Right in the heart of Covent Garden. We were here for a lunch booked months earlier for a Birthday celebration. When booking we got the "that's great etc..." Absolutely no acknowledgement on arrival - and that doesn't mean getting complimentary anything - just nice to be acknowledged. Initially give a table adjacent to the stirs to the loo which I couldn't actually get into! Moved without problem. The tables are very close, but that's unavoidable. We had drinks and then ordered. Annoyingly (there were three of us) two meals arrived, but my wife's did not - we ended up eating whilst she waited almost half an hour. Her fish - pollock, was at best average. I had first the mussels which were tepid. Then the lemon sole (the day's special) . It came only with capers and parsley swimming in oil. Little room to deal with the head (never asked if I wanted it on or off). Whilst it was tasty, it was also tepid and served on a cold plate. I suspect that the kitchen was too busy preparing for a large baby shower party? In all, not quite the experience we had hoped for. We aren't likely to return for a meal - maybe oysters and fizz?

We attended Barrafina on Adelaide street this week. The host was lovely and showed us to our table. We had a baby with us who was asleep and he helped us downstairs. The host double checked our requirements as Pescaterian. Our waiter on the hand, was rude from the get go with attitude. He didn’t have a pen with him when he took our order and when he tried to recall our order, he got it wrong twice but didn’t seem to like it when we corrected him. I have no idea what we did to insult him to get all that attitude. He confirmed that we were pescatarian but still brought us sauces with chicken stock and then proceeded to tell us that that sauce had chicken stock to our amazement. When we tried to call him back to remove this said sauce, he completely ignored us. Once he decided he was ready to serve us, we had a back and fourth and he didn’t want to remove this said sauce. Then he ignored us again when we tried to ask for water. The space was not that large or noisy for him not to hear us. The worst part was that he was serving the other customers with a huge smile. I gritted my teeth and didn’t want to make a fuss in front of the little one however this was infuriating. This place is not cheap and to be treated like trash was really upsetting. I’m actually angry at myself for paying the service charge as it was not worth it. The food was nice, I was expecting better but could’ve lived with it if the service wasn’t so atrocious. I hate to say this, but I hope it wasn’t racially motivated.

A typical, excellent English type restaurant with good food, interesting decor and architecture in handy location at end of The Strand. Friendly waiter been there for years.

We actually came for the giant chocolate cake, but also got some steak since we were there. Food: The bread was OMG SOOO hard. It was like a rock. Even the table next to us had the same reaction. The staff cut the steak for us, which was nice touch, but it came more cooked than we asked for. We ordered medium, but it was closer to medium-well. The creamed spinach was spot-on, and we loved the potatoes! The cake was great, but we were too full to finish that giant piece. Experience: The staffs could've been a little more attentive. One server clearly didn't have many tables to handle, while others seemed too busy managing everything else.
