The Meldiz Turkish Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

We were made to feel very welcome in this amazing restaurant. From the moment we arrived, Mercel was the perfect host, helping with choices and pairings. Food was perfect, simply perfect.

The food is feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Beautifully spiced lamb in the Beyti and shish kebab. Very tasty babaganoush. Wonderful food and attentive service.

Very relaxing, staff great, food amazing. Will be back.

Absolutely outstanding!! Mursel was absolutely sensational with our 2 year old toddler who absolutely fell in love with him. The atmosphere was perfect for our party of 6 - the perfect place to bring young children without feeling like they’re an inconvenience. Mursel went above and beyond even climbing out the window so he could take the best photo of our family and helping wheel my Mum’s wheel chair outside at the end of our meal. Our daughter is allergic to dairy and I felt so comfortable that her dietary requirements were being taken so seriously. Mursel even offered to go to the local shop to find a dairy free option for dessert for our daughter. Best restaurant experience since she’s been born by a country mile.

Absolutely worth the trip! We came from two hours away, and it was 100% worth it. Marcel service was outstanding warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout. The food was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully cooked. We had the grilled chicken mixed kebab, Adana, and one of their house specials Chicken Ali Nazik which I highly recommend. To top it off, we were given complimentary tea and mousse, which was such a kind gesture. We truly appreciated the hospitality. So far, this has been the best service we’ve experienced, and now we completely understand why this place has such glowing reviews. To see and taste is to believe! Highly recommended! Thank you.

The food was amazing. One of the best Turkish food I've had near London. Along with great taste and authenticity, every food dish was prepared with the least possible oil and sugar, so I would recommend this place as a diet friendly option. Great service as well.

Food was absolutely incredible, very quite apparently cooked fresh to order. Better than equivalent food eaten in Turkey. Best place place we've found in Basingstoke so far. Went at lunchtime, rather than an evening, so it was nice and quiet..which is what we prefer. The owner was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, we were too busy eating the food to take photos, but highly recommend the Hot Mezze Platter and the Meldiz Special Mix. (The cocktails are fabulous too !)

Just enjoyed a lovely meal with friends at the Meldiz. We shared the hot mezze platter to start, I had mixed shish kebab and we shared baklava for dessert. A great variety on the menu to choose from and it was all very delicious. Friendly staff, would highly recommend.

I visited this restaurantast night and the food was amazing, however the lamb chops was slightly chewy, other than that I would say that our experience was absolutely amazing all the food was flavourful and delicious and they could make small things like rice and salad taste as good as the rest of the food. The owner was very kind and ensured our wonderful experience at MelDiz restaurant.

Avoid . Substandard at best. Very expensive as well. Literally couldn’t eat and had to go home hungry. Wouldn’t recommend waste of money and time.

First went here last November and it was amazing, so decided to go back the weekend just gone 5/4/25 so celebrate our anniversary, and I wish we didn’t. 1st problem was the mocktail, I ordered a Mojito which I regularly order from other restaurants, but what I received was nothing but lemon squash with a few mint leaves, and charged £6.50 for the privilege. Starter was ok but let’s face it you can’t mess up halloumi. My main was the Adana as I had that back in November and it was outstanding, loads of flavour with various spices over it, but this time is was terrible, no flavour, no spices and pretty undercooked, so I barley ate it. And when asked was everything ok, we explained and got nothing but ok I’ll tell the chef, and to top it all off, when we got the bill they had added £10 service charge, which is down right cheeky, if I want to tip I will. Never returning here, waste of money, should of just saved myself £100 and gone Burger King

Really tasty food and warm welcome

Went to the restaurant for a Mother's Day lunch as we felt like a different cuisine. The staff is were friendly and attentive. The food was the best we had in a very long time. Would definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family

Very tasty food, nice serving quiet place

The first time I have been for a very long time. We had the platter starter and everything in it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The mains were equally delicious and we had to take some home as it was so filling. The servers were all very polite and attentive making it a really enjoyable experience.

A very decadent meal with superb service and ambience. Each guest is welcomed like an old friend. Staff are attentive and friendly. The meal we enjoyed was full of flavour, amazing textures, and authentic Turkish food. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Nice Turkish restaurant. With good cold mezze. Main courses are mixed with good moussaka and Adana kebab but overcooked shish. The service is attentive. Atmosphere was quiet, but it was a Monday night. Location is close to Top Of Town with parking nearby.

We came here for our anniversary and were served by Kaan and Mursel. The service was impeccable, the attention to detail of our table and the level of service we received was outstanding. We was surprised at the end of our meal when we were given a free desert which was delicious! The food was incredible and cooked very well! Will definitely be back again.

The food was absolutely incredible—authentic Turkish flavors that transported me straight to Istanbul. The kebabs were perfectly grilled, the lamb tender and juicy, and the spices just right. The mezze platter was a fantastic start, with creamy hummus, And I can’t forget the fresh, fluffy pita Overall, an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Turkish food, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Stumbled upon this restaurant, came for Saturday lunch. We ordered the mixed grill platter for 2 people. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was so juicy and flavourful, not too salty. The rice and the salad that came with the platter complimented the meats very well. The waiter (Murcel) was very kind and easy going. Loved the decor of the restaurant!

Merhkaba! Amazing service and food! Staff absolutely lovely! The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and was very attentive.

This is now our third visit here and we still can’t fault the meals or the service from all of the staff. This occasion was for my daughter’s 20th and they went out of their way to make her night really special.

Our first visit to Meldiz and we we certainly come back. The table service was excellent, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food came out it good time, hot and very well cooked. The presentation and taste were excellent. The best meal our we've had in a while. Highly recommend.

We came from out of town and decided to try here, very glad we did. The best Turkish and Mediterranean food, all of it was good. The lamb kebab was the best we've ever had, moist, tasty and cooked so well.

Called in a quiet Monday night. The restaurant is immaculate and well presented. The food is excellent I had the Sucuk which came with hummus and frsh garlic bread. Followed by mixed kebab which was amazing. Great service to top it all off too. Reasonably priced would highly recommend and will be back soon.
