Poor service, received 3 different prices for my order from 3 different members of staff, bizarre. Very expensive for dry, average cakes. Won’t be returning

We have visited for coffee and sandwiches several times now. The staff are friendly and the sandwiches are freshly made, with the best bread ever! We are also usually tempted to buy fabulous cakes in the bakery to take home. Very reasonable prices for fabulous food. This traditional bakery will be a regular stop for us.

The cheese rolls and cheese and lettuce rolls are really gorgeous , nice soft rolls, or hard crusty rolls if you prepare lots of lovely soft grated cheese

Omg.. staff are very friendly and accommodating and they smile and they are polite and just an absolute delight and credit to this establishment. Right now let’s get on to the food. Premium Sausage Roll - best I’ve ever had! Pink iced, cream filled finger bun - best I’ve ever had! Chocolate fresh cream eclair - best I’ve ever had! Advice- get there early on Saturdays to avoid sell out disappointment.

Tucked away at the back of the bakers is a little cafe. We first moved to the town over 40 years ago and I recall going in there then We wanted a quick stop after an optician appointment before we went out for he afternoon and decided to come here. We had lovely crusty filled rolls with freshly made tea and coffee all served with a smile. You are not rushed and we lingered until it was time to go on. Highly recommended

I have been visiting barrows for a couple of years now with my close friends. Every time without fail, the service has been outstanding with smiles all round. Couldn't ask for better as they are all so polite. Even if something has gone wrong, then an alternative will always be suggested. I love the atmosphere with all the photos placed around the cafe area of the 'old Sittingbourne.' It brings back memories for older customers and starts up conversation for many! Shame the old place mats have gone which made many reminisce about the past. It is lovely to see the younger members of staff getting involved and talking to customers confidently as they do. Overall, great service, food and entertainment from the staff! Thank you, we will be back most certainly!

Situated on the High St, there is little competition from independent bakers or cafes. There is a shop at the front with a seating area at the rear. A huge selection of cakes, slices and other sweetmeats are on sale but they also do pies, pasties and other savouries, all beautifully presented. We popped in here and had tea for two and a slice and a bun for just over £6.00. It was of a good standard and we would return.

We came her for a cup of tea and a cake , my daughter chose a cake from the shop and her cake was perfect , I chose a Blueberry bakewell slice from the cabinet in the cafe , It was hard around the edges and dry in the middle but I was told it was meant to be like that , staff that when I queried it , to me it tasted stale & I have eaten a few bakewells in my time. I think they could have at least given me the benefit of the doubt and changed it for a different cake ,as it rather spoiled our visit.

I can't complain about anything here, the best bakery around by far! My roll today was bursting with filling with fresh ingredients! The latte I had was just right for me, I don't like bitter strong coffees unlike well known coffee shop chains do! The staff are always friendly, polite and try to give you what you want! Last visit I wanted a white sub roll - they'd run out but had a tuna sub roll already made up so they just added the extra fillings I wanted! Also forgot they are reasonably priced too!!

If we are in this part of town we often visit Barrows for a coffee. It is an old fashioned bakers shop with tea rooms at the rear, and good old fashioned service. The service is friendly and good. They cannot do too much make sure your coffee and snack(cake, sandwich etc if appropriate) are just what you want. Two coffees cost about £4.00. Good coffee.

After buying at least two white iced ring donuts from the A E Barrows & Sons bakery in Canterbury, almost every day for well over a year, I was disappointed to find that this bakery closed. However, after realising that their Sittingbourne bakery was still in business I decided to drive 35 minutes to buy 6 of the donuts. After living in New York and being generally well travelled, I can honestly say these are the best donuts in the world. So fluffy, light, sweet and scrumptious.

Visited this establishment a number of times over the years. Visited today to find more tables crammed in meaning you were pushed around when sat at the table. Didn't appreciate the number of dirty tables and dirty cups and saucers, plates and traysCoffee was good and the food that I saw coming to the tables looked pretty good tooGiven three stars as I have always liked this place but had this been my first visit today I would bother going back and would have given a lower rating

This is a great little family owned bakery and coffee shop in the Sittingbourne High Street. The coffee shop sits behind the shop front and serves great freshly prepared food on the premises. The staff are friendly and efficient. There is a real relaxed atmosphere and a good place to have morning coffee or lunch.

I went here at least twice a month for years, since I was young. Only recently over the last two years had this wonderful place started falling in the quality of its cakes. It's a shame as it's been going for years.I haven't been back for a long time due to this.

This place has been going years and hardly changed. Still serves cakes and pastries you can buy in the shop as well as other hot treats. This also gets full at certain times of the day, which proves its popularity. A very warm welcome and tasty food.

I think Barrows must be the oldest bakers/cafe in Sittingbourne, I have been going there since 1971 off and on.I would not normally write a review for a cafe, but due to the good level of service that I have recently received, I felt prompted to write. My wife and I, on both our visits had two coffees and a cake to share. On the first visit the coffee was a bit on the weak side. We mentioned this on our second visit and the waitress said "no problem, I'll put another shot of coffee in'. This greatly improved the experience. Good service, although busy, and the waitress took the time to check if our coffees were ok.The cafe has been, tidied up a bit, bur it still has an old world charm, with good service, coffee and cakes. We noticed that the place mats were missing with the old pictures of Sittingbourne printed on them!

The shop on the High Street expands in to a café at the rear. There are wonderful aromas that hit you as soon as you enter the shop. Eye Candy all around you , CAKE and STUFF ! There is an array of refreshments to choose from. Take some time to sit and look around you look at the pictures of times gone by. Look at the place mats for different views. A bit of a treat or just a loaf go on in, you might feel a little like MR BENN.

No other bakery either independent or a supermarket compare to this place. The bread and cakes are fantastic. The only reason I visit the run down High Street is to go to the bank and here. The cafe at the back is nicely and clean with plenty of tables. You do have to pick your time to visit, otherwise you can be the youngest person in there! If I take my toddler it can be a bit of a squeeze with a buggy if it's busy. Lunches are fab, but really I like to go here for coffee and cake I will never understand why Greggs is popular when you've got this lovely bakery just down the road, shame on you Gregg shoppers!

We used to visit Barrows cafeteria regularly, but since its "revamp" the whole atmosphere has been lost. Tables are crammed far too close together, and while the quality of the food remains the same, we feel it is not an inviting place any more. We were there recently, and noticed many dirty trays on tables that were waiting to be cleared. The tables for 2 are very small, and the tray takes up most of the space making it difficult, if not impossible, to place cups, saucers, teapot, plates etc. on the table.Shame - we used to really enjoy this place.

This is the only shop I use in the High Street, Sittingbourne, and apart from using the bank, is the only reason that I visit my "local" town centre, there is no other reason to visit the High Street (Sorry, Sittingbourne but that is how you make me feel - the High Street needs a big shake up)Excellent staff in this cafe/bakery. It appears that they use really good produce, and the baked goods are really top quality. The menu is a little limited, but what they sell is good value for money.A great friendly atmosphere with a quality products.

Great service but outside said last orders 2.30 pm we arrived at 2.15 to discover they stop cooking at 2.10. Had a cuppa though. Would have given more stars if actually able to get food. If times outside were clearer we wouldn’t have stopped and been disappointed …
