Akash Lounge in Wakefield

No longer akash lounge. Has changed hands twice since under “viceroy” and isn’t very nice at all. Very mediocre food but and not licences

I was looking for a good curry whilst working up in Pontefract and came across this place thanks to TripAdvisor. The chicken tikka was different to your typical Bangladeshi curry house but much more authentic (trust me, I lived in India for 3 years). The madras was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spice, and the garlic was rice was nice and 'garlicky'. I came on a Wednesday and utilised the special menu which is excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Will be back soon for sure

Well. Where to start? Firstly the service was tasty, the food was absolutely very tasty so very tasty. The music was absolutely smack daddy. Felt like solardo was playing a set. I will be returning. I recommend the Bombay potato’s if you want a 10/10 taste that is very affordable. The guy who waiters is an absolute G, my man what a guy. Really great. Took our own drinks so very cheap overall. I only regret one thing and that’s not bringing cold drinks, although they have ice. Tesco where to start with you. I am absolutely fuming I had to accompany my food with a warm super dock in a warm beer glass. God bless the queen. Also I wish I wore different trainers although these are quite comfy (adidas ozweegos). On to spoons now to get mashed. Tasty. BOSH

If they were giving their food away I wouldn’t go back This was Indian food where it was evident that they looked to limit the amount of meat in the dishes Who wants to go to a restaurant where they cut corners on quality and nature of the ingredients ? Never had a sizzler as a starter that included battered ‘iceland’ type food that had obviously come out of a freezer. Rest of pretty meagre & quite a bit non meat. ( onion Bhaji in a sizzler?) Naans thin & dry, loads of rice (I assume to offset so little meat) Curry average & my friend had something in his that he couldn’t recognise as meat or vegetable They had a £14 special on that night, any starter, any main plus rice or naan. I said to the waiter to serve usual food and not the ‘budget’ curry & if necessary we’d pay extra But we got the budget curry & paid extra Had only two bottles of red wine in the restaurant Frankly find the other reviews very positive food quite bizarre - went in at 7.25pm on a Thursday night & it was completely empty. We were on a golf trip so had got a taxi there, so couldn’t really not go in (with such positive reviews how could we go wrong)

Before you go work out the cost 3 times they have added extra £20 food is ok but not worth the hassle stay away I won’t go back

Food was excellent, service second to none. Have had a few takeaways since moving to the area. Will be eating in the restaurant very soon

Aiming to try different Indian restaurants. First time here. Poppadoms and starters were lovely. Partner really enjoyed the mixed hot starter. Mains were as described, fresh tasting and meat beautifully tender. Slight downside was the garlic naan, bit pale and raw garlic taste, but I think it's just personal preference. The waiter was attentive but left you to enjoy your meal and didn't feel rushed. Definitely will go back.

Good service with a smile as always. Food delicious ,lovely and clean, prompt service. Never had any issues and this is about half a dozen times we have visited would highly recommend. Always ask for the hotest curry and I'm never disappointed x

After having so many disappointing meals in South Yorkshire we have discovered this gem. Absolutely divine food. Prawn on puri is the best ever and chicken shaslick is outstanding. Lovely clean restaurant with welcoming staff. Love it.

When I ordered my meal I asked for a starter and main and ordered a garlic chipati instead of a naan, I rang the restaurant and explained my mistake and they sent one round free off charge, first class service and my food was amazing....

Hadn't been out for a curry in a while due to Covid but was well worth it. Food was delicious and fresh on every course. They didn't have my usual dish on the menu but were willing to accomodate and didn't disappoint. Service was fantastic...

Fist time booking here but so glad we did. Food was beautiful ordered lots of different things and everything was done done to perfection. the staff were really friendly and it was very clean and staff were wiping tables and sanitising everything. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be booking again.

Ordered here first time as usual closed and 2nd choice busy. A fair bit expensive for take out compared to others. We ordered the same we have elsewhere, minus the onion bahgee as forgot and it was £10 dearer! That’s after they knocked £3 off! Makhani chicken was lovely but the chicken tikka was horrid and never seen it that colour in all the years I’ve been ordering it - like 30 as it’s the only dish I like but not for me from here. Salad bag was pitiful, naan dry and rice wasn’t great and small portions. Disappointing / don’t mind paying a bit more for nice food but this wasn’t and was so much more expensive too. Unfortunately we won’t order takeout from here again :-(

We came for a mid week meal as a Birthday treat for my friend. The service was great and the food was amazing we both enjoyed our meal it was one of the best curriesI have had for years. The restaurant is clean and cheery.I have brought a take a way menu home with me to treat myself again soon.

Wow. Totally blown away. First time I’ve been here and can not understand why. Lovely clean and modern decor. Proper spacing during these crazy times as well. We were greeted by the very friendly Ali. Food arrived quickly and boy what food it was. Very tasty, succulent meats and large portions. Excellent rice and naan. What’s more there are many dishes on the menu I’ve not tried before. So were I needing an excuse to return then that would be it. But I don’t, the quality of good alone makes a return imperative. And it’s very reasonably priced to boot. Very highly recommended.

No, we didn't head for the pub on 4th July. We went to the Akash Lounge for our first post lockdown meal out.As usual the food was really good and the owner and staff very helpful and friendly.The tables have been sensibly spaced and everything was very clean.We shall return.

Great delivery service, and their amazing Indian food is as good as always. The menu is excellent with plenty of choice for everyone. We frequently visit this restaurant as it’s a great place to go. We will see you again after lockdown, but in the meantime thanks for keeping the deliveries going! Highly recommended

My boyfriend went here on Wednesday night and said how nice it was so i just had to try it, we ordered last night and it was beautiful. The staff were very welcoming when we went to collect and very polite. I would 100% recommend this place.

Ordered a meal online (with a 10% discount, which I'm sure should have been 15%) to take away. The service was very good and the food was fantastic. The staff were very helpful.

We usually order take away from here but decided to stay and eat in for a change. We were not disappointed. The 1st time was a Thursday evening with just me and my daughter. The restaurant was quiet but that did not put us off. The food was impeccable and the service was great. I enjoyed it so much that I brought my husband for a meal on a Wednesday a couple of weeks later. They offer a meal deal on sundays and Wednesday. This was equally as good as the meal we had before and the portion size did not change at all even though you pay a lower price. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough and will be going back soon.
