Spotlessly clean cafe, plenty of seating. Wide choice of light bites including panini and toasted sandwiches. Plus excellent choice of ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurt. Great place to walk, dog friendly if kept on a lead. Only slight criticism is the 600m sign to the lime kilns. Definitely further than that. Great afternoon out, however, and would return.

My wife and I had an overnight stay here last weekend as a late Mother’s day present and 5 stars is not enough for the experience we had. We arrived mid afternoon and after speaking to the staff we were shown our cabin for the night. The cabin is one of four in a field overlooking the countryside and nearby hills, the view from the outside seating area was stunning on what was a glorious day with beautiful sunshine. The cabin was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a short stay and best of all NO TELEVISION, so it was possible to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. After being shown the cabin, as it was a beautiful sunny day we decided to have a drink in the beer garden. We ordered two local drinks (cider and pale ale) and sat in the beer garden, and we were instantly hit with the overbearing sound of SILENCE, The sun was beating down , the drinks were superb, we sat there watching the chefs foraging for wild garlic and watching a bird of prey hovering in the sky, there was no sound apart from birds singing. The stress of everyday life literally fell away. My daughter and her girlfriend drove up from West Wales for the meal as it was a late Mother’s day present. The pub itself was again spotlessly clean with a beautiful old world charm which is sadly lost in many modern day establishments. The front of house staff from the barman to the waitresses were excellent, they were cheerful, happy to talk and have a laugh but were totally professional at the same time. They produced some of the best service we have ever had anywhere. As for the meal, what can I say, it was superb from start to finish, the food was fresh tasting and full of flavour, none of us could find fault with it at all… Hats off to the chefs. After a beautiful meal were eventually retired to the cabin for the night, the bed was lovely and comfy and we had a cracking nights sleep. Breakfast is supplied in the form of locally sourced/made yoghurt, granola, bread, butter and jams, many of which are made at the pub, again they were very fresh and tasty. We sat there in the morning having breakfast with the patio doors open due to it being a beautiful day with nothing apart from the sounds of the birds to disturb us. It was total bliss. I have never been anywhere for such a short time (less than 24 hrs) and felt more relaxed, I wish we could have stayed longer. If you want an experience of a beautiful setting, excellent service and superb food then this is it. We WILL be returning and frankly I cannot wait for the next time.
