found this place accidentally when traveling from birmingham to reading - googled coffee and in a split second decision seen this place - off the motorway - and it seemed perfect to break up the journey. coffee was excellent, nice to be able to see into the roastery. plenty of parking. only had coffee and pastry, good to see that their coffees are by default made with oat milk (although the barista did ask to confirm). it was a little too cold for my liking, thats probably the only qualm i would have. wish we actually stayed for brunch/lunch - the menu options looked amazing, the stack of pancakes and egg melt with cheese. I hope we get a chance to come back. also shop with specialty coffees, good to see large selection of decaf coffees.

Popped in here on our way to the airport from northumberland. The ladies who served us were so warm and welcoming. The scones were handmade and delicious. So sad this little gem isn’t on our doorstep because we’d be here all the time to chat and eat if we could

Lovely, friendly cafe with a range of vegan food. They kept a table for us at short notice and were good-humoured as we ummed and ah-ed...

Such a lovely couple who own it and they are so warm and welcoming to absolutely everyone. My husband and I went for tea and took our French Bulldog Winnie who was equally pampered as the tearoom is dog friendly. My husband had cake and I had a plain scone with jam and butter and it was he best scone I have ever eaten in my 58 years! So much so we ordered another one to share. This place comes highly recommended.

A very popular and busy cafe that can be difficult to get a table in, especially in the cruise season. I often end up walking past as the place looks packed when peering through the window. The service is table service, but you need to order at the counter just inside the entrance on the left. This area can be quite loud so you may have difficulty hearing yourself order. My table was clean and ready to use. There is little room between the tables so you might find yourself dusting off your neighbour's table with your trousers/skirt. You can't help but get into friendly conversation with the cutomers on nearby tables so you might make new friends! The Cullen skink soup needed more fish, potato and cream, but less leek. Not as good when I was in there a number of weeks ago, although I understand that they have had some turnover of kitchen staff in the relatively short time that they have been open. The blackcurrant sponge cake/flan was superb. The others that I didn't try looked very good too. The portion was quite generous. The flat white coffee was disappointing. It was very strong suggesting a double shot of a dark roast, perhaps it was Peerie Spiggie coffee? In blind testing in the UK customers almost always expressed a preference for a lighter roast, but many cafes use a dark roast. The cup seemed smaller than eight ounces, the accepted size for serving flat whites, but I may be wrong about their cup size. The drink seemed watery. The proportion of milk to coffee was wrong. It may also have been that the milk used was not full fat milk, which is a shame as the local Shetland Dairy's full fat milk is particularly good for coffee drinks that have stretched milk, as it seems to have a high cream content. I would recommend weighing the water that has passed through the portafilter: 18g of ground coffee in to 36g of coffee out then top up with stretched milk. The younger staff are busy and very good at clearing and cleaning the tables quickly, freeing up space for the next customer, as well as being polite, professional and cheerful. I noticed some of the customers lingering longer than was polite in the circumstances, i.e. other customers waiting for seats. Pete's Cafe is one of the best cafes in Lerwick, but also try the Olive Tree in the Bolts Shopping Centre. The soup will be better, as will the coffee, and you will have more space between the tables. The cakes won't be as good though.

My wife and I visited Dunkeld and Birnam after attending a wedding in the area and, after hearing about a bookshop in Birnam, wanted to make sure we visited before heading home. What a fantastic bookshop! We spent ages browing through the superb collection of books - both of us taken with the large range of art and photography books. Even though they were all second hand, the condition was immaculate. The prices for books that essentially looked new was another bonus, being far less than I initially thought. Needless to say we both left very happy with a stack of books between us. Icing on the cake was a coffee to take away (talking of cake, there was cake as well, but sadly after filling ourselves up with our hotel breakfast we couldn't bring ourselves to try any). Service was faultless as well and very pleasant. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We ordered from here for work! I have coeliac disease so it was lovely to see such an amazing range of gluten free options! The food was incredible and really made my day! There’s not much places around here for gluten free but this is definitely now my number one place to get from! Thank you for doing such a great job and making me feel appreciated! :))

Lovely intimate cafe and meeting point for islanders and visitors alike. The food was amazing. A hearty bowl of tasty soup and mince pie with calvados for after. Thoroughly recommend this gem
