I booked a table of 7 for my birthday yesterday. All the food we had was lovely (it's unusual for not one to be picky and have a complaint) We could hear each over talk, although my grandad decided not to put new batteries in his hearing aid! The service was great. The lads were enthusiastic and accommodating. Putting a candle in my crumble was really cute! We will be back, thank you!

Went here for dinner on my birthday with my partner. I had a spicy chicken linguine and my partner had sizzling chicken fajitas. Both dishes tasted amazing and the presentation of the food was lovely. The pub holds a great atmosphere and the service from staff was wonderful. Really enjoyed my meal here and will definitely come back in the future. :)

No eran comestibles (y voy a comer cualquier cosa normalmente).

We purchased what were described as garlic dough balls. They were inedible (& I'll eat anything normally). They were really hard & dry like lumps of tasteless rubber. My grandson (who is autistic and these were purchased for) was really upset. When we spoke very nicely to the staff we were told these were like genuine Chinese dough balls & basically, tough luck. Now I have worked in both China & Korea and they would never serve disgusting food like that. Shame on you, firstly for serving poor food & secondly, for such awful customer service.

A very friendly atmosphere, with a mix of locals and visitors. A choice of sitting inside or outside. We opted for outside so that we could watch the water activities. My daughter and I both chose spicy chicken and tomato linguine, and it was amazing! Fresh ingredients and flavours. The balsamic dressing really added to the dish. While we were waiting for our meal we watched other meals being delivered; all looking amazing and smelling delicious! We will definitely be back again!

4 adults for dinner on a Friday evening. I have been here regularly for drinks as a great spot to sit outside and look at the sea and have been often told to try the food as they have a good fish selection and the menu was very good. We were very disappointed though as limited fresh fish options and very much a standard pub menu. We had some drinks ( altogether about 9 pints of beer, 2 glasses of wine, 2 G&Ts, a coffee throughout the evening. 1 x Burger described as 'very nice', 1 x chicken pasta (Served with no chicken in it - had to go back - then the embarrassing wait etc), gluten free pizza (no spinach and 2 of the other toppings were also not available - I then constructed my own), nicoise type salad (not great). The staff tried hard (I did buy them both a drink and gave a £10 tip for their efforts) but the food just isn't up to it at all. Bear in mind the burger was £16+, the GF pizza and salad £15ish. The total bill was £163, so they are charging restaurant prices for basic pub quality food. We were disappointed as we had been looking to try it for a while, but will not return. Our friends described it as a Fawlty Towers experience. Great pub for drinks and a packet of crisps, but unless the menu changes and standards improve, or they reduce prices and have a more pub menu, I can't see much repeat trade from non locals.

Stop here a couple of weeks back and had mother with me. It was a Sunday (very busy) and only wanted a drink and no food. The range of ales seemed good. Mum had a large glass of wine. I should have taken it back as the glass was filthy. The bar was wet from drinks, I know it was busy but do the small things well and often then everything else follows. We couldn't sit at the bar as mum can't reach the tall stools so found somewhere in the restaurant. The food coming out looked and smelt lovely. I then noticed the disabled toilets were inaccessible as there was a table of 6 blocking it so had to use the standard loos, thankfully I'm not yet in a wheelchair. There was an area for live music...were looking forward to it. Oh my dear God. It was awful. Far too loud for a small area and painfully so. Mum and I are deaf in one ear and it was painful. Sadly we abandoned our drinks and left. Management and the band should have done a sound check as I'm sure any decible monitoring would have been off the scale and they weren't good either. A disappointment, don't think we'll go back.

Finally got a response from the anchor about my visit last April (2023) 2 days ago(feb 2024). They asked if we would give them a second chance, there was no apologies not offer to make it right and worst of all it took 10 months to get round to responding. So like there Sunday lunch there reply was bland, tasteless and complete waste of time and they should not have bothered.

Booked a pod for my engagement, upon arrival both outdoor pods were full up, spoke to the bar staff and they informed me that they double booked, a pod was £50 to book not including the food, and they said that they could not refund me as the booking company for the pods are a separate enterprise and they did not see any of the money, told me to get in contact with them for a refund, the telephone number for the pod service hangs up on you after an automated message and the online enquiry/complaint form does not contain the anchor inn restaurant as a listing option, down £50, but most importantly this was around 7:30 on a saturday evening, everywhere else had been booked up, and baby sitters do not come around very often, completely ruined the evening over being unable to properly operate a booking system. I may add they did offer me a space in the restaurant, however i did not book the restaurant for the food but more so for the pod dining experience as the mrs is not too keen on seafood and wanted something special for our engagement. Will never be returning here again.

Having looked at their website the actual experience was very disappointing. It claims to serve "Gastro Food", but the actual menu bore no resemblance to the website. However the food I had was very good. My overall opinion of the pub may have been influenced by the weather on a cold grey, mid-week day in January. But it was cold inside, the table was clean but sticky, and because it was empty lacked atmosphere. The staff were very friendly.

We just popped in for a roast on Sunday, and left around 9pm! All the staff are very friendly and polite, and the decor was cosy and welcoming. The menu was not to daunting, just a well balanced and thought out range that has something for everyone, and was cooked and served professionally and with a sense of care. The roast has to be without doubt the best pub roast I've eaten, and I now want to try other items on the menu just because every plate that came out of the kitchen looked so good. Also Sunday afternoons the anchor has live entertainment, this particular day was Elton john/ Neil diamond, this was very entertaining and created a party atmosphere. It felt like we were invited to family party by wonderful people. 10 out of 10 guys and see again soon.

This feels like a locals pub that is trying too hard to be a gastro pub. The food was good and, weirdly, there was just too much of it i.e. it felt like we were presented with a bowl of the leftover olives. A massive pile of crushed new potatoes that tasted amazing, but the quantity was daunting. The atmosphere was grim, locals playing darts and shouting and swearing at each other across the bar ruined the eating experience.

I really wanted to love this pub. It's in a beautiful setting and the menu looked really inviting so we earmarked it for a future visit. We went for dinner mid week and I have to say, the food was lovely. It was very tasty and there were lots of choices on the menu. The reason why the review isn't higher is that it wasn't exactly a welcoming atmosphere. The impression given was that the bar staff weren't exactly thrilled that we wanted to order food so early (it was 18.45) and were slightly brusque in how they spoke to us. Their attitude towards the locals was better. Not sure if we went on an off day for them! In summary, food great, service less good.

We had gone for a roast dinner with my 1.5 year old daughter, which was a lovely roast. Unfortunately at the end of our lunch my daughter was finishing her peas when she started to choke on them. I could not thank your employee Josh enough for his help. He came straight over the second he realised something was wrong and offered his help right away. He then called an ambulance and stayed with us until he left, constantly checking on us and offering to get things for us. Thank you so much Josh for helping us in that scary moment and I hope his efforts will be appreciated.
