Artisan Bar & Kitchen in Isle of Wight

Came here with my partner late october for his birthday. cocktails were really good and well priced, 2 for £12 happy hour during the week. music was good and well suited for the vibe. bartender was incredibly good.

Booked here for a 40th birthday celebration…. Booked 6 months in advance and has the best service! However, as we got closer to the date the comms dropped until I was greeted by an email from Joe who had recently joined the team and he was absolutely fantastic, nothing was a problem! On the day, the team were fantastic and I couldn’t be more grateful. Service was on point, food requires some slight improvement but this didn’t take away from a great evening.

Rude and unhelpful staff, customers were an inconvenience. Went in saturday 28th sept at 5.15 to have a couple of cocktails. Sign outside said 2 for £12 Saturday 4-6. Barman immediately told us cocktail offer not on today as a hen party upstairs and they are using all the shakers! Despite having just made 2 pornstar martinis in a shaker and taking them to a couple sat by the window! Very rude and clearly didn’t want our custom. The bar was empty except 2 people drinking cocktails! So we left and went elsewhere. Been here before and not very welcoming. Staff need a lesson in customer service, was very awkward and we felt like an inconvenience. Would not recommend, much nicer and friendlier places to go for drinks.

Went for a hen party and cocktail making in the upstairs room. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Two cocktails with instructions from Jay, all the bits and pieces necessary. Also had a shot, hot and cold buffet which was perfect for soaking up the alcohol. We all had a lovely evening, thank you!

Customer service was really non-existent. We had booked and even given our allergies. Although even after they called to check on the booking, when we arrived, nothing had been communicated. Very poor vegetarian offering and a lot of items were not available. The waitress was not concerned and could well do with a lesson on how to smile and treat customers. When the food arrived, it was poor, over cooked macaroni bites, and a chicken burger was tasteless and full of fat and skin inedible. The chips, however, were nice, as were the cocktails, but again, surely the customers should be a priority before staff behind the bar on their phones and ignoring customers. It's such a shame as it could have been so much nicer .I would only recommend a drink here

Very good experience. We had katsu Scallop starter was amazing combination of flavours. Decided to go for the fish of the day which was fabulous - a whole sea bass, amazing. My friend went for the katsu chicken burger which was also amazing. All paired very well with freshly made cocktails. Will definitely be back.

What a lovely Hidden Gem !! We used this venue for my birthday celebrations, Upstairs of the Artisan bar. What a beautiful area. Seating, adaquate tables, Bar, lovely decor. The food was freshly prepared and was absolutely delicious. Compliment s to the chef!! The cocktails were the best iv had on the island by far, so highly recommended!! All the staff were amazing and a credit to the company ! Had an amazing time. Well done to all. Definitely will be back. Ideal for party gatherings or any other meet ups!!!

Booked a slot through The Price is Wight offer. Had difficulty booking as telephoned three times and only had ansaphone message which advised to book a table by email. I did this but had no confirmation, so telephoned a fourth time and the lady who answered said she would check the diary, and made the reservation. When we arrived we were the only two people there. There was a young lad behind the bar who served us and gave us menus. The menus they gave were different to the ones that were on the price is wight website and also different to the ones on their own website. Very disappointing. My veggie burger was cool around the edges but the middle was piping hot - obvious microwaved, it was meant to have a salad but there was only one slice of tomata and two small lettuce leaves! We asked for a jug of water and two glasses, unfortunately the glasses were very dirty, and the table was very sticky with marks left from previous people. The cocktails we ordered we fine, it was just that the glasses again were very sticky and wet and we had to ask for a drink mat. When we went to use the toilets, there were three ladies toilets but two were out of order and the third one really needed to be cleaned. It really felt that no one really cared about this place, or the customers. The young lad behind the bar had plenty of time to clean the tables, glasses etc. Another couple came in after us and had coffee, the barman cleared their cups away but didnt wipe the table, another couple came in and the barman went next door to Sainsburys to buy the beer and wine that they had requested. Overall, no we would not return, and would not recommend.

This place was amazing! A hidden gem in Ryde. I looked long and hard for a nice place to eat before coming to IOW and this place did not disappoint. The food was 10/10 - I had the chicken and chorizo linguine. Our lovely waitress was very attentive with great customer service! Would 100% recommend for food and cocktails.

Disappointing. Limited menu. Poor service. No vegan mains. Not confident with dietary questions. The vegan wings were nuggets. Sad times.

Iv had pizza everywhere and when I Say their calzone is like nothing you’ve had before I am not exaggerating. The dough was fluffy I’m guessing home made but really unique in texture and flavour I cannot wait to come back.. the cheese cake was good too however the calzone was the star of the show for me

Made a booking in Nov for a lunch meal out for my sister in laws 60th birthday. When I arrived on 27 Dec it was shut, when I rang they informed me they wouldn’t be opening but were well aware of my booking as knew my name. I had no correspondence to cancel the booking. I was very disappointed as we were looking forward to our meal and drinks to celebrate. Very poor customer service as didn’t seem too concerned about my booking when I rang. Will not be making any future visits totally unreliable!!

The brandy Alexander was the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world!! What an amazing barman! I cannot wait to go back! The lady serving maybe needed to come across a little friendlier … But the food we had was delicious too!

SUCH slow service, a 30 minute wait for 2 cocktails and completely uninterested staff. Outside seating is not great sitting on the street basically. Avoid, head to Harbour House instead, nice vibes, good cocktails and better location!

Good service, nice decor (including all-important loos!) and a great, reasonably priced Sunday roast (had the nut roast, it was lovely!) Would definitely visit again.

Rude staff who gave us the wrong drinks, overcharged us and have no idea what customer service is. I was waiting at the bar for service, the barman acknowledged me, then went and served two women who just walked in off the street - despite me waiting 5 mins at the bar! Average cocktails with tiny measures. Heron Lounge down the road is much better!!

Had a cocktail masterclass with Jay. Such a good host. Friendly, funny and enthusiastic. Definitely deserves a raise.

Extremely disappointed with my birthday meal, the food and the overall running of the restaurant was very poor. I had booked the private room upstairs, upon arrival I was told that the party room has already got a booking so my party had to sit downstairs with the rest of the public. This was not how I wanted to spend my 30th birthday, I asked what time the other booking was for and it was for 7pm, my booking was for 6pm so I said that we were first we therefore should have the room. They allowed this which was a good start. As we got upstairs the tables were pushed together really bad so I couldn’t see half my party, it was dark, extremely hot and a really neglected vibe, I had to ask for music to be played in the background (that took a good 45 mins) Food was tasteless and dry. The ONLY thing I enjoyed was my cocktails and bowl or chips. I had a steak board and the prawns and pork was so burnt I couldn’t eat it. Such a huge shame as we we l walked out disappointed. Won’t be going there for food again. As we came down the other party was there and it was a horrible vibe, staff glaring at us as well as the other party looking at us like it was our fault they couldn’t be upstairs at 7pm. Never again!!!

OMG!! That’s all I have to say this food was amazing and such a big amount, I would recommend to everyone because everyone should try this food 🤩 They do delivery as well so if you don’t fancy going out do a delivery (which I did) and is now my favourite delivery place ❤️

My wife and I stayed in Ryde for 6 nights in May 2023 and went on a Sunday lunchtime to the Artisan Cocktail Bar & Grill. We decided to eat the Sunday roasts on offer and we were very pleased with our meals. The service was very good and we were very pleasantly surprised with how good the roasts were, bearing in mind that it calls itself a bar and grill. If we stay in Ryde again, we would definitely eat at the Artisan.

Our group of six went for a Cocktail Master Class on Sunday afternoon. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco and then we met Jay who carried out our class. Jay was great, very informative good fun, and a treat to watch showing us how to make the perfect cocktail. Would definitely recommend this for a fun afternoon. Thanks Jay.

Went here on mother's day, had very good meal so I booked a table for 2 for my girlfriends birthday. We got in, sat down ordered drinks and meal steak platter for 2 was in formed there is no chicken wings so they was gonna put some extra pork on platter but that never happened ether. Ordered another drink and barman had to run to shop to get vodka. We had a wait for that then the platter came out waitress put ours and another table at same time asked for mustard waitress went to shop for that as well. we still had not got chips or onion rings at this stage, so we asked for them by this time 8mins after main had been on table then was told there's no onion rings so we had enough we got up and walked out.

Went to celebrate my birthday. The staff were warm and friendly. However, after ordering a shared steak platter and enjoying a few drinks, I was surprised to have to wait for my Vodka, while staff went to the local supermarket. The steak platter arrived minus the chicken wings, vine tomato's and no extra pork as promised . We ask for mustard, where the waitress left us with half our dinner and went shopping for some. Cops finally arrived , but guess what, no onion rings, they had run out. We were very disappointed in the lack of stock and the haphazard way the food was presented and served. I if it's a special occasion give Artisan a miss.

Can't say enough about this place. The service was top notch. The food was the best meal we have had in many years. I am so picky with chicken wings and I've never had a wing as good as it was here. We had the sharing plate and the pork was seasoned and tender, the flat iron was charred and medium rare, and by far best steak we had in years. The onion rings were light and crispy. The rosemary fries were incredible. I had the special starter of Korean fried chicken tacos. Unbelievable. Absolutely nothing to fault this place. Please go here, you will not be disappointed in any way! 10 out of 10.

Really nice atmosphere - we visited on a Sunday evening at 7pm with our two children and we weren’t disappointed. Friendly service, lovely selection of cocktails and food. Normally in similar places we always feel a bit self conscious about having our kids with us but here we definitely didn’t, nice selection of kids food available too. Friendly service, also really reasonably priced!

What an evening! There was five of us eating and drinking, could not get more attentive staff! Waitress and barman were running around doing a fab job! Food was beautiful! Cocktails were insane! If you’ve got a lot of time on your hands then visit. A lot of time to wait for staff to serve you. They are hopeless. Sat outside due to Covid regulations and waited and waited for any service. We bought a drink - although the previous customers half drunk glasses were left on the table for an hour - and were presented with menus. Waited and waited to be served. Finally they came to take our order and then told us the kitchen was closed. If they had served us on time we could have eaten. Now we’ll never know. As we’re never coming back.

We bobbed into this bar to dodge the downpour in Ryde! The welcome from the young lady and the attentive service was wonderful! The place was a pleasure to sit in and the food and coffee was good BUT ……… such small portions! The cheese and onion sandwich I had was tasty but so small! And the kettle crisps were just the end bits from the packet! Plus asked for coleslaw as it had been missed from the board (the plates are wooden boards) .

However, slightly disappointed with its portion sizes, we ordered moules SHARER under mains... had about 7 moules each... not impressed for the price. It was very tasty just wished there was more or they had said it’s a smaller portion and recommended ordering something else. The sharing portion was smaller than a portion for one person in most other places, a shame for £20 to get less than 20 moules... maybe this needs to be a starter sharer rather than main course. starter was very tasty but small too, the service was also quite slow but we did not mind as it was very nice in there, I would go back for drinks and maybe food just not the moules.

Found Artisan by chance after walking around Ryde looking for dog friendly place to eat (Very difficult!). Artisan were dog friendly inside and out. The staff couldn't do enough for us from the minute we walked through the door and they made our doggie feel very welcome tooThe food was fantastic - very high quality. I had fish tacos and beef burnt ends and my partner had philly steak sandwich - all large portions and delicious (My partner took half of his sandwich home and it still tasted amazing cold!)I also tried a watermelon margarita which was a tasty twist on the classic version.Lovely food, lovely staff and lovely decor - Definitely worth a visit to Artisan.

We had a fantastic lunch here. Service was excellent, the place is lovely and the food is top notch and reasonably priced. Mainly hot sandwiches for lunch, by so tasty. Will definitely be back!

Went here because could not get into another restaurant we tried, and really glad we did. The service was faultless, the food was excellent, I had the sirloin steak (called Rawhide on the menu) with the goldrush sauce, I asked for medium rare but it was slightly less pink than I normally like but the meat was so tender you did not need a steak knife and full of flavour, the sauce was also very good. My wife had the vegetarian chilli which you can specify how hot it is as all meals are freshly cooked to order, this also was very good. With drinks the bill was less than £50!!

Popped in on a rainy afternoon. Amazing seafood risotto and mackerel cooked to perfection. Lovely friendly service. Highly recommend!

I stayed in Ryde for a few days with my mum and we loved this place. We had my dog with us and he was made really welcome. The staff were amazing, with a special thank you to Rob who had an impressive knowledge of wine /cocktails, who went above and beyond. If you like good quality food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere you must visit this place. Highly recommended I can’t wait to visit again on my next holiday

Hadn't been in for a while so pleasantly surprised by new management team - we met Sue who couldn't have been nicer! Menu was fairly similar to before and was still very tempting. We both opted for the special, beautifully cooked chicken in an amazing marsala sauce. Had to go for dessert (just to be polite of course). Eton mess and chocolate torte. Again beautifully presented and superb to eat. Really enjoyed the whole experience but needs a bit of a push to get more people in. Prices might put people off, but don't be fooled, the dishes are wonderful and if anything remarkable quality art this price point. Pop in, just for a coffee or a pint. It's worth it.....

I've been coming to the Artisan for a while now and it wasn't a bad place, but since the new owners took over it's gone from strength to strength. They're lovely folks who really know what they're doing, and Rob the manager is not only a true professional, but makes the best cocktails I've ever had. Bravo guys.

We were welcomed in even though we had 8 children in tow. Sat by the front and made quite a mess! The owner (and her daughter) went out of their way to accommodate the children with colouring in gear- they went out to to get more especially! The kids portions were generous and the burgers (chicken & veal) were really tasty. Nice decor and friendly staff good drinks selection. Would come again- maybe when the sun is out!

The restaurant atmosphere and deco was lovely however the service was slow and not as good as I had hoped. There wasn’t a very large variety of dishes and the food my partner and I had was mediocre - nothing special.

Visited on the 11th of January and was not disappointed. Both my wife and Dad are vegetarian and they loved their meals. I had the steak and it was amazing! Mia served us and she was polite and attentive, a real asset to your team! We are planning another trip to the Isle of Wight in the summer and we will be back without a doubt!Keep up the great work.

Lamb chump always recommended as is everything I've eaten here. Looking forward to my mango cheesecake. Would show you a pic of lamb but I ate it. Moist pink meat on a gorgeous risotto base. Manager Anthony is amazing, always has time to have a catch up and new member of staff Mia is friendly and efficient and very smiley x give it a go you will not be disappointed.

Great friendly staff. My husband has fish and chips which was excellent and I had the veal burger again excellent. The wine menu offers a good range of fairly priced wines too. Only small disappointment we had the olives and bread to start and although the olives were nice the white bread was dry and had seen better days. The brown bread was ok.

Had been down in the dumps after England losing the Rugby World Cup final, and after a dreary trawl around some of Ryde's more average watering holes this place was great...downstairs bar had a great selection of craft beers and ciders (quite expensive though) with some entertainment later on in the evening...modern decor....mixed crowd...good atmosphere. Upstairs cocktail bar is great....decor is a bit more whacky and it is cosier and more intimate...antique style seating and silly hats to wear after a few 'zombies'. Cocktail fella was very friendly, knowledgeable and amenable - he let us put our own music on and birthday boy got a free cocktail. Excellent range of drinks available...not too badly priced. Filled up after a wee while and had a great atmosphere....slightly younger crowd that downstairs. Recommended.

Friendly service. Resembles a very, very fancy pub. I had the Mac & Cheese which I feel would have lacked flavour had I not opted for the ham on top. Definitely wasn't worth the price though. The garlic bread seemed to have been made with a sweet bread with currants in, but it tasted fine. Another member of my party had the sunday roast. I did manage to nab one of their potatoes which tasted fab! You can also help yourself to tap water which I thought was convenient.

I have been visiting IOW for 18years (my whole life), and my family for many years previous. We have tried many places for dinner but this trip we had booked Artisan, and it did not disappoint. A lovely atmospheric dinner on Saturday with delicious food, great drinks, live music and great service. And when our reservations somewhere else didn’t work out for Sunday lunch we headed back to our new favourite spot, knowing that the food they would provide would be great, a fantastic Sunday Roast! We were served and treated so kindly by Lynette, so a big thank you to her. We will definitely be back!

I've lived in Ryde all my life and had the pleasure of popping into Artisan the other week to be greeted by, may I say the most hospitable lady with long brown hair, I didn't catch her name but she was so welcoming. I had the fizz and chips which was delicious, the batter was mixed with prosecco!! It was a wonderful lunch and I can't wait to come back!

It's been a while since some of us had been to the IOW but we were recommended to go here. And I’m extremely glad we did. In fact we went twice over the weekend we were on the IOW.The staff were fantastic, special mention to Jamie Lee, Rob and Ben. The drinks especially the cocktails were excellent with lots of choice and suggestions on combinations etc.The food was also very good and we were lucky enough to have some live music on the Saturday evening we were dining. A local artist who was very good.A brilliant time was had by all and the other diners appeared to be enjoying themselves as much as we were.I would thoroughly recommend this establishment and look forward to visiting again.Best,Ben

Thank you to all at Artisan who helped to make my birthday so special. A young, dark haired lady, wearing glasses was managing tonight and she was excellent and attentive! Her warm, happy, professional nature was a joy. The beer battered fish and chips were delicious and presented in an appealing and appetising manner. The beer batter was really lovely. The chocolate cake I had for pudding was equally delicious. I chose Artisan as I had family from the mainland visiting. I love that Artisan is a stylish, sophisticated, yet relaxed restaurant and bar. For the next part of our night we went upstairs to the gin bar with its classy, boutique lounge feel. I’ve had cocktails made by Rob before and highly recommend him to friends, Tonight was no exception and we all enjoyed Rob’s exquisite cocktails and charming banter. I have family who have worked in the bar industry who tell me how much skill goes into making cocktails and Rob’s talent and creativity is evident. Thanks all for a great night and making us feel so welcome both upstairs and downstairs. I highly recommend Artisan to anyone looking for a stylish venue, either for meal in the restaurant or drinks with friends!

We had visited Artisan for drinks on Friday and decided to eat there the following evening......the menu looks pretty good and apart from 2 Fish and Chips we all had something different. We ordered just main courses and waited and then waited and waited some more......... over an hour later we got our food, now this was OK as we had great company but just an apology from the team would have been appropriate but nothing.........anyway my Pork Belly turned up and it was tiny served in a small bowl adorned with what was advertised homemade focciacia just cold sliced bread not grilled just stone cold.It all tasted great hence no complaint but suffice to say had I not ordered a side then I'd have been hungry!!All in all a nice meal but just attention to detail and slightly better service would make Artisan really good.

I’ve visited the Artisan since 20 July and have met Jamie, Lynette, Angus, Ben, Rob and Anthony as the bar staff. Anthony served me my first ever Artisan coffee last Sunday. The atmosphere is outstanding.I have met Jamie most often out of the staff, who, like the other staff is very accommodating to customers’ individual needs, who provide a warm welcome to me and other customers.I also made my first ever visit to the Upstairs part of the Artisan on 28 September which I’d not got around to visiting before last Saturday where they have an additional bar and seating.The Artisan also holds live music.I have varied having one or more soft cold and hot drinks to one or more drinks and a meal, and staying for a few minutes through to an hour or longer, depending on the occasion in question, but whatever the duration, I always arrive and leave feeling happy at the Artisan.The Artisan has many alcoholic drinks including cocktails, as well as soft drinks including an exquisite orange juice from freshly squeezed oranges, and a separate fizzy orange juice drink, plus specialist rhubarb and separately apple drinks among the wide variety of drinks they sell.At my most recent visit, Lynette and Jamie were on duty. On this occasion, Jamie took my order at the bar counter and also delivered my fish & chips meal to my table (an excellent size portion of both) where I watched and listened to a Jazz trio performing to my right at the far end of the downstairs (entrance) room.

Really good feel about the place especially with the longer evenings drawing in. Wide ranging menu, lots of live music, fantastic attention to detail with the decor. Staff are attentive and very friendly. Particular mention to Jamie who is an energetic and fun 'front of house'.

We love Artisan. Jamie is the very best Front of House. It is a great neighbourhood haunt. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. We dined there recently and the food was delicious and the service quick and attentive. I would absolutely recommend this bar and restaurant.

Visited Artisan this evening for a spur of the moment meal, very happy to see a variety of vegetarian options available on the menu, the baked mac and cheese was absolutely lovely! Great atmosphere and staff were very helpful, our server Lynette was brilliant.Will definitely be back again.

Popped into Artisan for dinner and was immediately greeted by Lynette who was warm, welcoming and knowledgable. She gave me help with the menu due to my dietary restrictions and recommended some great veggie food. The food was delicious, thanks Lynette for the great choice and thanks also to the chef! The beetroot hummus was divine! We will definitely be back for my big birthday in a few weeks time!

Stopped at the Artisan Bar and Kitchen for a bite to eat and escape the wind. Immediately the super friendly bar staff invited us in (we were going to sit outside as we had our dog with us) telling us we were more than welcome inside with her. Opted for the breakfast menu and both had “The Waffle”, it was absolutely delicious. If we were locals we would definitely be visiting again. The only thing I can think of as improvement would be to have a baby changing table in the toilets.

Very friendly welcome. Quick & efficient service. Good choice of local ingredients on the menu. Tasty steak with all the trimmings & a very boozy Eton mess. Reasonably priced.

A very friendly welcome with good service. Interesting menu, unfortunately did not deliver in terms of expectations.My husband had the partridge special, which was a small portion for the money. The deserts were disappointing. Seems popular as a drinking venue. Loos are down some steep stairs.

went to Artisan for lunch. Food was extremely tasty and beautifully presented. Service immaculate. Lots of really nice touches in here with both decor and condiments that really makes the atmosphere. Lovely choice of very laid back music. Nice pint of IPA. The cocktails in here are good too. Not one small thing that was wrong. Highly recommend. I was very impressed.

I visited Artisan a few weeks back with a group of friends for what we'd expected to be an enjoyable evening. Moments after entering, the manageress came to greet our party, she seemed fun and bubbly, however had a strong stench of alcohol and marijuana on her breath which is not what we'd expect from someone with her job title. After a drink or two, Jamie (i believe her name was) the manageress, became very consistent, back and forth from the table pushing for a trip adviser review. Which is nice however it felt very forced upon us to do so. We headed to the cocktail bar where we enjoyed several immaculate cocktails, the mixologist was very professional and catered cocktails to fit all of our liking. Over all we enjoyed our experience, however do believe that some staffs roles should be reconsidered .
