The best restaurants serving Seafood food in Streonshalh Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

Albert’s became a family favourite after our last visit in 2021 - a fantastic location offering a wonderful choice of seafood, served professionally and with a touch of sophistication. In 2023 we had family from USA and Australia visiting, so on a trip to Whitby we booked Albert’s as a way of showcasing the ‘Best of British’ - unfortunately in the intervening period, the standard has dropped significantly. Menu choices were limited (the seafood platters we were expecting weren’t available) and whilst the service was friendly, it felt overall like we were eating at a slightly upmarket cafe - such a waste of the wonderful location. Hopefully the people running Albert’s can recruit well and get the kitchen back to where it used to be, and a bit of training for front of house to bring back the special feel that it we experienced on our earlier visit.

Best takeaway for fish and chips. Although I have not tried all takeaways.

We stopped in here when we were at Whitby goth weekend. I'm always nervous about eating out due to a milk allergy but it was nice to see they had a vegan menu, it did have limited items but it was still nice to see somewhere that wasn't going to turn me into the exorcist. The server was really helpful and so lovely, I didn't get his name but he was the only server in there. Once I told him about the milk allergy he said he'd inform the kitchen which put my mind at ease. The food was absolutely lush, I had the lentil Ragu and those garlic potatoes were unreal. My OH had the fish and chips and he said it was amazing, and the mushy peas were the best he'd had. The quality was fab and the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be returning next goth weekend.

Mis amigos y yo vivimos en Pickering y pensamos que teníamos garantizado un gran pescado y patatas fritas en Whitby. Desafortunadamente, llegamos a la única “tienda de pescado con papas fritas” en la ciudad que utiliza “aceite vegetal” - que se extrae a la fuerza con disolventes tóxicos como el hexano - y los resultados fueron secos e insípidos. Necesitas carne goteando para un pescado decente. We were made very welcome in front of the fire. We have a well behaved golden doodle dog who settled down and slept while we had tea gluten free burger and chips. Medium cod and scampi combo. They gave the chips from this to my husband as he loves extra chips. It is licensed It is small and the young man who served us was very sociable
