Ascot Cafe in Windsor and Maidenhead

Went to the Ascot Cafe on Sunday 30 June 2024 for breakfast. We wanted to have breakfast before we set off on our journey home. We both ordered the full English breakfast with a pot of tea. The cafe was kept very clean, and although a little noisy at first due to being busy, the staff were very friendly. Payment is only taken by cash, but we knew that in advance after researching places to eat. The food was served promptly, and was hot, fresh and very tasty. Parking was available roadside and close to the cafe.

I went just for a coffee thinking that it'd have been better than coffee chains, but I was really disappointed with my double espresso. Very watery and the coffee bland was overly toasted. On top of that, the shop did not accept card payments.

I dropped in for breakfast before going racing as it's only a short walk to the course entrance. Prices are reasonable and I looked forward to a nice breakfast. It looked great but it was sadly really disappointing. My view is that the cafe uses cheap (and quite nasty) ingredients. I was happy with my eggs and bacon but the sausage and black pudding were tasteless, the hash brown just ok (I don't think the cooking oil had been changed in a while) the toast was poor and spread with some very yellow sort of margarine - completely inedible. The sauces were definitely not Heinz (or HP) and tasted pretty revolting. I'd rather pay a few pounds more and have tasty, quality food so it's a thumbs down for me.

Nice1 lads out for a nibble, only to be confronted by a large Baguette, so we cut into two, and enjoyed the delights 😊

Not sure if this place has changed hands a few times over the years? Popped in this morning to get a sandwich for lunchtime. The place was quite busy inside which is a good sign. My sandwich was tasty and fresh and not overpriced like some establishments around Ascot!

Considering the poshness of the area, this is a straight-up people's cafe, cash only. Good value. Their Full English breakfast was decent. Ate at a table in the alley outside. Two good-quality eggs–fried (one gone hard, though). Good enough sausages and bacon. OK mushroom, in tiny bits. A tomato. Plenty of beans. Two half slices of white toast. A welcome big (two-cuppa) pot of strong, hot lorry-driver’s tea. Ascot Cafe was my kind of place–good find.

Very nice local independent café. The food is really good and the service as well. Everyone is very friendly and approachable. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that you can only pay by cash.

We had some time to spare in Ascot and found Ascot's Cafe just along the High Street. There were already a few people inside but still tables were available so we went inside. At the counter we were greeted by the friendly staff, and we made our selection. We chose a table and soon our food was presented, freshly made, hot and excellent all round. A nice unhurried enjoyable atmosphere which was perfect for the time we had available.

Had breakfast here this morning. Very friendly, clean premises with a good variety of breakfast items. I went for the Full English which was very nice, apart from my personal dislike of having overcooked Egg yolks, served on the toast making it soggy. Good Sausages and Bacon, excellent coffee.

Good flexible service. It’s good to visit somewhere you can customise your meal in the current COVID climate. Only thing lacking is that not all tables are not spaced under COVID regulations especial outside at the front and no tracking . Good meal and good value. Would recommend but mask up. Easy access for wheel chairs and buggy’s except the cramps toilet. Please like if this helped.

Everyone is friendly both staff and patrons. Great homemade cooking and freshly squeezed orange juice. My only small complaint is they don't have Black Pudding with the Full English Breakfast. Otherwise the breakfast is freshly cooked and pleasantly presented.

We visit a lot as they make their own cakes, the specials are superb and all the ingredients fresh. This is an independent cafe for the community and is family friendly, well run and superb value.

Chose to have a full english here as it was central and it boasts food is fresh local produce. Paid £7.50 each for english breakfast which was the worst breakfast i've ever had. It seemed like supermarket budget baked bean and bread, bacon was ok but pale and fatty, Sausage was ok. Left feeling disappointed and wishing we had gone somewhere else.

Was driving through ascot this morning and found a rare parking space opposite the cafe Soo decided to call in for Breakfast I’m very glad I did Excellent English breakfast and coffee Great ingredients and cooked to perfection Hopefully I will pass bye again soon and find parking

My son and I came here on Wed 19th June 2019 for Royal Ascot - managed to get the last 2 places inside - both enjoyed a breakfast sandwich - very tasty and reasonably priced - the staff were brilliant and service with a smile. we will always use this place when in Ascot.

Such a lovely cafe on Ascot High Street. Great lunch and good price. The staff was so friendly and helpful.... we shall certainly be back when next we are in the area.

probably the worst café I have ever been too the breakfast is indescribably poor and the price is bordering on a joke

Drop off for the races so had to find somewhere for substances for the day and found this little gem even though it was a race day after a little waiting I got a table and had a lovely breakfast
