Acordo Lounge in Dover

We happened on this place for breakfast on a Thursday morning. We had wanted to go somewhere else, but hadn't booked. It was big and deserted at 10am. We had two standard full English and a bacon buttie and a sausage sandwich and a hot chocolate and a latte. Everything was nice and the breakfasts were a sensible size. The food arrived fairly quickly.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime. Attractive menu although suspiciously large. And there is no place for spinach, chickpeas or yoghurt in a shakshuka, let alone chorizo. Anyway, rant over. We went in and waited to be seated but there were no staff about. We were just about to leave when a staff member came from the upstairs, asked how many of us there were and just said take any table and rushed off. We guessed that we needed to order at the bar and chose our food and drinks. When I went to the bar the only member of staff there was too busy making coffees to acknowledge me. Eventually she took my order I paid and I went back to our table. Our drinks turned up after about 10 minutes, but 30 minutes after ordering we were finally served. I haven’t given just one star as the burrito and the panino were both very tasty as were our lemonades. However how can it take 30 minutes to make and serve a sandwich. Even with a half empty restaurant there clearly weren’t enough staff and those that were there simply weren’t providing a satisfactory level of service. I doubt we’ll be back.

First time coming here and looks nice from the outside. We wanted a quick meal and chose this over Wetherspoons. To be honest you may as well stick with Wetherspoons, the food is mostly the same but cheaper. The chips were cold and so was the fish sandwich. It’s completely overpriced and basic food that is not very nice. I won’t go again.

Could have been better. Food was tasty but poached eggs lol how the chef passed those bullets as poached was ridiculous. No body checked if the food was okay, I think they were scared as they were not busy yet I sat with my plate in front of us for twenty minutes. It’s nice and clean but perhaps lacks management.

2nd time I have been to this one & I can say the experience has not improved. Staff are polite enough but the food is over priced. Unless you sit by a window it is very dismal & it feels like it could do with a good clean. I live local & I will not be returning anytime soon.

Visited after recommendations from a friend. Sadly they must have gone on a night when they actually had a few more staff. One at the bar and one serving two floors is totally unacceptable for both customers and the staff employed here. My first two choices were unavailable. I ordered a third choice. Almost 20-25 minutes later I was apologetically told that wasn’t available either. I went for another choice. As a goodwill gesture I was refunded for my original order. Food arrived, mine was ok but my husband’s didn’t look great. We ordered deserts and they were pretty awful to be honest, especially for £7.50 each. The manager here was very hard working and it was clear a place of this size really does need more staff. Sadly, although we live within a few miles and regularly visit Deal, we won’t be going back.

Stopped by on a Friday morning about 11:00. Not very busy. Lighting poor, furnishings jaded, not especially clean. Quite a few dogs present. Told to find a seat (no help) and go to bar to order. No one at bar. Eventually a person wo said (s)he was Russian turned up. No smiles, no hello. Asked for Elderflower cooler no ice and an Americano. Without a word she prepared a cooler with ice. Had to start again. Then (s)he did not know whether the drink was made with soda. Asked a colleague. By now (s)he could not remember the rest of this simple order. Reminded them about the coffee, (S)he told me to sit down and the drink would brought along. Carried my own cooler to the table and sat down. Waited 10 minutes for a black coffee. Again no smiles, just plonked it down. Mark on side of cup so I cleaned it off guessing that other cups would be no cleaner. Maybe they were. Toilet was without soap and the cleaning schedule was last initialled at 15:00 the previous day. As advised by the sign in the toilet, told the Russian and (s)he said who someone would take care of it. A major hygiene problem. (S)he did not act to sort it out. Staff not interested in customer service it seems.

Lovely place where we had lunch on a Sunday for our first visit. Our food was well presented and was very tasty (Shakshuka with chorizo and Sweet potato fries and Nasi Goreng) and the drinks were good. All staff we talked to were very friendly and we loved the relaxed atmosphere of the Acordo Lounge with all the lovely framed photos, paintings or reproductions to look at. We will come back!
