Chennai Express in Basingstoke and Deane

We celebrated my birthday at the Chennai Express in Basingstoke and everything was fantastic! The food was incredible and the service from all the staff, in particular 'Ash' was superb. Ash ensured everything was perfect for my birthday. Exceptional food and service - 5 stars just aren't enough to give, they deserve soany more!

Wow, absolutely stunning. I'm a vegan and the selection was superb. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and really appreciated the attentive service from Srinu ( hopefully I haven't got that wrong). Tofu butter masala was excellent, the dosa is also great but be warned, it's massive!!

A great restaurant with delicious food and friendly service! Recommend booking as it can fill up fast. The restaurant has a great selection of vegan options. Ash was our server and was very helpful and lovely to chat to!

In Basingstoke for work and stumbled across this lovely restaurant, food was amazing and staff very professional and polite, prices are reasonable and the portion sizes very good. The pickle tray starter with smaller poppadoms and rice crackers is a great idea, would certainly visit again, thanks

Food not tasty enough. I didn't like it at all when I ordered Poori Bhaji and channa bhatura. Not nice

I can only say, friendly staff, delicious food, very generous portions and extremely well priced. Just the 2 of us, so we didn't book a table, got there just before 6 and took a chance. Seated immediately and served promptly. It soon became really busy, but the staff still kept up the excellent attention to each table. Was a very enjoyable experience. Thankyou Chennai Express-A***

Went as a group of 6. The meal was faultless in terms of service, quality of food, price. Every dish was authentic, presented well and generously portioned. It was a really good meal.

The food was extremely good, tried Masala Dosa and Idli and the dosa was crispy. They could improve on their masala quality though. The wall paintings and ambience matched the cuisine they serve but not the music. I went there nearing their closing time but still they were happy to offer me a seat. Nice experience and will visit again.

Chicken biryani and chicken ghee roast was awesome. And Srinu's service was too good

We have been coming to Chennai Express for many years, and it never fails to impress. The most authentic Indian restaurant in Basingstoke, delicious food and wonderful service. Srinu and the team do a wonderful job, a must visit if you are looking for a quick lunch or evening meal.

Srinu was ace! Amazing food, me and my husband came here for valentines and enjoyed a wonderful vegan feast. The veg Manchurian dry is a stand out. Absolutely top notch food for very reasonable prices - get tha sen down!!!

This is some of the best, not to mention most authentic, South Indian food I have ever tasted in the UK. I arrived here by chance having walked a mile or so in the rain to find the Balti house I had intended to eat at was closed. Initially I was sceptical but I needn't have been, whilst the food might not be your typical "curry house" fayre (which is what I was hankering after) it was very hot, very fresh and the flavours were amazing, added to that the place is spotless and the staff are brilliant. I'm only in Basingstoke for a few days but I'm already considering returning for dinner tomorrow night - it was spectacular! Not forgetting a special mention for Srinu and his team who provided excellent service throughout - thank you!

I cannot explain how much I love to come here. I love your masala dosa. But , Srinu’ one of your employee who served us is absolutely amazing , very very polite and humble . He makes sure you feel like home atmosphere. He is a gem in your restaurant . Very nice .

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience with soul-satisfying food. The service provided by Ashirwad and Srinu was exceptional—they were both extremely kind and helpful in recommending dishes. We tried the Apollo Fish, Tandoori, Chettinad with roti, and the most amazing Fish Ginger Ice Cream. Each dish was outstanding, but the Ginger Ice Cream, in particular, was a delightful surprise! It isn’t prominently highlighted on the menu, but we stumbled upon it by chance, and it was truly worth it—a soulful and unique dessert. ***I wish we would have taken pictures but we were so hungry we just forgot*** Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable culinary experience!

Came with a bunch of work pals. Was fantastic fresh food. All 11 of is were very quiet for about 15 minutes. Nice big portions and we were full on leaving. Lovely staff.

The staff #Srinu #Ashirvad were attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious, each dish bursting with flavour and expertly prepared. I especially loved the chicken 65, Papadum basket, Masala dosa, butter chicken, Naan…which was a standout. The best Indian restaurant in Basingstoke. Visited it on Wednesday evening - it was full of people. The Ash guy is very friendly and nice, helped us to get a table and served us as at Michelin star restaurant.

Best Indian restaurant in the UK. Consistently great authentic Indian cuisine, the street food style starters are amazing! Incredible flavours on tandoori mixed grill. The staff are attentive and friendly especially. Couldn’t recommend the place more.

Chennai express catered for my son’s 1st birthday party and the food was just outstanding. They were very flexible with the delivery of food and the set up. Special mention to chef Siva who did a great job in meeting all our needs and perfecting the menu. Guests loved the food and the spread. Thank you Mr.Sagar for making our birthday party a hit..!! I would highly recommend Chennai express for any parties.
