Overpriced and dreadful scones. Not much selection of savoury dishes so opted for a fruit scone. It was very dry and crumbly. Couldn’t really eat it as just broke up in to crumbs. Soup was very expensive.

Came for some lunch when we were visiting Lyme Park for the afternoon. There was plenty to choose from - soup, sandwiches, cakes etc. All tasted nice but it was expensive especially for a family of 5!

Dispensed from a machine it was so weak it was tasteless and you have to pay for extra shots apparently. We also wanted a cauliflower pastie but they can’t heat them for you. So overall not a good experience sadly

The cappuccino was very weak, the total cost of this and some food (flapjack and Victoria sandwich cake) was £8.70, and the floor was dirty.

We stopped for tea in the morning and returned for lunch. The menu was interesting and good value for money. Soup of the day was served with a choice of bread or cheese scone, which was quite tasty. The venison ragout was thick and rich. The portions were just right for a lunch time treat. Thanks for great service with a smile and good wholesome food.

A very interesting setting and lots of home made hot food. Reasonable prices. It was very busy over lunch time, you may have to wait.

We came across the cafe while doing the ‘behind the scenes tour’ because it goes past the cafe. The servants hall cafe was busy so we tried Ales which was quiet. The cafe is through a door after the toilets in the main house. Unless you knew it was there you probably wouldn’t go past the toilets. You need to wait to be seated, which we were promptly. We chose hot drinks with cakes. All enjoyed. Service and attentive and friendly

Nice refreshments in the Ale cellar. Had a flat white & others had scones, jam with cream. Everything tasted Ok with standard fare cream etc and jam, but my flat white could have been a touch hotter

We visited here at the end of our day and as it happens very near to it closing at 3.30pm. We waited to be seated as per the board but as it wasn't busy and the lad wiping down tables next to us refused to catch our eye we seated ourselves and then he bought menus saying he hadn't seen us. Not sure whether it was table service or order at the till, my husband went to order at the till. We had Victoria sponge and Lemon verbena scone plus tea which he paid for at the time of ordering. Both were very acceptable. Whilst we were eating the café closed but that didn't stop the stream of people still trying to get in. They seemed unable to advertise the fact they were closed and as it's a walk from the courtyard, this was some journey for those with pushchairs and an old lady with a stick. On departure we were challenged at the door by the girl from the till asking us if we'd paid - she had served my husband. Not very impressive.

We ate here while we were visiting the NT estate. We found it by mistake and are glad that we did. The food was more of a lite bite, bowl of soup or venison casserole rather than a banquet. The staff were plentiful and friendly and the service was prompt. Our food arrived after a short wait given that there was barely an empty seat in the place. It is not the cheapest, the casserole was £8.95 and the soup was £5.95 but it tasted very good so in my opinion was worth while.

We went through Lyme Park as part of a circular walk on a very wintry February day. Cold, and with muddy boots we called in at the Ale cellar for a hot drink and a scone with jam and cream. The service was efficient and the staff friendly and welcoming. Drinks and food were good, and the price seemed about average for what we had.We will definitely go back hopefully in the summer to check out the house and gardens.

The food was goo and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and quick with our order. The cafe itself was nice with ample seating.

Before we explored the gardens and house my daughter and I had lunch with was good value for money £20 for both which was pit if tea each , sandwich & salad and a pudding too. Local produce from the tenant farmers like the Bramley Apple's in my apple and rhubarb and custard , good size portions too my daughter had a cream tea we needed a walk around the gardens once finished. Cheshire cheese and homemade chutney sandwiches were just lovely too .

Not a patch on what it used to be before the revamp. Menu is boring, interior is cool, staff untrained and can;t cope with busy place. We come regularly don't really know why, because the best is the park!!

We came for our breakfast and as expected we both enjoyed it. Wetherspoons food is always good which is why we keep using them. We both had different breakfasts but both loved them as usual. It's a pleasure to have it made for you. Well done guys, we will be back I'm sure.

Parked in what we thought was the free pub car park, received a parking fine for £100 one week later. We arrived when it was pitch black and due to COVID restrictions couldn't leave our table once we were seated. Hence, we didn't have a clue we had to pay to park. The staff didn't mention it to us at any point. Strange considering how many terrible reviews they're getting for the exact same reason? Why oh why.

Charles is amazing, such a gent. Gave great advice to us as we had no clue where to start with our planters. Also, helped take our purchases to the car. I can’t give enough praise for this place.

Mid week the Harrow had plenty of space to accommodate an impromptu family gathering. I know that at weekends it’s really advised to reserve a table. We’ve been coming to this pub pretty much all our lives, but was impressed by the upgrades and expansion. The menu was interesting and didn’t disappoint. The service from Shane was awesome. They have some great offers and discounts online so that diners of all budgets can enjoy it. Definitely putting this back on my “visits Home” itinerary.
