Piersland House Hotel

Troon, South Ayrshire
17/03/2019: We were at a friends wedding and have to say the food was lovely. Normally at weddings food can be hit or a miss but food was definitely a hit! Would visit next time in Troon just for dinner and maybe a stay too!
17/03/2019: My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and service provided by most efficient staff. Dinner was excellent cooked to perfection. Starters were one prawns and one melon both lovely followed by very generous portion of salmon, best I have tasted in a while and one chicken garnished with brie delicious. No room left for sweets.

Kirkmichael Arms

Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire
11/03/2019: First visit for us, definitely won't be the last! We're quite new to the area and have been trying out a few local places. This is really impressive. The menu is superb with a wide ranging choice plus a specials board from which I chose two courses and my wife had one. All were fantastic, tasty, generous meals and we can't wait to go back for more. Service was excellent too despite it being quite busy at the time we were eating.
03/03/2019: Was looking at menu outside as closed when we past to be told by local walking past ‘you should really try it.’ Booked for 2 nights later. Service was good and friendly, food was excellent apart from a small issue dealt with happily and quickly. Otherwise a great meal in a very nice pub restaurant. If you are down In Ayr try it. We own timeshare in the area and will visit this little gem again. Please note not open on Monday in the winter. Please call and book on Friday & Saturday.

The Drift Inn

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
10/02/2019: The Drift Inn in Lamlash is an Arran institution & always on our list of places to visit when visiting Arran. The variety of food on offer is always amazing, so visitors might struggle to pick a favourite from the menus or the board. The set lunchtime menu is good value, though the specials board choice is crammed with delicious options too.
08/02/2019: We dropped in for lunch and were treated to a menu that we hadn’t see previously. At the moment they are offering 2 courses and a drink for £14. I think this represents great value for money but of course the food quality and quantity have to be accounted for. All I can say that both were excellent, we enjoyed haggis fritters, sea bream goujons, meatballs and Arran ice cream. Even in poor weather the views across to the Holy Isle are magnificent. Top spot.

The Masons Arms

Kilbirnie and Beith, North Ayrshire
17/10/2018: Great friendly pub Karen and staff excellent hosts food and hospitality 100% lovely wee hidden gem in longmarton just outside Appleby Cumbria

Scott's Bar & Restaurant

Troon, South Ayrshire, 30-45£
19/03/2019: As a family we greatly enjoy all the Buzzworks restaurants but we had never tried Scotts. This was a birthday treat and Scotts did not let us down - it was great! PLEASE NOTE - Scotts is upstairs although it does have a small lift.
19/03/2019: We stayed in Troon for a couple of nights and to be honest we really struggled to find somewhere good to eat. We stumbled upon Scott's whilst out walking around the shore and harbour. We decided to dine early to beat the crowd and we are happy we did so because the place was really busy. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was excellent. Then we get to the food! Keep up the great work and compliments to the kitchen staff for a wonderful dinner. Absolutely on the button!

Souter's Inn Restaurant

Maybole, North Carrick and Coylton, South Ayrshire
04/03/2019: First visit here and it was really fantastic. Booking process is easy, service was first class, food was really delicious and generous, beer selection also excellent. Stunning inside and out in a very nice location. We’ll be back soon
03/03/2019: Intended staying for lunch, unfortunately the beer I ordered was not of the required quality, consequently I lunched elsewhere. I'm sure that the food would be of a good standard. It's not a good idea to serve ale without making certain that the quality is acceptable.

Puffers cafe

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
03/02/2019: I was visiting puffers cafe with a group of friends consisting of 4 women and 2 babies under 6 months of age. We were sat for about 20 minutes and no one had taken out order yet, which we were ok with as it was quite busy. We had asked one of the younger waitresses if we could close the blinds slightly at our window side table because the sun was in the babies eyes, she said she would get someone to come and close them about ten minutes later we again asked she advised us that the blinds were for decoration and didn’t actually work I had said to her that the other table had their blinds lowered so she again said she’d get someone to come and close them, 5 minutes later and sun was still in babies eyes we looked around to move table and there was no table so my friend got up to close the blinds they were half way closed when a scream came across the cafe shouting “NO NO NO DO NOT CLOSE THEY BLINDS THEY FELL ON A WEE BOY” my friend sat back down and another young waitress came over and apologised explaining the woman who had shouted had told her they had previously fallen on a child, my friend said “well that was totally unprofessional shouting across the cafe we had asked twice” she apologised explaining that the girl we had asked was training she asked us if she could move us tables and managed to get one for us, as we sat down got the two babies in high chairs this woman came barging over to us and started shouting loudly in my friends face saying “I’ll have you know that’s not unprofessional what would have been unprofessional is if the blind had fallen on the babies” my friend advised that the way she was behaving right now was unprofessional and she shouted again “this isn’t unprofessional” the full cafe stopped and was shocked customers were shaking their heads in disbelief and the people next to us even stated they would never be back. My other friend who had arrived first and had a drink went up to pay and one of the staff couldn’t have been any nicer and apologised for her behaviour saying she was going to have a word with the manager but we were already going elsewhere. My baby has never witnessed shouting and neither has my friends baby I am shocked, appalled and disgusted at this woman’s behaviour to feel the need to shout at a group of girls with two young babies is rediculous. If the blinds are an issue there should be a sign up saying not to touch the blinds and to be perfectly honest they shouldn’t even be up if they have previously fallen on a little boy. It was my first time there and I will never be back! One member of staff ruining it!
31/01/2019: We went during a visit to the Maritime Museum, the Puffers building houses some interesting exhibits and ship models in an area prior to entering the cafe. The cafe has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and it is table service which is nice. We sat in window seats which on the day of our visit afforded lovely views out to a snow covered Isle of Aran. Food is home cooked, tasty and great value for money. The cafe seems to be a place for local mums to gather with their babies and children and the cafe has a little toy corner for the little ones. We enjoyed our meals a lot and would return if in the area.

Brambles Seafood + Grill

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, 30-45£
14/02/2019: Had dinner while staying at Auchrannie and the food is ace. I am not much of a seafood fan though I am sure it is great. However I had ribeye steak that was tasty and cooked to perfection. Our starters and desserts were also great, would highly recommend
10/02/2019: So we decided to try the seafood restaurant but I did find the menu quite limited. I love prawns but the only ones on the menu were a prawn tacos starter. I ended up having steak which was lovely but I would have loved a prawn or langoustine considering were in Scotland. The bramble cocktails were lovely. Biggest issue was that the restaurant was so hot we all ended up not feeling too good. My hisdand had to leave and go outside to cool down. The staff turned the radiators down but it was just far too warm inside. My husband had the curried cod special and liked it. The kids liked the pasta and the chicken goujons. Friendly servers and a nice environment (if kept at the right temperature, P.S. I am cold blooded and never too warm so it must have been extremely warm for me to notice!).

Lido Troon

Troon, South Ayrshire
16/03/2019: Partner’s birthday, family meal. service was one of the best I’ve experienced. Georgie (How i reckon you spell it) was brilliant, always smiling, very prompt and attentive. One minor mishap with a steak dish being over cooked, then once more upon re-firing. Beyond that, great atmosphere, great staff. Definitely recommend!
10/03/2019: Had the private dining area for a birthday celebration. Lovely meal and service. Would definitely recommend for any celebration. Staff were efficient and looked after us well

19/03/2019: Unfortunately we had a very disappointing visit. Every member of our party found the food to be disappointing, overpriced and extremely poor service. Will not be returning.
10/03/2019: Great delicious fresh food, excellent service. One of the best on the Island and well worth a visit in its own right. Next door is the Old Byre shop again quality products of distinction and excellence.

Cafe Rico

East Kilbride Central North, South Lanarkshire, <20£
24/02/2019: Great place for a nice lunch ,menu has a great choice of different food from sandwiches to pasta.Staff are so welcoming and so polite .
20/02/2019: I'll say first of all that if I didn't have a wheat intolerance, I would rate this café 4/5. The food our group ordered was all very tasty and the menu had a great range. There were lots of gluten/wheat free options which was what encouraged me to ask our group if we could visit for lunch. The service was a bit slow but it was extremely busy so this was fine and to be expected.
