A special little tearoom in the Sussex countryside - a hidden gem. Well worth a visit. Delicious food with a huge variety on the menus to cater for every appetite and dietary request - all very good value. Welcoming and friendly staff. Tearoom has indoor setting, outdoor undercover seating and lots of picnic tables with parasols - very English niknacs and bunting adding to the pleasant ambience. Several well-looked after guinea pigs are amusing to watch. Highlight of our visit was watching the garden birds, especially the friendly robin family. Visited twice this week after discovering this wonderful little tearoom.

I really can't agree with all of the positive reviews for this Tea Roo. I ordered breakfast and Tea, which was brought to my table. The presentation and quality of the food was far from good as the sausage looked anemic, short stubby and white. The one slice of Bacon was small and shrivelled and the egg was overdone. Soory, but won't be going here again.

It is a really pretty setting and the cake and tea we had tasty and plentiful but I was extremely upset to see a cage of doves and quail with no access to fresh water. There was also little food. The water bowels were completely dry and covered in bird poo. Distressing. The doves were flying at the grill of the aviary and small children and dogs were not giving them a moments peace. A lady went into the cafe and asked them to give them some water as soon as possible. Upsetting. Won't return.

As always we enjoy our visits to see Mandy & Peter and their staff. Food optional ! Seriously this is a lovely friendly venue, but sometimes suffers from being too popular and often gets flooded with people who haven't booked. This I believe is the cause of any negative reviews regarding service. The food is just like Mum's, Mandy's cakes are exceptional and Peter still serves up much too veg ! This is a very dog friendly location - bowls and biscuits always available. Special mention for James who foolishly gave me his mobile when the landline played up !! My husband and I visited friends yesterday at their new home in Eastbourne, and the husband took us to Arlington Tea Gardens along with his wife and young son. They had already discovered it as a favourite place: the son loves seeing the birds and chickens, and the father likes buying plants for their garden. It was softly raining and we had a sheltered table outside. Absolutely magic. The woman (owner?) who took our orders is a delight. When I asked if the jams were made there she said with a smile ‘98% of everything here is made here.’So far, I have only tried the lemon and blueberry cake. It is exquisite. My husband hasn’t stopped talking about it. He feels they should string up fairy lights and keep it open for dinner. We can’t wait to return. I am looking forward to trying every other cake and scone. The drive here is pretty amazing, too. Fairytale English countryside. Come and walk around, make a day of it.

We called by for lunch on Sunday 9th May 2021. It was extremely busy and we were glad to have reserved a table. Bit of a wait for our main meals but understandable considering the large number of persons present. Everything was served up in single use containers, a wise choice with COVID still around. The staff were helpful despite being under pressure. Toilets consisted of two Portaloos which were clean and stocked well with the essentials. Sadly we had recently purchased our plants elsewhere as there was a good selection of healthy looking bedding plants etc outside the main building for sale at a reasonable price. Bit off the beaten track but a nice place none the less. Will drop in again for a cuppa in the not too distant future.

We stopped off here with my mother, the table next door had just left and after a while a young girl came out and casually sprayed the table covering maybe 20% of it and limply wiped one wipe covering maybe 10% of it, the plastic chairs were not touched...this really is not acceptable in these times. I went to the loo and I understand has to be a portaloo but it was pretty poor cleanliness wise inside I won’t go into detail. My fruit cake all the fruit had sunk ! The coffee was 2nd rate, surely in this day and age you can expect decent coffee and the general appearance of the setting is pretty run down (plastic sheet windows, dead grass, dying plants in pots and the whole garden is pretty poorly maintained). Its like a 1960’s time warp, cakes under old plastic covers etc things have moved on and this place needs to catch up.

My husband and I visited Arlington Tea Room last Friday. We enjoyed our visit and its a nice place to go. I can only mark as average as although my husband thought his lemon and ginger scone was excellent,my toasted teacake was one of the worst I've eaten. It was as flat as a pancake, hardly any fruit and just one butter. there was complimentary jam but I'm not supposed to eat it as I'm diabetic ( but I don't like jam with teacakes anyway) The cup of tea was good, such a shame as I like teacakes and haven't eaten one for ages. Our first visit here and we will certainly be visiting again. An extremely nice setting unfortunately we were unable to sit outside but only because it was jolly chilly today. But inside was very cozy and warm. Staff extremely friendly. Food very tasty, we had cake and that was yummy and homemade. All very reasonably priced to.

Good wholesome home cooked food in a tranquil rustic setting plus twitter of birdsong Meal , teas , coffee and cake. My only request is for some 'small plates' - this is growing in popularity in the UK.

Havent been here for a few years and remember it being fab for pumpkins so stopped in for a drink and some cake and to pick up a pumpkin or 2. Definately not disappointed. Friendly staff, lovely generous portions of cake but be quick as not many pumpkins left!

Visited here for a meeting on a sunny day and sat in the garden which was lovely. I have given 3 stars because I was disappointed with the scone that I ordered. Small, lacking flavour and cheap butter in a plastic foil. The setting is glorious but I would have preferred less choice of scone flavours and a better quality scone and condiments. The service was fine and I will visit again and try something different to eat.

Although the inside is a bit small the gardens are a large size with several aviaries with different birds. The food here is fantastic never had a bad meal there at all and we have been there to many times to count. They do hot food and salads. Recommend the scones, the owner makes various ones depending on the time of year with their own special jams. A very friendly well run tea room. Grandkids love it here.

Service was very prompt despite being busy and you could tell the birds were all well looked after. The scones tasted wonderful but there was a large menu of other items I have yet to try. Also love the gluten free and vegan range

We were looking forward to trying this place out. Ideal location after a walk in Abbots wood. Positives Service was excellent, prices are very fair, menu is varied, extensive choice of cakes/scones, pretty gardens, dog friendly NegativesThree of us were all disappointed with our cakes, scone very crumbly and flat, Victoria sponge dry and coffee/walnut had no flavour at all. Wish I could score higher but we went for cake, so can only score average, despite the positives.

This is a delightful tea garden, with an aviary outside and a friendly parrot that loves attention inside. There were several varieties of scones - usual plain and fruit, but also orange, apricot and sultana, cheese. I tried the orange, which was lovely, the other varieties being similarly well received. Unfortunately, my cake was very dry / stale, which was a let down on an otherwise good experience. Also, the tea pots were frustratingly small, making just 1 and a half cups.

Cheap prices but cheap is what you get. Coffee is undrinkable - asked for an Americano, got a watery filter coffee. Bread in sandwich was cheap and pappy. Service reasonable, but if you only do filter coffee, why not say so when ordered?
