Loved the guided tour round the house, the talk put the things you're looking at into context. It was a great mixture of history, humour and the mildly spooky. Felt there was a slight risk you could turn up and find all the tours booked, not sure if pre-booking is an option. Enjoyed the walk though the parkland the old trees were very atmospheric on a grey November day. Bring your walking shoes, you won't be on well tended paths like a lot of National Trust "parkland".

Stunning views from the parkland surrounding Croft Castle. Amazing and huge trees and lovely walks around the grounds. Two play areas (one natural) for small people. Decent cafe for a pit stop, and the Castle itself lent itself well to a Halloween visit. We were lucky to see behind the scenes for a ghost tour. Spooky!

Croft Castle is a delightful medley of styles and decor. It has castle turrets but also has a lot of Georgian windows, the furniture and decor can be 1920s, Georgian or whatever. It feels like a home, though and has a lot of charm. It is not prissy or pretentious and you can imagine staying there for a party. Informal walled garden, but very delightful. The picture shown is a gardener's cottage which is an integral part of the garden wall and a lovely spot. Take a visit to the parish church in the grounds next to the castle (not owned by National Trust), fascinating and very old.

A most interesting place to visit. Not only is the castle worth visiting but there is also an interesting church plus parkland to explore. We had an absolutely wonderful day at Croft Castle and Garden! The entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. The grounds are beautifully kept, and there's so much history to explore inside the castle itself. The gardens are stunning, offering a peaceful walk with plenty of picturesque spots to stop and take it all in. What made the visit even more special was that we were able to bring our dog along. It’s such a dog-friendly place, and our pup loved exploring the grounds just as much as we did! There are well-marked walking paths and plenty of space to roam, making it a perfect day out for both humans and four-legged friends alike. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We’ll definitely be coming back for another visit! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a lovely day out in the countryside, especially if you’re bringing your dog!

Absolutely stunning! One of the best NT places we have visited. With over 1,500 acres of land, there are colour coded walks to suit everyones energy levels. Ranging from 1hr - 3hr, with woodland & open parkland, there's a terrain & vista for all. The castle, having been lived in until 1985, has been lovingly maintained, which is clearly evident in each room. There is so much to see inside, taking it at your leisure is a must. There is also a small parish church in the grounds, still used to this day by a dwindling congregation. Everybody is catered for here, whether you are a couple enjoying some quiet time, a busy family, dog walkers or mobility impaired, all needs are met. Parking is free. And, of course, there is wonderful tea room & a second hand bookstore, a must for any NT place.

We had a really lovely visit to Croft Castle and grounds. It was a beautiful sunny day so that helped. The purple books in each room are full of information so it's ideal to find out what's what at your own pace. Plenty of rooms open with lots of interesting things to see. Well worth a visit. My only complaint would be that the cup of tea we had at the cafe was really insipid and only just drinkable, especially for over £5 for 2. It wet my whistle as they say!!

Where to start ! Croft Castle is a wonderful place to walk round with an interesting history, beautiful walled garden and great café!! However, for me it's the land around Croft Castle that made it a perfect day. The walk to the Iron Age hillfort is well worth it to see the circular views but we also took the Pokehouse Wood 5.5 mile walk which is brilliant however, it's a challenge as said in the description!

The house and gardens are absolutely beautiful, the views are stunning too (especially from the front of the house). The reason for 4 stars and not 5 was at how basic the ‘natural play area’ was, especially when compared to our local national trust site (Dyffryn Gardens) - it was quite a long walk for the kids to get there, and in reality it was just a few tree stumps.

Croft Castle is a hidden gem in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. The castle's rich history, dating back over 1,000 years, is beautifully preserved in its stunning architecture and captivating interiors. Individual family members of the Croft family involved in World War 2, as the monuments men. The expansive grounds are equally impressive, with tranquil gardens, ancient woodlands, and scenic walking trails. I particularly enjoyed exploring the walled garden and the peaceful church on the estate. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, adding to the overall charm of the visit. Croft Castle is a perfect destination for anyone interested in history and ancient trees - the ghost trees (standing dead wood) amazing 😀

Had a fantastic time at Croft Castle. As a national trust member it was free of charge but a family ticket was reasonable. The walks are different colour coded. Managed to do the brown route which was enough especially in the heat. The route was gorgeous. It had steep places and a few steps so be careful but had great signage. The castle and church was beautiful. Do not need to prebook to go in. I will be definitely going again ❤️

I visited for the first time today. I am regularly in Leominster as I have a caravan nearby, but didn't know this place existed. It has a lovely, shabby-chic atmosphere. There is a huge collection of books which are all in good condition - perfect for Virgos like me who get anal about an unsullied spine. The coffee was excellent and the cake was really yummy. The service was really friendly. This will be my new regular haunt when I'm in Leominster. I much prefer to support independent, local businesses. Love it!
