Lovely service and presentation in comfortable surroundings. Service is good and the staff are pleasant. This has become one of our regular places to meet our friends. The only downside is there is no car park but its usually easy to park on the side street.

The cafe is situated on a very busy main road and quite easy to drive past. Once you get inside you forget about the busy road. Very warm welcome greets you with a daily changing menu. The food is served well, in a timely manner, presented well and very tasty. Good value for money and as for the selection of home made cakes and scones ...

10 minutes to kill, just coffee and cake will do. the new counter person under instruction, not the best time for me to judge, still I order and cake and it is delivered to the table quickly with a smile. I will call again to try more of the menu from what I could see it was excellent. The Lady on the counter said bye, eye contact and a smile, a good sign.

Popped in earlier and picked up a bacon butty. Staff were pleasant enough and the sandwich was lovely. I realised the cafe is connected to a local church which got me thinking...

Lovely warm café after parkrun on a bitterly cold morning. Five different coffees with toasted teacake and cream cake all at very reasonable prices. Friendly staff with a clean comfortable setting.

Too Expensive for what you get. £4.45 for a jacket spud and £3.45 for 1 slice of ham in a sandwich is not the greatest value.

Popped in here again for cuppa and the oh so lovely coffee and walnut cake - so scrummie! Staff are attentive and helpful. Can be busy at lunchtime - I try and avoid 12 till 1 - but always good food and very reasonably priced.

Cafe 139 (don't know why it appears as Afe 139), is a lovely small cafe situated on the Bradford Road out of Brighouse, opposite the Swimming Pool and Police Station. It is run by the local Cornerstone Church, but don't let that put you off, because although is run mainly by volunteers, their standards are very high, and they proudly display the 5 Star Score on the Door rating. Although the menu is limited, the food is really delicious and extremely good value for money. Having eaten here on numerous occasions, I would highly recommend their Bacon Sandwich or their range of Panini, finished off with either a very good cup of coffee or a generous pot of tea, along with a delicious scone. All the cakes are freshly baked and irresistible!

Came to this cafe after being told about it by my Christian group. It was well worth the travel from Leeds. Although run by the local church it is welcoming to all. Food is of an excellent standard with plenty of choice and at an extremely reasonable price. Will certainly come again and recommend to others.

Just been today, with my Wife, Sister and Nephew. We had a good time, the food was exceptionally good. My Nephew liked the fish Sea Bass Filet in that case, my Sister had and myself had the Old Gate burger with chips, my Wife had the Guijon Chicken Burger. The Waiter was not pushing ( specifically with the bill ) at all All in all very good

Disappointing food. Had the haddock and there was a very small piece of fish in a soup of Hollandaise sauce. Half of the mains were not available.

A lovely traditional pub steeped in local history that for the last few years has suffered from a revolving door of short lived landlords without a clue. What a refreshing change then to see that the Hinch' has finally got new landlords (Oct2024) who clearly know how to run a pub. Within a short period of time they have successfully managed to breathe new life into what had become a tired and soulless place to eat and drink. On the two occasions we've been since the Hinch reopened we've been super impressed with the food. In fact the cheese and onion pie might well be the best pie l've tasted in the Calder Valley (or ever!) and the flavourful and plentiful Sunday Roast offering was a cut above your usual pub ‘roast’ offering. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food if you’re looking for somewhere to eat - especially when it comes without the hassle of parking in Hebden Bridge. On each occasion we’ve been, the Hinch was busy with drinkers and diners which is great to see. The trade off is you've only got the choice of Manchester owners JW Lees’ own branded mystery beer offerings. Forget the craft-ale revolution, or the fact that Vocation brewery is literally 5 mins away, the solitary guest beer offering here is San Miguel. I guess you can't have everything, but at least the food and atmosphere more than makes up for it!
