Can't say a bad word about this English pub.... Shame it I will get close down soon the rumour says.

O restaurante típico londrino foi meu primeiro Fish and Chips Que comi quando cheguei. Eu amo essa comida e o restaurante é uma gracinha e você faz o pedido pelo aplicativo de tudo que vc deseja e eles trazem. Foi uma experiência maravilhosa. Super recomendo. Estava tudo delicioso.

We popped in for breakfast after coming off the Red Funnel ferry on our way to Essex. Ordered our breakfasts, found the staff to be very friendly & the table we were sat at was very clean. When the breakfast arrived it was well cooked with possibly the best hash browns I've ever had on a wetherspoon breakfast. When we returned from our trip to Essex a few days later we popped in again this time for dinner, me wife & I had steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered & our kids had plenty of food on their kids meals. Again staff were friendly & table was clean. We have made this our regular stop off for food when we travel to Southampton to & from the red funnel ferry.

Congratulations to the "chef" you couldn't have ruined a mixed grill any more! You have obviously been well trained to change meat into jerky. I think as you are so skilled in burning meat you could get a job at the crematorium. It's been a long time since we've eaten here and it will never happen again. The guy that brought my mixed grill couldn't identify which piece of scorched flesh was the lamb. I took the meat home to give the dog a workout. The beer was nice though

It's a Wetherspoons and you know what to expect - cheap, cheerful and tired. Yes this pub is all three but people who visit these establishments should not criticise them for that. Food was very good, twice we have eaten here now and no trouble on that score. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and an added bonus Ocean Village is right next door so the location works too.

Called here for breakfast with the family. On entering the building we were just left standing there, waiting for someone to greet us and show us what to do. We ended up finding our own table whilst the staff stood chatting amongst themselves. I had to break into their conversation to ask if it was table service etc. Was given a dirty look by the older woman who made it seem like I was an inconvenience. The place was nearly empty, so it wasn't as if they didn't have time to greet us etc. Terrible customer service, then when breakfast arrived it was mainly cold. Not a good representation of Wetherspoons, worst one we've ever been to.

Hi I'm very appalled by a certain Shaun who found it disgraceful to pinpoint my friends who were under shelter and it was raining hard and he told us to sit down but didn't go over to the others to tell them the same thing .bullying tactics I think because he wanted a reaction and one of my friends Mark said why don't you tell the others about it and he took the drinks away that we ordered and refused at first to give us our money back or drinks but did give us drinks after but thought it was ok to pinpoint someone who is sticking up for his friend and even a woman barmaid smarmly smiled at my dad to cause problems and said your barred along with Shaun , luckily Sue a person that redeems us as good customers told my dad he's barred in which was quite shocking but needs more customer service based help from the management of this establishment because this is pinpointing certain people and is a class of prejudice so unless something is said that's a good pub who's lost good custom because of one person

A smile and maybe a hello would be nice. I know staff have to apply lockdown / Covid rules but for Gods sake smile.

My last review was blocked so try again. Just avoid this place the staff are rude the managers even worse. When you call out the lack of basic customer service they bar you.

Mi esposa y yo hemos usado este pub de Wetherspoons a menudo en el pasado, pero no lo hemos visitado desde que comenzó el cierre. Visitamos para tomar una copa. Nuevas reglas en vigor, lo cual es comprensible, sin embargo, una señora baja y bastante grande hizo cumplir estas reglas como en una prisión. Esto hizo que la experiencia fuera más desagradable y si no hubiéramos caminado una distancia bajo la lluvia, felizmente hubiéramos dado la vuelta y salimos caminando. Una experiencia terrible y un mal enfoque para alentar a las personas a seguir las nuevas reglas. No regresaremos pronto.

Rated one star would be zero if permitted.Staff unhelpful and arrogant. Very little covid restrictions enforced. Tables dirty,hand sanitizer empty, toilets filthy. Fui a comer algo, en primer lugar sé que es una cadena de Wetherspoons, pero la mayoría están bien. Miré el menú para ver que con las comidas no había papas fritas disponibles, así que elegí 2 parrillas mixtas con papas asadas. Mi compañero y yo vinimos aquí por casualidad el martes por la noche para comer algo, no tuvimos ningún problema para encontrar una mesa y no hicimos el pedido.Era el plan de comer fuera para ayudar y la noche del bistec, por lo que se habían quedado sin bistec y patatas fritas, pero ofrecían alternativas. Conseguimos 2 comidas que llegaron a 10 libras con bebidas y las comidas hicieron lo que tenían que hacer.Es una cuchara, por lo que no es la mejor comida, pero por el precio ciertamente no puedo quejarme.

Husband ordered at bar .Barman didn’t know the menus and said the pasta dish comes with chicken ! It doesn’t .So my meal comes out and gets taken away so as to add the chicken .Server wasn’t helpful .Hubby had steak ,and wished he hadn’t .It wasn’t fit for purpose as it was all gristle .He chewed what he could and spat it out on plate .They really should not be serving such poor quality meat .No point in complaining at all .Very poor .Whilst I know it is a reasonably priced establishment food should indeed be edible ( chewable and swallowable at the very least )

Whilst I understand social distancing and the challenges facing the serving staff (after working in the industry for 8 years) I do not think that is an excuse for rudeness, even after leaving the pub (to follow social guidelines as I couldn't sit at the table with my colleges) I was still met with a barrage of rude attitude from the manager, and while I understand he told me not to move furniture, he did not, in any sense, need to talk down to me the way he did, I don't believe he needs to say things under his breath about me as I politely finish my drink and leave to comply with the social distancing. I also know that his attitude and general way of talking to people has upset trip advisors before (I can provide links to reviews if nessicary) all I can do is suggest people visit the standing order which is a great spoons just as local, with none of the rudeness

Great value for money breakfast, really quick service and arrived hot, unlike some 'Spoons' I've been to!

La encantadora señora dijo que no teníamos queso americano y yo dije que no podía haber problema con el queso cheddar, luego dijo que tenía que preguntarle al gerente. I met up here with a friend for a meal as I was in Southampton for work. It was a pretty wild night weather-wise as Storm Brendan was battering the area, so the pub was relatively quiet and we had no problems finding a table.As it was a Tuesday we chose from the Steak Night specials menu...my friend had the chicken and ribs combo and I fancied a 10oz rump steak, however when I went to order the meal they didn't have the rump steak, indeed they had NO steaks at all...on steak night! Not great. I went for the BBQ chicken melt, but it felt like a compromise as I was hoping for a steak.Staff were friendly and the service was prompt, and they had a few nice ales on, but I left the pub a little disappointed given the unavailability of any steaks.The pub is situated near the ferry / cruise docks in Ocean Village - around 25 minutes walk from Southampton Central Railway Station.

Popped in on saturday for a few only stayed for one, steamed up windows, sweaty air, sticky tables and floor. Drinks and service fine, but the whole place what grubby & stinky!

My daughter and I called in for lunch as she knew the pub well. I just had Nachos which were delicious. The barman was good, but the waitress was sloppy and unprofessional.

You know what your getting with Spoons. This one is one of the better ones in Southampton. They are quite frequently understaffed though, so at busy points there can be a wait at the bar. Just order on the app instead & have table service. Always clean & tidy & the food can’t be knocked for the price.

I popped in for a drink and something to eat, and thought I’d give the weatherspoon app a go for the first time. I made a bit of a mess of it; ordered food to the the wrong table the first time, ordered a non veg option when I shouldn’t have the second time but to the right table and finally the third time got it right! How embarrassing and potentially costly which would have defeated the purpose of going here in the first place! We offered to pay for the mix up but this was not necessary, I was so impressed.I have to say the customer service we received was exceptional, from the guy at the bar, to the woman who got it right for us and didn’t make me feel like a fool and was empathetic (I did so anyway!) and the kitchen staff who must have been frustrated by my sole mistake in messing up my order, to whom I apologise. I have as yet to receive better customer service anywhere else in Southampton.And the food was great! Thank you :)

There were four of us and we arrived a little early for lunch to be greeted by a leaflet advertising "Manager's Specials". It was really a question of "Manager's Not So Specials, I want to clear a surplus of gammon and rump steak." The price should have given an indication of what to expect. We have never experienced such poor service or food here before.Being Thursday my wife ordered her favourite vegetable curry. It was hot.The only item of our choice that was. The naan bread was almost warm at one end. One of the poppadums was "chewy" around the edges while the other was almost crisp.The first plate arrived.The plate was hot but that was all. The gammon was luke warm. The chips also. The peas had probably been bathed minimally in hot water.The second plate was the same but the chips were too cold to eat.The third plate was again hot. The contents not so. The chips were cold and the most unappetising piece of steak I have ever seen, although requested on the well done side, was running blood onto the plate underneath.Another male member of staff (not the person serving us) was called. He offered a new steak but it was agreed that more cooking of the original steak would be acceptable because the rest of the meal would have been too cold to eat by the time the steak was returned. He then offered a bowl of hot chips. When the steak was returned it looked even more unappetising than before. The chips were warmer but not hot. The bowl of chips for the other two diners in the party never did arrive. Also, while we were eating no one came to check that the meal was now satisfactory.We were totally ignored.We finished what we could of the meal and left without further comment. Quite frankly the whole meal was disappointing, It was poorly cooked and the service absolutely abysmal.We will give serious thought about returning to this establishment again.

Back in the Admiral, it's before midday and a good number of tables are taken. It's a typical Wetherspoons building with a high ceiling and an interior that could've been a bank. The bar is long with plenty of staff serving and there's a great choice of ale, Abbot at £2.29. This can't normally be beaten although it was, later in the day at The Bakers in Winchester!Chairs and tables outside hadn't been wiped down, covered in rain water so we did it for them. You get what you pay for I guess.

Food was acceptable but the experience was let down by sloppy hygiene - tables need a good wipe and ladies' toilets are disgusting - of the three cubicles one has a sign indicating that it is out of order, the second you can't use because the door won't close and the third has a broken seat.You always take a chance with Wetherspoons, this time our roll of the dice failed.

Having last time had a bit of a whinge about NO mayo in the sauce carts... this visit believe it or not I took my own in my handbag! But didn't need it coz the hellmans was back - joy!! Burger back to its usual excellence. Thanks spoons, see you next time.

Visited on steak Tuesday and had large mixed grill for under £10 including a doom bar. Doom Bar refills only£1.99 a pint. What's there not to love.

I went here for lunch and I order chicken strips with chips, which is enough and it tastes very nice and the price of food and drink is good. The staff was very nice and friendly and checking on how are food was and if needed anything else.

Busy on friday, but service was very nice. Food was also quite good, and place itself quite nice, a bit noicy but ok :).

this establishment provided a little peace and quiet from its closest ‘Spoons’, The Standing Order. Clean, well staffed, excellent choice of ales, and familiar faces behind the bar, Sue and Andy. 5* service and a delight to visit, won’t leave it so long before I’m back! I visited here whilst staying overnight in Southampton for work and dined alone. It's not a huge pub but I managed to find a table with no problems. The pub is situated near the ferry / cruise docks in Ocean Village - it took me around 25 minutes to walk there from my hotel near the Central Railway Station.

We are here for dinner and the food was fine but it was a shame about the woman behind the bar. We go to a lot of different Wetherspoons and the service from the staff is much better. We ordered a large mixed grill and in the other pubs I always get asked how I want it cooked, when she didn't ask, I said could the steak be medium to well done please and her response was that we don't ask as it is a small piece of steak and it gets cooked that way. We have been here before and usually the staff are polite but she was a bit impolite. It seems that the Lucius Curtis has gone downhill since our last visit, not sure if I will return

We'd left Bournemouth fairly early to ensure a chilled bit of nosh at the LC prior to the film quiz.

I stopped in for a drink and whilst there played fruit machine. Note bit broke when paying out. Told have to wait for engineer to fix and they would call me, which they didn’t I had to phone myself. Was owed £10 which is the utmost lowest note that can be paid out but they claimed that only £5 short in machine. Tried to explain it’s not physically possible that could be £5 paying out as the machine only paid £10 and £20. They were having none of it and told only get £5 back. Will it be returning again

Came here as a precursor for Christmas do ordered tuna melt and gammon egg and chips .. no tuna .. ok ordered another meal .. 10 mins later they found tuna ..by which time gammon was rock hard

Usual good value drinks and food. Friendly staff. Parking at the back for a pound an hour. Just looking a bit tired and needs a freshen up in areas.

Called in here for a breakfast prior to catching a cruise ship, large boozer, friendly staff, ample seating and a cracking breakfast.

Standard weatherspoons menu so you kind of know what you're getting but a really friendly staff. We were a group of six and multi generational, ranging from 7 through to 87 so with age related hearing issues and the need to retain interest we were able to find a table off the main bit and almost in a little alcove so that it didn't seem to be an issue that folks were repeating loudly bits of conversation. Table staff were very nice and helpful too.

Ordered the Traditional breakfast with extra black pudding. When it arrived there was no black pudding. When I explained to the girl the black pudding was missing she said "No, you asked for extra hash browns." When I explained I didn't she stomped off and came back shortly with the black pudding. No apology. The black pudding turned out to be the only thing on the plate that was hot. Luke warm bacon, beans, sausage and egg. A stone cold tomato, liquid butter sachets. Is a shame standards have slipped as this was one of the better Wetherspoons.

Always get a good beer in Spoons at a good price, service today was fast and efficient as Saints match was only a friendly. When the season arrives I hope they staff up on match days as this is what made us go else where last season as time taken to get served was too long. Great guest ale today mosaic pale ale - given the footie result only wished I had stayed and had more !!

Typical dark and dingy weatherspoons, the place needed a good clean and the standard smell of weatherspoons was present. The only saving grace was the staff were friendly and efficient and the prices were cheap. Boarding the ship tomorrow will not be visiting again.

Dreadful my mate bought a bottle of cider here and then Lexy the manager came over and asked him to leave as he hadnt bought it there, shows what incompetent management they have when they dont even know what ciders they stock , Lexy in this particular case they never have any Coors in stock either the food is dreadful and the kitchen staff use the loo without washing hands and take the rubbish out without washing hands before returning to cook lets not even mention the toilets and the state they are always in anyway marched her to the bar but no apology nothing avoid if you can the Red Lion is so so much better in terms of staff

Normal standard whetherspoons grub here but can't complain as good value for money and I'm still in love with the fact that you can order through the app and the food and drink is brought over to you. Sono venuta qui venerdì 9 con il mio ragazzo e devo dire che è stata per l'ennesima volta una delusione: ci siamo seduti ad un tavolo non tanto sporco ma necessitava di una pulita così abbiamo chiesto ad un cameriere biondo, magro più o meno alto di pulirci il tavolo e ci risponde "si tra un po'" e di lui non si vede più nemmeno l'ombra. Così abbiamo chiesto ad un'altra cameriera un po' più bassina, leggermente in carne capelli un po' sul rossiccio e ci ha risposto "si lo farà qualcuno" con sorriso stampato in faccia. Ma a chi stiamo prendendo in giro? Ma sul serio si hanno camerieri che trattano o clienti in questa maniera? Ho lavorato anch'io come cameriera per tanto tempo e la correttezza e educazione erano una Delle cose fondamentali a lavoro. Non era troppo busy da fermarsi due secondi e pulirci il tavolo!

Always use this place when visiting Southampton. Good beer, good food, nice bar staff, what more do you want from a pub. Highly recommend.

Das Sir Lucius Curtis ist wohl das Pub in Southampton mit dem besten Preisen. Speisen und Biet sind äußerst günstig. Wir haben ein paar Snacks zum Mittagessen bestellt,die alle gut waren.

We occasionally eat and drink here after watching a movie nearby. This time we were very disappointed that the menu had changed and there was not so much choice. We both chose the beef and ale pie and my husband described it as the worst pie he had ever eaten.

Visiting family in Southampton, and we just had to go to the Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis for an excellent meal. We were served quite quickly, I just cant fault this place.

We were staying locally and decided to have a snack at this pub late lunch, there was only a couple of other people. We had a bottle of wine and three tapas style snacks. Excellent price and just what we needed to keep us going until the evening. The staff were polite and helpful and the we enjoyed the view whilst eating.

I payed for peppercorn sauce amd didnt recieve it also my friend didnt recieve his egg or a knife and fork that doth butter no parsnips

This is a good whetherspoons well located, gets packed when the football is on.

I come here if going to films at the Harbour Lights because the food and drink is much better value. The staff are well trained and Wetherspoons even has an App so you can order and pay without going to the bar.

Large friendly pub good selection of beer plenty to choose from on the menu and at a good price. Nice walk around the marina nearby

WHEN IS AN ONION 'NOT' AN ONION?

Curry night and they'd run out of mango chutney! My friend wanted king prawns but they'd run out of that too. The place is dim and dingey and stank of paint. And they have no tables that seat more than 4 people! The waitress tried to help by doing some furniture moving but we had to sit by the open front door so we were freezing and couldn't shut the door as it had wet paint on it. Won't be coming here again

Disgusting food( returned and the replacement was worse which I did not touch) and disgusting service and attitude from the duty manager (she) and male server who should both be dismissed immediately. Never again.

No toilet roll in 2 out of the 3 ladies toilets. Chips that taste like onion rings. Multiple tables full of dirty glasses. No ice and the bar maid blamed bloo**y health & safely because they had to clean the machine. The same bar maid said "f**ks sake" A LOT when she eventually started sorting SOME of the glasses. A very unpleasant male shift manager who obviously thinks that walking past your table at speed whilst shouting out "all ok I'll take that as a yes then" (no punctuation there...all said in one breath) whilst doing a theatrical thumbs up constitutes customer service. Our first time back here after a few months following another bad experience with the same shift manager. That time we were placing a food order. He came over to the bar person that was serving us and started talking over us.... telling her about some menu changes. My partner mentioned to him that we were mid order to which he massively over reacted saying that he needs to let her know of the changes and what's our problem! That time my partner was so upset he retracted his food order. Tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but this place is just awful. Such a shame. It's at Ocean Village and could be a gold mine with the right management, service & quality. There are masses of excellent pubs in Southampton. Go to one of those instead. If it's a Weatherspoons that you want, go to one of the others in the city. This is the worst Wetherspoons in Southampton.

We popped in here yesterday and I was really surprised at how poor it all was.I wanted a jacket potato but they had run out. Ok not a problem, I had a burger. My friend wanted gammon but they had run out. He ordered bbq chicken but when it arrived the peas were missing. On enquiring further he was told "we've run out of peas but you should have been asked when you ordered if you wanted mushy peas"!!.Knives and forks were scarce too and we had to flag someone down for them.I overhead people on the next table asking for bread but it appears the pub had run out of bread.The tables weren't particularly clean and there were empty tables with plates of food on them awaiting collection. I saw staff walk by to deliver food to other tables but they didn't think to pick up the plates on the way back.The whole pub had an unloved scruffy feel about it. Shame because the one in Woking is fantastic.

Called in for lunch with my daughter. Staff were friendly and we were served quite quickly with our food. Typical pub style menu very good quality I had a Burger and my daughter had a steak both were very nice.

Great pub, always friendly staff. Has gained a reputation for being a bit slow with food, I wouldn't know. The beers are always good and the atmosphere has improved since Lexi returned as Manager, Andy yesterday was a bonus. Well worth a visit anytime, great building with history.

You certainly get value for your money here. Cozy interior with outside decking which is a plus when the weather is nice. Friendly staff.

Went in last night at the request of my step father as it was 'curry night'. The curry menu was pretty wide and varied and the prices were great when you consider that it includes your drink. However, we were told at the bar the food wait time was around 25 minutes, I only wish it was. It took over an hour to bring out our food, by which time we were all starving - if it was cooked fresh I could understand this wait. The place didn't seem that busy, certainly quite a few spare tables so I have no idea whether this is normal. I've never waited that long in any other JDW pubs. Sadly disappointed with this one.

Struggled to find somewhere in ocean village for breakfast and very reluctantly went in. I had the fruit and yoghurt and my husband had scrambled egg on toast, to be fair with the coffee it was great value for money. We felt slightly out of place as everybody else had a hard hat or hi-vis jacket. A bit worrying to see workmen drinking pints of beer at 10am! Check before you buy any new flats on the marina!!!!

We were here 3 times over our stay. The price is right and until today the food was good. Today is Sunday and the fish was hard and the fries were freezer cold. Cleaned our own table - could use a few extra staff....

Lovely old bank building that been converted by the JDW chain. Great service and excellent value all round in my view. We only had 45mins before our movie, but we had no issues with food/drink timing and quality was really good for the low price paid! Just goes to prove that you can get real value for a reasonable outlay. Well done JDW!!
