We called in to this hotel on a Monday and found that it was two indian meals for the price of one. The waiter and other staff were very helpful in explaining the dishes to us, We had a lovely meal it was very tasty and we really enjoyed the evening. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good meal. There was plenty of choice on the menu and the meal was very well presented.

We had a family buffet lunch for 15 adults and 5 children in the restaurant. Namit was very helpful in helping us decide what to have, how to set the room out and ensuring everyone had the food they had ordered. It was relaxed and professional with good service, tasty food and friendly staff. We all enjoyed it, ranging in ages from 1 to 87!

My wife and I visited The Tree/Annora restaurant today. The food was brilliant with a great variety of dishes. You can select from the carvery (lovely roast spuds), today it was beef and pork (cracking crackling) A variety of salads. And/or salad selection of curries - fish coconut, lamb rogon Josh, and vegetarian curries. Also chicken in white wine sauce, pork in szechuan sauce... And even pasta. With such variations and food of such quality you can't go wrong.

We attended here as a party of 12 on Christmas Day and could not have been more disappointed. The entire experience was awful from start to finish. 1. After being seated we were not told that starters were being bought to the table, we had to ask what was happening on more than one occasion. 2. The queue's for the self service buffet were horrendous and no stuffing or pigs in blankets left for many of our party. 3. The quality of the roast dinner was shocking.... Frozen, hard roast potatoes, frozen vegetables that had not been cooked correctly and meat so tough you could break a window with it. 4. When we made it through to dessert it didn't get much better, 3 arrived to start with and the following came approx 15 minutes later. 5. The restaurant was overcrowded, many of our chairs being knocked when people passing and some of us were sat behind a door. 6. Asked for coffee 3 times which we never received. They then had the cheek to add a service charge to the bill for a self service buffet and the worst service possible. We have since been so upset by this that we have complained to the restaurant but they have refused to compensate us with a refund and have offerred us a free Sunday lunch!!! Why on earth would we want to go back??? When we spoke with somebody about our disappointment he was pretty rude and dismissed anything we had complained about. Don't believe any positive review on this, we spoke with at least 3 other large parties who also said it was awful. We understand that this was one of the cheaper Christmas Day meals but we have eaten better quality food at macdonalds! Thank you to the Tree for ruining our family Christmas meal.

We were looking for an Indian and luckily found this one very close to where we were staying. The food was brilliant all very tasty!! What was very odd is the 'restaurant' is set in a very British pub/hotel and in the same room as the bar. Just a bit odd for good Indian food to be in that setting. There was also a wedding in the function room which was fine but as the bar was in the 'restaurant' Everyone was coming back and forth for drinks which didn't create a nice atmosphere for the great food! Lastly, while I was happy with my curry there wasn't a huge selection of curries on offer.

(Tree hotel) Looking for lunch on long journey and what a treat this was. I had black lentil curry which was excellent and the pilau rice was amazing, fresh and fragrant. Partner had a burger which he didn't rave about so much, but it was good. Too full to try anything else. Good strong coffee as well. Dogs allowed inside and outside pub area, lots of veggie choice. Will try and pass by again at a mealtime. Lovely walk along river nearby.

Booked a table with my partner for half past 7 in the evening. We left at 20:45 without receiving a drink food or any form of service. We walked in and was told our table was in the corner near the door. We wasn't even seated. 30 minutes later my partner went to the bar and asked for menus. 15 minutes later we placed our drinks order. After waiting 30 more minutes we left. We did not receive our drinks. Nor did we even get the opportunity to place a food order. When leaving and telling the staff we are leaving. She shrugged her shoulders. No apology. No expiration. My partner has worked in the trade and I'm fully aware of the stress etc which a restaurant can be put under. But the manners where shocking. This wasn't just us. The table next to us had ordered food also. The received naan breads as part of there meal. We left 20 minutes after they had received there breads and they where still waiting for the rest of there meal.

Arrived without a booking at 7.00pm on a Friday night. We ordered a drink at the bar, and asked for a table for two. The bar was fairly busy four or five tables were set up for dining. We were taken through to the restaurant part of the Hotel in another room. This room was large with a very high ceiling, the ceiling had large cracks and damp patches. The room was stark, and the woodwork looked grubby and it was freezing cold. Also the carpet was dusty throughout. We were the only two diners in there. We ordered an Indian sharing starter. it arrived after a bit of a wait, (we were not offered anymore drinks so we asked for the wine menu). The food was served on a cold plate, the food was lukewarm apart from the fishcake which was so hot it burnt our mouths. We waited some time for someone to come in the room and notice that we had finished our starters. I was just about to get up and look for someone when a gentleman came through and took our plates away. after a glass of wine our mains arrived, my rib-eye steak would have been adequate if I was having a steak sandwich, it was so thin! It came with seven uncooked cherry tomatoes on the vine and a stack of fat chips, the chips looked and tasted like they had been fried in well used oil, they were a horrible dark brown colour! My husband had a few small slices of duck on a bed of garlic mash, served with cherry tomatoes, that again were cold and uncooked. We decided not to have coffee and desserts due to slow service , poor food and lack of ambience. I would definitly not recommend this restaurant So not worth the £71 plus it cost us!

I have visited this restaurant a few times recently for lunch, but sadly I have never been in the area on a Sunday to try out their Sunday lunch Buffet. Until this week that is. I was in the area and decided to go there after being recommended by so many people. I am so glad I did as the food was superb. There was many different starters to choose from. I had the Apple soup followed by Bhaji's and salad, then rice and potato curry and Aubergine curry. I could have chosen from many more dishes but decided to stick to these two as I was enjoying them. being a Vegetarian I find that many places don't give you much choice but here there was lots for me to choose from. There was also a full carvery available to meat eaters. You can have a curry with a Yorkshire pudding on top if you so want to! Speaking to the friendly management staff I was informed that they also offer a similar buffet for Christmas parties which I think is a great idea,as its appealing to many different tastes and dietary requirements. I think this is a perfect venue to hold a Christmas Party in the modern restaurant.

Nice setting but very poor customer service and average food. Had a really bad experience last night - the waiter (who was actually the manger I later realised) brought out the main course before the starter then started to argue about it when I later complained that the mains were obviously re-heated (my boyfriend's chicken and risotto was pretty horrible). I had a salmon and avocado salad... with no avocado... and they added bacon without checking if I eat it. No apologies whatsoever from the staff. Disappointing as had heard good things but definitely won't be going back.

We decided to go to the Tree in Iffley for their Lohri celebrations. What a night! Indian drumming, dancing round the fire followed by a selection of Indian food. Very reasonably priced and something different for a cold Saturday evening in January. Great fun. As we were in the area and this restaurant has good reviews we booked to go there for my birthday celebration meal. Big mistake. It is not a restaurant at all but a pub. I have no problem with pub food, in fact I have had some exceptional meals in a pub, but not this one.The surroundings are very ordinary, complete with gaming machine. A few tables had covers on them that counted as the restaurant. There is little choice on the menu. The Thai addition is one choice of a main course so don't think this warrants being called a Thai restaurant! The barman/waiter was very friendly and the food was okay but if you want somewhere a bit special, don't go there.

A return to the sister restaurant of the Tree at Cadmore, the Tree Hotel in Iffley offers a very similar style of eating: mix of Indian, Thai, English and classic English pub grub. But it is the Indian food that is the best thing about this place. So much to choose from and whatever you select is guaranteed to be great. The Tree recently had a new chef installed and he has continued the high standard of food quality and presentation. The night we went, they had a wine tasting session on plus a ladies 50% off special so the place was packed. We were still served though in good time and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.Staff are enthusiatic about the place and willing to listen to suggestions or ideas. There is a beer fest coming up on 5th October - definitely going back for that! This was my second visit to this restaurant as the food is so tasty. The chef went out of his way to prepare a special sauce to go with the steak for one of our party who was gluten intolerant and made a point of coming and talking to us after the meal which was nice. There is obviously a lot of pride and thought that goes into the dishes here; especially the Indian ones. I had the Chicken Jalfrezi which was really tasty and comes with plentiful rice. My boyfriend had the Lamb Rogan Josh which he said was packed full of flavour. My only criticism Is that the Indian meals are a bit pricey compared to elsewhere in the city.

We ate here on Mothering Sunday - me, my husband and our fussy 3 year old. Despite my initial concerns that we'd be in for a stressful experience, as is usual with my 3 year old. However, having booked for the early lunchtime sitting, we were able to take our time deciding which of the delicious dishes we'd try first. With all the pressure of having to eat what was given to him removed, my son was excited about trying different dishes. Result? A relaxed, enjoyable meal all round, with the little man trying and enjoying the delicious Indian and English cuisine. Service was attentive without being overbearing; atmosphere relaxed; setting couldn't be faulted - close to the Thames to walk off lunch; price - great value for money. Definitely the best Indian food in Oxford for my money (and the Thai dishes which we had sampled on a previous visit are excellent too). We started with spicy potato cakes with tamarind & yogurt sauce (delightfully authentic Indian street food!) and lightly battered prawn tempura. For the mains I had a tasty sea bass, marinated then cooked in a tandoor oven which had given the skin a wonderfully crisp texture - the accompanying garlic spinach was delicious and a quirky touch was the onion bhaji on top. One of us had a chicken tikka masala which was competently done (although the dish is intrinsically bland ... no wonder it is a British favourite). The vegetarians in our party were well catered for with an excellent saag aloo and a bhindi masala (not oily as it often is) plus a competent moong dal tarka. The accompanying pulao rice was beautifully scented and the naans were good too.The only let down was that the restaurant was nearly empty (there were more people in the bar next door where they do serve the same food). Perhaps this is because the local connoisseurs of Indian food think of it only in terms of a hot "curry" from a Bangaldeshi restaurant ... they should go here to find out what they have been missing out on!

The village of Iffley features not only a Norman Church but a restaurant worthy of a visit. The Annora Restaurant boasts an international cuisine - perfect for couples or families that have different tastes or those who wish to experiment. The staff are attentive, helpful and knowledgeable and do relay the customers' needs back to the kitchen. The atmosphere in the dining room (with its modern artwork) is conducive to a romantic evening for two or for small or large parties who are celebrating a family event. The wine list contains all the usual standards at affordable prices and the odd extravagance for special events.Service is prompt and efficient and there is no pressure on diners to release the table for a second sitting - a bane of modern restaurants. A constant smile of the staff makes it even more comfortable. Thoroughly recommended for a "one-off" visit or for regular visitors to the City of Oxford (4 km away). Guests will not go away from here disappointed.

Booked the Tree as my wife had to attend Oxford Uni for a course and travelling from West Wales for the day would have been a nightmare. The staff at the Tree are very friendly and polite, however we encountered several problems. The room in which we were staying needed a good clean, the curtains had ladybirds and moths on them, the windows were dirty, one was even cracked, one didnt close properly. The carpet at the door edge was loose presenting a trip hazard. The toilet leaked and left a stain beneath the u bend, and the lighting in general was very dim. The mattress had a sizeable lump in it too. We were offered another room but this was much smaller with a much smaller bed. The food was very good quality and cooked nicely, however, we ordered the same main meal and only one was brouight. This we then shared thankfully as it was another 25 minutes before the second one arrived, and, even though it was allegedly the same meal, it was in fact different in several ways.We also noticed other people in the restaraunt had ordered meals and recieved different to that which they had ordered. At breakfast, where there was listed on the menu, a selection of fresh fruit,,,there was no fruit to be seen!!!! For a cheap place to stay with a friendly welcome, then this is it, for a plush place to stay, this it is not..Its more of a Faulty Towers really, I half expected Manuel to bring our second main course, and Basil to appear behind the bar. I wont stay there again. Sadly we were let down. A multitude of minor problems that individually would be nothing, but collectively made the stay far less enjoyable than hoped for. I have stayed at far better, far dearer, also cheaper and had better ..

We had reservations for 7.30pm and after been shown to our table we were given our menu's straight away, but we felt rushed to order,as the staff kept coming back with his ordering pad, after our order was given the waiting time was a little on the long side,we had to ask several times for a jug of water, but once our food was served the staff were very attentive for all the right reasons. Good choice of menu and comfortable seating and nice dining room.

Slightly shabby small hotel but more than made up for by the willing and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble even when they were very busy. The sunday buffet is very good value with a choice of a traditional roast or authentic Indian food and also other nationality food. We would certainly stay there again when in Oxford.

Great location and a beautiful 30 minute walk into Oxford with jigsaw puzzle box views.Booked a family room which was plenty big enough for 3. Shower a bit weak but there was also a bath in the room.Menu looked interesting and the breakfast was superb with a wide range of dishes to choose from, unusual for breakfast, but very welcome as a vegetarian!.Would definitely stay here again, people charming and decor is being updated.

This restaurant is in our neighbourhood and in a nice pub house so we gave it a go. Service was good, with very friendly staff. The wine was nice, too, and we were looking forward to a nice meal to go with it. As a starter we shared "Kai Thod Nam Phueng (new) – crispy fried chicken tossed with spicy honey Sauce". This was a complete disaster: chewy, guewy, reminided us of KFC food rather than lovely refined oriental cuisine. As a main, I had "Belly Of Pork on Bone - served with pickled red cabbage, potato mash, caramelised apples and mustard sauce". It was alright but nothing special, and the apples were definitely not caramelised. My partner had the "Indian Platter – murgh malai kebab, tandoori chicken, lamb sheesh kebab and vegetable samosas, served with salad & dips", which was dry and bland. After this disappointment we decided to have pudding at home! Would definitely not recommend this place until they change both the chef and menu.

When we arrived at the Annora, we received a very warm welcome. The wine we ordered was lovely, and service throughout was friendly. The food, however, was just about the poorest I've had in an Oxford restaurant. I had my doubts about an international cuisine menu, and it seems these doubts were justified. The dishes were ill-conceived, poorly executed and lacked pride in quality. For example, the Indian platter was really just a plate of blandly spiced meat and didn't resemble anything you might get in a half-decent Indian restaurant (let alone in India). Moreover, the dishes were overpriced. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review, as the staff were very nice, but felt compelled to as, for me, the food just wasn't up to scratch.

We went for lunch with 10 colleagues. We had a choice of sitting in the restaurant or the bar area, which is more informal, a little scuffed, but nice enough. There was no-one in the restaurant and as the lunch menu was the same in both, we opted for the bar. It was over 45 mins wait from placing our order to getting the food (with no warning from the staff), which was maybe too long for a lunch service. Forunately, no-one had any complaints about the combination of Indian, Thai and English dishes when they arrived, all of which were very good and very reasonable value for the price.

I can't rate this too highly, the food is imaginative and never disappointing, the service excellent, the staff friendly and courteous. I was rather upset to read of one reviewers experience and rather think it was the customer that had a problem and was nothing to do with the restaurant staff and or service.A Diamond star service and a diamond star rating every time.

Me and my wife had a great dinner in Annora. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great! Altough the place was full, the manager came several times to ask how the food was. A very interesting and unusual selection of food and good beer! The prices are very acceptable and they play some live jazz for free!

A nice restaurant, bar and hotel in a lovely part of Oxford. I can recommend the Iffley area with it's lock and the Thames along with some lovely stone cottages, and a meal in Annora is a good way to round off a visit. Why only 3 stars? Well, I'd give 3.5 if you could as the food and service were of a high quality. As has been said, an interesting mix of English, Thai and Indian food - with enough variety of each to satisfy most tastes. Vegetarian options were quite good too. However, I visited on a Friday lunch time and we were the only ones in the restaurant throughout the meal so there was little atmosphere. There were others dining in the bar area though. Also, my choice of starter and main course were both unavailable, and it took a little long to tell me that, however my second choices were both very nice.Worth a visit, but probably best in the evening unless you just fancy a bar snack.

We have been here before but are always objective.Went on a Tuesday night when it was quite quiet.Have previously been on Saturdays when it is advisable to book. The starters of Tempura batter prawns were melt in the mouth quality. We both had the Thai style king prawn curry with mint pilau rice and a straight pilau rice. This was delicious and accompanied by a crisp white wine. They also do bar meals here with english dishes as well as the thai and indian bar meals which is fairly unique for a bar.A very cosy restaurant and bar with decked seating areas outside in a good sized garden.

I have been writing comments on Tripadvisor for the last few years and unfortunately this is the only negative review I have written on a place I have been to regularly over the last 6 years. However, due to the appalling service and attitude of the manager, I feel I need to warn other customers not to go here. I am a 54 year-old woman, have never been ordered out of a venue before, and hope never to be again. I went to eat at the pub area attached to the restaurant with a friend recently. We had a surly waitress take our order, who snatched the menu from my hand while I was trying to read it. We ordered our food, and while my meal arrived first, my friend's didn't. We waited about 10 minutes and then enquired where my friend's meal was. Another member of the staff went to enquire and I could see at a distance a lot of shouting and gesticulating behind the bar and in the corridor area. Eventually the manager appeared with my friend's meal, and said: It's only been two minutes since I served you your meal' in a tone that was meant to imply that we were complaining unnecessarily. I tried to point out to him that it was nearer 10 minutes and he told me flatly that it was only 2! This denial of time taken went on for another few minutes at which point he told me and my friend to get out of the hotel, threatening to phone the police. This took place in front of at least 10 other people, was extremely embarrassing and upsetting and I hope it never happens to anyone else.

A restaurant in a large pub/hotel. The decor is quite tired and there are some strange smells on entering the bar and restaurant. The tablecloth had soap powder marks. Staff mostly friendly but lackadaisical - forgot one of the dishes, no serving spoons provided. The menu is very varied, Thai, Indian(?) and British and food is above average, seems freshly cooked to order. Good garden, seating but some tables without parasols, bouncy castle. Ladie/disabled loo awful, no soap, cistern constantly running, missing flush mechanism, decor old and dirty.

We visited Annora mainly due to the high rating on Trip Advisor. We decided to eat in the Restaurant rather than the bar, although we were the only peple in there all night, so the atmosphere wasn't great. We decided to choose Thai from the menu as the waiter said there was a Thai chef. The main course was pretty good, bu the desserts were very average, especially the sticky toffee pudding, which wasn't very sticky at all. Given that we only had 1 bottle of house wine andno starters I thought the £60 was pretty steep, I've certainly had much better for the money. Not likely to again as there are plenty of

We went to Annora as it was rated #2 of restaurants in Oxford, second only to Le Manoir. However, it was really disappointing. We went as a couple, for a mid-week evening meal. Arriving at the restaurant there was plenty of parking, and the grounds were nice. We ate in the restaurant, as the bar looked a bit run down. We were the only customers in the restaurant, but this was not an issue, as there was good music playing in the back-ground and the staff were attentive. We both had a Thai main course and English dessert. My fiancé had a prawn-based main, whereas I had duck, with apparently aubergine, of which I found none. To be fair, the mains were average and tasted nice, just not what we were expecting, and certainly nothing to write home about. The sticky toffee pudding was a disappointment, probably not helped by the fact it took less than 3 minutes to arrive after ordering - never a good sign! It was not sticky or gooey as you would expect. My fiancé’s mango soufflé was ok, again nothing special. The service was good, and staff were friendly. 10% service charge was added automatically to the bill and a meal of main with rice/noodles, bottle of house wine & dessert for 2 people would set you back nearly £60!Unfortunately, due to the average food and over-priced menu, we would not go back.

My Partner and I went for dinner at the Tree last week. It was AMAZING. The staff were so polite and friendly and more importantly (for me) the food was delicious. I was always a bit skeptical beause of teh mix in food (Indian, Thai and English) and wondered which chef could manage all three well, but my partner had a thai 3 course meal and I had an Indian one. I cannot rate this place highly enough and will have to go again. The only slight downside if I had to think of one was that it has 2 dining rooms, one formal and one informal and so other diners were split, making it too quite quiet.

Went to this restaurant yesterday because of the good reviews. It had enough parking spaces. Went into the restaurant and sat near the window. Staff were very friendly and always available. I had the Lamb, which was average in taste, the herbs didn't seem to be fresh and on the menu it said it came with pancetta, but in fact was ordinary strips of bacon. Needed a lot of salt and peper as well. Would give the dish a 6 out of 10.My partner can't have garlic and they made a dish especially for her, some fried vegetable with spicy gravy. Good thing is that they give you the bill and ask if you write down some comments, so I did. Then we left the restaurant and the manager came after me. And said the herb were fresh. All in all a good place, mainly because of service and price. But hard to get if you don't have a car and don't take the lamb.

The staff could not have been more helpful in helping me to arrange a works leaving lunch for one of my colleagues. They were more than helpful over the phone and responded quickly via e mail. They allowed us to pre order our food which definatley helps if you are on a tight schedule (ie lunch hour), whilst also accommodating orders from people who were only able to attend at the last minute. We all received our excellent freshly cooked food at the same time. By having a wide and varied menu it was easy to accomodate all tastes.

I found The Annora to be the the best place to eat for me, you can order from the Restaurant Menu and have your meal either in the Bar, Restaurant or in the Garden (weather permiting). The choice of food is superb, to be able to have any combination of Thai , Indian and English food (including vegetarian options) in one meal is great. The menu caters for all tastes. A group of seven of us had a meal on a Saturday evening at the Annora restaurant. The room was beautifully laid out (except the two very modern paintings on the wall did not go with the rest of the decor). The service was excellent and all the staff were polite and helpful. The village of Iffley features not only a Norman Church but a restaurant worthy of a visit. The Annora Restaurant boasts an eclectic mixture of Thai, Indian and Continental dishes - perfect for couples or families that have different tastes or those who wish to experiment. Thoroughly recommended for a "one-off" visit or for regular visitors to the City of Oxford (4 km away). Guests will not go away from here disappointed.
