Was later than original stated, but on time once adjusted

Food took over 1 1/2 hours snd was dry and I’ve cold when it arrived

To be fair, we’ve had good meals from Akbar in the past and we like that they don’t use plastic containers, but this was awful. To begin with, it was late - despite making the order nearly three hours in advance. The quality was also poor (chicken Pasansa, Rezala Chicken and Saag Paneer). All dishes were really bland. Hard to see us ordering from here again. Such a shame.

Great presentation, rest was ok but lacking in flavour.

Paneer tikka masala is so sweet, I ended up eaying with mango pickle, samosa is good though

Food was watery with very dry chicken. Ordered 4 popadums only received 1. Rang them about late order, polite enough but very average food. Not for me.....

Food arrived early, piping hot and delicious as always. Lamb Madras was tender and full of flavour and you have to try the King prawn purée. Yum. My favourite Indian by a mile.

Very disappointed with the food tonight. We always order the same thing from Akbar because we know exactly what we're getting. Unfortunately tonight we didn't get what we were expecting. The tikka masala had a completely different taste and was spicy. The lamb curry also had a very different taste which wasn't nice and the samosas had no taste at all. Not sure what happened tonight at Akbar but you need to have a word with the chef!

I ordered a lamb pathia which is what I always get… but I was sent something completely different?! It was coconut based which a Pathia definitely isn’t! - rice seems cheap and over cooked and the poppadoms over cooked and brown!

Ordered lamb Parthia and have used this restaurant lots in the past then stopped as quality was reduced- this was in no way a lamb pathia light orange sauce- 6 pieces of lamb. Going to try a completely different take away next time

Decent mixed grill starter & curry, tasty & good amount & quality of meat. Arrived within the quoted time which I appreciate. I did order a keema naan but was sent a peshwari naan. Marks down for that but I would order again.

Not the best takeaway - the naan bread was very dry and the paneer masala had an odd texture.

I also want to say that we really appreciate the drivers who are always dressed smart in shirts , very professional . You don’t see it much these days. Thank you again

THE BEST curry in Kingston Fresh, freshly cooked, delicious, honestly faultless

Good solid local curry house. Reasonable prices, good food, reliable quick delivery. Can’t go far wrong with anything on the menu, always tasty and hot.

We order from Akbar regularly and each time the food is absolutely delicious. Delivered promptly with a smile. All staff are courteous and friendly.

Nothing wrong with the flavour or quality of the food, but it seems that there is a new chef as our regular dishes tasted different and were not the same as they were a few weeks ago. As I said, nothing wrong, very tasty, but a little more spicy and different to the usual expected flavours. We prefer Akbar over any other in KT2 for value and the best tikka masala. We will choose them again despite the slight unexpected change.

A tasty, well prepared meal, delivered promptly. Certainly, our preferred Indian restaurant to eat in or takeaway, in Kingston.

We absolutely love the delicious food from this restaurant. There is always a decent quantity of meat and the sauces are mouth watering and not overly spicy or salty. Friendly service too!

Cartons were sqashed therefore Liquid leaked into bottom of the bag! Nan Bread Cold! Popodom smashed to bits. Driver puzzled by me giving a Tip????. I do this with every driver who delivers in rain or shine and my Grandson is a Delivery driver. Did he think I was demeaning him? Finally, will NOT be ordering from Akbar again.

Consistently late having used them several times in hope it was just the weekend or weather. Food can be ok on a good day, but more often let down for their inconsistency and unpredictability.

Small, intimate restaurant, looks to be family run but may be wrong. Food was amazing, had all the usual dishes you would expect but the specials were different. I jad one and it was excellent. Staff were friendly and reasonably priced!

We order an Indian takeaway pretty much every week, but recently our usual plan closed down. We've since tried a couple of new places, and I think Akbar Tandoori may be able to fill the void. Their menu is good, as are the prices. They delivered on time - a pre-set time, which sounds easy, but so many places still deliver late or even early (which is equally annoying when you're putting your kids to bed and knowing your food is now drying up in the oven). The food was really good, and they also included a couple of extra dips that we hadn't asked for. We were very impressed, and if they maintain this standard, they will certainly have new regular customers!

Honestly, Food was not that great, roti was dry and uncooked seemed like I was eating uncooked dough, chicken was a tasteless, glad that I asked for some salt and black paper and the guy got some chili's instead blackpeper. It was not a good experience apart from the delivery guy being friendly..

Best Indian food in Kingston by a mile - also lovely to eat in the restaurant with a nice wine selection. I direct anyone here who’s craving Indian food, it’s amazingly priced, hot and delicious every time.

Didn’t enjoy the set meal . The prawn pathia was too oily and didn’t taste same as in previous occ. a little disappointed . Portions and gravy was great .

Wasnt the best today at all - Food took over an hour, naan bread was to burnt to eat.. korma wasnt nice at all. My family was very disappointed.

Love the food from Akbar never disappointed

The food used to be amazing and really good portion sizes, the delivery was always earlier than expected and there was absolutely nothing to complain. We got used to order from them at least twice a week but everything changed a few months ago, the quality is not the same, the portion sizes almost halved and it is not a surprise if the delivery gets delayed and your food arrives cold. An absolute shame since it was by far my favourite Indian restaurant.

Really enjoyed the food. The tandoori chicken was especially great, cooked perfectly by also has so much flavour. First time here and I shall definitely come back as I've been looking for a good Indian restaurant around this area for over 6 years and found none. I'll be back

Food was great especially for the incredibly reasonable cost. No complaints there. Unfortunately it was very late although the restaurant did call me to tell it would be and gave me 2 free cans of coke!

Wrong curry delivered rang to resolve and was told it is not the normal chef- ordered a lamb pathia and got a weird watery lamb korma with loads of coconut. No new curry offered just apparently a free curry next order

To put it succinctly, this was without any shadow of a doubt the best Tikka Masala I have ever eaten. Absolutely incredible, massive respect to the chefs!

Didn’t enjoy the prawn puri the bread was soggy in the same box , the meat Goa was tasty though the meat was over cooked . Enjoyed the King Prawn was truly a Good meaty size . A little disappointed w the Peshwari NaN ss the coconut filling was rather dry and didn’t include any raisins . The pilau rice was satisfactory .

We ordered our food for 8:15pm because we were out. The food arrived at 7:55 and had to be left with a neighbour. It was cold when we ate it.

We use this restaurant regularly and have had no problems with it (unlike other kingston takeaways). Food is always hot and tasty.

We have been regulars here for a Takeaway for 3 years, and it's delicious. Having grown up in Tooting with a multitude of curry houses, Akbar is certainly up there and we'd highly recommend. The food is always hot, fresh and flavoursome. I usually have half tandoor chicken (which is huge) and recently been ordering the king prawns, and they certainly give you plenty. The pershwari naan is the best we've ever had. It's massive, enough for 2 people, we look forward to it so much. And all for less than £20! We get 2 mains, share a rice and naan, value for money and especially in an expensive town like Kingston!

Naan too stodgy & no spice to keema, chicken tikka starter good and beat element. King Prawn main very disappointing. Wouldn’t have again. Too sweet, lacks by in taste & far too many big chunks of undercooked veg especially tomato & onion to bulk out the dish. Not for me and overrated I’m afraid.

Food was ok. Dansak and a madras which had pretty much the same sauce and flavour except for the thickness of the dansak. They did taste decent tho. The prawn puri was tasteless and hardly any of it. Also when I collected the food I asked the kitchen to confirm the dansak came with rice as stated on the menu. They said it did but when I got home there was no rice. I’m sure just an oversight but still disappointing. At least I still had a decent pashwari naan to eat with the sauce

This is a gem of an Indian cuisine. All dishes prepared fresh. Staff very courteous and helpful. Delivery is made very promptly. Our best Indian experience in Kingston.

My order was over 20 minutes late. After calling to find out where order was I was told it would be 20 minutes longer. 40 minutes later i called again to be told it should already be with me. 20 minutes later it arrived cold. All in all it was 1 hr and 20 minutes late. 😡

The food came on time but the drivers phone had died and he asked a passerby to call me so that I could come downstairs to pick it up (this is what I had asked, as we had a sleeping baby) - would have been nice if he could come under my building instead of making me walk to the nearby stores. We had high hopes from this restaurant given the good reviews here but sadly were left very disappointed. The only things I would recommend are aloo gobhi and rogan josh was also ok. Everything else was not edible & butter chicken had absolutely no taste. The raita didn’t even have the spices it’s supposed to have - they had basically put yogurt with some chopped cucumbers! I had to add the spices myself to make it taste good. Paneer tikka masala was ok & Tandoori chicken was way too salty. I liked the peshawari nan but that’s the only item I’d reorder from this place. My husband is İndian and has said we are never ordering from this place again. If they hire a new Indian cook I’d give them another chance but unfortunately we were left extremely disappointed with yesterday’s dinner.

Always a fantastic curry; our go to curry for the weekend treat!

The food left the restaurant at 8:03pm, by 8:20pm it hadn't arrived even though I live a minute's drive away, 2 maximum. I called the restaurant and they said the driver had other orders to deliver first. Food arrived at 8:28pm, cold! Near to freezing outside and they're driving around for 25mins with my food. To add to that, I ordered a keema naan and a garlic naan but they sent 2 garlic naans!

The late delivery was partly my fault as should have mentioned on the order that I live in the hospital site. The food was great and would highly recommended to anyone

This has happened a couple of times now, I would prefer it if they just adapted the eta to take longer when you first order. The guy who I spoke to on the phone was rude, such a shame as the food is quite nice
