I highly recommend it; the food is always lovely. In fact, I am waiting for delivery right now. I used to order from another Gosforth Indian restaurant, but I will always go to AHAD from now on.

Great little Indian. Would recommend

The best Indian restaurant in the northeast. the food is amazingly tasty and the waiters are so friendly. We love Indian food. We tried so many Indian restaurants in all the cities in UK. I say this is definitely in the top 3 in UK. I ordered the heritage lamb tonight and it is amazing. The lamb is very tender and the sauce is full of flavours. My daughter ordered the king prawn dish. She loved it too.

We have been coming here for years and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are brilliant, great with the kids. The food is delicious, authentic and fresh. The meat is tender- I recommend the lamb chops and southern Indian curry! We drive for an hour to get here and cannot recommend it enough as no other place comes close in terms of quality and taste.

Visited with a group of friends. We'd been before, and it has always been good previously. Unfortunately, things were different this time. The staff were unfriendly, verging on being rude. We ordered poppadoms to begin with. These were OK, but for five of us, the quantity of pickles provided was laughable, probably just enough for two people. A few of us had onion bahjis for our starters. They were huge! Far too much for a starter and they were very oily. There was a lot of oil left on the plate afterwards. We all ordered different main courses. I can't remember what mine was called, but the description implied that the dish was fairly mild..... it most definitely wasn't. It was ridiculously hot!!! Everyone else said that there's was the same, none of us enjoyed or finished our meals. During the meal some of us ordered more drinks, these were brought but no empties were taken from the table. When the table was eventually cleared the waiter didn't walk around the table collecting the crockery, he leaned over us all gathering it up, in the process very nearly poked me in the eye with the handful of dirty cutlery he has in his hand. Totally clueless about the etiquette of waiting on tables. Would I return..? Not a chance!!

Terrible service no salad. No flavour with chicken chaat. No salad with chicken tikka main had to go back to get it and with no apology. Portion very little. If you want proper quality with good price go to new new bengal so much better only reason I didn't go as was closed. Wouldn't be going back!!!

The Ahad Tandoori used to be a very good restaurant years ago. Something has gone wrong in the kitchen more recently. My ‘Average’ rating is generous. On the plus side, the sundries of rice, pappadoms, naans etc. were all perfectly good and the service (takeaway) was very courteous. The main dishes however, were a different matter. Of the five main dishes ordered, two were OK but three were absolutely not. The latter were apparently a ‘Chef’s special’ lamb balti; the worst balti ever experienced anywhere with some questionably tough ‘lamb’. A Chicken Dopiaza which looked and tasted like no other Dopiaza, ever, and last but not least, a Chicken Tikka Massala. The TKM was more like a Korma or Pasanda in taste and texture with an over the top dollop of red food dye. Overall then, it’s a gamble. There are some decidedly dodgy dishes being lashed up and deemed fit enough for takeaway. They are not. Authenticity matters.

Fantastic food with great atmosphere.

Requested a table away from doors , offered a table in front of the main door !! first mistake. menus were placed on the table with no welcoming what so ever.Drinks Requested, served no pleasantries at all .Food ok ,asked for more yoghurt dip , never arrived, nobody asked if everything was to our satisfaction! Asked for the sweet menu,told there isn't one only ice cream,!!! We had tea/ coffee. then hot wipes in a basket were actually dumped rather loudly on the table. We were all rather gobsmacked!! We are 4 elderly people who have enjoyed indian food for over 50 years . This is the most impersonal restaurant we have ever been to and would never go back .!!!!!!!!

The Ahad is at its all time best right now. Fantastic food, service and value. Would recommend this place without hesitation. Keep up the great work guys.

After years of trying to find the perfect Indian takeaway, at last god has shown me the light. Tonight we had our 6/7th takeaway from Ahad’s, all I can say is it was as good tonight as it was the first time, absolutely stunning food. The measure of any takeaway or restaurant is consistency, Ahad’s does this, the food the service are second to none. I defy anyone to find fault.

Great place for a relaxing meal with colleagues. Food was okay but tasted very smokey as did my colleague who had a different dish. The atmosphere and service was great so will probably go back again but definitely ask about the smokey food.

19 of us went on the 30th December and the staff were superbly organised and friendly. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had Chicken Chat as a starter and King Prawn Bhuna for a main, washed down with a few lagers. Very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed. Everyone had a great time and I wish to thank the staff for being so patient, friendly and extremely well organised. Above all, I wish to thank them for the fabulous food.

Food was nice when it came to the table, very long wait times

The Ahad has been consistently good over the years but more recently its been outstanding. The quality of the food is superb and the staff are really friendly. It's hands down the best Indian restaurant in the area and I'm tempted to say the best I've been to in Newcastle & North Tyneside..

Once again the Ahad did not disappoint. Excellent food served by cheery staff who attend to every whim you have. Excellent restaurant that delivers year after year.

We used to love this restaurant but haven’t been for a few years, we were disappointed all night; they forgot starters, brought the wrong mains, never offered us more drinks, the standard of the food was poor and not very hot. My curry arrived and it was full of large chunks of garlic but I hadn’t ordered the garlic chicken - the food was spiced but not flavourful- potions small and bland. Back to new new we go as they never disappoint like this.

Welcomed as a long lost son...mostly because my bestie is a regular. Drinks & poppadoms arrived swiftly. Before the starters and delicious main courses. Followed by more drinks. Smashed the hottest lamb chops I've had the pleasure of in my life. Definitely be a return customer now my wife has my recommendation.

This is the third time we have visited this restaurant – we enjoyed our first meal – albeit the service was not great and we had high hopes – unfortunately we will not be going back. Some of the dishes are very good others very average. Portion sizes are on the small side. On our last 2 visits the service has deteriorated and when things start to get busy it is very clear the staff cannot cope. You have to request everything – if they notice you. They are not proactive at all and seemed to us that they appear to prioritise take aways ahead of table service. They always manage to get the first round of drinks out as guests arrive but it all slows down thereafter. They are also very slow even when trying to get the bill. They are not great value – a starter for one 2 mains a couple of side dishes with a couple of drinks each was almost £80.00 not great

5 stars is possibly a tiny bit generous, but the food here is very good and seems authentic. Portions were good. The sauces in the pickle tray were plentiful and very tasty! We opted for the Ahad special starter for 2 and that was nice and was enhanced by the sauces from the pickle tray. On to the mains the curries were probably spicier than normal which was great as I like my food very spicy. The chefs special rice was exemplary and the Garlic Nann was great too. The staff were very friendly, but perhaps they could have been a tiny bit more attentive, but I'd take friendly staff every time. Atmosphere was good as was the decor, but catered for a slightly older clientele. Overall a great meal!

5* Review Had a delivery that was just amazing. A family evening meal that was as good in price as it was in taste. Quoted an hour for deliver but turned up early and super hot. Without a doubt the best tasting Indian meal in Newcastle that we have tried, and we have tried a lot. This will be our go to from now on. Amazing delicate and complex flavours with just the right portion size. We could not make up up minds which was the best dish so we had to settle on the butter chicken, chicken bhirina and naans. As ever ordered too much rice. As I am writing the review my favourite was the sag aloo. It surprised me with a spicy kick, but OMG it was good. I did share it out evenly, honest! Just thinking about when to have our next delivery.

A friend booked the restaurant for 8pm. 15 minutes later, we were still sitting next to the counter waiting for a table. We were ignored, not provided with menus to look at whilst we waited, nor offered drinks. When my friend pointed this out to staff, the response was simply that they were busy. Surely you don't take bookings if you can't provide a service? The manager's tone came across as being condescending and unpleasant and, given the previous slow service experienced at Ahad, we left. We enjoyed friendly, efficient service and excellent food at the New New Bengal up the road.

A hidden gem in Gosforth. Food was awesome. Only complaint... I asked for king prawns and they served me chicken. Cooked beautifully though!

Ate here a little while back, wasn't too impressed, but the food wasn't terrible, there are plenty of other options around. The staff were friendly and service was good, plus it's located well at the end of the high street.

We went to Ahad Tandoori for my son's birthday for the first time. He had great time. He wanted me to give 5 stars. If we could give stars out of 10 he says, he would give 9, no, 10. :) Food was very good, service was efficient and friendly. It has a home/calm restaurant atmosphere, great for relaxing time.

Went out for a family meal and had such a great time! The food came out in good time, didn't have to wait long and tasted amazing. Not too spicy but full of flavour. Staff were more than helpful in picking out what to eat. Will definitely be going back.

Had a lovely birthday meal with a group of us 6 friends, ordered the gunpowder chicken for my starter and it was one of the best! the mains were great, especially the tandoori sizzler! staff were very accommodating and service was excellent! worth a visit!

Went with my family for a meal here, the service was excellent and the staff were very polite. What do I say about the food? Oh my days, it was AMAZING! You can tell just by looking at it and tasting it, that it was all freshly made. I will be back for more!

This spot gives extraordinary service and yummy meals. One of my favourite restaurants around town.The rates were reasonable. Highly recommended.

Came in on a busy Saturday without a booking and they managed to fit us in despite a relatively packed house. Lovely staff, service and really nice food, the Railway Lamb is phenomenal! Must recommend!

The food is nice if you can get it. 1.45 hrs later, still waiting outside for a takeaway that we were told would be ready in an hour. Organisation is a joke. Next time I’ll go to the kamal. Update: the food we got was mostly cold and we had someone else’s main in our order. Pista Milan had no pistachios and aloo Gobi had no potatoes. Terrible.

A least we were warm. The heating was on and sitting next to radiator. I had Chicken Sashlik. The chicken smelt burnt, the peppers, onions and tomato all hard as not cooked . The dish had no spicy taste as did the chicken korma did...

Really lovely polite and friendly staff. Efficient service. Our food was delicious and wasn’t full of oily ghee that you sometimes get in Indian restaurants. Also the portion of rice was generous which is a big plus.

Slow service WITHOUT a smile! Our main waiter was very slow, and inattentive although some of the young staff were warm and funny! Although the food was ok when it finally arrived, the heating was off and it was very cold for a restaurant. Finally,...

Ordered a takeaway. Was told one hour. Turned up after one hour. 10 mins became 15, became 20, became 25. Lots of other people in the same situation. Eating in looks fine. But if you value your time, don’t get a takeaway.

Table booked for 7.30pm waited for table when we got table and after we ordered food wasn't delivered till 9.00pm long wait but food was good rated 4star because long wait for food

1st the order was wrang then the what did come was discussing. I have eatern Asian food all over the world. But all l got from Ahad Tandoori was a box of overloaded tasteless curry over boiled food in water absolutely discussedting. As for the Biriani, it was just a bit of rice with old chicken left overs from day before and the sous was again a box of vegetables with no taised. I wouldn't even give this to a drunk person as l don't drink. But please think twice before you spend £32 for food that doesn't even taste or look like Tandoori from this place. So please don't waisted your money even if your drunk. This is not 4 start food.

Staff excellent. Food,what you get of it also excellent. Trouble is I left feeling still hungry and had more to eat when I got home. Never done that before. For the high prices they charge,nearly a fiver for a small bowl of rice,you do expect...

Despite multiple requests to have our food cartons full they arrive with at least a third missing. Very expensive when you consider cartons aren’t even full.

My friend and I were left slight miffed by our experience, especially in contrast to the very positive reviews we had seen to help inform our decision to visit. The restaurant has a nice ambience, it is very clean, tidy, and there is an attention to detail on the table that portrays a professional setting. However, we both found the service to be impersonal, rushed and not as we had hoped from previous reviews. We both enjoyed the poppadoms and spice tray, which had a nice selection of five accompaniments. Although the flavour was nice, it was not as deep and rich as i would have liked. Our mains were served with rice and a peshwari naan, the sides faired better than the mains unfortunately. My paneer rogan josh was lacking in depth of flavour and the paneer was rubbery and had likely not been prepared as it needs to be to avoid this texture. I appreciate paneer can be a hit or miss ingredient, but i have had excellent paneer curries in the past. Overall, a clean and ambient space with a good arrangement of tables - round tables make for welcome socialising, but food was average and service was uncomfortable if not unpleasant.

I'm afraid to say that the food was bland at best, and the service poor. Very rushed and seemed almost annoyed by our orders, very strange. Felt like they were trying to get us out of there ASAP despite the restaurant being quite quiet.

Cracking curry and good atmosphere

Went for our anniversary dinner and it was great. The staff were all on form from start to finish. Was such a nice evening. The food was fantastic and the wine pairings too. What a treat. Highlights were the Blue Grey for me and lobster for my hubby.

You know that feeling when something is just so good you are actually wondering if you are dreaming or not? That’s how I felt when I left. The madras was essentially a work of art. It’s Almost like Van Gough had come back from the dead and taken up cooking. The service was breathtaking, graceful, thoughtful. Like a really beautiful swan on a spring day. As for Aloo Gobi (omg) . Feeling quite emotional writing this. Just get down there. Don’t mess about. Cancel all plans tonight as the boys here are going places. Thank you for making a difference.

Eat here regularly. Never disappoints. Good varied menu. Staff attentive and friendly. Ask for advice if you want to try something different from your usual. Staff are very knowledgeable and will give great suggestions for you to try.

I’ve passed this place so many times as I live only a couple of streets away and the smells have always been tantalising. Ordered a takeaway for 4 of us and collected myself. 2 minute walk home in a hot July evening and put cartons...

Love this place, the food is amazing and the staff are so friendly making you feel right at home, such a comfortable atmosphere, however I think the lighting could be adjusted, it's very bright...but that's me just being picky...
