We tried here for the first time today. There’s a very clean, fresh and welcoming atmosphere in this very attractive cafe, situated near the stunning Royal Botanic Garden. There’s a very appealing choice of cakes and scones etc. We shared a cheese and chive scone which was delicious, plus we enjoyed excellent tea and coffee. We intend to return when we are next on foot, in Inverleith and wholeheartedly recommend Krem Karamel.

Anywhere else, I would be unenthusiastic about Chef Bako, but for touristic Edinburgh it's not at all bad. Situated at the far end of the Royal Mile, near the Museum of Edinburgh, it has a fairly basic menu that includes fish & chips. This was freshly cooked to order, and served with a micro pot of mushy peas, and equally sized one of tartare sauce. They are unlicensed, so I splashed out on a can of Irn Brew. The fish & chips were fine - not a huge portion, and not cheap, but about as good a deal as you can get in this part of the city. There are a few seats along a counter on one side of the shop. I'm amazed how much more expensive it is than Glasgow!

Fantastic place that we stumbled across while staying at the nearby Novotel. Very reasonable prices and a wide selection of food and drink for our breakfast. We had a toddler with us and the lady serving was very welcoming and friendly. There is lots of space and the cafe had a nice decor. We had coffee, tea, croissants, muffins and sausage patties. I would definitely pop back here again when staying nearby.

One of my favourite vegan eats in Edinburgh. The hearty soup is perfect during the cold winter months. Can't miss the tasty vegan cakes 🧡

First-class bakery. Safe, clean, coronavirus-compliant, food's delicious and the girl is courteous and friendly. Will go back again.
