Four of us stopped here for a hearty breakfast before embarking on a day of ale and Als Diner served up a great stomach liner. Although not the most aesthetically pleasing, AL’s Diner cooks basic ingredients to perfection. Poached eggs were a winner and we recommend the boxing ring special, crumpets on a breakfast works a treat. Nice service. A solid 4 star establishment.

Was looking for somewhere nearby where I could get some lunch fairly swiftly during the week and read a few positive reviews for Al's diner here and on FB. They were both very friendly and my small breakfast included two bacon, egg, sausage, beans, hash brown, four halves of toast and a cuppa. It was plenty of grub, served within five to ten minutes and so nice I went back the next day for exactly the same :-)

We visited this cafe completely by accident. We had started out very early, pre breakfast. So with 2 children and 3 hungry adults we arrived at what we now know as Al's Diner. At first glance on pulling into the area we thought the sign for 'Cafe Open' was an old sign that hadn't been removed. Thankfully that wasn't the case. Absolutely clean, spacious area, indoor and outdoor eating area, loads of parking spaces. Food was cooked to order, catered for the children so you don't have to stick to the menu. Lovely friendly people. The place started filling up whilst we were there so it must be popular with local people; a hidden gem, hopefully not for too long. Looks like there is some work going on, erecting framework for some type of buildings surrounding the cafe. Don't let that put you off.

Called in here when we went for a walk along the coastal path. Was very curtly told they stop taking food orders at 2.45pm, granted it was a few minutes before that time but wouldn’t take a food order, wouldn’t let us have Quiche from the display cabinet but reluctantly let us have a couple of pieces of cake, which was served to our table in 2 brown paper bags. Then brought food out for the table next to us on plates. In summary, not very welcoming and tbh quite a rude attitude. Won’t bother next time we walk there..

We were out walking on a Friday afternoon and scurried into this community café because it had started to rain. We had dressed for moderately wet weather, but the wind was in our faces and thus better avoided. Besides the chance to have a sit-down, and a coffee, was too good to ignore. The community café here in Lyde Green is housed in the community centre and, being well-after lunch-time, it was not too busy. We ordered two medium sized Americano Coffee’s with hot milk from the pleasant waitress at the servery. The coffee arrived promptly and it was acceptably hot, but sadly it was not very strong. It lacked the rich bitter flavours that we particularly like when we have a coffee out. The cost was £2.75 per medium-sized cup, so it was about the going rate, but other local cafés provide a better, and stronger, cup of coffee.

Fantastic, ordered party food for 50, portion sizes were really generous, quality of the food was really good! When we discussed our needs ordering, it was suggested that we order less than originally planned. That was helpful on our wallet and from the 29 trays of food we initially thought was still too much, we ended the party with just 3 with various leftovers. Will not hesitate to use again in the future. Well done the sandwich shop! 👍

Fairly good food but let down by the cheap sausages and dry potatoes. Very unfriendly staff though so will avoid in future.
