Lovely tea rooms by the canal. Sandwiches, panini, cakes, icecream all delicious. It's tiny but has upstairs space too. Outside tables and chairs in the garden area very popular with families and dog walkers. Overall very nice. The toilet seat and the bin in the one communal loo look like a health hazard and need replacing however.

This is a lovely little gem located on a pretty section of the canal. We cycled along the canal path from Calcot for breakfast. Two cooked breakfasts and a very large pot of tea, which was refilled for free cost £23.50. Reasonably priced and good quality ingredients. Staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. Tea served in a china cup was a lovely touch. Will definitely return for a cream tea.

Warm welcome, delicious soup of the day, home made roasted parsnip, and I could smell an amazing chocolate cake cooking in the kitchen, so tempting. Wonderful walks east and west along the canal. Easy parking, what a find!

We stopped here while out for a hike, due to construction it was not as easy to reach from the trail as it normally would be. We enjoyed a scone with cream/jam and an espresso in the garden. A peaceful/restful spot to relax.

We stopped here this morning whilst walking from Newbury to Reading. After ten miles of walking it was a welcomed stop. We had bacon rolls, hot chocolate and flapjacks The staff and manager were the ones. Friendly, helpful and welcoming Food and drink were delicious. Can’t wait to come back and sit in the garden in the summer.

Four of us went for a walk along the canal and hoped it would be open. It was, on dull Sunday afternoon. Been there before and it's a nice, cosy little place. Garry (the proprietor?) is friendly and chatty as the place emptied later in the afternoon.

We live locally and love coming here for breakfast. We always have the “boater’s breakfast” - bacon, sausage, fried egg, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans, hash brown and a slice of toast. With a pot of loose leaf tea for 2, it’s fifteen very well spent quid. There is more than enough food for us but you can also order the “full” breakfast, which I think is basically two of everything plus black pudding. You’d certainly be very full afterwards! If you don’t like one of the included items, make sure you mention it and you’ll happily be offered a substitution. Breakfast is served until 12 at the weekends and later during the week, when they open slightly later. The tea rooms have a Facebook page where you can check opening & closing times if you are planning a visit. (Apart from bank holidays, the team room is closed on Mondays, as well as on Tuesday. At the moment, they are also opening on Wednesdays during the summer holiday.)

We visited this place twice in one day! Arrived at midday and had a yummy breakfast then did a 6 mile walk around Padworth and Sulhampstead, that can be found on iFootpath. We then arrived back here a few hours later and had tea and scones, proper tea... and really yummy warm scones. We will definitely be back here soon!

My wife and I stopped here for a tea. They hadn’t bothered to cut the grass in the seating area, the water tap area for dogs was blocked leaving a massive puddle. Then when we went to leave I took our rubbish including some stuff from our lunch (sandwich box and a cpl of bottles) to the bin to only be told I couldn’t put it in their bin as they have to pay for their rubbish to be removed. I find this pedantic beyond belief, rather condescending and overall just short sighted to not allow a plastic bag of rubbish to go into your bin. I’m a local and because of this they’ve now lost out on my business forever.

I visited here today with my 91 year old Mum to give her a trip out. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but we got a lovely welcome when we arrived, and after a short wheelchair push along the towpath ( which Mum loved) we had a light lunch. I thought the place was charming, the location great, the two staff on duty very warm and friendly, the lunch really tasty and great value, so all in all it was a really happy outing.

I visited here after messaging the Tea Room through Facebook as I wanted to take my elderly Nan out for lunch. They quickly confirmed the parking arrangement for me and if there were any steps for her to consider. As we were using the Tea Room the parking was free. Given the location I can understand why the owners need to apply parking rules on their land. 50p for an hour.

i visited the tea room with my mum on 29th July 2017, we were gong to a wedding. We were going to be late because we could not get a taxi so we went to get directions from the tea room. The owner was excellent, he saw we were stressed.he made us a lovely cup of tea.then took us to the venue. It was really good of him we would of missed the wedding if not. The service was fantastic, the tea refreshing and the view of the canal was wonderful. Thank you very much.

Such a pretty little place nestled alongside the canal. We promised ourselves a stop there after a leisurely Sunday walk by the canal. Drinks and ice creams were very fairly priced. We enjoyed them in a pretty garden and enjoyed watching barges and Narrowboats going past. Children, families, bikers and couples all sat around doing much the same thing. It was perfect.

This is by far the best tea rooms I have been to! Me and my friends enjoyed lovely sandwiches, cream teas and cakes after a gentle stroll along the canal. We were welcomed by a fantastic, friendly couple whose staff were also very polite and friendly. Was a rather busy day for them at the tea rooms, but they seemed to have it all under control. Incredible to see how the lady in the kitchen operates in such a small place, hats off to her! Beautiful place, will be making this a regular tradition!!

We were able to sit in the garden and keep an eye on our bikes, which were parked in three cycle stands. We enjoyed toasties and tea/coffee. Reasonable prices. It's a good spot for a cafe but it's a shame there isn't more of a sense of pride in the place as everything, including the garden, loo, interior, is slightly shabby and uncared for. Still, I suppose if this happened then the place would be heaving and maybe somewhat spoilt.

We waited half an hour for our hot drinks to arrive. A couple sat near us asked how much longer their drink would be, The owner was somewhat short saying' I told you it would be a while'. It seems they cancelled the order and were given are refund. However as they walked off the owner could be heard complaining about them.

Drive here especially following hearing good things but they were firstly late opening leaving a poor waitress waiting outside for a good 20 mins, owners completely ignored us upon entering and were not welcoming at all. I Facebook messaged the day before to check parking and wasn't told that it's cash payment only so ended up leaving with a hungry 1 year old! Lessons in customer service clearly needed. Also not buggy friendly unless you want to sit outside.

Made the unfortunate mistake of parking here on a Sunday for afternoon tea and a walk by the canal. The tea rooms were closed so for we went to a 5 minute walk along the canal. When we returned a "gentleman' from the tea rooms shouted at us very aggressively for having parked without paying. It was a genuine mistake on our part but the man still tried to charge us £10 for parking for 5 minutes on a Sunday. In the end he let us off but not before scaring the living daylights out of us. Beware of the Bulldog...

An old lock keeper's cottage turned into a welcoming cafe, serving walkers, cyclists, passers by and the residents of local narrow boats / barges. Their sizeable breakfast is called A Boater and it will fill you up for a long walk along the canal towpath just at the bottom of the garden. A great place to stop in winter for warming bowl of homemade soup or in summer with seating outside to enjoy your ice cram or cream tea.

Our family visit included a 2-month old baby and a 90-year old. To arrive shortly after they opened on a Sunday morning to find the place still being opened up and no heating on was a shame. Even after being there for about 90 minutes we all still had our coats on. I'm sure during warmer weather it would've been lovely!

On a sunny Sunday morning there is nothing better than sitting outside by the canal at this lovely venue. The tea is loose leaf and comes with a china cups and saucers, and tea strainer. (The old fashioned way) The food is cakes or sandwiches of choice or panninis or a delicious "Canalmans Breakfast", very filling. Ice creams and cold drinks served too. On a cooler day there is seating inside downstairs and upstairs. A small car park .

Our grandsons come to stay most holidays and we brought them for a wander down to the canal. All very exciting as the road rises to let the boats through, there is also a lock so they could see what happens and then the treat of the tearooms. There is a variety of food here and also ice creams. Well worth a visit.

Lovely sunny garden with plenty of seating and shade. Excellent varied menu from which I chose the smoked salmon and then a ribeye steak. My partner had pigeon and then monk fish all of which arrived piping hot and was very tasty - we cleared our plates! Definitely would recommend this pub both for a drink and for food. The garden is lovely, they are dog friendly and the interior has had a stylish makeover which makes sitting inside a pleasure

A great place for a Sunday roast. The teepee out the back is huge (at least the size of the pub itself) and well worth taking a look at if not having a drink or two in it in very comfortable seats/sofas. There are two large screens in there to watch sport and on a match night would be a great atmosphere.

I came here late on a Friday with a bunch of (around 30) colleagues from a circus production company. The place only had 1 member of staff serving as they had sent the others home because it was quiet (prior to our arrival). Have to say that the guys serving us dealt with the sudden influx of theatre folk brilliantly. Everyone had an excellent few hours here and the cocktails were ace.
