The post office owner is the rudest person I have ever met! Shop is good but customer service zero…..

A warm welcome by a young girl on arrival at til , menus are a little misleading due to if u ordered a burger/ toastie or panini the chips are extra charge on top which i wasnt expecting. As we ordered the dog which was wandering around the cafe just walked behind the counter into the kitchen!! the lady in the kitchen was in no rush to push the dog out . I'd already started placing my order at this point .Ordered 3 meals 2 arrived with not much of a wait but the 3nd meal took ages ,l had to go up and ask which said was on its ways but we had nearly finished the meal by the time the 3nd came out. Top off the 3nd meal being very long wait there wasnt nothing on the side either just very small pot of coleslaw, didnt realise so had go back up and order portion chips which was another wait . No offers of free drink for the person waiting or a very sorry for the issues . Evan while we ate food the dog came to the table to sniff . Unfortunately the dog is table height which is very off putting . Told the dog to go from the table . Overall the young girl serving us did her best , ended up being a pretty expensive lunch out with the add ons . I definitely won't be returning. As we left the dog had been put outside on his bed .

We needed somewhere to meet friends in Pontrilas. We found the cafe and village shop quite by accident. Luckily! We went in the shop first to ask where the cafe was immediately noticed how clean, bright and well stocked it was. Bought a paper from the friendly lady and was directed round the corner to the cafe entrance. As you know cafe's give you an instant impression. Our first impression was how nice it looked. It got better. The cakes looked far too tempting for my diet, so just coffee and toasted teacakes. Both perfect, again friendly chatty attentive staff and spotlessly clean. I don't want to go on at length but the whole place thoroughly deserves it's British Empire medal. We all loved it, even the dog was charming, even when she barked at both of us men! She just wanted more attention. Nothing new there......! It is a longish drive from home, but well worth the trip. Thank you to all the staff and the friendly local customers. Regards, from the Ensors and the Gaths.

Horrible experience - I don’t understand how this cafe has any positive reviews as I could hear other people asking for their food/drink to be warmed up or changed whilst we were there and getting a very hostile response. I had quiche and it was rubbery and tasteless. My other half had a baguette that clearly wasn’t freshly made as it had gone soggy in the middle. After hearing other people almost being scolded by the lady who runs it for asking for their food to be warmed or redone, I just wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. The coffee shop also has very basic decor and no ambience to speak of. Much better to go for a coffee at the Temple Bar in the nearby Ewyas Harold and have a lovely warm reception and food.

Stopped off her for a quick drink and bite to eat on our way to Abergavenny. The female staff inside was very rude, obnoxious and almost awkward towards us. The wife and I quickly finished our coffee and wanted to get out ASAP. Won’t be stopping here again. It was almost as if she didn’t like us because were English? (She spoke with a deep welsh accent) or maybe she just has a problem with men? Who knows but we won’t be going back to find out I can assure you. Terrible experience

If you want to be surrounded by warmth, friendliness and good food come here. But this is not any cafe... this is a community cafe which serves so many needs in isolated villages. Sonya greeting to all her guests is something special. From the minute you enter the doors you feel so welcome. Not only is Sonya is an excellent cook providing a variety of fresh delicious meals she has a heart for all those who live around who are lonely, ill or depressed. Her story and the work she has pioneered in the community is worth hearing first hand and it will encourage you to know there are wonderful people doing wonderful things.

I absolutely love being in this place and it has a beautifully calm feel. However I am totally astonished by the dolls-house size servings for lunch- at normal lunch prices. I almost asked them if they hadn’t accidentally given me a kiddie’s portion - for a cheaper price- as for over £9 I got two slices of delicious small rye toast, about 7 very small lettuce leaves, 4 olives and a small pot of delicious dip. All very tasty but absolutely not a main course. I know I these are locally sourced ingredients but this felt really wrong. I will definitely return for post lunch coffees but will make sure to eat somewhere else where I can fuel up for lunch before hand.

Pleasant surroundings outside, unfortunately the food was not too a very high standard. Ham and piccalilli sandwich, ham tasteless (wafer thin and breaded, supermarket family pack springs to mind). Should have been advertised as a Piccalilli sandwich, Coffee was fine.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The menu was varied but not too much choice. We opted for jacket potato and a flat bread. Fresh and well presented.

Been to this lovely pub for Sunday lunch many times, never disappoints. Everything about this place is positive from the lovely friendly staff who can't do enough for you. It is a welcome throwback to how a local pub used to be, a real gem, long may it continues.
