearing, lighting was " subtle" but it felt a little dingy.

it has no feel of welcome its cold and canteen like, do not like sitting there as it has a depressive feel come on asda you can do better this is like an after thought and chucked together with no thought as if you built the store then went oh damm we fogot the cafe

This place has to be one of the worst cafes in the local supermarkets. Whilst the staff do their best the whole place and the menu need a good refresh.

Stopped in for quick breakfast as traffic was mental on the a259, breakfast was ok, sadly with many choices available, the supermarkets all seem to choose to use the cheap frozen sausages, that have no taste, bacon was a bit undercooked, however, tea was hot, staff were friendly, and it's relatively cheap, so you get what you pay for here really.

Prices are higher than other supermarkets and the food out in the serving area all lookied dried out. However the fish and chips were great. Kids meals OK but felt like they had probably just got a tin of 30p pasta out of the store! OK if shopping and need a quick bite.

I called in for lunch purely by chance - a breakdown on the A259 meant everybody else was trying to pull across into the right hand lane - so I turned left into Asda and stopped for lunch! My mozzarella panini was full of flavour and had a lovely crispy texture. My treacle tart was a generous portion but I made the mistake of opting to heat it in the microwave rather than having it heated up for me while I was queueing and this spoilt the consistency of the pastry, making it a bit mushy.The staff were all pleasant and very helpful but things could have been a bit better organised - they ran out of trays and the lady stopped serving me to go and find more trays, the queue was quite slow moving as there was only one person serving the hot food and there were no knives. However, there was plenty of seating, everywhere looked clean and tables were cleared promptly.Overall it was good value and I would happily return.

Fast service & low prices, which are great when you have little children who can't sit still for too long. The facilities were clean & the baby change area was spotless.

Very good value for money and a large choice of hot or cold dishes. Nice clean envirement with the added bonus of doing the shopping before or after.

I have popped in several times after shopping but every time I find it hard to find a table to sit at where there aren't bits of food still lying on the floor and crumbs and bits on the booth like seats. A quick brush when cleaning the tables after use can't be that difficult to organise surely? I'd rather pay a bit more for a cup of coffee and be sure it's clean and not have to worry about having cake and whatever clogging up my shoes. Could do better, Asda...

hot and delicious food,plenty to chose from, very good value for money...very friendly staff. nothing to dislike

This is recently opened and is an ideal place to have a coffee after shopping. The coffee is surprisingly good, as are the cakes. You can also choose from a variety of teas. The sandwiches and rolls are generally good but the hot food tends to be cooked in advance (not cooked to order) so can be pretty variable.The prices are very reasonable and it's usually busy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
