I come here every time I'm in Basingstoke. I wish it existed in my home town. The food is absolutely delicious. My personal favourite is the tofu stew with fried rice and fries plantains. The puff puffs are also a super yummy dessert option. I'm vegan and there's a bunch of options on the menu.

What a place. We came here for an anniversary meal - we love trying new food and chose this place based on the reviews. Firstly, the location is great, a little off the main Basingstoke thoroughfare close to car parks. The restaurant is small but they haven't crammed it full of tables. It's really nicely laid out, lovely music and good atmosphere. Staff were very attentive, honest and friendly. We were given a window table with a rose on it for the anniversary. A lovely touch. We ordered the chicken stew, the mixed stew (fish, mutton and mushroom) with jollof rice, a side of chicken wings and a side of lamb chops. It didn't take long to arrive and was bursting with flavour. The mutton was a highlight, tasty, with a wonderful texture and very tender. We had some of the local Nigerian beers - Trophy and Star with Trophy being my favourite and the missus preferring the Star. Both were big bottles, chilled and delicious. Finally we finished with the puff-Puffs, which are essentially doughnuts with sauce and topping. They were outstanding. I ate 5. Overall, and for the price, I couldn't recommend it more. What an incredible place to eat. I was gutted to learn it had been here for over two years and I'd only just noticed it. Go there. Enjoy the food. Thank you.

Was shocked they refused to exchange an unopened bottle of water for a smoothie. I did not enjoy the african experience I expected. Will not be visiting there again. 19/10/2024: just saw your response. You lied. How can I ask to swap a drink of lower value for a higher value drink? I was going to pay for it ofcourse. I changed my mind about the drink. Please be truthful. Your response lied again about my asking foe who does the cooking. You are not being truthful.

I’ve stopped by a few times, and the food has always been amazing. They do an excellent job of showcasing both their cuisine and culture. But yesterday, I had an experience that took it to another level. I visited just five minutes before closing, fully expecting to be turned away, but instead, I received a warm and friendly welcome. Despite it being the end of the day and their selection being limited, they still managed to serve me a hearty meal of jollof rice with chicken stew. They even went the extra mile by turning the fryers back on to make some fried plantains for me. To top it off, they threw in a delicious drumstick I hadn’t even ordered. Whether you’re new to Nigerian food or a longtime fan, this is one of the best places to try or enjoy it. Highly recommend!

Honestly, my new favourite restaurant! Had the tofu/mushroom jollof, plantain and chicken wings. Spice level was perfect, everything was delicious and massive portions. If you've not had Nigerian food before I found it's very similar to Caribbean in terms of flavour and spice. Price for main, 2 sides and a large smoothie was less than £20 The vibe in the restaurant is so welcoming that we actually thought they knew our friend! Good music set at a level where you can have a good conversation and still find your foot tapping. Overall a solid 10/10. Try it you won't regret it

I know that Nigerian food is good. However, the food like the meat stew and jollof rice was a let down. It tasted like ready made packet rice and meat stew was the blandest I ever tasted. Not spicy at all and very little spice. Smoothies are watered down. Very overpriced for £15 for a small portion and a watery smoothie. Not worth the price or the taste. First and last time I will get this. But the server was lovely. No issues. Just the food is a massive let down. :(

This was our first time trying Nigerian/African food and we were very impressed. We did not know what to order and sought help from the people working there who were only too glad to give very helpful advice and suggestions. The food on offer is very varied and it is easy to choose something that you will like. Staff - are very helpful and friendly, do feel free to ask for whatever advice you might need Food - the food is all made on premise to authentic recipes - all very varied and delicious Drinks - Afrizi has a good selection of drinks, many from Nigeria - the Nigerian Guinness and Beer is very different and is definitely worth a try. Just be careful because it is also very high in alcohol strength. Food tips - Plantain fries are delicious, the Mutton stew was superb and flavourful, Spicy fried chicken (chicken soya) with salad was superb. There is handy parking nearby and Afrizi offer eat-in and takeaway. Price - is quite reasonable All highly recommended.

Ive had a few things from here before. All nice. Especially the puff puffs. Please try them I’m begging you. The plantain fries are very good too. Seasoned with the spices is better than without. I think the place was impeccably clean, comfortable and cool despite the horridly hot weather outside. The staff were very friendly, including the chef who I believe is the owner. They have almost as many vegetarian options as meat options which was a pleasant surprise. Id say the jollof and chicken drumstick was a bit on the under seasoned and under spiced side. But I expect that they simply tailored their recipe to appeal to a broader market. Their smoothies looked delicious but we opted for some of their imported drinks range. I wish they had more customers! But most people dont venture out of festival place. Hopefully as more top of town initiatives take place, there shall be more foot traffic for this lovely place.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Afriz offers a delightful culinary journey through African cuisine, and my recent visit confirmed its reputation as a hidden gem. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the Jollof Rice paired with Mutton Stew, a combination that showcased the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The Jollof Rice was a vibrant masterpiece, with each grain perfectly cooked and infused with a rich blend of tomatoes, peppers, and spices. The balance of flavors was impeccable, offering a delightful mix of heat and sweetness that kept every bite interesting. Complementing this was the Mutton Stew, which was tender and succulent. The mutton was cooked to perfection, absorbing the robust, savory sauce that boasted layers of aromatic spices and a hint of smokiness. Beyond the food, Afriz excels in creating a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The decor is a tasteful blend of modern and traditional African elements, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that makes it perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Afriz stands out not just for its delicious food but for the entire dining experience. Basingstoke's best kept secret - why you ask? I'm sitting here at my desk eating my leftovers from Afrizi, which we visited over the weekend, and I've just finished my lunch feeling the same way I did this weekend.... Stuffed, content and happy. In the 38 years of my rice eating life, I think this is hand down the best rice I've had! This was my first taste of Nigerian food.... and I like it! Correction, I love it. I ordered the 'Jollof Rice & Plantain' which I think was cooked to perfection. The flavours and textures were perfect for my fussy taste buds. The spiciness levels weren’t too hot either. Just right. It's located just by one of the entrances to the shopping centre and the inviting nature of the interior and staff was gratefully appreciated. Thank you guys. Everything about the experience was AMAZING in Afrizi - ❤️ Nigerian 🇳🇬 Restaurant ❤️ It's worth every single penny. We were in Milestone museum for the half term activities. We are a vegan family of 3. Luckily we came crossed with Afrizi. We love supporting small local businesses and love African beats anyways but we haven’t tried the Nigerian food from the Nigerian hands until then. Friendly and welcoming staff, colourful interior. We had all the vegan options on the menu. My partner and our 2.5 years old baby girl are real picky eaters, both finished their plates, we loved the food. The mentality of the owners is so thoughtful. Serving in the compostable plates, recycling point, it’s just so cool. Gift a tree cards on the tables, it’s a great idea… Tables are all handmade, so unique. Also It was our 4th anniversary, they gifted us white rose, which was really lovely. Finally I will say it was tummy and soul fed experience for us. If I had more stars to give, I would 🌟

This is the second time I will have this terrible experience with Afrizi and their delivery. The first time I ordered food to the hospital and it was dropped, yes I meant dropped in a reception area, the delivery person didn’t even care that it is hospital environment and I did drop a complaint about this and nothing was done by either Afrizi or the delivery company. Today I ordered food worth £35 from Afrizi et Justeat and the order delivered was not complete and it took forever for the food to be delivered and when I called Afrizi they first told me it wasn’t their fault the food was delivered late, I bet it was my fault and about the incomplete order, the guy couldn’t be bothered he told me what he could do was to add it to my next order as if he was doing me a favour, customer service is poor, food quality is terrible, packaging is a sore sight. TBH, when I heard Nigeria restaurant is opening in Basingstoke I was excited, but Afrizi has done nothing but disappoint me every time, I wish they could go back to their drawing board and come back with something better rather than this embarrassment to Nigeria food.

My girlfriend and I have wanted to try Nigerian food for so long, and decided to pop in to have a snack when in Festival Place! It was really empty in there but the staff were really friendly and helpful. There are a good number of tables despite being quite small and tucked away. We shared a medium portion of jollof rice with the fried plantains which was incredible! We're both not the best with spice, though, so if you're the same then definitely be prepared for a bit of a kick (even though it's labelled as mild on the menu! tells you all you need to know about my spice tolerance). Even then, it was delicious and I'm definitely going to try making it at home! Loved the compostable bowls and cutlery. There seemed to be plenty of vegan and veggie options so we'll definitely be returning to try those, too - especially the famed puff puffs!

Lovely food, friendly welcoming staff. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. I would have given 5 stars if the loud music had been turned down as we requested.

I come here often with my two year old son and it’s always a great meal. The puff puffs and hot chocolate are a guaranteed hit as are the jollof rice and plantain. Staff are always friendly and it’s a relaxed atmosphere so enjoyable to come to with young kids.

Was a real pleasure finally getting to try this niche of a restaurant out. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable in explaining all the different dishes on offer. It was also great talking with the owner and talented chef. Afrizi were celebrating their 1 year anniversary on my visit and the staff even offered me some cake to celebrate. I had vegetarian options; the tofu stew, jalloff rice, beans and fried plantain. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, it was spot on and faultless. I really hope more people visit this place and keep the small business going, as the restaurant industry is a challenging one, especially now. There aren’t many gems like this around, I really hope Afrizi keep up the good work and stick around for years to come. Looking forward to my next visit.

Great pub, full of older bikers when we arrived on a Sunday lunch time. Lots of big noisy bikes, but all friendly folk. Not a biker myself but could still appreciate some magnificent machines. Food was simple but tasty and filling, Had beef rib and chips, very nice and good value. A nice pint of ale washed it down.

Driver was lost. He was driving around for like 15min. Texted him but he didn’t see my message. Momos are great but ramen very oily, overcooked noodles and not well seasoned.

If you're looking for a great start to the day you can't beat MrG's full English, awesome. All the produce is really fresh and high quality, really great tasting sausages and bacon.
