This Fish and chips shop is so unique, they go fishing themselves for their catch and then come back and cook the catch They also have their own potato garden and the chips come from there. We of course had the fish and chips but couldn’t resist to add the lobster scampi. The staff was super friendly and the experience fabulous The price so reasonable too.

Very disappointed after reading so many good things and excellent reviews. Part of the problem was that the fish is pollock, which we knew when we booked, but we didn’t enjoy the taste of the fish at all and the batter was very very thick, so not light and crispy as it should be. We had much much better fish and chips from the van on St Marys.

I was really looking forward to going to this place for fish and chips I had heard very good things about it. I was so pleased that they would be able to cater for my son gluten free needs and that they would be able to do fish and chips for him. The place was slightly busy but not too bad. The fish and chips that were coming out looked excellent plump fish with golden batter. When my son arrived it was just that looked wonderful and he said it was excellent. Then mine was placed down straight away i could see that it looked over cooked. I went to cut into it and the batter was so hard that the fish just slid across the plate. The fish inside the over cooked batter was so dry and stuck to the batter it was horrible. I know I should have brought it to their attention but I was with someone who really struggles when a problem is pointed out, so i did not say anything just ate the chips. What i would say though is that fish should never have left the kitchen it was so obvious that it had been over cooked. These things can happen in a busy kitchen, but every plate should have the once over before it leaves the kitchen. I am sure this was just a one off so do not want to give a bad review but I have to be honest.

Adam's is open only 2 nights a week - 6-8pm (I think) and booking is essential so they can cater for everyone; your hotel/landlord can book on your behalf or just find the number and call them. If you leave a message, they will call you back and confirm details. It is a fairly limited menu so you need to pre-order your meal and it is difficult to change your mind. The 'restaurant' is a wooden building seating around 40 inside and another 20 outside in a covered veranda; you get to it by walking towards the quay, turn left before you get to the quay, walk through a field and along a track - just before the vineyard. So it is a very quirky night out, that's for sure and there is a bar too. Prices are high for what you get but then again, it is unusual, very local and a good way to meet a lot of people all at once, it is pretty popular.

Our holiday was on St Martins this year so we took the opportunity to go to this restaurant twice, both times having a great meal served by helpful friendly staff. Both our main courses and deserts were served in a timely efficient fashion manner. As I'm not a fish eater I had local sausages with chips and peas both times, which were great, my wife had the benefit of a really nice fresh fish meal with chips and peas the first time and then a fabulous half a lobster, whose proportions were surprisingly significant, with potatoes and veg (Lobster when available needs to be booked in advance). Deserts were very nice indeed. As IOS regulars will know there is a boat from St Mary's to Adams for an evening meal, so don't miss out! A great meal and good value for the quality.

This place was recommended to us on St Mary's. Apparently they grow their own potatoes for their chips & catch their own fish too, so the food is fresh. Its only open on a Tuesday & Thursday evening so gets quite busy & therefore, booking in advance is recommended. The fish comes with garden peas & tartare sauce. These meals are around £10 each or so. They offer a vegey burger, but if you want this, you should order in advance or they think when you book to eat here, you are automatically booking in for fish & chips. We had a bottle of Rose which was £16. So the bill came to approximately £37. To be honest, our local chippy in Manchester is way better than the food here. The chips were OK, but the oil they use had quite a strong taste to me & was a little bit off putting. It's dog friendly to eat at the tables outside which are under cover. Again, the staff could be a little friendlier/ more chirpy.

Whilst my wife and I were on holiday in the Scilly Isles, staying on St Marys island, we booked an evening boat trip/meal to go to the reputedly excellent Adams Fish and Chips. Our fish, chips and peas were good, but not the best and disappointing considering all the hype. We had Fish and Chips that were equal in quality on St Marys, but without the cost of the boat trip. Adams are licenced and had one real ale available served straight from the cask. We also had a desert which were OK. We ate in the long garden gazebo, where you can take dogs. They are not allowed in the proper restaurant. I'll give Adams very good 4*, because they were better than average and Trip Advisor don't have a good, which would be more appropriate. We visted this very interesting cabin-style restaurant twice while on holiday in Scilly, in July and August. Locally caught fish, chips from pototoes grown on St Martins and selling wine from the vineyard occupying the next door plot of land, makes the experience all the more virtuous, The fish was prepared in a light, non-greasy batter (likewise the lobster tails on our second visit) and the chips were quite chunky and of perfect consistency. Shame about the accompanying (yes I know that they are traditional) frozen peas which perhaps could have been replaced by another vegetable for a change. The wine though was delicious on both our visits. We came away feeling both full and satisfied on both occasions. Undoubtedly one of the best meals of this type we have eaten. Not to be missed.

Very good, fresh fish and chips offered to eat in or take away at this restaurant in Higher Town. Lobster, sausages and other chip shop fare are also available. They also offer a selection of bottled beers and wines from the vineyard next door, along with a number of desserts.Seating is available indoors, or on the outdoors covered patio. It is not open all the time so do check in advance, but I understand that September opening times are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evening between 6pm and 8.30pm, and it is worth booking a table in advance.

As features in BBC Coast Programme. If you are staying on St Martins, you will certainly end up here anyway. There is a limited menu. It's fish and chips or lobster tails and chips. Peas come with both. There are usually a couple of sweets and local ice cream. What they do, they do superbly. I always have the lobster tails, my wife has the fish and we go time and again.Check the opening times as it's not open every evening. Usually 4 or 5 nights a week. There is indoor seating, an outdoor area, largely covered and a tented area on the end. Countryside views as its out of the way. The staff are friendly and the inexpensive house wines good. The rustic furniture is treated with a finish that makes it feel sticky which is a little off putting but I watched the staff turn some tables and cleanliness was paramount so have no worries. We will be back again and again.

Only thing wrong with this place is that it is not open enough... do check the hours before getting excited about your lovely supper there.

St. Martins is a fabulous island and in my humble opinion it's the best. There are quite a few places to eat and all of them serve some of the best food I've ever tasted. Adam's is no exception. We were lucky enough to eat here twice and the lobster tails are succulent and moreish! I am still dreaming about them now, as I write. The service is beautiful, everyone was soo warm & friendly and we had a great chat too. It's no ordinary chip shop experience, they really care in here. They also serve the Island's fantastic wine and I cannot recommend enough the bursting with freshness 2014 Seyval white wine - it tastes like fresh gooseberries and lemons, it's clean, fresh and bursting with sassiness on the tongue. Served extra chilled, it's spine tingly refreshing.Whatever you do, make sure you book in advance, it's popular for a reason & the locals eat here too! You can sit inside which is lovely and homely or you can sit outside on one of the many picnic benches. You won't be disappointed.P.s it's just been featured on the BBC's Coast programme on 19th July - you get to see Adam catching his own fish for the restaurant

We visited on the supper boat from St Mary's and enjoyed the experience. However, having read the reviews on here before we came we were rather disappointed with our fish, but maybe we were just unlucky. Unfortunately the batter was too thick, it was also overcooked, and there wasn't that much fish inside. The service was very good from friendly and helpful staff and we enjoyed the local white wine. We'll come back when we visit the Scillies next time and try again.

I don't reall do fish and chips because I don't like the smell of frying, however this place was lovely. Not a bit greasy and no smell. Not only that, delicious fish and chips with tartare sauce in individual pots with spoons, excellent service and of course gorgeous surroundings. I recommend it, but book first.

Superb fish and chips, not too large a portion but very good. We met Adam on the quay bringing in the days catch.

We hopped aboard Dave Hooper's Crusader from St Mary's and poodled across for a delightful evening meal. The service was friendly and efficient, portions were more than generous, the batter was deliciously crispy, everything was served piping hot and gorgeously fresh. There was a reassuring constant stream of locals popping in collecting their fish and chips takeaway and there was not a spare seat in the whole restaurant so it is definitely advised that you book early on in your stay to not be disappointed!Great for an evening boat ride and meal. Would highly recommend to add to the 'To-Do' list when visiting the Scillies. We are yet to have another fish and chips to compare to this.

as locally sourced and family friendly and welcoming a place you couldnt find. The food is always a delight, as are the staff and the only problem is that the various folk and other evenings never have enough space for everyone who wants to go.
