Anchor Inn in New Forest

Disappointed with the food. I had bang bang chicken burger, tomato and rocket had seen better days, fries came out raw and chicken burger was soggy. My partner had fish and chips was ok nothing special.

Finally got a response from the anchor about my visit last April (2023) 2 days ago(feb 2024). They asked if we would give them a second chance, there was no apologies not offer to make it right and worst of all it took 10 months to get round to responding. So like there Sunday lunch there reply was bland, tasteless and complete waste of time and they should not have bothered.

had a lovely three course meal for our valentine’s day this evening was out of this world ,highly recommend going to this pub Kirsty and the team were amazing.

A busy Sunday lunchtime, but they managed to squeeze us in and even accommodated us going outside and then back in again! Our pizza (duck and hoisin) was fantastic and we were really pleased that we decided to pop in on the off chance. Highly recommended.

What a lovely evening for our work do. Kirsty, Julia, the chef and their team couldn’t have been more accommodating or welcoming. The pizzas are amazing. Chilli oil too! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere warm and friendly. We will definitely return! Thank you.

Having looked at their website the actual experience was very disappointing. It claims to serve "Gastro Food", but the actual menu bore no resemblance to the website. However the food I had was very good. My overall opinion of the pub may have been influenced by the weather on a cold grey, mid-week day in January. But it was cold inside, the table was clean but sticky, and because it was empty lacked atmosphere. The staff were very friendly.

Just popped in for a pint. Enjoyable experience, fire was on and comfortable sofa.

Popped in for lunch and had a really lovely meal. Pizzas were great, and fish and chips was amazing. Really friendly staff and very cosy atmosphere.

I really can't fault the Anchor at all. Fantastic food, professional friendly staff, a wonderful setting, and live entertainment. Highly recommended the Anchor at eling.

We just popped in for a roast on Sunday, and left around 9pm! All the staff are very friendly and polite, and the decor was cosy and welcoming. The menu was not to daunting, just a well balanced and thought out range that has something for everyone, and was cooked and served professionally and with a sense of care. The roast has to be without doubt the best pub roast I've eaten, and I now want to try other items on the menu just because every plate that came out of the kitchen looked so good. Also Sunday afternoons the anchor has live entertainment, this particular day was Elton john/ Neil diamond, this was very entertaining and created a party atmosphere. It felt like we were invited to family party by wonderful people. 10 out of 10 guys and see again soon.

Been a few times now for lunch and each time it has been great. Good service, lovely food and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Had a nice update in the time since I worked there, repaint and upkeep. Dining pods outside are apparently very nice, the menu is brilliant, and it looks great for the holiday season with extra lights and decorations up. Staff are still top-notch too!

Visited a few times for lunch over the past 18 months. The team here are continually improving their game. Yesterday's meal for 4 was devoured. Katsu Curry, fresh mussels and toasted baguettes for those who'd eaten breakfast 😉 Great prices, service and friendly staff.

Rented a dome. It was a lovely get together with friends. Food was amazing

Our regular end of walk watering hole. Park in the cemetery car park, complete the board walk and sit with a drink and admire the view. An out of the way pub that can be very lively. Perfect on a hot summets day.

Always a great meal in the Anchor. Fast friendly service. Come and give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing roast, great veg selection. Beef fell apart and was fab. Thoroughly recommend.

I came with family just when the doors opened at 11am. We took hot chocolates and coffees. All the tables were reserved for the afternoon event. Wished we could have stayed. The decor seemed very cosy and staff was friendly. Especially since my mum forgot her handbag. They kindly kept it for us.

Great spot by the quay for a beer. Warm welcoming atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Will be back soon!!

Was a great pub until I was jumped by 2 men in august (not related to pub) but when police spoke to pub about cctv or witnesses they were told no cctv or witnesses although the landlords husband was stood watching all from back main door of the pub and cameras are clearly visible all round.. can't trust a pub that sides like that with its locals. And they 💯 use same mop and bucket for toilets and bar area with same water 🤮🤢.

Had a meal here for my husband 60th birthday yesterday 30th September 2023 for approx 20 people Food was amazing, staff amazing and the service amazing.

well what can i say!! Saturday i had a table book for 25 of us for my dad 60th birthday meal. Kirstie and her team made everyone very welcome to the pub it was very family / friendly always feel welcome when i come to my local pub and the food taste amazing from starters to dessert.

arranged my father in-laws 60th birthday here, everyone who attended was so pleased with the quality of food and drinks thank you so much to the staff who was their and catered to the group of us. would highly recommend!

Have visited the Anchor pub quite a few times recently and to be honest, it’s a pretty awesome pub! Atmosphere has been excellent and busy (which is nice to see these days) on each visit. The pub looks great! Keeping the feel of a traditional pub yet allowing it to feel modern too. A live band is played almost every Sunday afternoon which is great fun. The staff all seem extremely friendly. One member of staff in particular named Luke was extra helpful and extremely nice and chatty and poured a great Guinness. I highly recommend visiting this pub if you’re in the area.

Lovely location, food cooked fresh, staff very good, always friendly atmosphere. Live music occasionally certainly makes the Anchor a good choice for a good evening out or a lovely afternoon overlooking the harbour. Still yet to try the pods so with winter approaching it is something we will try. Highly recommended 👍

Came in for lunch today. Was greeted with smiles from the guy behind the bar. Had a meal with my family, food came out quick, hot and delicious. Great atmosphere, very nice location, well priced, clean and very pleasant staff. Would give 6 stars if I could.

Came for a few drinks with the better half. The pub is in a great setting on the harbour and the beer was great. Luke looked after us and made sure we had our drinks topped up throughout the night with some great recommendations

Stopped in totton to visit friends and decided to venture to the anchor for a bite to eat and a drink. Was very enjoyable and the atmosphere was great. Nice busy garden with a great view of all the boats. Plus dog friendly so out doggo was happy with her bowl of water and a fw chips. Off of my plate.

This feels like a locals pub that is trying too hard to be a gastro pub. The food was good and, weirdly, there was just too much of it i.e. it felt like we were presented with a bowl of the leftover olives. A massive pile of crushed new potatoes that tasted amazing, but the quantity was daunting. The atmosphere was grim, locals playing darts and shouting and swearing at each other across the bar ruined the eating experience.

Good quality food, but very pricey for portion sizes. (£8.50 for a small piece of toffee pudding and half a scoop of ice cream, for example.) At these prices I'd expect real condiments not no-name sachets from the cash and carry.

Great place to eat and drink after crabbing

Would be zero stars if that was an option. After seating us and giving us menus (and paying for drinks), they decided they couldn't cope with a table of 6 adults and a couple of children, despite it being half empty. Would have been polite to tell us beforehand.

We just popped in with our 9 week old son and they were so accommodating. The staff were all so kind and welcoming, even reserving us a table with plenty of space for our pushchair. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Perfect location for a walk after dinner!

While spending the weekend in Totton, we booked a table here for 2. Friendly staff who were very welcoming. Great food and great service A nice friendly pub. Just a shame that the weather wasn’t nice, as the outside area looked lovely to sit outside. Would recommend a visit.

Went for the dome experience. From entry to departure, was faultless. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Stunning views on the waterside. Great menu choices. We opted for varied roast dinners that were available. Freshly cooked, delicious. Even had great live band on to accompany the meal. Service was exemplary. Great service with an excellent view

I really wanted to love this pub. It's in a beautiful setting and the menu looked really inviting so we earmarked it for a future visit. We went for dinner mid week and I have to say, the food was lovely. It was very tasty and there were lots of choices on the menu. The reason why the review isn't higher is that it wasn't exactly a welcoming atmosphere. The impression given was that the bar staff weren't exactly thrilled that we wanted to order food so early (it was 18.45) and were slightly brusque in how they spoke to us. Their attitude towards the locals was better. Not sure if we went on an off day for them! In summary, food great, service less good.

Nice costal pub only criticism i would have is no normal coke/pepsi only the non sugar variety which I feel is takes away your choice , if it's because of health reasons then why serve alcoholic drinks ? Apart from that nice location.

Loved the Lillies pina colada cider here, it just goes down far too easily. When I visited there was a music band playing here which were really good. Haven't tried the food yet but that'll be the next thing when I come back here.

A couple of hand pumps, doom bar and 49er. Plenty of seating inside and outside with views of Ealing marinas and wider rest estuary.

Friday night dinner for two was excellent! Superb food and great service. Will definitely be back again! We had said and pork belly bites as starters and they were amazing!!!!!

Very friendly staff, a warm atmosphere and a lovely view. We had the house specially of Moules Mariniere. A large serving and very delicious. Dessert was equally delicious.

Lovely friendly welcome as we entered the premises. Had a few drinks and some friendly chat with staff and other customers. We both ordered the bang bang chicken stir fry with peanut satay. This dish was one of the best meals I have had. Really well presented and tasted amazing. I really would return every night and eat that again and again. I highly recommend the food here. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and fantastic bang bang chicken stir fry. Please don’t ever remove that dish from the menu !! We will be back again soon for more.

Good food, good location for a beer on the waterfront with the sun shining and the domes make it unique, theyre perfect for a more private experience. Local live bands play on a Sunday afternoon which adds to the fun. Dog friendly.

We hired a pod in the garden. Beautiful. Comes with a doorbell to call for service and a Bluetooth speaker to play your own music. The food was excellent. Not your average pub. It's definitely a cut above.

Brilliant place. Fabulous food. Lovely staff. Eling is a sweet vibrant village with the Tidemill and the oldest toll Bridge in the country. Well worth a visit

We hired a Dome for our Granddaughter's 21st Birthday, it was a great experience, with fine food and helpful staff

came to the anchor last night for a couple of drinks and was hoping for some food as well,but because the pods were full, we were told the kitchen had to close early and so was no longer taking any orders (this was around 6pm). I can understand where they were coming from maybe they didn't have enough staff/food but there were about 12 people in total spread between both pods-do you not have the facility to cook for more than 12 people?

This is a beautiful pub the staff are friendly and helpful. We order 3 lamb Sunday lunches, what could be easier ? But with out fear this was the worst Sunday lunch i have ever had, if i had not been the guest i would have return the food. The lamb was so tough the potatoes were jacket potato's that had been cut and reused as roasts, veg was soo over cooked and look will it had been in the kitchen since last Sunday. the only thing that was fresh and enjoyable was the Yorkshire pudding . The whole meal and 5 drink come to £85 and was worst than a wetherspoons on a bad bad day.

Lovely pub with great atmosphere and service. We had lunch in one of domes by the water front and it was lovely. Food was delicious, the portion sizes for adults and kid's meals were plenty. The staff were great and welcoming, we'll definitely be going back.

Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere inside the venue gave more restaurant vibes than pub although there is still a large well stocked bar and one comfortable sofa. Lots of outdoor space so it would be great in warmer weather to sit out and enjoy views over the water. The food was ok. On this visit I only wanted a light meal / late lunch (I visited late afternoon and had previously really enjoyed a sandwich lunch here so was looking forward to similar) and was disappointed to be told that sandwiches and lighter fare (the lunch menu) were not available. I settled for a burger in the end as the lightest option on the dinner menu and found it to be rather average. I would probably go back for an early lunch or an evening dinner but would avoid for food later in the afternoon due to the menu restrictions I encountered on this visit.

Popped in with friends for a birthday the other week. Food was awesome, service great and I recommend the domes for a special occasion too. Thanks for making the birthday extra special.

Just popped in for a coffee and asked to look at the menu for a possible future visit. The menu looked so good we decided to stay and have dinner. What we had was excellent, service and staff were brilliant too. We will definitely be back again!!!

I found this pub ( the anchor ) , clean welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Sitting by the open fire moreso. Great place to visit. BUT NOT DISABLE FRIENDLY.

We had a dome booked for New Year's Eve, which was so lovely. It was nicely done up, lights, speakers, heaters and a beautiful table laid out. The food was outstanding, everything was cooked to perfection. We had the best service from George, who was super efficient despite having to weave his way through a big crowd to wait on the domes outside. We will definitely be returning, thanks to the chef for excellent food and great service from George.

Looking at the menu one can assume that lots of the ingredients are fresh. Sea bass was tasty. Kids chicken nuggets tasted ‘not fake’ according to the specialists xD Nice selection of real ales and good customer service.
