I was there on Friday and the food was authentic Indian in town.

Nice friendly service and tasty meals

Came to this venue for an office dinner gathering, and the experience that followed was exemplary, beyond expectations, be it the food, or hospitality. Having stayed in Basingstoke for the past 3 years, I can say this place really lacked authentic Indian Restaurant. There have been other Indian restaurant in the town but my personal experience has never been good with them, and always felt like they were enjoying being in monopoly. With Spice and Spirits in Basingstoke, I can say we have new option for the most authentic Indian restaurant. The food here is amazing, and fulfills ones glutton's delight. They have crafted food menu, with delicacies from around India, proving yet again on their choice of menu and real Indian taste with cousines panning from various parts of India. If you are in Basingstoke and looking for the best tasting Indian food, this is the place to go. Feeling hungry just by the memory of my visit while writing this review.

Ordered takeaway. Was not blown away by the food. Too be honest my wife make better vegetarian food...

Food was delectable. Not for a moment we thought we were eating Indian food out of India. The Indian flavours are maintained not tampered with unnecessarily to match local taste. And that's what sets it apart. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced. Spices and Spirits exceeded all our expectations. From the ambiance to the service and, most importantly, the food, everything was on point. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience.

This isn't the first time that I have been here , the Buzz of the restaurant is lovely and the food and the service is great .

First visit here after getting to know that they stand apart and been serving the best. !!Yes yes they are!! It was dinner meet with our office team thought to book this restaurant and they were simply great both food and Service. Special mention about the traditional rich Indian décor which dwells you back to the essence of Indian mood.. We shall visit them very soon.

A Culinary Delight- A memorable Experience! We recently had the pleasure of dining at Spices and spirits Basingstoke and it was an exquisite experience that left us all absolutely delighted. The moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat.. The ambiance at the restaurant is lively. Soft lighting and well thought-out decor which enlightened the perfect mood for our evening. Every dish we ordered was a work of art, both visually and tastefully. Service at Spices and Spirits was brilliant. Can’t wait to return for another unforgettable meal.

Our first visit last Sunday and we will be back again for sure. The food was just beyond compare to other restaurants offering similar cuisine in Basingstoke. Fresh, aromatic and all round delicious!

Have visited this restaurant so many times but have never been disappointed. They have always maintained high standards and lived up to my expectations!!!!!

This restaurant offers an outstanding dining experience with flavorful, well-prepared dishes. The variety on the menu caters to diverse tastes, and every course was perfectly executed. The staff is attentive, friendly, and provides excellent service. I Highly recommended it.

We had booked table for 10 and suddenly 10 more friends expressed their interest to join us. We went to the restaurant without prior notice and although the manager was taken aback as the restaurant was fully booked and we had pre-ordered our food, he quickly took control of the situation. The kitchen staff also equally graciously catered to the increased demand. The food was delicious as usual with no compromise on quality and quantity. We went home satisfied and full, as we always do when we visit Spices and Spirits!!!

I think this is the best Indian restaurant in Basingstoke!! It has great ambiance, good parking space outside, great staff!!! Food was delicious! We ordered lamb chops, punjabi samosas, 3M, Chicken Tikka Lababdaar, Dal Makhni, Garlic Naan & Butter Naan. Everything was delicious!! Best dal makhani in UK! Lamb chops were perfectly cooked. Staff recommended to have Gulab Jamun in dessert and it really was a great decision! Thank you so much for delicious food!!

After lots of people recommended this restaurant to us, we visited last night for my husband’s birthday. The food was amazing, service lovely and atmosphere was perfect. Brilliant date night!

We loved our dining experience at spices and spirits! We were able to book a table last minute which was ideal. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, a cut above the standard Indian restaurant! Would highly recommend the lamb nigiri and the chicken chettinad as well as chicken 65 and lamb sheek kebab starters, the portions are generous enough that we had some to take home and look forward to enjoying it tomorrow! Very homely atmosphere with amazing food! Quite busy most days which is a testament to their consistency in serving delicious food. Nalli Nihari is a new addition which we tried recently and was absolutely great! Definitely recommend :)

Very accommodating, lovely restaurant. Thank you for our great meal this evening. The food was hot, fresh and so tasty. Music is great, atmosphere is relaxing. Appreciate the extra care taken to make a special curry for my partner who has a nut allergy. The curry delicious and we took some home with us. This is the type of service that makes Spices and Spirits stand out.

This is not a standard run of the mill curry house! Its an authentic Indian serving delicious and quite exceptional food - a wealth of flavours and unusual dishes served by a delightful, helpful and attentive team. A real treat !!

What an absolute gem of a place this is. Less than 10 mins away from my place and just on the outskirts of town. The standard of Indian food in this place is second to none. On finding this was my first visit, the waiter suggested I try another lamb dish in case the heat level was too much. He was more concerned about me ruining my meal than me ordering the more expensive dish. As it happens, I found the heat level just right for the dish. I'll still be tempted to up it one more level on my next visit. The level of spicing in the gravy was spot on. Nothing was too overpowering and the lamb itself was melt in your mouth tender. Not an ounce of fat or gristle on any of the meat. My wife's chicken tikka lababdar was superb. Again, the gravy was heavily spiced but you could taste every single element. Both dishes perfectly balanced. The naan breads were perfectly sized for the meal and my chilli and garlic naan had the perfect kick of heat and lashings of garlic. I have seriously not enjoyed an Indian meal as good as this ever. Given I was duty driver tonight, I tried the freshly made (mocktail) orange mojito. Even this was mixed well and just the right amount of sweetness. I had a sip of my wife's margarita and I'd caution you to keep the number of these to a minimum. I seriously considered ditching the car and grabbing a taxi home! It certainly lives up to its name of Spice and Spirits as both were impeccable. If you haven't already visited this restaurant, it's definitely one to add to your list of places you must try. I could find no faults with the meal, drinks or service. Staff were fabulous and I can't wait to go back. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Had a delivery. Rice looked like it was out of a packet, dry bland. Butter chicken had some nice spice, but again, very bland. Everything was bland. Won’t order again.

Visited here on Monday for the first time as I was in the area of Basingstoke celebrating my wedding anniversary.. First impression.A*. Very clean and lovely decor. I'm vegan and the options were plentyful Staff was very welcoming and prices were great. The food was exceptional.. flavour,freshness, quantity and quality.. Absolutely enjoyed every bit of it. Had a bit of a wait but I was not fussed about it because good food with such standards takes time. You can tell a lot about food by the chef's passion. How it was prepared and presented. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to visit again if I'm in Basingstoke. Please please keep up the standards and service of your restaurant..it's very rare in these times. Absolutely great food and service..

My friend and I recently visited Spice and Spirit Restaurant in Basingstoke, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was of the highest standard, and the food was simply delicious. We began our meal with the Samosa Chaat and Chilli Chicken as starters. Both were fantastic, but the Chilli Chicken truly stood out. The freshness of the chicken and the perfect blend of flavors in the sauce were evident in every bite. For our main course, we had the Tandoori Whole Seabass with Garlic Naan and Malabar Chicken Curry accompanied by steamed basmati rice. The presentation of the seabass was top-notch, leaving us in awe. The taste of each dish was exceptional, with generous portions that left us completely satisfied. However, I must emphasize that the hospitality and service were 10/10. We were looked after by Mr. Sumit, who was calm, friendly, and always wore a smile. His gentle and attentive approach made our visit even more enjoyable—kudos to you, Sumit! The other staff member we encountered was equally friendly and welcoming, ensuring that all customers were well taken care of. We concluded our meal with a lovely complimentary Gulab Jamun, courtesy of the Spice and Spirit team—a sweet ending to a perfect evening. I’m thrilled to say that I’ll definitely be a regular here.

It was recommended and exceeded our expectations. Great food, freshly spiced food. Large veggie options. Highly recommended. Returned again and had the best Lamb dish (Nali Gosht) I've had for 30 years.

It's a hidden gem in Basingstoke. The bar is situated next to the entrance, so they welcomed us at the door and let us choose where we wanted to sit. Since it was our first time there, we waited at the table for about 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. After 15 minutes, I noticed that the waiter was not going to any table until called. This was a bit surprising as far as restaurant etiquette goes. We tried their very popular lunch buffet, and I must say it's worth the money. The lunch buffet included vegetable soup, a couple of salads, chaat, samosas, tandoori chicken, fried mushrooms, lasooni chicken curry, fried chicken wings, daal, methi paneer, hing aloo, naan, and gulab jamun. Overall it was a good experience.

Hands down the best Indian food experience in this corner of the country. Don't go if you are looking for generic chicken tikka massala. It's *much* better than that.

Lovely birthday meal for my husband, waiter overheard us say happy birthday and at the end of the meal they delivered a cake and candle to the birthday boy. Lovely food and friendly atmosphere we will definitely be returning.

Writing a well deserved review. It is tucked away locationwise but the food just overtakes everything. The service was excellent- smiling faces from beginning till the end so you guys definitely have a great team . The food was the best Indian I have had for a while. The starter unlike in many other places - of Dahi puri was not soggy at all. I cannot recommend this place highly enough- comparatively pricey for some dishes but it is absolutely worth it !! We will surely be back.

Absolutely fantastic. Excellent service and delicious food. Trust me after a long time i have expereinced a fine dining service. Recommend Butter Chicken which was just perfect and went well with Garlic naan bread.. Was too full to eat deserts but will give it a go next time..

In Basingstoke for 2 nights went here for some dinner after reading several of the reviews. Loved the atmosphere and the food was lovely. Now if you could move closer to home that would be fab. Highly recommended.

The food is not bad. We got a juice for our toddler which was expired and had chunks. It was promptly replaced with an extra drink given on the house. The ambience is very good.

Visited for the 2nd time a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely amazing food. Just beautiful. Everything about this restaurant is fab. Drinks service a little slow to start but that's probably because the restaurant was packed. Am coming back the end of the month. The lamb starter is just yummy! So good. It all is. I cant wait for our next visit.

We went here with family and friends for dinner. The owner is Maharashtrian so we decided to order Chicken Kolhapuri and it did not disappoint at all. Naan and chicken biryani we ordered was really good as well. I was not impressed with chicken wings but veg manchurian was nice. Overall good food on offer.

Mediocre, food was excessively fat, paneer was incredibly tiny.

My husband really liked his one main dish (lamb) but mine were not edible at all. I got butter paneer which consisted of tiny pieces of paneer in a soup of fat (honestly any microwave paneer masala from any supermarket is 1000 times better), Bombay aloo which was inedible - potatoes were sweet for some reason and were swimming in fatty liquid (never tried bombay aloo served like that - we even asked the waiter if it’s definitely the same dish), and the naan that was dipped in cooking oil or was swimming there for a while. Finally, we had a glass of sugar syrup aka Mango Lassi. Almost £70 for this “wonderful” experience. Obviously, felt very unwell the morning after the meal. Would give it 0/10 - hands down the worst meal in years.

Had Peshawari nan and chilli chicken from starters for a takeaway. Service was quick (said 20 minutes) chilli chicken starter was big and tasty =8/10 Peshawari nan was worst I've ever had =2/10. Not sure this restaurant deserves it's reputation. Tried it shortly after it opened and wasn't that impressed then!
